Your personal Tumblr journey starts here
You had wondered why he was spending so much more time in the office.
You almost wished you had minded your own business because nothing could hurt more than the sight in front of you. He hadn’t even spotted you yet, busy paying attention to the blonde under his desk, his secretary you realize. The very woman he had told you not to worry about."We're just coworkers Y/N” he had promised but he was a demon now, his promises meant nothing but stupidly you had hung onto every single one trusting that the love of your life wouldn’t lead you on and lie to you, a mistake on your part you’re now realizing as you watch him with his head tossed back in pleasure a look you knew well. Tears pricked your eyes as your chest felt tight, suffocating almost as you stood there frozen. A sniffle escaping you as you fight off the urge to collapse into a sobbing mess in front of all of his already gossiping coworkers, that sniffle was enough to alert his senses to your presence as he quickly pushed the blonde away, “Y/n what’re you doing here?” he asked shocked as he attempted to straighten out his clothes “I came to bring you lunch but that was clearly a mistake” you spat no longer caring about protecting his public image “Y/n it’s not what it looks like I promise” he swore walking towards you as if you were a hurt animal in need of rescuing “oh so your dick wasn’t just down her throat?” you ask sarcastically knowing good and well that you had caught him, and no matter how much it hurt you had to end things or he would only do it again. “Well, it was but I promise you it didn’t mean anything” he attempted to soothe you but it only made you see red through your tears as people gathered around to watch the spectacle all he did was throw around promises as if they meant anything to you anymore. “Do you think I’m stupid Lucifer? Do you think so lowly of me that you would consider this okay??” You hiccuped trying not to cry in front of him as he quickly shook his head “No of course not my love-” “Don’t call me that” you snapped shoving his lunch into his chest angrily knowing he was much too prideful to defend his actions against you not that it would fix anything cause you both knew, despite everything you’ve been through, that the two of you were over and there was nothing as painful as as the look of regret you could see in his bright red eyes before you turned away. As you walked away, you did so with the knowledge that you would no longer be hanging onto the promises of a man who could so easily betray you for who knows how long while you were waiting for his return.
How’d things end up like this?
Why’d it have to be you? Dragging him home from another drunken night at the bar. He had friends, why couldn’t it be them? His brothers even? You were the ex. It wasn’t your job to make sure he got home anymore. He constantly trashed you on devilgram to his numerous fans. You begged him to stop, pleaded with him to let you heal and move on but it was to no avail.
You even changed your number but he always found you. It was hard to believe this was the same person you once loved and the thought that he had loved you the same for even just a moment was what kept you coming to his aid. You had lost touch with countless friends, family even just to appease him and his jealousy but it seems you were merely a fool, a fool in love but stupid nonetheless cause now there was nobody to save you from situations like this; “I missed you” Mammon grumbled his words slurring as you supported most of his weight
“I didn’t think you’d come” he continued on as you huffed his white hair wild and sticking up in your face, “I shouldn’t have come” you muttered hoping he wouldn’t understand in his drunken state “I was so close to forgetting you, was getting my life together n’ everything'' you continued even knowing it would be a bad idea to say anything more as he stared at you with glassy eyes “You’ll never forget me” he said quietly and it brought tears to your eyes knowing he was right. You’d never forget him, what could’ve been would always haunt you and you weren’t dumb enough to think it wouldn’t but you’d always try because that was all you could do.
Nobody lives forever. Nor did you ever intend to, no matter what anybody did to try and convince you to accept the extended life span you simply couldn’t. Immortality seemed to be such a cold and lonely thing. The brothers begged and the angels pleaded with you to do it for them not understanding any of the downsides that came with immortality. So when you lose your life at the hands of a jealous succubus everybody is distraught. There was nothing they could do, nothing you would let them do to help you. All they could do was make sure you were comfortable as the demon's magic slowly and painfully ate at your body from the inside out, shutting it down with extreme agony they were sure but you never showed it. Never let them see the pain as you coughed up blood, and definitely didn’t let them see the way fear crept into your eyes at the thought of leaving them all behind in such a painful way.
But there was nothing they could do. No amount of anguish or rage would fix this and when the time came to say goodbye nobody could bear to show up. Nobody could bear to watch the life fade from your eyes and you died alone. Alone, and in pain, but understanding nonetheless, the same way you’d always been. You had no regrets though, you never wanted them to witness your quick deterioration for you knew where you’d end up when all of this was over.

His hands were bloody, but not as bloody as you were.
You were coughing out blood, feeling your eyelids getting heavier by the second.
“S- Stay with me MC!” His voice was cracking, didn’t even care how he sounded nor his composure. He wanted you to stay with him, it was to soon..
Your smile, your laugh, your beauty..
“L- Lucifer-.” You croaked out, his attention fully on you, canceling out all the loud yelling and screaming, as if it were all deaf to his ears but ur soft voice.
“I- It’s.. o- ok..”
“Please stop saying such things MC- your going to be ok..” He knew it was to late, but he tried to believe in himself, believing you wouldn’t die in his arms like his sister once before..
You smiled softly.. raising your hand to caress his cheek, light making your eyes sparkle for the last time..
“I l- love you Lucifer.. t- thank you for this.. I would do it all over again..” He held onto your hand tightly, leaning down to kiss you with all his might, showing his feeling and love for you in the kiss, a couple tears going down cheek..
He felt your hand start to come lose.. as you both pull away..
His wails and words starting to become quiet to your ears as you saw light beginning to appear..
And the light disappeared from your beautiful eyes, your hand and body going limp in Lucifers grasp..
He became cold, distant, and worse to his brothers after.. sometimes you can hear his wails and himself shattering his demonus in his office..
Mammon didn’t want to believe this was real.. NO! It was never supposed to be like this! You were both supposed to get married and have a family.. and die old in bed..
“Mammon.. please s- stop crying..” The human whispered, barley having enough energy left..
“N- NO! YOUR NOT LEAVING ME LIKE THIS PLEASE..!” Mammon was sobbing, his brothers in the background shocked..
“M- Mammon.. shhhhh.. don’t be sad now..-.” You giggled at the last part of your sentence with a smile, tears streaming down your face..
“Your the G- Great Mammon.. I- I.. will always be..”
Mammon didn’t want to here that.. no way in hell your leaving..
“MC P- PLEASE..-.” He kissed you on the lips, no tsundere act anywhere, his hands firmly on you..
But.. your body began to fall to the ground.. as you pulled away..
“b- be with y- you..”
Your eyes lost the emotion in them, your hand falling on the ground..
“M- MC.. S- STOP PLAYING AROUND..”
He was sobbing in your neck, begging for you to come back to him.. but you never did..
After that.. his room was messy, he never slept, and drinks every night..
It’s like one of those sad anime’s he’s watched.. where the crush dies in the end..
“MC! W- WHY?!”
Levi is shocked.. he found you wounded on the beach..
How did this even happen..
“L- Levi shhhhhh..”
“What do you mean shhhh?! Your dying! I- I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!”
He couldn’t lose you.. you were the only person that understood him.. and loved him..
“B- But.. you have R- Ruri Chan.. you’ll.. be ok-.”
“BUT YOUR BETTER THAN HER.. I LOVE YOU..”
He just confessed his love for you.. right here.. right when you were being taken from the light..
You leaned up with all your energy left and kissed him softly on the lips.. telling him you felt the same.. and how you both were true.. best friends..
You pulled away as you started to feel yourself leave your body..
“I- I love you.. L- Leviathan..”
And your eyes darkened.. you were gone..
“MC N- NO.. NOO-.”
He then stared at your form sobbing..
He later gets sucked into his game reality, canceling out all real life.. and never comes out of his room.. unless he’s starving starving.
How did this happen.. you were both reading a book and then your clumsy self spilled tea on it..
He now was holding your firmly.. tears streaming down his face..
“N- NO.. I never meant…” He was shocked.. you were dying all because.. of-
“S- Satan.. i- it’s not your fault..-.”
“I- It is what are you talking about..-.”
He felt so much rage in himself.. cursing on how he did this to you..
You deserved better, how could his wrath have gotten the best of him.. how-
“Satan.. I- I love you.. and emotions get the best of us.. sometimes..” You quietly laughed, coughing out some blood in the process.
Satan’s eyes widened.. oh how did he deserve such a sweet.. soul.. a precious human of all people to love him..
Giving you a kiss on the lips.. as you kissed him back with all the energy you had left..
He then felt your hand leaving his as your body met the floor.. you still smiling as your soul left the body..
“I- It’s ok..” You softly whispered with the little bits of energy you had remaining..
“N- NO..”
Satan couldn’t process what was happening.. you just died because of his..
