Human rose would be a veterinarian that does gardening and dancing as a hobby
she met pearl in ballet class as kids
she comes from a family of very talented notable and rich doctors that own multiple hospitals get it doctors sounds like dictators
Her family thought that she was to childish emphatic and careless to be a good doctor they wouldn’t pay for her to go to collage
she ran away got fat dyed her hair and started a rock band get it rock
the money she made being the lead singer of the crystal gems went into her degree
her family hates the crystal gems

so after posting that swap au I had in mind, I wonder: which crystal gem would be what diamond? Meaning that I pick which one of the trio is gonna be what diamond and I explain why. (And please correct me if I get some su logic wrong, I'm still just rewatching it.)

Pearl would be Blue Diamond. Hear me out, at first I thought she'd be yellow or white but when it came to me picking which diamond they'd be, I focus on how they are after Pink got "shattered" and the reason why is because both Blue and Pearl have a thing in common: they mourn the loss of a person that was important to them. Blue mourned for thousands of years after Pink was gone, Pearl mourned Rose when she decided to give up her physical form so Steven could exist.
But if I were to foucus on who she belonged to before Pink, she'd be White Diamond.

I don’t get the Pearl haters, because yes she can be childish at times and crash out in-front of Steven, but she has every right to.
She fell in love with rose, to the point she did everything for her: fought in the gem war, started a rebellion, kept all her secrets and more. When she found out that rose kept things from her after everything, she crashed out. Honestly, fair enough to her, considering how Pearl kept the pink diamond secret for what, thousands of years ? It was definitely a long time anyways.. it’s obvious she’d crash out from being stuck on earth, a place she only went to so she could be with rose. now rose is gone, she has to raise her kid, Steven.
Plus she’s a such a diva why would u ever hate her

it’s been 14 years since rose died, and considering how gems have been around for eons, fourteen years would feel like fourteen days to them
next time you want to judge pearl’s flawed trauma responses, intense emotions, and obsession with rose, just think about this and maybe she’ll become relatable instead of despicable to you
