Ok so disclaimer: I mostly have Jawyer headcanon filling my brain (though my fanfic explores the other dynamics) because they're both incredibly precious and furiously hot at the same time, I just can't deal 😅

OK so here's my headcanon about how it felt to go from friends to lovers.

And here's the song I associate with that, if you're interested. It's... hot.

Without going into too much detail about the circumstances, it was evident for both these guys as soon as they slept together for the first time that they'd probably never get enough..

James had never slept with a man but always found them attractive. And he always found Jack particularly attractive (I mean... have you seen him???)

Jack had experience, and he wanted to test that out with James. He had an inkling that their friendly chemistry would probably translate to something quite enjoyable... so he was the one to actually ask for it (I mean, after plenty of overthinking... he's still Jack).

James had always been one to please, in bed, and focused on the other person's pleasure. But with Jack, it unlocked something else. Not the wish, not the desire, but the drive, the need to please someone. The insurmountable urge to be the one to make him plead and shake under his touch 🥵.

It awakened something he feared he would never be able to put to rest.

In turn, Jack's initial attraction to James turned to wildfire as soon as he entered him for the first time. To hell with clichés, it truly felt like a piece of him he only then realised had been missing. James' eagerness to please him, to do him exactly how he wants, allowed Jack to give into shamelessly chasing his pleasure and asking for more 🤤

So, as we could have all guessed, their freaks just perfectly matched each other.

And as time went on, the love they shared grew as did the passion of their reunions. Now, each time they're together, it feels better somehow.

But this also makes it incredibly harder when they have to separate...

Honestly, could you blame them? 🫣

People think "Oh these two guys just fought about Kate!"

First of all, they never fought about her. And while they both had feelings for her, the whole trio's dynamic revolves around the fact that both Kate and Sawyer just want Jack's attention and he's too dense (or, ya know, neurodivergent) to notice either of them is flirting with him.

(To be fair, Sawyer himself doesn't realise he's flirting with him. But he is. Oh, he is.)

Imo, you don't understand Jack/Kate/Sawyer relationship if you don't acknowledge Jack as the apex of the love triangle. I know, I know, the show does its best to make you think that's Kate the apex but, really, it's Jack.

Everybody on that island is a little in love with Jack but Jack. Jack hates himself lol.

Following the honorable @lost-inanotherlife's lead, please can we talk about Jack and John's relationship at length? Once you start thinking about it, it just plagues your mind. they're so intricately linked, it makes me head hurt.

And you know what I find crazier after everything? It's that Jack never found out John was paralysed.

been thinkin about this a lot. Jack's masculinity is a special one, esp when considering this show came out in 2004.

apparently back then it was kind of a joke how much Jack cried (arh-arh, how original and funny), but the writers still made their show's hero: sensible, caring, willing to cry, willing to admit (sometimes with difficulty) his mistakes, did i say caring, with an immense capacity to love, protective, and again, caring.

i think it's probably a bit magic that we got to see that representation of masculinity hoisted as a valuable one (this character ends up saving humanity) in the early aughts. we might have been blessed or smth.

btw I love the fact that jack is so emotional and driven by his heart and he falls in love so easy and. god. you don't often see male characters act like that and it's. still pretty refreshing! like yeah boys do cry!!!!

What I wrote ten weeks ago in a post, here about how Sawyer felt about Jack when they were on the Island:

His school girl antics with Jack in the first seasons were just the manifestation of his crush in a way he himself couldn't grasp.

And I mean, there's no better way to express his way of acting with Jack. It's so on the nose it made me lol for a while when I realised the parallels.

It's giving I'll tease you, call you names, have you break up the fights I'm a part of, follow you around making dumb jokes you're not in the mood for, volunteer for every risky thing you're also a part of, kiss the girl you're obviously crushing on, get injured so you can help me, and if all fails, I'll actually ask you to play courtyard games with me for a while... anything.

What's in a language?

The floral scent of Kate’s hair brings him back to earth. How sweet it is to lay in her arms. Their relationship had grown even stronger since his release from hospital three months earlier. The impulse to share his desires with her had seemed at times selfish, at others completely ludicrous. Why risk wrecking their perfect balance for a whim?

This is a snippet from my WIP, a part I'm so happy about.

I've been writing fanfiction for two months, and I'm still amazed at how incredibly hard it is to convey things in a language that's initially not my own.

I've been studying (partly) in English for years, did my Master's degree in English, I've been consuming content in that language for almost half my life and yet...

Actually writing out something that's well crafted, that flows, that engages the reader (I'm my first reader and, as a lot of other writers I suppose, my worst critic),... is so incredibly difficult to me.

In many ways, it feels like work.

But I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. It's a task I love taking on because the result, when it's done right, fills me with incredible joy.

I do resort to Deepl at times, because I'm so used to writing prose in French. But I feel like this doesn't impair the result and helps me feel less stuck on the page.

But man, I really would have never guessed before starting this how slowly it comes together.

Mad respect to all writers out there, none of it is easy. But today, I'd like to pay madder respect to non-native writers because dude, that shit is even less easy.