All he did was scream as the moonlight showed your limped body.
Books later were ripped to shreds that night.. never wanting to come out of his room again..
What?
He never expected to feel sad by this.. but he couldn’t stop crying seeing your beautiful form, all bruised up..
He wasn’t there because he..
“A- Asmo.. your here..!” Your voice joyed seeing him.. but his face in horror seeing you..
He caressed you, sobbing horribly..
“M- MC.. I’M SO SORRY..!” He meant it and you saw it..
He truly cared for you.. and oh how much you smiled seeing that, you admired his beauty since you met him.. and believed he cared about others than himself..
“I- I knew you c-cared about me..” You laughed at the end of your sentence, starting to feel dark, losing eyesight..
“Honey.. I always have..” He croaked as he he kissed you suddenly.. the kiss felt so magical..
“T- Thank you Asmodeus..” You quietly croaked, starting to meet the floor..
“NOOO.. MC!”
But.. you were gone.. as Asmo just cried in your dead bodies chest..
He never wanted to do anything with his beauty anymore.. he just started to smoke when he felt depressed..
No.. no.. way your dying.. not another.. because of him..
“B- Beel.. shhhhh” You gasped out as he sobbed horribly.. getting flashbacks of how he chose Belphie instead of Lilith..
“I’m sorry..” His voice was muffled in your neck..
“I could’ve done better..-.”
“Shh, B- Beel no.. don’t blame yourself for my death.. promise me.. you will be the fun Beel.. ok..?”
He looked up at you, his expression obviously super sad and filled with tears.. but nodded as he felt your soul leaving..
He suddenly kissed you.. a pleasant goodbye he wanted to give you before you moved on..
You smiled into the kiss, saying a ‘I love you’ as your soul left, your head falling backward.
He just cried.. he couldn’t say anything.. you were gone.. and he couldn’t do anything.. but then he remembered the promise you gave him.. and always made sure of it.
But he always gets nightmares of you when he thinks about you.. he just misses you so much..
No. Your not dying. Not like this.
He held you against him, the impact of the room filled with sadness..
No way.. not again..
“B-Belphie..-.”
“No.. shut up.. your not doing this.. your not dying on ME!”
Belohie did not want to lose another person in his life..
His sister.. NOT HIS LOVER TO!
“I don’t want.. to d- die either Belphie.. but.. I can’t hold on much l- longer..”
You could feel yourself drifting away from reality, you wanted to stay.. not have Belphie suffer but..
“B- Belphie.. please promise me.. you won’t go on a r- rampage.. after this..” You gasped.. barley breathing.
He knew you meant those words.. but he didn’t know how he would live after your gone..
“I love you.. S- so much..” You whispered, as he just stared at you with some tears starting to form in his eyes..
You started closing your eyes.. as he suddenly kissed you with force.. not wanting you to go.. but he felt nothing in the kiss as it did before.
You went limp..
“Ha.. haha..” Belphie felt as if he’s going crazy.. humans really are something.. and he never wanted anything to do with one after that.. but always kept your promise.
He hates sleeping after that.. the nightmares and stupid dreams always had you in it.. as he cried in the night.
I’m a huge fan of angst and this was something I thought since I’ve read and seen so much Mammon angst. I love Mammon so much but I love the angst, so I hope you enjoy this oneshot..

“Mammon, you are responsible for taking care of the human exchange student”
Mammon didn’t want to hear those words, he never wanted anything to do with a lousy human.
All he wanted to do was not have anything to deal with.. or being a punching bag to his brothers.
He thought of a way out of it, since all his brothers think of him as an irresponsible idiot.. so..
“Ya really think you can trust me on taking care of some god damn human? I might as well just sell it-.”
“That won’t be necessary, and if I find out this human is dead you're going to be thrown into the tomb. I don’t care what Cerberus does, he may do as he pleases”
Mammon just gave his older brother a glare, but on the inside he feels as if all he is a punching bag. Lucifer doesn’t even punish the others as insane as Mammon.
He doesn’t even know why..
“Ya know what! Ur evil, plane EVIL!” He shouted, but of course none of the others cared nor wanted to be involved.
They didn’t even defend him, they just did the opposite by laughing..
…
“Is it true Mammon has to take care of a human?”
“I would’ve eaten it by now”
“For real!”
All the gossip and murmuring echoed throughout the RAD as the human passed by without making eye contact.
She is super confused and doesn’t know why she was chosen out of all humans for the exchange student program.
Her thoughts were closed by some snickering by some demon students.
‘I’m just a toy am I?’
She sighed thinking about it, and remembering what Lucifer told her earlier..
“You aren’t here to make friends, you're here as an exchange student to work at your best. I just pray that a demon doesn’t try doing anything to you, just focus on surviving this year and stay out of my way.”
She clutched her textbooks to her chest as she sped walked faster, getting even more paranoid by the second.
“Oi Human! slow down will ya!”
She heard a familiar voice behind her as she stopped in place, turning around to find her.. Babysitter?
“Why are ya walking so damn fast, at least show me some respect or else!”
She could sense the irritation in his voice, but did not care at the moment.
She just wanted to get to class and get this day over with, she’s been disrespected and sexualized all day..
There was a pause between the two, as if time stopped.
It didn’t take long until a group of demons came up behind the human, one of them clutching their hand on her neck.
Eyes widening she gasped in fright by the sudden touch and on the verge of tears.
“Mammon, how’s the little pet going for you?” The demon asked with a smirk forming on his features.
“Because if you aren’t going to do anything, I would love to take part..”
The demon got closer to the human, she was trying to squirm free from his grasp but couldn’t.
His friends were chuckling at the situation and decided to record it.
Mammon felt himself suffer from watching that, it reminded him of something so familiar but..-
And then he saw it, he saw himself in those humans' big beautiful eyes in fear, guilt, alone..
Before he had time to think his body moved toward them both, launching the demon into the wall while grasping the human protectively in his arms.
Everyone around them snapped their heads up by the sudden action, and was shocked that Mammon of all people saved a HUMAN AND CARED?!
The demon who was shoved in the wall then got up to punch Mammon for the sudden outburst and for payback.
But Mammon dodged it like it was nothing and grabbed ahold of his arm, slamming him to the floor.
The demon coughed out blood and stilled when Mammon put his foot on the side of his face with a dark glare.
“If I see you land a hand on her again, it won’t be so pretty and I swear it will be more satisfying than grimm.”
The demons and the human’s eyes were widened in shock by what he said, he had never gotten this dark nor protective over anyone before. And nobody ever expected Mammon to do that.. he always had control of himself.. and lost it over a fucking human girl..
“AND THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU!” He shouted at all the demons there, as they all gasped and stepped back from his sudden words, even putting their phones away to stop recording.
Mammon put his foot off the demon's face as he scrambled away, a clear wrathful face on his features to what Mammon did to him.
“You-.”
“What is the commotion here..?”
Mammon, the human, and the demon stopped their tracks. They knew that voice.. and they knew they were all screwed and to stay silent.
“Mammon..! What did you do this time?”
The 3 looked to the direction of the familiar voice, the familiar black aura that filled the tension of all of devildom, Lucifer, he looked clearly irritated by his “little” brother's antics.
The human looked over and Mammon’s demon form was nowhere to be seen.
His expression was now guilt, emotionless, holding back- than he was a few moments ago.
His head was held low, didn’t even want to see Lucifer's face, nor let him see his face of shame.
The human seemed to notice this, but didn’t want to intervene in case it would make things worse.
‘Mammon didn’t do anything wrong, he just stood for me that is all.. and now it’s all my fault that he now has to get in trouble just for my foolishness..’
“You there, go to detention” Lucifer pointed at the student who had a big bruise and bloody cheek. He shuffled away in anger and fear, thinking about how he would get his revenge.
“Now.. human, are you wounded?” He stood tall and his gaze was intimidating.
The human felt a bit uncomfortable from the way he stood, but she couldn't just stay silent.
She wanted to lie and say she wasn’t, which she actually wasn’t because she is tough, but you can clearly notice her neck is a little bruised.
“On the neck I guess, but it’s not a huge deal-.”
“Mammon.. don’t you see she could’ve been killed from your stupid weak little mind!” Lucifer interrupted, looking at Mammon in doubt.
The human wanted to say something to stop Lucifer from calling his own little brother these horrible words.
She looked over at Mammon and noticed his fists clenching-
“It’s such an embarrassment to even call you my brother.. why would I even think about trusting you to watch over this human-.”
Bam!
It echoed through the hallway
The human's eyes widened as she saw the scene unfold. Her mouth agape in shock, hands not moving, still as a statue, but the little bits of a shiver you could see in her features.
