Hm... What if you just pretend to be a normal human who just wants a job?

That was kind of strange.. But for this paycheck you would do anything, literally.

And you decided to tell Chuuya your plan.

• CHUUYA'S POV •

Fuck.. Why do I feel this way.. Everytime I'm with them my stomach feels weird.. Do i- No!! I can't get distracted by them, I need to sign these documents..

*knock knock*

• 3RD PERSON POV •

As [Name] knocked on Chuuya's door, they couldn't help but think.

'Osmanthus wine tastes the same as I remember-'

(Sorry, what [Name] actually thought of ↓)

'Is there someone in the ADA that's gonna know who I am immediately when I walk in?'

"Come in" it was Chuuya's slightly muffled voice.

You opened the door and you swore you could see Chuuya's face Redden a bit.

"Oh, it's you.."

"The one and only, why is your face so red Chuuya? *gasp* don't tell me.. You have a crush on someone!"

"Wha-?! No I don't! It's just hot in here!"

"Yeah sure.. Anyways I have something to tell you...

"Whatever.. This may be your weirdest 'plan', but it may work, good job"

It was finally the day if the plan.

'This is the Dazai Osamu? He looks goofy..'

"THERE YOU ARE YOU TROUBLESOME BLOCKHEAD!"

Yelled out a voice that belonged to a man with dirty blonde hair tied into a low ponytail with glasses

His yell startled you, making you let out a little Yelp in Surprise.

"Oh! You found me Kunikida, Well done!"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WELL DONE?!"

"I-"

"Ugh, I'm so sorry for his behavior, Mx."

"Aha.. It's fine."

"Did he do anything to you??"

"No! He didn't, he just asked me if I wanted to commit double suicide with him.. "

"Ugh that bastar- are you okay Mx.? You look troubled"

"Ah, about that, I'm looking for a part time job"

"Oh~"

The man, Dazai moaned hummed (?), he then looked at Kunikida as if saying 'you know what I'm thinking?'

Then Dazai suddenly said..

"Then.. Do you want to join the armed detective agency, Mx.?"

i’m rereading some of the earlier bsd chapters and i really miss when it felt like a silly little dark humour sitcom revolving around the ADA and the PM. i realize that it’s not going to be like this forever and that asigiri is just building tension for the fight with fyodor, but i really want some of the silliness back.

Atsushi: Kunikida-san, do you know the difference between sugar and salt?

Kunikida: salt is a mineral, but sugar is a complex chemical compound

I have a silly little headcanon that if Chuuya was a part of the ADA, him Yosano Dazai and Ranpo would be the ultimate gossip girls of the agency. They would round up on the break room tabel spilling the hottest tea of the day.

+ Yosano and Chuuya feed off of each others moods so when Chuuya shows up to work pissed Yosano picks up on his behavior quickly. They end up roasting the living shit out of everyone and Ranpo simply sits back and enjoys the show with a pack of potato chips. Dazai is the biggest victim of it all because Chuuya.

+ Yosano having a secret wine stash at the infirmary. On some fridays they stick around after work, Yosano and Chuuya share a bottle of wine while Ranpo enjoys his hot chocolate because wine tastes like vinegar. Dazai is long gone wandering around a rooftop or a bridge. They are pretty much already drunk when Kunikida arrives at the agency to pick up a document he needs because he works even outside of working hours. His priceless reaction and the scolding that falls onto Chuuya and Yosano's drunk - deaf ears, gets dutifully recorded by Ranpo every time for them to laugh their asses off on monday alongside Dazai.

OMG but like imagine Chuuya after eventually getting over his initial shock over the entire ada in his house(not including Fukuzawa and Dazai) in his house and saying yes, as he then PROCEEDS TO SHOW THEM SO MANY RANDOM AND UNFLATTERING PICTURES OF DAZAI DURING THE DARK AGE‼️‼️

(I headcanon that Dazai had braces during the dark arc along with Chuuya having freckles!<33)

one day chuuya wakes up and goes to his room only to see the ada (minus like fukuzawa and dazai) standing there like "chuuya nakahara you knew dazai when he was going through his emo phase right ? you have pics RIGHT?"

Help I accidentally wrote ADA!Chuuya into A Graveyard For Angels-

The line was supposed to go to Kunikida but Chuuya just said like, no??? Either way I'm having fun and I think I'll keep it, especially because I wrote that scene 1000 words ago.

