I hear you know a lot about sedatives. Is there anything that works really quickly and is really strong, like a movie-style instant knockout drug? I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at how un-cinematic it was when I experienced being sedated myself
Unfortunately not, or at least, not to the degree you'd hope.
The slowest method is intramuscular, which are tranquilizer darts. These aren't precise, and hit muscle to slowly inject through the fibers and eventually reach blood. They take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes, and need a counter-agent administered immediately after whatever's been done is done to ensure whatever (or whoever) was hit doesn't die to it. Sedatives are lethal, upping the strength doesn't mean they just up how fast they work, it means the risk of death by overdose is increased. So, a dart to the neck or butt wouldn't instantly send a character off to dreamland (in fact, you don't dream under sedation), and if it hits a vein or artery, that can be it for them.
The second, is intravenous sedation. This is usually used in hospitals, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Unless you're a stunning sharpshooter, you typically can't use a dart to administer this, but if your whumpee is restrained, and they're perhaps shot with a dose of paralytics before being administered this...
The third is inhalation, so that chloroform rag a whumper slapped to a whumpee's face as they struggle before falling limp for hours? Really, it would take 5 minutes (compare to the other's double digit numbers) of constant deep breathing, and only keep them under for a minute once it's removed. But, if you really want chloroform, a way you could do it is soak a fabric bag in it, and tie it over your whumpee's head, resulting in constant exposure and your whumper not having to hold a rag the entire time.
And, the quickest and most dangerous, is an injection directly into the heart. There's little research past pet euthanasia vets, which I feel speaks for itself when I say that this method is dangerous.
But, a lot of sedatives have flexible times. Some take hours, some take minutes. If you want to use a real sedative for your story, research what type it is! If you want to use a fictional one, try to base it off a real one for a certain interest to the story. I always love watching whumpees helplessly struggle as they inevitably fall asleep.
Oh, also, because I hate when people go off on a different topic and don't answer the original question itself; this is fiction, M99 is probably your ticket to insta-knocking out your character. A quarter's worth of weight can knock out a couple thousand-pounds stallion. Have fun!

◇ Whumper making a nice little show out of Whumpee picking his torture method. A bunch of things wrapped nicely, in boxes under a tree. They'll have to endure all, but they can choose and unwrap them, bound in a way that they can barely use their hands. Too tired to use this thing against whumper.
◇ Some sweet hypothermia, Whumpee slowly becoming a snowman as they're chained up against the back wall of the house, out in the blistering cold. Bonus points for White Christmas playing from inside the house. ;)

Okay but whump scenario where the whumper is forcing the whumpee to scream in order to draw out their friends.
The whumpee tied up, refusing to scream because it would spell doom for their allies. Whumper grins and says, "Oh, I'll make you scream for sure..." before they began to torture the whumpee. Beating them, slashing them up with a knife, whipping them, you name it. The whumper wants them to scream loud and clear to lure their team to the whumper.
Whumpee screaming from the pain involuntarily, tears streaming down their cheeks from both the torture and the guilt that their screams would inevitably draw out their team to their deaths.
"Shh, now. Don't fight it. Just let it happen," A whispers gently, xyr fingers tenderly caressing Bs hair as B whimpers through their gag, squirming against what restrains them, to no avail. Slowly their fight leaves them, replaced only with silent tears. "There, see? Isn't that so much easier?"
Oh how I love defiantly obedient whumpees. The ones who do what Whumper says but are full of spite. The ones who spit out the word “sir” at the end of each sentence, or wait until Whumper goes to strike before dropping to their knees. The ones who use sarcasm and humor in the worst moments, only succeeding in pissing Whumper off more. I love the ones who do as they’re told, but ensure that Whumper must fight them each step of the way.
Whumper handcuffs Whumpee’s wrists behind their back and puts the key on a chain around Whumpee’s neck, where they can’t reach it.
How do we feel about caretaker having to take whumpee prisoner because of opposing sides but they still look after them and the whumpee is like so scared and the ✨A N G S T✨

