Your personal Tumblr journey starts here
this reminds me of the time someone on tiktok said fanfiction websites are like drug dealers: if you want the good shit, you go to a good dealer; bad quality drugs on wattpad, mid quality drugs on ff.net and excellent, well-sourced drugs from ao3. as someone who doesn't even do drugs this still makes total sense
Reading fanfiction on ao3 is like being addicted to drugs.
The first time you read one you experience this immense amount of euphoria and satisfaction (because of a well-done story or your ship having a solid dynamic etc.)
The high lasts for quite some time until you want way more of that special feeling so you read more and more until eventually nothing can satisfy you anymore.
But instead of trying to quit, we embrace the madness and let it takes us wherever it wants.
And I think that's beautiful.
Without ao3, I can feel the life seeping out of me. Every passing minute the life force drains from my body, turning me into a sickly grey. My eyes are drooping and I can feel my organs start to fail. I can already see the light, shining so brightly above me. I am only hanging on by the transfusion of fanfiction.net. However, that is not my only woe. I can feel old fandoms creeping up behind me, ready to drag me back into their grasp. Danganronpa got me a week ago, yttd a few days before. Is this the end? Has life come full circle? What will historians think a hundred years from now? What will this crisis be called? The Fall of Creativity? Fanfiction Fodder? The Great Suppression? As a collectivity everyone has united in this detrimental time. We must stick together, offer up other sources to consume media created by talented, life providing authors.
How I use fanfiction.net:
Step one: search fanfiction.net
Step two: type the name of the character you want to read about
Step three: hit search; you will get a differentiating amount of results; use the box labeled narrow results to make your search more specific. It does not filter out ships, characters, and other stuff. However, it can give you fics based on what you choose, such as language, genre, etc..
This can help you @castielssuperhell
I’ve been without ao3 for too long that I’ve resorted to using fanfiction.net again.
Fanfiction.net watching me use it for longer than I have in multiple years because AO3 is down
that feeling when you know there's a really popular fandom that you're going to get invested in but you really don't have the time
and then you know you're going to end up falling in love with it when there's like 5 people who are active
at least the fanfics are good ig-
Probably gonna make another blog for my fanfiction cuz I’m so tired of only getting the attention of bots 😭
H-hi. Would anyone beta read my fanfic story for me?
Hi! Can the bots that are now plaguing fanfiction.net kindly eff off? You’re really cramping my style and ability to get genuine reviews. Thank youuu
Reblog and put in the tags: the fandom for which you read your first-ever fanfic, and which website you found it on.
Reblogging to save my life and the lives of others.
While most people started their fanfic journeys back in the somewhat olden days on sites like fanfiction.net, LiveJournal, Tumblr, or DeviantArt. This is how I started before I discovered fanfiction.net in the late 2000s, then Ao3 in the mid 2010s
My 11ish old self actually remembers these stories quite fondly.
Also any fanfic I read back in the day were mostly just Naruto.

They're 2 fluffy Shadow and Cream one shots- no they aren't being shipped. It's just cute fluffy stuff and I really liked all of their other stories as well
As someone eternally stuck in a tiny, dead, or dying fandom, I'd like to say this.
I love you people who post once a week.
I love you people who post once a month.
I love you analysis writers who pour content then stop up for so long I forgot why I followed you until you pop more out again.
I love you fanartists who hate their art.
I love you fanartists who love their art.
I love you fanartists who are neutral or apathetic to that art.
I love you people who have only posted once in this tag and never again.
I love you people who have never posted and only reblog.
I love you people who leave comments and help build the fandom's morale.
I love you snippet and drabble writers.
I love you self-shippers.
I love you people who only consume and share content about their niche fav that most of the fandom forgot existed or discarded as not worth their time and attention.
I love you shippers of the main pairs and shippers of the rare pairs.
I love you person who posted on the fandom tag after two years of silence.
Myself uses Spirit fanfics, but im thinking in doing more outside of it