This is of a scene I just finished writing, pretty much the same as the show though-

so I'm making this character, and I really wanted her ability to be called 'Mad Dog' because of the connotation. I was also researching stuff and found out the dangers of them, which I wanted to explore with her ability. At the same time, I really like the sorrowful meaning behind bulls and the masculine connotation that's had with them.

so could I like, combine it?? like, if the ability is called 'Mad Dog' could I get away with it actually being personified as a bull?

Especially in BSD, there's alot of sorrow being confused with anger, and anger with sorrow, etc. Like Dazai & Chuuya and Atsushi & Akutagawa, Ango & Dazai.

A cute detail I love about the Agency's office is that everyone else's desks have files and laptops on it while Ranpo's just has a singular phone because it's the only thing he needs to do his job; get calls and go detective. And then come home and snack

I always find it funny how the Port Mafia was introduced like they were the ultimate evil and at this point, they're practically the good guys. The Agency and Port Mafia's relationship truly is the embodiment of "The enemy of my enemy is my Thematic Parallel™"

Ok so my brain did a thing-

Concept: on a mission, Chuuya gets turned into a dog (you'll never guess which breed), and dog Chuuya immediately seeks out the Agency, specifically Dazai, so he can touch him and return him to normal. However, Dazai hates dogs and refuses to associate with him. Meanwhile, the Agency practically adopts him, Atsushi the most out of all of them, and eventually Chuuya just gets comfortable there, finally being taken care of instead of the other way around. He still trailed Dazai around the most, but he gave up and just started enjoying it. Until Atsushi finally convinces a very reluctant Dazai to pet him and it's just. Chuuya

I think having the Agency members being accused as terrorists really adds a lot to their character and just how far they're willing to go in that type of situation.

Like Kunikida stealing a car (that had auto-theft insurance)

Like Fukuzawa making a deal with Mori, even willing to trade a member to the Mafia if it meant their safety.

Like Atsushi willing to make a deal with Fitzgerald if it was to get back his friends and save the Agecy.

And then there's Ranpo...

"We're terrorists now? Cool, that means I get to blow stuff up!"

There's something so interesting about how the ADA is associated with cats the PM is compared to dogs.

How there's Atsushi, who is quite literally a cat (sorry, tiger). How Fukuzawa, the president of the Agency, is obsessed with cats and caring for them.

While characters in the Mafia are dogs. There's Akutagawa, the Rabid Dog of the port mafia. Chuuya, who's loyalty could be considered dogmatic. Who literally wears a choker, or "dog collar."

And then there's the fact that Odasaku constantly compares Dazai to a cat, especially in The Day I Picked Up Dazai. Like a subtle hint that Dazai doesn't belong with the Mafia. As a matter of fact, he hates dogs. He belongs with the Agency, the ones who are associated with cats.

You know, after this arc, the detective agency is really going to have to kick up their marketing skills to get clients back.

So I've decided to make an ad to help start them off. Ehem:

*deep voice here* Do you have a problem too difficult for the police to handle? Cases you need solved, people you need to disappear? Problems with the Port Mafia who we definitely hate and do not like at all? Well, we're the people for you! Come to the Armed Detective Agency *insert picture of the Agency's mascot here* Members include:

~one dude that's actually armed

~one dude that's actually a detective

~a furry

~a super chill guy named Tanizaki. Just don't go near his sister, like, ever

~his sister

~a 14 year old farmboy who is either hungry or sleepy (can move mountains, confirmed)

~a 14 year old former assassin (she's changed now swearsies)

~a former mafioso/torture specialist. Moonlights as a suicide romantic

~a doctor who can heal all (fatal) wounds*

*if wound is not fatal, it must be made fatal for her to heal it

Does not include:

~anyone who gives a frick about the law

The Armed Detective Agency has taken on a great number of cases, and someone there has probably saved your life (or taken the life of one of your loved ones) at some point in time. Come show your appreciation! Led by, you guessed it, another former assassin, this group of fundamentally messed up individuals can solve your toughest cases!

When i say i relate to dazai on a extreme level i mean *this* dazai, not whatever nilistic bullshit the 99% of fandom thinks he is. Like We both yern to experince all corners of life and death to prove to ourselves that we are human. To prove to ourselves and others that are people, that we feel. If you think about it, dazais ache to feel the arms of death while in the ada does nothing to aid him in this, and i think he knows that.