the fear in caretaker’s eyes matches the fear in whumpee’s, and all they can do is whisper “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry” under their breath as they lead them to their captors.
caretaker lightly holding whumpee’s arms behind their back: firm enough to look convincing but gently enough that it doesn’t hurt. still, they can feel whumpee trembling under their fingertips, knowing what comes next.
when whumpee is led away from caretaker, and casts one last terrified look over their shoulder, so scared and small-looking that caretaker feels their heart shattering.
caretaker watching helplessly as whumpee is brutally, mercilessly interrogated for answers caretaker knows they don’t have.
caretaker volunteers for night shift after night shift to guard whumpee. they’re woefully sleep deprived, but no one is hurting whumpee on their watch.
caretaker sneaks whumpee a little extra food and a blanket at night, after all the others have gone to sleep.
caretaker feels guilty af when they have to take the blanket back in the early morning hours before anyone wakes up - and it nearly crushes them when they see a sleeping whumpee curl up tighter as they try to retain the heat they’re losing.
caretaker finally stepping in to stop a particularly personal line of questioning: “no. stop. that’s enough.”
caretaker walks them back to their cell and secretly slips their hand into whumpee’s and gives it a squeeze. whumpee squeezes back, and caretaker doesn’t miss that whumpee holds it a beat too long before letting go.
caretaker fighting back tears as whumpee rocks themselves back and forth in the corner, singing softly to themselves. if only caretaker could just give them a hug-
THE GUILT CARETAKER FEELS THE WHOLE DANG TIME
when whumpee gets sick, and caretaker desperately tries to obtain any bit of medicine to help. when they bring what little they find, whumpee looks at them with such fevered gratitude that caretaker can hardly bear it.
that night, caretaker says to hell with the consequences and gets whumpee and themselves out of there.
whumpee’s so exhausted from the ordeal that caretaker has to carry them out in the dead of night.
let’s not forget the night they have to spend in the woods on their way to the safe house, caretaker curled around whumpee’s body to keep them warm.
when they reach the safe house, and caretaker refuses to leave whumpee’s side, nursing them back to health and staying with them around the clock.
when whumpee is finally out of the woods, a guilt-wracked caretaker collapses into whumpee, hands clutching the fabric of whumpee’s shirt, sobbing about how sorry they were.
“we should I have left sooner - I should have done more - I could’ve done something….”
whumpee swallows around the lump in their throat and tentatively strokes their caretaker’s back. “shhhh,” they whisper soothingly. “it’s alright. it wasn’t your fault. you did what you had to. and hey,” they smile weakly, thumbing the tears away from whumpee’s cheeks, “you got me out, didn’t you?”
caretaker nods, but they still don’t let go of whumpee for a long time after that. and whumpee doesn’t let go either.
WHUMP PROMPT - #3
Things that a whumper may like about a gagged whumpee.
The utter helplessness of it. Having taken away both their physical mobility with restraints and now the only "weapon" they had left. No more retorts. No more cursing. No more refusing. Reduced to no more than a wriggling, moaning, thing. Of which the whumper has complete control.
Perhaps they like the sounds. The ragged, quickened breath through the nose. The muffled humming of each would-be-word they uselessly try to push out.
Perhaps they find it all humorous. Perhaps they like the embaressment it affords their victim. Perhaps they just like the look in their whumpee's eyes, the helpless glaring as their lips are so beautifully sealed behind a length of tape, or cloth.
Severitus where Severus recognizes abuse in pretty much anyone. He's constantly pulling Slytherins aside to talk about home life, Ravenclaws, even Hufflepuffs, but not him.
He's so desperate for anyone to notice, anyone to actually, truly care, to do something, but that never happens.
Severus assigns a detention and Harry just loses it the second he steps in. Severus makes a single comment, and Harry is completely breaking down. He's shouting, screaming, even better if he's breaking things. Like, absolutely crashing TF out, and then he storms out.
When he shows up to classes the next day, he expects to be practically murdered by Snape, but he's not.
1) An apology letter on his desk, explaining his behavior, demeanor, and offering to help.
2) He gets asked to step out, just like he does with the Slytherins.
3) Normal class period.
4) A hug/reassuring words/just a form of comfort, really.
Severitus where Harry is deeply hurt/affected by Severus' strict/old-fashioned/etc parenting styles.
Severus is always portrayed as strict, sometimes bordering on straight up abusive, but then because he's better than the Dursleys, readers and authors alike tend to agree that it's okay. (IF THAT'S WHAT YOU LIKE, THAT'S FINE SO LONG AS THERE'S A DISCLAIMER.)
But arguably, most often, his tactics are rather harsh. Maybe he's firm on the whole open door policies, or washing mouths out with soap, I've seen a lot with spanking as well, but there's never any after effect, so make there be one.
Oh, he washed his mouth out with soap? Now he's scared to talk.
Spanked? He doesn't see the difference, frankly I don't either, though, so I don't have much to offer here.
No door policy? He feels watched.
Whatever you decide, there should be a point of realization that this is harmful. However that decided though differs.
Make Harry write an essay about Scary Things, and instead of writing about something normal, he writes about how he's terrified of messing up.
Maybe Severus discovers a diary.
Or, and something that I find worked with their personalities, is a massive fight. Harry messed up, and now Severus is threatening whatever, and Harry loses it. "I want to go back to the Dursleys, because at least I know they're cruel, with you it's a mix up."
It's so angsty, om nom nom nom.
Baby Harry, like 1-3 MAYBE 4. Point is, he's really young, Voldemort isn't back, and Severus had been tasked with watching over him. He constantly says he hates watching over the baby, says he doesn't want to at all, says he feels nothing for the boy.
Of course, being a spy, he has to attend death eater meetings. Per say one of the members found out about Harry, and now to "prove his loyalty" he has to bring him in. He thinks it's going to be fine, maybe a couple of harsh words, but nothing bad.
He's mistaken (of course) and has to watch as Harry is mistreated. Up to you to decide HOW mistreated. Maybe it's a couple of slaps, I prefer crucio.
Extra angst if Severus is 'invited' to join, and has to harm Harry.
Whenever whumpee is freaking out because of something, the only way to calm them down is by saying they're a good pet and patting their head.
Caretaker desperately trying to tell them that they're not a pet, that they don't need to be good, but Whumpee just isn't having it.
Definitely had a breakdown about how they think they're a bad pet, they're clawing, sobbing, on their knees, begging to be told they're a good pet, maybe even lifting caretakers hand to pet their own head, trying to convince them that they're a good pet.
Ties their hoodies super tight because they need the feeling of a collar, even though they have scars from their last one, they need it because they don't know what else to do.
Whenever they mess up, they bash their head against their fist, or scratch at their skin till blood draws, etc.
Whumpee running into Whimper and is told they're a bad pet, and Whumpee spirals.
Caretaker snapping at them one time, and saying they're a bad pet, even though they're desperately trying to break that mentality, and Whumpee just goes silent, stone cold. They drop to their knees, begging for forgiveness, maybe they're even rolling around, gripping, pulling their hair.
🚨THE ONES FOLLOWING THIS MAY BE TRIGGERING TO SOME PEOPLE, THE PROMPTS BELOW HINT AT SA, STARVATION TACTICS, AND INCLUDE DISORDERED BODY IMAGES!!!🚨
Whumpee gaining weight or something about them is off, maybe they have a pimple or their nails aren't clean, something minuscule, but they rush out of the room, dropping to their knees and sobbing, begging for forgiveness, saying they'll fix it, and caretaker is just confused.
Whumpee scarfing down whatever food they get because they're worried about being a bad pet and not getting food.
Caretaker (romantic) thought Whumpee was better, or pretty much better, so they take it a step further, making out, stuff like that, and Whumpee hates every second, but they're terrified of saying no, but halfway through they just start sobbing, apologizing and begging caretaker to stop, who does, immediately.
Backtracking off of the last one, maybe Whumpee has some serious scarring in those areas because of Whumper, so when they get to that point, Whumpee has to warn Caretaker, but when they see it all, they just kinda cry and hold onto Whumpee.
Whumpee spending hours in front of the mirror, searching for pimples, weight gain, body hair, literally any imperfections and getting rid of it because they need to be the perfect pet.
Whumpee is having a hard day and is currently sobbing or something, so caretaker is carrying them to bed, or maybe they just grab their shoulder, but Whumpee freaks out, hysterical, rolling on the floor, begging not to make Whumpee do that stuff again.
Caretaker having a bit of a rough day, so Whumpee thinks it's their job to make them feel better, so they take off their clothes, silently crying, and caretaker has never been more confused in their life.
Whumptober Day: 2
(I didn't spin a wheel today I just chose Leona bc I'm projecting)
"They don't care about you"
Due being a very prestigious school, NRC doesn't have much time to spare. They have a lot of curriculum to get through.
This causes their break periods to only be a week at a time.
While most students see this as a con, to Leona it's the best part. The less time he spends in that stupid, stuffy, suffocating palace the better.
So when he was told be would be spending another two extra weeks at home he was not pleased.
Farena was the one who broke the news to him citing some random noble coming to visit.
"You're school doesn't mind so neither should you! School isn't fun anyways right?"
Leona snapped at him and threw him out.
Whenever Farena couldn't talk to Leona he sent father in. Which was worse.
Much worse.
Apparently he 'didnt value family' and 'was an ungrateful brat.'
"You've asked why you can't be a king this is why!
"Your friends will come and go they won't be there for you when you need them! One day you'll be dying and they'll let you. They won't even miss you! No one would miss a useless ungrateful brat!"
"They don't love you how family does."
"They don't care for you how family does"
"I doubt they care for you at all."
He was just an asshole. His words held no meaning heck, he barely even knew Leona.
But it still hurt
Leona sat there covering his face with his hands and breathing slowly. He wasn't crying. Crying was weak.
Leona was weak.
Who would care for a weak, Useless, Whiny, Ungrateful brat?