Mammon had just punched Lucifer square in the face. He had finally gotten to his limit.. and couldn’t hold back from all the insults and shame anymore..
Lucifer actually lost his balance and stumbled back, putting his gloved hand onto his face in confusion, anger, shock.
His eyes were widened by what Mammon of all people just did, nobody has ever laid a hand on him, ever..
Mammon on the other hand, was shocked himself.. did he just do that?!
Nobody could speak, nor say a word from what just happened.
At this point Mammon didn’t want to be here anymore, he just wanted to go home.. but he knew he couldn’t because of Lucifer.
He will obviously get a punishment, but this one will be the worst ever before, Lucifer might barely kill him because of his sadism.
“You dare.. lay a hand on me Mammon..?”
Oh boy.. the friction of the room was insanely death-like, and it just made Mammon get angrier, as he added more.
They were both in the demon forms, they wanted to fight! Each other?!
“Yea.. I punched you.. since I need you to see what I go through everyday.. bastard..” Mammon replied, laughing at the end of his sentence.
He knew he was possibly going to die, and he was just about to get it, while fighting Lucifer, his own brother, to wound him insanely..
“What did you just call me..?” Lucifer said as his wings folded out bigger with a slight smirk forming, as his eyes glowed red like a real devil.
“A BASTARD!! A SICK PRIDEFUL FUCK! WHO I NEVER SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED!”
Lucifer actually broke inside hearing Mammon say those words.. but his pride was overpowering him right now, and he couldn’t even feel the pain barely at all.
The two eldest demons didn’t notice the human had slipped from the situation. She quickly ran away to go get the brothers and Diavolo, this had to be stopped now!
This wasn’t the Lucifer and Mammon you knew, they completely lost control..
While she ran there was banging and shattering echoing through the halls..
Should I make a Part 2..?

Diavolo paced back and forth in his office; he saw the entire scene play down below- all he could muster up was a tired sigh before he walked back to slouch at his desk. He rubbed his temples as he stared at the tall stack of paperwork calling his name.
He had to stay strong through this entire process for you. You needed him as a leader more than ever. You needed him to play the guardian angel- or guardian demon in this case.
Barbatos stood silently behind his young master, he watched as the redhead tugged at the roots of his hair. He tsk’ed to himself; his young lord really wasn’t the best at dealing with stress if it regarded someone he loved. He places a gloved hand on the tense man’s shoulder, squeezing lightly, “Young Master, I’m sure that you’re having a hard time but I can assure you that all your efforts will be worth it in the end. You’re simply doing what is best for your exchange students-” Diavolo shoots up from his seat, startling his butler. Barbatos is even more stunned when he sees the tears welling up in the Prince's eyes.
“It doesn’t feel right, Barbatos. We can say that we’re trying to protect the exchange program but at the cost of the wellbeing of one of my exchange students? Am I… Am I doing the wrong thing?”
Before Barbatos could answer, the Avatars of Sin burst through the office doors. Lucifer carries you toward the velvet sofa near the desk in a panic. He glanced down at you, he saw the slow rise and fall of your chest and breathed out a sigh of pure relief. He sees your necklace go from black to an array of different colors but it lands on this dark purple.
Strange.
Belphegor gasps as he feels a wave of pain shock him to his very core. It wasn’t unbearable per se but it was enough to have the seventh-born fall to his knees. “Belphie!” The magical telepathic bond Beelzebub shared with Belphegor flared up, causing the ginger to fall to his knees as well.
The pain kept crashing down on them, wave after wave as it started getting worse. What started out as a pain similar to a dog’s bite started to grow tenfold and it became the pain similar to having a knife shanked through your chest with the perpetrator who stabbed you twisting the handle and the blade at an agonizing snail’s pace. After what seemed like an eternity of pain, it stopped.
You wake up in Lucifer’s arms.
You blink blearily, the light fixture in the office blinded you for a moment and in your state of delirium, you pulled the warm touch enveloping you close. A strong scent hits your nose, a smell of expensive bourbon and tobacco drawing you into a state of comfort. For some reason, the scent smelt like… home.
Lucifer is silent, he’s frozen in place. He’s afraid that once he moves, you’ll cower away from him as if he were a monster but… in a way he really was. The way you grasp at his hands before tucking yourself closer to his chest- it made his heart race in equal parts fear and adoration.
Peace has never really been a card in his deck.
You glance up and the first thing you see are these mesmerizing red eyes; they have you gasping in awe. You blink and before you know it, your chest constricts once more as your mind is flooded with what seems like another awful nightmare- strong black wings as dark as night, a man grasps at your forearm so harshly that his fingertips leave bruises but… then there’s this face…
A tired face pops up from propped arms. He seems to have been asleep on a desk and when he looks up at you, he smiles boyishly.
Your heart quickens once more when you blink and in the next scenario, those same blood red eyes peer at you with such anger and hatred in your visions.
What on Earth is going on?!
Lucifer, for a moment, forgets his brothers and the crowned Prince. His attention is all yours. He watches as you shake in his arms, your eyes glazed over as you tighten your hands into fists. The necklace shifts from purple to red.
What sorcery- Solomon.
He swiftly places you on the sofa just as he staggers to his knees. His brothers, all of whom were attending to the youngest twins a few moments before, had all turned their attention to their eldest brother in surprise. They couldn’t do a single thing except watch with wide eyes the way Lucifer tried his hardest to keep any sounds of pain to himself.
A sharp gasp escaped his lips.
You shakily sit up to watch the black-haired demon kneel by the foot of the sofa. You kept your gaze down as you tried to peek at the group standing by the door. Putting two and two together, you realized quickly that seeing their faces caused unbearable fear to seep into your heart and soul. You knew they had something to do with your memory loss. A part of you, a tiny fragment of your heart, knew that you loved them but you had no clue as to why. You had to start small; if you couldn’t look them in the eye, you needed to know a little bit about them at the very least.
You started with their shoes.
Your eyes dart between them, their feet to be exact, and you huff to yourself. They all wore the same shoes— all their shoes were black dress shoes. A classy style, sure, but it's hard to differentiate them this way. You take a shaky breath and look up, your eyes meet a redhead's sympathetic stare.
You wait for a moment to see how your body would react to him. His eyes were incredibly kind. A beautiful amber hue reminiscent of the gemstones in your mother's old jewelry, his gaze was sweet like honey.
You felt safe.
Slowly rising from the sofa, you scurry over to him quickly, "I-I'm sorry if I make you feel uncomfortable…" you trail off as you bury your face into his blood red uniform.
You miss the guilty smile on his face.
"You've got nothing to worry about, (MC). It's alright." He cooes, his big hands pat you on the head and on the back comfortingly. You breathe in his scent and you swear you could melt in his arms then and there.
He smelt a touch like cedarwood and vanilla; almost like a sweet campfire without the smoke. "I can assume that we were friends before the accident then?" Your voice sounded muffled against the red suede leather.
He chuckles heartily but softly, he's still hyper aware of the seven normally protective and jealous demon lords in his presence. "Yes, we were close. My name is Diavolo and—"
You quickly pull away, eyes wide with embarrassment, "My Lord! Simeon and Solomon mentioned your name before I came back to RAD. I apologize for my actions-" You bow quickly, heart beating against your chest. You felt cold the minute you pulled away from his arms.
He made you feel at home— safe from the possible dangers that stood around the room behind you.
Diavolo frowns, eyebrows furrowed as he grabs your hands in his, "Drop the formalities, (MC). With the way you're acting, it's almost as if this is the first time we've spoken. Like I mentioned, we're close friends… " He whispers, he could feel his heart cracking as you avoided his gaze.
Curse his title.
His gaze wanders over to Barbatos and he gives his butler a simple nod. He springs into action at the approval of his Lord, he quickly pulls Lucifer up from the floor and ushers the Avatars of Sin out of the room. Mammon yells out a complaint, "Lord Diavolo! This ain't fair, we just wanna talk to them!"
The door is shut behind Barbatos.
You slowly turn around and realize that you and Diavolo were left alone, "If you decide later that you want to talk to them, they'll be in a meeting room a few doors down. For now, I just want to talk to you." He says warmly, guiding you over to his table to seat you in a plush armchair.
Barbatos leads the Avatars down the hall, only two doors down. If they were all humans, they’d have to sit in uneasy silence as they await for your time and presence but they aren’t humans. Demons are known to have incredibly keen senses, their vision is approximately fifty times better than yours, same goes for their sense of smell and hearing. It’s common knowledge in the Devildom that as long as you focus on a particular voice, as long as they’re in the general vicinity, you could practically eavesdrop. It’s almost like they were in the room with you and Diavolo. All they had to do was focus on you.