I think he hopes while in the ada, he will feel he has finally expernced both sides of death and life to a point that will prove to him and others that he is human. he will never achive this feeling and will forever chase after it. deep down inside his doubt of his own humanity will always stand within his heart, it will boil in his head on rainy days and on sunny mornings; It will ask if he belongs amoung those around him, if he is truly a human, or simply some thing perfectly acting like one - to fool others and try to fill that abormally large hole in his heart that he knows will never fill.

Dazai Osamu will forever be greedy for proof of his humanity.

facts abt my post canon bsd au (mostly atsushi and ada centric)

◇ takes place 4 years after everything with the DoA and Hunting Dogs is settled

◇ atsushi grows his hair back out so it's a little past his shoulders

◇ sigma joins the ADA

◇ fukuzawa retires but still comes around to check on his kids former employees and is on standby in case of any future disaster

◇ kunikida and ranpo agree to co-lead the agency. kunikida takes care of most of the paperwork and employee affairs (pour one out for kida) while ranpo keeps an eye out for cases that could be DoA level threat

◇ everybody gets therapy 🥳🎉!! that government hush money compensation check for being attacked by the Hunting Dogs was partially spent on a getting therapists who could actually help them with their issues (pour another one out for the therapists bc the shit they have to deal with...)

◇ genderfluid atsushi (he/she/they), agender dazai (he/him or it/its), nonbinary sigma (they/he)

◇ kunichuuzai canon. dazai and kunikida got together first, then kunikida and chuuya and finally after many schemes dazai and chuuya talked abt their feelings for each other and got together shortly after

◇ atsushi joins a local community college because she realized she can do stuff for herself outside of working. he's studying literature

◇ kyoka and kenji tried to go regular school for a short while before they realized that that they hated it, so kunikida toutered them helped them get a GED (public school couldn't handle them anyway)

(Idt its that bad but just in case) tw: implied w33d usage, implied paranoia, implied hallucinations.

◇ reason why atsushi was finally sent to therapy was bc they were convinced to get high to help their anxiety (one guess who convinced them) and had a bad trip. they got extremely paranoid, mentioned times he would hallucinate and had several concerning statements about himself. when he sobered up the agency said they were going and she only agreed to go if dazai went and surprisingly dazai agreed to go.(dazai planned to go one session and was somehow conned by his therapist to continue going)

◇ found family dazai, atsushi, Kyoka

◇ but also blood family bc wow dazai and atsushi are half siblings!! (Their dad was a hoe, I'll get into in a separate post)

◇ atsushi's orphanage gets shut down (ada birthday gift for atsushi) and gets a documentary made due to the horrific treatment of the children there

◇ sparring buddies chuuya and atsushi

◇ kyoka, kenji, aya and q friendship

◇ after being turned into a vampire akutagawa has sharper canines than the average human and while his lungs are slightly better he carries any inhaler with him just in case

◇ atsushi has more control over his ability in the future and can now shift into his full tiger form on command and communicate with byakko

◇ dazai is also working to control his ability more and can now shut it off for a few minutes before it kicks back on

◇ byakko is a sentient ability similar to arahbaki. she has been around for centuries and has had many different hosts, one who was the author of The Book.

◇ how did they defeat fyodor? Uhhhh he got eaten by rats, turned into one, the tiger ate him and bc of ability bs he stayed dead next question

◇ dazai also has slightly long hair and now uses a cane

◇ tanazaki sibs finally work on their codependency issues

◇ yosano and tachihara go to lunch every few weeks to talk abt shunzen and bond

◇ akuatsulucy canon

◇ sigma and ranpo bet on random shit together and ranpo is surprised at how talented sigma is at betting

◇ ranpoe are long distance relationship atm but poe is making arrangements to move to yokohama

◇ mori steps down as head of mafia for...reasons and kouyou swifty takes charge of the pm (it was supposed to be chuuya but he threatened to leave the whole city and dazai agreed to help sooo kouyou)

◇ atsushi and lucy take edibles

◇ atsushi and yosano both hate being called angel. If you do it it's the fastest way to lose an arm

Guys I think we all need a moment to appreciate how the characters spoke in the early BSD mangas.