Idia has made a habit of performing Ortho's maintenance on the first day of every month and well. Today's the day.
It's quite simple really. Even a genius like Idia doesn't have enough will power to perform complex maintenance every month.
Heck! Idia barely has enough will power to get up in the morning! (That's normal right?)
Regardless of Idia's lack of motivation he gets up to perform the maintenance on Ortho.
Orthos maintenance is easy. Just checking in on all of his systems and updating his databank. A few hours work but nothing that Idia can't handle.
Unless there's an unexpected variable.
An unexpected variable such as a virus
Idia notices a slight error in the code. Just one small error.
But then he notices another
And another.
And suddenly bright red warning signs are flashing all across his screen.
This can't be happening
Viruses are dangerous and even one minor slip-up can cause Ortho to malfunction and...
Idia looks up at where Ortho is standing.
He looks tired.
And then. He falls.
Idia runs over to catch him just in time before rushing to manually reset his code.
He needs to be careful. One wrong move and...
Idia can't afford to lose Ortho again.
And he will do anything to make sure he doesn't.

Hi!!! sorry it's been a while Ive been really burnt out and busy with school but I'm back for Whumptober! I really hope this is good. It's not as headcanon-y as id like it but it's nearly midnight here and I gotta get this out on time! I'll be trying my level-best to be posting everyday in October.