The brothers held out a sliver of hope; they wanted to believe that Diavolo and Barbatos did that on purpose.
Diavolo passed you a cup of bloodberry and cinnamon tea from a silver tray; Barbatos came prepared once again. His eyes screamed kindness and understanding; if he tried to pry information out of you, you’d probably willingly tell him everything he’d want or need to know. “So, could you tell me what happened? Why did the Avatars of Sin rush into my office looking the way they did?”
He avoided mentioning the ghastly looks on the faces of the brothers, the way they looked like death incarnate. The stress was becoming too much for even the strongest demons in his Realm.
You look down at your lap sheepishly, your cheeks dusting a light pink as you wring your fingers together, "I don't really know who they are. I mean, from the way they reacted and the way my heart… The way my heart aches when I see them— I think I know them." you say softly.
"When I saw their face, the one that carries the cow print pillow, I just… I felt like I was being strangled. I couldn't breathe- it was… awful." You whispered, voice wavering as your bottom lip quivered. Tears formed and threatened to fall down your cheeks.
You were so emotionally exhausted, you were honestly surprised that you had enough in your tear ducts to form anything at all.
Lucifer's breath hitches in his throat as he presses his face against the wall. His brothers were standing in a similar fashion across the room, all of them standing by the same brown wall painted the shade of dark chocolate; they all struggled to stick around to listen to the rest of what you were saying but it was like they were sailors caught in a particularly rough storm, hypnotized by a siren's song.
They couldn't pull away to save themselves from the heartache.
Belphegor whimpered quietly near the corner of the room, ear still pressed up to be able to more clearly hear what you were saying. Beelzebub grimaced; hearing his twin feel anything aside from happiness made him want to tear down whatever was upsetting the seventh-born but he was caught in the middle. He loved you, absolutely adored you and seeing you under so much stress and fear makes him want to leave the Devildom in ruins to find whoever did this to you but he was in denial.
All he had to do was look in a mirror to see the monster that took away your happiness.
Diavolo rounded the table and sat across from you in a similar loveseat, eyebrows knitted together with a sympathetic look on his face, "Hush, (MC). You do not need to tell me anything in detail. I know it must be difficult to deal with any of this. Say, how did Solomon or Simeon explain your current situation?"
You nodded slowly and told the Crowned Prince, in depth, how your guardians explained everything to you.
Simeon handed you a cup with hot chocolate as you snuggled into a pile of blankets and pillows. Your entire body was engulfed in the quilted material, save for your face that you poked out from under the makeshift cubby. You were all gathered in the living room upon Luke's late night request of pulling an all-nighter with all four of you involved to find some sense of normality in a situation so… scary. Apparently before the accident, you and the three boys had gotten matching pajamas made with your initials embroidered in gold into the breast pocket. The styles were exactly the same but you all had your pajamas made in your favorite colors. You all donned on the complete sets with the matching sleep caps that night.
Luke was cuddled up to your right, a baby's sippy cup in his hands as he pouted at the older angel. According to Simeon, Luke tended to get sleepy after a cup of cocoa and because of it, the fledgling angel was made to drink lukewarm cocoa from an obnoxious purple sippy cup with tiny versions of popular kid's show characters scribbled on the plastic.
"You act like I'm a toddler!" Luke cried; you didn't miss the tiny "In a way, you kind of are." that came out in a whisper from Simeon's lips. You giggle to yourself as you watch Solomon mess around with the TV settings.
A few hours pass and you've watched a total of 3 movies, all of which had PG ratings and came from the human world. You were kind of going crazy from all the musical numbers and the underlying lessons the movies had. Be a good person, be a hero, learn to share— you gritted your teeth as you smiled and Luke started clapping after a particularly "heavy" scene. (You were all watching Wreck-It-Ralph and Luke was weeping during the scene where Ralph decided to sacrifice himself for the greater-good.)
Taking a short break from the movies, you all sit in a circle as you talk about anything and everything. One conversation led to another and that led to you nervously asking about the accident.
"Hey Solomon, Simeon… What happened to me?"
"They told me that… I lost my memory of almost the last two years from an accident I went through when I was practicing magic. Apparently I touched a- uh, I think it was a cursed grimoire and I had chanted the incantation on the top. I accidentally made myself lose my memories." You say with hesitation. Diavolo hummed in thought.
That's what they went with?
He nodded slowly and with a flick of his wrist, you see a small, worn out book emerge from under the desk. You hear the soft thud of wood hitting you and surmise that he managed to open his desk drawer with magic. You couldn't stop the amazed gasp that escaped your lips. Diavolo smiles this watery smile. “We hung out a lot here in my office before the accident. You loved seeing all of us use our magic, as you liked to call it, and I guess some things never change.” He teases lightly, eyes locked onto pages. He flipped through the book, seemingly searching for something in particular.
The book in his hands was slightly dusty and the pages were a shade of dark yellow, it seemed to be older than you were. He stops halfway into flipping through the pages, eyes scanning text written in a language you were unfamiliar with. “I had Barbatos, my butler, go through books and books of methods to get your memory back and… well, it’s a difficult process. (MC)... your memory loss wasn’t self-inflicted…” He trailed off, voice faltering when he looked at you.
Your happy expression fades and you can feel your heart thrum wildly with an emotion you couldn’t name. Fear? No, not quite. You can only describe it as confusion, “No, Simeon and Solomon said…”
Diavolo holds a hand up, frown etched on his face, “I apologize for what I’m about to spring on you but Simeon and Solomon lied to you. Before you get upset with them, they had their reasons, (MC), they were simply trying to protect you—” He stops mid-sentence, seeing your eyes fill with panic and… anger.
You’ve been lied to over and over… over and over?
You didn’t understand the sudden anger overcoming you; it was as if a dam broke in your heart and the rapids were rushing down to consume you in your entirety. You couldn’t grasp why you were angry, nothing made sense as you sobbed dryly, hand shooting up to cover your mouth, “They told me I did this… I caused my memory loss… Yuki said the same thing…” You whispered.
Your eyes were wide with pure, unadulterated anger and confusion and… above all, Diavolo could physically see the disappointment. That hurt more than anything else. The ancient book fell to the ground, the sound was deafening to your ears. He’s quick to grab your hands before you could try to tear your hair out, “They had to, (MC)! I- I told them to do this for you!—” A sharp sting shoots from his cheek as his head turns to the side.
You slapped him.
Ragged breathing filled the air and two hearts stayed bubbling with extreme emotions. One full of sorrow whilst the other was filled with anger, “You all lied to me. You’re… You’re all in on it.” You scoffed, salty tears slipping past your lips; your tongue tingles lightly from the taste. You’ve cried so much…
You’re just tired.
You harshly push past the Crowned Prince, turning to walk out the door, “Lord Diavolo, do me a favor: All of you need to stay away from me. You, Yuki, those demons that caused this, even the boys in Purgatory Hall. I… I need some time to process this.” You turn the golden knob, the etching in the metal feels cold in your grasp.
You slam the door behind you before you break out into a run.
You ran; You ran and ran and ran out of the building and through the grounds of the school. Demons of different forms from different classes eyed you, some eyes were confused, other eyes were glaring but it all felt too much. You needed to get out of here. Your lungs burned from the air you breathed in and from all the heaving you did. You were surprised you didn’t vomit.
Blurry eyes and tired feet. You didn’t realize you managed to get past the school gates; you didn’t hear Yuki yelling from behind you before she lost you in the crowd that passed. You shuddered as you sobbed; you just felt so tired and it was just so frustrating to not know anything. The people you trusted the most, the people you depended on to explain things to you again, the people you expected to tell you the truth were the very people that lied to you, the people who hid things from you.
You found yourself in a wooded area just beyond the school grounds, there were no demons, no holy beings, no humans— no one to hurt you here. You drop to your knees as you cry; you scream into your hands as you kneeled. You teeter on the line of delusion and reality. What you would give to take the pain away. Your heart hurt and felt heavy in your chest..
Broken spirits normally attract evil spirits in the human realm. Urban legends from all cultures are born from tales mothers used to tell to keep their children in line but in a realm full of demons, full of the despicable beings that your silly human tales revolve around, does a broken soul attract attention?
You felt a hand grip your shoulder tenderly, “(MC)?” That voice…
Merihem.
A demon stands above a pathetic little human; a human so broken and vulnerable. Tired, dreary eyes look up at the man in all black, his face seemed nice enough, they deluded themself into believing. Tired, dreary eyes look into his blackened soul and he feels a delicious shiver run down his spine, Tired and dreary, tired and dreary— blood rushes down south. He licks his lips; teeth sharpened into fangs dig into his chapped lips, hard enough that they draw blood.