Kunikida’s sass is unparalleled and I need you all to realize this.

If Atsushi gets transferred

Akutagawa: Jinko, it’s 4am why on earth are you making Chakuze?

Atsushi: Because I’ve lost control over my life.

Genuinely, it’s so easy to see Sigma being tired of such big behind the scenes roles, even if it’s for the Agency.

Especially because the Agency seems to already have their fill of administration and support members. (The structure of that place is kind of a mess but it works very effectively.)

It would be nice to see Sigma go through the journey of trying to put himself into a place like that, only to realize that’s not he wants, and it’s not where he fits.

Being a part of a family doesn’t mean you have to be a member of their group or organization. The best families are the ones who let you choose the path that is best for you.

So then he ends up at the cafe, and is able to build his own life and identity in that space for the first time ever.

I don't want Sigma to become a detective, purely because I don't think that's what he wants either.

He wants the love, trust and care of the Agency, he wants the same bond Dazai has with the others. He's craving a home, a family, and the Agency is the first place he's seen have that.

But he's also highly strung and nervous, he doesn't seem to like being in combative and dangerous situations. Which being a detective would place him in. He does however seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with people and providing services for people.

He loved the sky casino and whilst the sheer size of his customer base overwhelmed him, he genuinely cared about that place and making people happy.

I think, if he does join the Agency, he should join it on the administrative side. He'd get to show off his organizational skills and he'd be helping people whilst staying out of action. He has great memory so going through case files and doing the behind the scenes research to aid the detectives out on the field would suit him well. He could also attend meetings with Fukuzawa, who hates having to talk business and help with the Agency's connections.

Alternatively, if he doesn't join the Agency, I think it would be fun if he also got a job at the cafe.

Again, I think he just enjoys customer service type roles and the owner has already adopted one stray in Lucy, why not another? Sigma and Lucy would be such a fun combo, I'd love to see them interacting with the Agency whenever they're in the cafe.

I like to think Kunikida is aroace or at the very least on that spectrum.

This is the hill I will passively sit on as I watch everyone else fight to their deaths.

Dazai is not the type of person who likes to go shopping for himself. (Especially not on his own dime.)

So, he doesn’t normally realize he’s out of shampoo until it’s gone.

When that happens, he just steals some from Kunikida, because Kunikida always has an extra bottle lined up for when he runs out.

But Dazai’s done this so many times now that not only does Kunikida know it’s Dazai, he’s also begun to just buy another extra to keep in his cabinet. Except this one is a brand he picked personally for Dazai, suited for his greasy ass hair and everything.

He never said anything about it.

And although Dazai will never say it out loud, he’s just as grateful as he is amused.

As well all know, Atsushi’s haircut is the result of the other kids at the orphanage. They would cut his hair without caring, and any time he tried to cut it himself, they would take the scissors and “cut it for him.”

So it’s only natural that Atsushi would grow to hate getting haircuts from anyone.

It’s not that he doesn’t trust the kind people in his life to try their best, (well, except maybe Dazai) it’s that it reminds him so much of what the other kids would do. And that puts him on edge the entire time.

He sits there, waiting, expecting them to suddenly yank his hair and start cutting at random while laughing and taunting him. And he hates feeling like those he cares about are going to hurt him. So he cuts his hair himself.

Maybe one day he can re-learn that trust, but for now he’s content to do it himself. Even if he’s less than good at it.

Anything even remotely father shaped in this series must die apparently.

This is an emergency actually

The ADA’s driving situation is so funny to me when I think about it, like-

Dazai is such a bad driver him even being near the car greatly increases your chances of crashing.

Atushi can’t drive for shit because he was stuck in the orphanage until he was 18.

Ranpo doesn’t even know how to ride a damn train and is so bad at navigating I can’t tell if he’s bullshitting or not.

Kenji probably didn’t even know what a car was until he joined the Agency.

Kunikida can maybe drive but he’s probably going way too fast at any given time regardless of the situation.

I don’t even want to think about what would happen if you put one of the Tanizaki siblings behind the wheel, especially if they were both in the car at the same time.

Have you ever seen Fukuzawa in the same room as a car?

And Yosano is yet to be determined.

So that leaves Kyouka. The 14 year old child as the Agency’s main driver when something comes up. And even she’s kinda reckless.