“Come, (MC). I’m here. Tell me how I can help.” He kneels beside you, eyeing the black necklace laying cold against your neck. It doesn’t shift colors, his hands snake down your waist with ease. He smirks.
You shiver in his grasp, eyes fluttering and fighting to stay open as he hands you a light blue handkerchief. What a nice demon… You blow your nose into the soft fabric. It smelt sickeningly sweet with tones of a chemical scent. You felt dizzy.
Your vision fills with beautiful gold and black dots before you fall limp in Merihem’s arms.
Tired little breakable human, in the arms of a big strong demon.
The day fades into night and the cold winds are starting to pick up the fallen leaves on the ground; the student council, with the help of the exchange students, had been searching for you for hours on end. You were like a magnet for danger, you were so spunky and headstrong and at times, you were put into danger from your own stubbornness—
This was one of those times. Though as faint as small footsteps in the sand at the beach, your pacts with them were still there. They’d feel for you, touching the pact mark every so often to feel your heartbeat.
It was slow but it was there; you were holding on.
The brothers were hopeful but deep down, they were expecting the very worst to have happened to you. You seemed unlike yourself from their constant checking of your vitals. You seemed weak. They were holding onto any sense of hope— they held out for you. Beelzebub and Belphegor paired up and they searched the fields for you; the brothers knew you were still alive. Beelzebub’s sense of smell was keener than other demons, including his brothers, and he’d been searching for your scent. You smelt sweet, not sickeningly so, and you didn’t seem like a dessert, you hadn’t seemed like a meal for months now; you were like a festival night in summertime. He caught the slightest of whiffs from the forest, a place he’s quite familiar with because of his Fangol training.
He grabbed Belphegor’s arm and broke out into a sprint, “Guys, I think they’re here.” He bellowed, catching the attention of those who were also searching for you.
Into the woods they all went.
They looked everywhere; in the trees, in small holes in the ground— they were about to lose hope in searching for you and the Devildom Moon rose to the skies, the blood red light gleaming down at them sickened them to the depths of their beings.
Then they find you… with Merihem.
They stop running to you, eyeing the being holding you close to his chest, a devious smile on the offending demon’s face, “Well, well, look who we all have here! The student council and the exchange students! How absolutely… wonderful.” Lucifer steps forward, body threatening to break out into his demon form but he keeps a lid on his emotions for now, “Merihem? You’re behind all this?” He spits out, venom lacing every syllable.
Yuki glances between Merihem and the eldest of the Avatars, “You know him?” Mammon pulled her as she tried making a run towards you, “Yuki stop it! Listen here, Merihem’s dangerous. He… He’s tried to get into the student council for years now— He’s killed other demons for a chance to even be considered.” Mammon explains quietly.
Merihem’s smile turns into more of him baring his teeth at the group. He pulls on the clasp at the front of his coat and he takes it off. He hums to himself as he takes his sweet time wrapping your limp body in his clothing. He then takes off his school coat, leaving him in his black undershirt. He was a strange looking fellow. He’s as tall as Lucifer and his body’s built in a similar way but… the scars littering every inch of his body was a sight. He’s covered in fresh and old wounds, many of the fresher wounds have scabbed over. The wounds were all of varying degrees of scary but they were all long and deep, reminiscent of wounds from the talons of… other demons. He cracks his knuckles and smiles this sinister smile directly at Yuki, “You like what you see eh, human?”
Mammon growls at him.
Merihem snarls at the second-born, “Give it a fucking break, Mammon. I don’t care about your precious little human girl. I got what I want right here.” He purrs, arms tightening around you. He’s coddled you, wrapped you up like a little baby in his coat. Your cheeks were tear-stained and your lips were pursed into a frown.
“They’re not yours, Merihem. Give them back to us lest you want to face the wrath of the strongest demons in all of Hell.” Lucifer warns lowly, blackened ash seemingly falling from his head as his horns grow atop his soft black hair. His wings unfurl slowly; the Avatar of Pride made an effort to make a show to somewhat frighten the demon sitting before him.
It works the way he plans but Merihem doesn’t budge.
“You threw them aside! You don’t fucking deserve them, none of you do! I found them crying, in the middle of the woods, smelling so sweetly and… well, you should be glad that I’ve just been holding them in my arms. I decided that I’d rather have them the way I want them when they consent. I could’ve indulged in my depravity—” Strong black wings knock the air out of Merihem’s lungs, the demon goes flying before his back makes harsh contact with the trunk of an old red oak tree. He hears his bones snap from the pressure;
He cries out in pain.
You were sent tumbling out of Merihem’s hold, your body unwrapping from the gross fabric of the creep’s coat, “(M-MC)!” Leviathan sprints to you, engulfing your smaller form in his; the shy otaku front he always had melts away under the severity of the situation, the dorky Levi you adored replaced with the Grand Admiral of Hell’s Navy. Almost simultaneously, all the brothers transformed into their more sinister demon forms, not quite their final, true forms for Yuki’s sanity but they were close.
Leviathan gingerly picks you up, eyes scanning your face to look for the smallest of scratches. If that bastard dared lay a disgusting finger on your precious head, he’d see to the demon’s demise personally…
That is if there was anything left to torture after his older brothers are done with him.
Leviathan’s gaze was hard as he stared directly at Yuki, “Come with me.” He beckons, marching back towards the direction of the school. The remaining brothers watched as Lucifer slowly made his way to Merihem’s twitching form under the shade of the tree; Yuki glanced back and forth but before she could choose to stay, Satan’s tail latched itself onto her waist to fling her in Leviathan’s direction. Not too hard to have her falling but done with enough strength to give her a little warning.
“Go, Yuki.” He seemingly said. She runs after you and the third born.
Leviathan sprints off, glancing behind him every once in a while to ensure that Yuki was trailing behind. He made his way back home, arms and legs burning from the sudden exercise he had to do after seemingly millenia. He ignored the dull pain as he laid you down on the couch in the middle of the common room. Yuki locks the front door behind her, pulling on the many latches to ensure your trio’s safety for the time being.
You were cold, skin pale and breathing shallow. Leviathan takes your body and props it up slightly, looking for any and all indicators of potential… abuse. He takes his sweet time scanning every inch of your skin, well… the skin exposed and wasn’t too inappropriate. He and Yuki sat silently together, just tending to you for a solid half an hour or so. They warmed you up, patted your skin with wet tissue and towels to free you from the dirt you basically laid in for hours. Nothing came up on your limbs and your torso from what he could see, thank the fucking stars…
He would’ve relaxed but then… he made it to your neck and he saw the ugly purplish bruises forming on your supple skin.
That fucking bastard.
Yuki was kneeling by the couch at that point and as she stared at the ugly trail on your neck. She felt a cold gust of wind blow past her, almost knocking her over. She looked over at the demon beside her and she felt the coldest chill run through her body; Leviathan’s eyes were blazing with anger she’s never seen in him before. His body twitches ever so slightly before a large scaly tail erupts from behind him. She’s witnessed their demonic transformations before but something was different this time.
His tail was triple in size, the normal smooth and shiny snake-like scales were now bumpy and uneven and gleamed like an angler fish's bright light in the deepest depths of the unexplored waters. His antler-like horns were twisted and curved, brushing lower than before and curving just by his eyes. His fangs, before were on the stubbier side, were elongated and seemed to drip with a yellow venom she’s never seen before. It smelt salty like the ocean.
Yuki closed her eyes, heart racing in her chest as overwhelming fear filled her to the brim with a single glance at the creature that stood before her.
“How fucking dare he.” Was all she heard before she heard glass shatter; she screams and buries her face into your forearm.
She lets a moment pass; radio silence. She slowly lifts her head up to glance around. The common room had one window on the side that faces the tiny garden at the side of the house. It was made of hundreds of small pieces of stained glass that when looked at in one specific angle, formed the number seven in roman numerals. The once pristine mosaic was shattered, the shards were glimmering on the floor and a part of the actual window frame was missing.
Whatever Leviathan turned into had taken out quite a bit of the wall of the house.
A piece of a wooden beam that hung loosely from the break suddenly fell, crashing against the lower part of the glass- shattering it some more. Yuki winced at the loud sound but the ruckus seemed to prove to be an effective method of waking a sleeping person up as you shot up from the couch, your breathing sounding erratic. Yuki scrambles to sit up and wraps her arms around you, “(MC)!” She cried.
She didn’t expect you to push her off of you.
She blinked, “Wh- (MC), it’s me. I’m Yuki, remember?” She whispered meekly; she moved to grab your hand to try and soothe you but you simply pulled away with visible disgust. You remain silent for a minute or so, processing the day you had before you sighed, “I know who you are, okay? I remember everything.” You say tiredly. You glance around the room but your puffy eyes lock onto the pile of rubble and glass that Leviathan left in his wake.
“Where are the others? Where’s Merihem?”
“He’s been taken care of. I see you’re awake now, my dear.” A voice says from the doorway. Barbatos stands with an unreadable expression once again, but if you look closely, you’d see the smallest of frowns etched on his composed face. “... Barbatos. It’s nice to see you again.” You say monotonously.
For the first time since the start of this whole situation, you catch him by surprise.
You see the group of men that stood around behind the butler, you feel your head throb suddenly. They all shuffle over to you in a single line, heads hung low as you sat motionless on the couch. The demon brothers, the boys over in Purgatory Hall, the Prince and his demon butler- how sweet, everyone was present. They reeked of blood and burnt flesh; you decide to feign ignorance.
You stand up, wincing slightly at the exhaustion you felt all of the sudden, but you were thrown back down to the couch by Luke. You stare at him, surprised, “Oh, (MC)! I was so worried about you! I’m sorry I wasn’t able to protect you from that meanie! W-We saw the Avatars on their way here and I-” He gasps in the middle of his sentence, the boy was fully crying into your lap as you raked your fingers through his blonde locks, “I- I’m sorry I wasn’t able to protect you. I’m an angel, I’m su-supposed to- I-” He weeped, unable to finish his sentence as you hushed him.
Oh, Luke…
“I’m not mad at you, Luke. Don’t worry. Listen, run up to my room here. You know which one, right? I’ll be with you in a bit, alright?” You whisper to the boy, walking him over to the door. He didn’t fight against you, he simply nodded and balled his fists as he waddled up the steps to the direction of your room. When he disappears from view, you shut the door to the common room and lock it.
You stare at the lock and tighten your grip on the handle, “I was under the impression that I could trust you all. You’d be able to protect me from anything because… that’s what you all promised me, right?” You stand still where you stood, you don’t turn back to look at them.
The boys you’ve grown to love all fidget nervously. Yuki remains frozen on the floor.
“I- You all lied to me. You told me I caused my own amnesia. The curse broke when Merihem tried to… He tried to force himself onto me. I was frozen, in his arms. He held me for hours, he kissed me and tried to touch me but… He couldn’t. I’ll give you that, Solomon. Your necklace came in handy.” You turn to look at all of them and they see your red eyes and matching nose.
You tried not to cry in front of them.
“Darling- (MC), we never meant for this to happen-”
“Yeah, we’d never want you to get hurt”
“I apologize for our shortcomings, (MC).”
“I should’ve known that a gross otaku like me could never protect you…”
“You coulda summoned me, (MC)...”
“Sorry, (MC)... I failed to protect you.”
“Sorry…”
Drip, drip, drip. Tears drip down your face, down to the dark wood flooring. What to do? Could forgiveness still be an option? Maybe moving on would be best?

During a moment of complete panic, your vision is clouded; like a smoke machine whirring in your face, making you practically blinded to everything else. All you can focus on is your fear. All you can hear is the wild beating of your heart in your chest. Solomon has lived for millenia, outliving his friends, his lovers, his followers- he has experienced every possible emotion in the book, as one does when living with the curse of immortality. He’s grieved over countless deaths, he’s felt afraid for his own life. You’d think that it’d numb after a while. He knows exactly what timeline he’s in, he’s seen the choices made and the choices that will be made, thanks in part to Barbatos. He knows.
Knowing doesn’t make fear any less intense.
Seeing you in a state almost catatonic, seemingly so close to death, has his blood running cold. He hears the knock at the door, he knows who stands beyond the hard wood. He knows everything- Is this what Barbatos deals with everyday? What a difficult life to live. The knocking grew intense but it sounded muddled in his ears; almost as if he heard it through a wall of water.
Simeon moves from beside him, gingerly stepping away from you so as to not to bother you. The angel’s eyes were blue blazing hot coals at a fireplace; his anger seems unprecedented. He’s never seen the side of Simeon, but the minute he looks back at you, his eyes are soft like the clouds in the Celestial Realm.
The angel clad in white hurriedly opens the door and his glare hardens more when he sees the demon brothers looking around nervously, “You’re not allowed to be here.” He practically growls. Lucifer stands his ground, standing at the front of the group with a letter in hand. Wordlessly, he hands Simeon the piece of paper, letting him take his time to read and process every single word. Behind the eldest, the 6 other brothers were on the brink of meltdown; looking like atrocious messes, they all donned on their pajamas and their states were obviously frazzled. Any demon in the vicinity could smell the fear reeking from the group.
“Solomon.” Simeon spat out, teeth bared like fangs as he sped off back to your room. He left the door open.
Never leave the door open lest you want demons to enter.
Solomon had resigned himself to stroking your cheek, breathing ragged as he stared down at you, “Oh, (MC). “ His voice sounded watery, to match his eyes swimming with unshed tears. Barbatos, I wonder how you manage to do this every single day. The sorcerer glances at the tiny clock on your vanity, the long hand ticking so slowly he feels as though it’s mocking him.
3:28 A.M. 2 more minutes. 2 minutes before the timeline is set.
Right on cue, Simeon bursts through the door, practically foaming at the mouth with anger, and he’s followed quickly by the Demon Brothers. Strange, he read in the file that Yuki would be with them. Lucifer slowly approached the sorcerer, who refused to look up at him as he held your cold frame close, “Solomon, please let us give this to (MC). We have to at least try.” Pride’s voice was soft, unlike his normal snappy tone the sorcerer was used to hearing. It was almost as if the demon representing Pride was… begging. Solomon looks up at him, eyes still brimmed with salty tears as he lets out a bitter laugh, “We’re too late, Lucifer. I’m sorry-”
“Wait! Please! Solomon!” Yuki.
Unsteady feet beat against the hardwood floor of Purgatory Hall; the sorcerer sees Yuki run in with Diavolo and Barbatos. Ah, that’s the signal, I suppose. The long hand moves so slowly, but it shows the time.
3:30 A.M.
Solomon wept silently, holding you close before the necklace on your chest breaks out in a cacophony of colors; first blue, then yellow, followed by orange, then green, then pink and as it flashed red and purple at the same time, your body started shaking violently. Not in the way possessions occur in movies but it almost seemed like you were freezing.
The necklace shatters on your neck, leaving behind nothing but dust.
Your eyes crack open, your chest heaving violently as you gasped; the fear traveling in your veins was too much. Diavolo and Barbatos pulled to take Solomon away from your side and the sorcerer all but moved along like a puppet on strings. What’s done is done. You blink slowly, breathing sporadically as you grasp at your face. You sit up and eye everyone in the room, eyes full of fear as you slowly back away into a corner of the room.
“W-Who are you?”
Yuki’s the first to break down in tears after Solomon; she bites back the ugly sob threatening to escape her as she turns away. The Avatars of Sin were all silent, spirits seemingly downcast as they watched you with remorseful eyes. Simeon stood by Lord Diavolo, eyes flaming with anger and defiance, as if tempting the Prince to a fight over a single question,
“What is going on?!” He grits his teeth.
You tuck your knees to your chest as you shake like a leaf, who were these people?! You had not a clue of who they were or where you were; this wasn’t even your bed! You glance at all their faces and all you can feel is a sickening sense of fear and torment.
“Who the fuck are you? What do you want with me?! P-Please just… leave me alone.” You croak out.
Your pacts with the brothers were fading, they felt it evidently so and their panic took too much of their attention to realize that though they were faded, that didn’t mean you had no control over them. One by one, the brothers filed out of the room, legs moving on their own as they marched out of the house. Solomon approaches you cautiously, earning a scared whimper from you that breaks his heart. He dared not touch you in this state, instead he put his hand out. He chants an ancient spell and slowly, your limbs drop to your side as you curl up into a dreamless slumber.
The remaining few in the room shared a glance before coming to an unspoken agreement.
A council meeting was to be held immediately.
Diavolo sat at one of the ends of the table, his seat much larger than the rest; As the Prince, he could command a room with one nod or quirk of his eyebrow. The rest of the group were scattered randomly, the rest of the student council members weren’t seated where they normally sat. Everyone was tense as they stared at the only empty seat. Your seat, they dared not try to occupy it.
“Can someone please explain this stupid letter?” Yuki asked, exasperated as she tossed the letter to the middle of the table. Solomon, having kept his gaze trained on the table, looked up for the first time since they all came and he felt so… small under the group’s scrutiny. The most powerful sorcerer in all of history was shivering in his boots from the judgement he felt.
“I… I had asked Lucifer for the letter. I’m not quite sure who it’s from, it wasn’t signed-” As Solomon spoke, Asmodeus pushed himself out of his seat, tears running down his face as he hiccupped, “How do you know it wasn’t signed? You haven’t even glanced at the disgusting thing!” He cried.
Lucifer was glaring at him, eyes so deadly that he felt like the demon was drilling holes into the deepest depths of his soul. “How did you know that it was in my possession in the first place? You called me up at this strange hour, telling me something so ominous-” Images of you in Simeon’s arms, looking so lifeless were burned into his mind. He was sure they would haunt him for a long time after this. The eldest sat in his chair defeatedly, “You knew exactly what was about to take place. You knew, Solomon. Why didn’t you try to stop it?” He asked tiredly.
“It is because we had agreed on it, Lucifer.” Diavolo said. Silence befalls the group, with the exception of Yuki’s chair screeching against the flooring. The girl walks over to Diavolo, arm raised and before she could even strike the Prince across the face, Barbatos grabs her forearm tenderly, “Please wait for the Young Lord’s explanation.” He says, his normal smile replaced with a sad frown. Yuki falls to the ground slowly, weeping silently as Barbatos wrapped his arms comfortingly around her, “My Lord, they all deserve an explanation.” He said softly as he rubbed circles on Yuki’s back.
With a sigh, Diavolo folded his arms on the table, “As you all may know, I’ve worked hard on this little passion project of mine. I had set out to strengthen the relationships of all Three Realms; I wanted to lead our generation and all future generations into a world where we can all live in harmony. Our first year went marvelously, thanks to (MC). They were tasked with doing so much for all of us and they did everything without question. They managed to live past certain… traumatic incidents that other humans would’ve surely lost their minds to. They learnt to love you, for all your flaws, for what you stood for.” The Prince slowly rises from his seat, eyes shifting from one Avatar to the other but never once shying away from their gazes.
“With how well the first year went, I thought that another year of the exchange program would only bring about a stronger bond. A stronger sense of family in the House of Lamentation. Yuki was a stellar candidate but I would’ve never taken her into the Devildom had I not known of (MC) and Solomon’s plans on coming back. At first I expected your resistance, I wouldn’t put it past you all to try and rebel against my idea but you took her in with open arms. Perhaps (MC) was an even better influence on you all than I thought but after a while, things took a turn.” Diavolo stalked around the room, walking by each Avatar. His presence was one that demanded attention, he walked with such an air of dignity and power that you’d be a fool not to hang off of every word he spoke.
He frightened the Avatars, even if they deny it.
“You were tasked with watching over both Yuki and (MC) but you decide that one is enough and you all slowly start leaving (MC) out of everything you did. They never once got angry, never once complained or tattled, no, they protected you through and through. Yes, you’re all demons, beings formed from the basis of all forms of Sin but I must say, even this is too low for you. I never once imagined that a group so obsessed with family could turn against a person who loved them so.” Diavolo’s voice grew darker with each syllable that left his mouth, his steps grew heavier and his gaze glinted with what can only be described as murderous intent.
“I had Barbatos look through every timeline, we can only hope for their forgiveness for this but what we saw only further strengthened our belief that… You, the Avatars of Sin, do not deserve them. I try not to play favorites amongst my exchange students but (MC) has captivated me in the way they captivated you. In all the timelines we saw, these are the timelines where (MC) chooses to forgive you.” From under the desk, the Prince pulls out three thin files.
Three files, only three chances.
“After putting them under Solomon’s care, I decided that enough was enough. You are not allowed to mistreat any of the exchange students that have and will walk the Devildom invited in the name of strengthening bonds. As punishment, I have told you all that you will not be allowed to approach (MC) without their permission, of course, and the permission of Solomon or Simeon. One early morning, I asked Solomon to meet with me because Barbatos had completed his tasks. We read through each file and agreed on narrowing down to five possible timelines. We have been pulling strings to ensure that you all made the decisions that would ultimately affect your relationships with (MC). We left their future in your hands and once again, you all acted selfishly. You acted for your own happiness, for your own pleasure and this is what resulted.” Diavolo’s gaze was pointed, he stared directly at his Right Hand Man. Lucifer couldn’t hold his stare.
“D- Lord Diavolo, does that mean you know who wrote the letter?” Mammon asked, voice wavering. Solomon glanced at the Avatar of Greed before reluctantly nodding, “We’ve known for a while.” At lightning speed, Mammon flies across the room to grip Solomon's neck. Horns poked through the mop of silver hair on his head, his wings beating angrily behind him as he lifted the sorcerer in the air,
“What kind of guardian are you?”
“Mammon, enough. Put him down.” Lucifer commanded. His other brothers were somewhat pleading with Mammon as well, specifically Asmodeus, but there was reluctance in their voices. In the same way you’d reject an attractive stranger hitting on you in a club. The, “Aw, no… but I wouldn’t mind if you continue...” tone of voice.
With a low growl, Mammon lowers himself back on the ground, his grip on the sorcerer loosening when his feet grazed the marble flooring. Solomon gasps for air, his knees going weak for a moment but all he did was stumble; he was definitely not going to fall on the floor in front of Mammon of all demons. “I know you’re angry but quite frankly, you have no right to blame Solomon. You pushed them away.” Simeon says, grabbing the attention of the group from the heaving sorcerer. He stares the Demon Prince down, nostrils flaring as he sighs, “ I do not condone any of the actions you both have agreed on, believe me when I say that I’m infuriated, but I can see why you chose to do this. Somehow, someway, you left the future in their hands and they messed up again.” The angel stands by Solomon, rubbing circles on his back as he slowly guides him back to the table.
“My Lord, if the timeline has been set, is there any way we can make it up to them? They… They don’t deserve this.” Lucifer breathed out; he eyed his brothers, their faces wore physical evidence of lethargy and panic.
“You’ll have to get them to trust you again. When they see you, they feel fear and panic and… disgust. Get them to trust you and find out who did this. We have an inkling but we need evidence before we can lock them up in the dungeons.” Diavolo states.
They’re back to square one with you.
You woke up in the same ivory room decorated with trinkets that you held close to your heart; your mother’s necklace, an expensive looking hairbrush someone gifted you, those kinds of little knick knacks. You saw polaroid photos hanging on the walls on twine of faces you couldn’t quite put names on. You stared at your feet, your skin tone clashing a beautiful contrast against the satin sheets. The mirror on “your” vanity was chipped and cracked, not fully broken but you couldn’t bear to look at the multitude of reflections of you that stared back. You didn’t feel at home but you didn’t fully feel like you were abducted.
You just simply… were.
A soft knock echoes from the door and you flinch, hands grabbing hastily at the sheets to cover your body from whoever or whatever stood on the other side of the door. The door clicks open and in walks a tiny blonde child clad in white and blue pajamas. “(M-MC)!” He cried, rushing over to wrap his arms around you.
You didn’t feel scared, you didn’t know this child but… He seemed to care deeply about you and he made you feel safe somehow.
“I-I’m sorry but… Who are you? How do you know who I am? I woke up and I was surrounded by a bunch of strange men. They were so… scary. Please help me, I… I’m scared.” You whispered. The blonde boy falters, arms loosening around you quickly as he stares up at you in disbelief. Have you really forgotten them? His lip quivers ever so slightly, “What do you mean? (MC), t-this isn’t funny! Did those demons put you up to this?! Did Simeon ask you to help him with another one of his mean jokes?!”
Demons?
Who on God’s Green Earth is Simeon?
Before you could even ask, you noticed a tall figure standing in the doorway. You quickly pulled the blonde close to you and you let out this blood curdling scream. “Get away!” You yelled, moving the boy behind you.
Simeon stood in the doorway, watching you both silently but then… you see him. Hearing your scream of pure terror put him into a state of panic himself and he didn’t know how to soothe your fear.
He watched as you protected Luke, from a person you didn’t know and, for all he knew, someone you feared. His heart warmed seeing your heroism but it ached all the same.
You really didn’t know who they were.
“(MC), please, please calm down. My name is Simeon and… and we’re really good friends! You… got into an accident. You forgot me but don’t worry I- umph!” The poor angel was cut off when you threw a pillow into his face.
This was going to be quite the process.
You sat hesitantly on the opposite side of Simeon, your arms still tightly wound around the blonde, who you found out was a friend of yours named Luke. Simeon told you that you, him, Luke, and another man named Solomon all lived together before the accident, as he so ominously put it. He wouldn’t budge no matter how badly you begged for even the smallest detail regarding the thing that caused you to forget them all. You sighed as you hugged Luke, “I’m sorry for… forgetting.”
Oh, MC. You’ll be the death of them.
A man clad in this beautiful coat walks in and since Simeon and Luke seemed okay with his presence, you chalked him up to be the Solomon in their stories. In the memories you used to share.
“I see you’ve explained it all to (MC)? I’m glad to see that you’re awake.” He greets you gently; you noticed how he kept his distance, unlike Simeon or Luke who’ve been rather touchy and cuddly. “You’re Solomon, right? Hello um… come sit with us.” You say, patting the spot on the bed beside you.
You four sat and enjoyed each other’s company the rest of that dawn, the night turning to day as the sun rose to indicate a new beginning.
It had been about a week since your memories were taken away from you by a selfish demon. Lord Diavolo, with the help of the Avatars of Sin and the other exchange students worked day in and day out to ensure that you were comfortable through the entire thing. You were able to grasp the concept of the Three Realms with surprising ease, perhaps the demon who cursed you had worried about your sanity… How sweet? Your schooling was halted for the time being, each demon that entered the school grounds was heavily monitored but nothing seemed out of place… That was until you finally went back to school.
You had recently been re-acquainted with Yuki, the other human exchange student. She seemed quite… expressive when you first met her. When you first spoke with the boys in Purgatory Hall, you weren’t scared, if anything the trio made you feel extremely comfortable and safe.
With Yuki, you felt this sense of dread- as if you were afraid that she’d hurt you. You shook that feeling off and slowly, it faded like a shade of gray on a black and white painting.
It sort of just disappeared with enough time.
Yuki grabbed your bag from your arms, the girl had insisted on practically babying you the moment you first spoke. You sighed and simply went along with it; if you could keep note of just one thing about the girl, you’d say that she was incredibly stubborn regarding anything she put her mind to.
Simeon and Solomon had pulled you aside earlier that morning to warn you about a group of demons, seven to be exact, who would make their presence known to you. Simeon was adamant about having you promise to steer clear of them but when the protective angel wasn’t paying attention, the sorcerer had asked you to hear them out.
Solomon watched as Simeon scurried off to Luke’s room after hearing the younger angel whine about the hat he was told to wear as part of his uniform. Apparently it was a particularly bad hat day. He grasped at your arm and pulled you close to the heavily locked front door. “I know Simeon and I just instructed you one thing but if you could find it in your heart to listen to whatever those demons have to say… I’m sure it’d be worth your while. I promise that no harm will come your way.” He says, slowly moving to stand behind you. You felt his fingers brush along the exposed skin of your neck, his hands shaking slightly as he clipped something on you.
On your chest lay a pretty black stone attached to a simple gold chain.
Your fingers messed with the orb that knocked against your clavicle with each jolly step. What had Solomon meant with what he said? “Find it in your heart to listen”? He’s a strange sorcerer indeed.
Lost in thought you bumped into a figure dressed in a uniform similar to yours. A bag slung over his shoulder, he fixes the big black coat that hung on his figure, “Watch where you’re going- Oh. You’re that human exchange student… (MC) right? I could’ve sworn we've bumped into each other before. My name’s Merihem.” His voice was low, he sounded seductive in all honesty. He stuck his hand out for you, a toothy grin on his face.
He looked nice enough so… you took his hand.
With a firm shake, you fail to notice the way his eyes rake over your body hungrily. You glance over to where Yuki was heading and see that the girl was now booking it back to you like a frantic mother looking for her child, “(MC)! I thought you were walking behind me! I look away for two seconds and you’re left alone! I told you to stick beside me!” She yelled, arms flailing around to try and get her point across. You eyed Merihem; something about him seems off.
Yuki sniffs the air and gagged; it smelt like rancid, kind of like battery acid.
“Right, sorry about that, Yuki. I’ll… see you around then, Merihem.” You wave goodbye to your new demon acquaintance and you get pulled off by Yuki. Something about that demon rubbed the human girl the wrong way and her gut told her to get the both of you away from him as soon as possible.
You miss the way Merihem heaves like a dog in heat when you leave.
At the gates of RAD, you spot a group of seven demons greeting every single student that walks by… Well, greet is a loose word to describe what they were doing. They all seemingly checked everything about all the passing demons; from their bags to the tiniest hairs of their body.
They worked quite efficiently, you had to hand it to them.
The closer you approached, the more detail you saw with these demons. Something about them seemed so familiar. You couldn’t put a finger on it. You saw the ravenette bark out orders; he’s the man in-charge. One of the demons wore their uniform quite untidily and you watched in amusement as they grabbed change from the pockets of one of the demons they were searching. His hands were fast. You eyed each of them but one guy in particular caught your attention.
He carried around a cow-print pillow, that in itself was a strange thing to do in public but when he turns in your direction, your heart plummets. Your chest constricts and you have a hard time breathing. Something about his face brought about fear that you've never felt before. You need to escape before you pass out.
You thought it was bad but then you two make eye contact.
You fell down to the ground with a loud scream, drawing the attention of all seven. Your mind hurts with the flashes of what you can only describe as your biggest nightmare. Bony hands gripping at your neck, a sinister maniac laughing as your vision grew hazy. Cow print.
Seven pairs of feet beat against the ground, footsteps grew louder as yelling rings in your ears like white noise.
“(MC)!”

Ohhh - this chapter hurts so good -
Like, sharp stings of realization that Yuki and MC are not the same in any stretch. Them finding out that Yuki had feelings for MC and it's why she'd reacted how she did.
Them falling away to their unhealthy coping mechanisms is also a perfect reminder in which it tells them what they lost again and again
And my baby Sage??? Apart of a meme-y groupchat with Yuki and MC?
//chef's kiss
Perfection.

A real idiot. That was what Lucifer believed himself to be. Not all the time, but at the moment he might as well be wearing clown makeup and that ridiculous rainbow afro.
“Lucifer, I need to talk to you. It’s about your brothers, I’d like to express my concerns with you so we could work it out.”
The tense memory of Diavolo’s stern voice played again and again in Lucifers thick skull. How could he be so stupid?
“I know you’re trying your best to keep your brothers in line, but so far, it’s almost like… and I regret that I must put this harshly— it’s almost like you’ve done nothing.”
Lucifer cringed. His mind running with regret, stress and anger. He’s finally slipped up— He’d finally commited the act he’s feared the most: Disappooint Diavolo.
The pride demon had been minding his own business, sorting misplaced files in Lord Diavolo’s study, as requested. He always knew that Diavolo was like a ticking time bomb, a man could only have so much patience. He’s tried very hard to keep his brothers in check, yes, but it looks like he’s run out of time. Fire only reaches you quicker if you don’t move.
Lucifer felt as if he was going insane. Every time he laid eyes on one of his younger brothers he wanted to claw them into bits because of their treaterous misbehavior, but at the same time he just wanted to grab them by the wrist and run far, far away.
He couldn’t do that though.
He debated whether to tell them about it so that they see the sour fruitage of their foul actions… At the same time, they’d probably say something snarky towards him, not taking it seriously.
They never took anything seriously, really.
Wether it be each others feeling or even schoolwork. They never really… cared.
“Your brothers don’t understand that there is a time and place for some things, and I kind of… need you to drill it into their heads.”
“I’ve been trying to do that but they won’t—“ Lucifer slightly raised his voice.
“Lucifer.” Diavolo’s voice was steady, and collected. A calm but assertive call that made the avatar of pride shut his lips.
“Your brothers came over a week ago to come and clean as you ordered them to for punishment. Which, yes, fair enough. However, they were intsructed to be quiet, since a noble family was coming over on that same day.”
Lucifer swallowed nervously. He knew this story.
“I think you could guess that they didn’t follow any instruction.” Diavolo’s voice suddenly shifted. It became dark, and his gaze more piercing. He was getting angry.
“They even went as far as to tear the very large—“ Lucifer braced himself for what he was about to hear. ”Very expensive—“ Lucifer felt like he was about to cry. ”—and very rare painting of my father in the treasure room.”
“That crosses every line.” Lucifer nodded. His brothers didn’t tell him this part of the story. “I won’t hold you accountable for it, though. I’ll give you some more time to figure out your family problems. If you fail, however.”
“I’m going to have to… condition your brothers myself.” The larger demons voice was terrifying. Lucifer almost felt the need to drop down to his knees in pain. Diavolo was not even trying to make it sound nice anymore.
Those were the last words that Diavolo spat before turning on his heel towards the door. Barbatos was supposedly waiting outside. due to Lucifer’s recollection of hearing the butlers vouce before his senses blanked out.
His heart was violently beating against his ribs.
He wanted to die, right then and there.
He feared his own, and the safety of his family.
He needed to do something, and fast.
Lord Diavolo’s use of the word conditioning was nothing to take light-heartedly.
The avatar of pride finally admits something he thought he’d never;
He was scared.
