Onceler x Reader Fluff (makeup time!!)

You’re sitting in your room, trying to get ready to go out into Thneedville for some groceries and maybe casual walking around. Sitting on the floor in front of a mirror the Onceler keeps around, your makeup is positioned on your lap or on the floor around you. You start by putting concealer under your eyes, and then-
There’s humming in the distance…
“Hey Y/N!”
“Hey Oncie.”
“Whatcha got there?”
“I’m just putting on my makeup, getting ready to go out today.”
“Oooo can I try, Y/N?”
You’re a bit taken aback by this, but eager to see the Onceler all fancied up. Maybe you can even force him to go to work in a super cute look… with sparkly green eyeshadow? The possibilities are endless…. This is gonna be so silly…
“Yeah, sure. Here. You need help right?”
You reach for a box of makeup you’re not using so you can still get your own done, and shove it towards him. It should have everything he needs.
“Nahhhh how hard could it possibly-”
He sees the box full of makeup and his eyes widen.
“Everything okay, Oncie?”
“I knew there was mascara and uhh… bloosh? But what is all this? I feel like I underestimated the amount of makeup people use…”
“Bloosh??”
He’s even more stupid than I first thought.
You dig through the box and pick up some extra concealer and foundation you got in a free-bie once that looks like it could match his tone.
“Alright, here. This is concealer, and this is foundation. I think we’ll just use a little concealer for you since your skin is pretty clear already.”
“It… isn’t it the same thing?”
“Nope.”
The Onceler blushes a little, feeling a bit dumb for not understanding something he thought would be so simple. You apply some concealer to his under eyes and blend it out. You then use a brush to powder his face and put the “bloosh” on his cheeks and nose.
“What color eyeshadow do you want? Any? There’s green like your suit… or pink like a thneed? Orange like the Lorax?
“I would never wanna match that furry meatloaf… Let’s do green.”
You apply a little bit of sparkly green eyeshadow to his lids and back up some to look at it.
“Cute! Okay, you already wear mascara don’t you?”
“No?”
“Your eyelashes are naturally that curled and dark? That’s so unfair…”
You hold the mascara wand up to his eyelashes, and he scoots away dramatically.
“Woah woah woah woah don’t stick that in my eyes! Are you crazy???”
“It’s not going in your eyes! I do this for myself every morning, calm down you scaredy pants!!”
The Onceler winces a little, but lets you put the mascara on him.
“There, that wasn’t so bad. Do you wanna do the eyeliner yourself then?”
“Eyeliner? You’re gonna put lines in my eyes???”
“NO oh my- alright here. I’ll do it, but you can’t move okay? No moving at all, got that?”
The Onceler does his best to sit still as you put very minimal eyeliner on him.
“Thank goodness that’s over with. Now, do you want pink lipstick, or something crazier? I can also do lip gloss.”
“What’s the difference?”
“Lip gloss is shiny, and, well, a gloss. Lip stick is… a stick? I can layer them if you want.”
“Yes, that would be fine. I think pink is fine.”
You put a peachy pink lipstick on him and some shiny clear gloss with little glitters over top.
“That’s so cute! Oncie, you look adorable!”
You reach over to get some highlighter to put on his inner corners and nose, when suddenly someone busts in.
“Hey beanpole, you-”
It’s the Lorax! His cute fuzzy butt just broke in and is now looking upon a super fabulous Onceler.
“Y/N. What is this.”
“Oh the Onceler just wanted to try some m-”
“No, I see that. I can see that he tried. This is horrendous, kid. Let me show you how it’s done.”
“Oh…?”
The Lorax grabs some of your makeup with his little orange fist and faces the mirror, putting it all on faster than you knew was possible. He turns around and…
Oh. Oh my.
The Lorax has on a super fierce look. He has bold pink and orange eyeshadow, fading out into a smokey eye. His eyeliner is black and thick, but somehow perfectly symmetrical. His cheeks are perfectly blushed with an orangey pink, his lips perfectly over-lined… He’s… He’s…
“BEAUTIFUL!!”
(You and the Onceler say this in unison.)
The Onceler grabs the fluffy pumpkin butt and squeezes him.
“Oh I didn’t think you could get any cuter! Oh this is so unexpected but so so perfect.”
“Yeah and I didn’t think you could get any more annoying. Put me down, I demand you!”
You stand back and giggle at these two now very sparkly and beautiful guys.

You woke up to the sound of rain pattering on the windows of the Onceler’s wagon. You’d been staying with him every now and then after coming across him singing and dancing with a bunch of… barbaloots in the truffula forest? It was a strange sight for sure, as you had just been taking a walk that day only to witness such a beautiful scene. The truffula forest of course, not the Onceler! You didn’t have any feelings for him at all… Back then at least. The two of you had started dating after many weeks spent together supporting his thneed business. It hadn’t gone anywhere yet, but you were sure it would eventually. Probably. Sure hope it doesn’t go overboard and cause massive destruction to this beautiful forest!
Turning to face the interior of the wagon, you rubbed your eyes and stretched. The Onceler was probably already in town advertising his invention.
But it’s raining, isn’t it? So he wouldn’t be out… Does that mean?
Suddenly you catch the scent of something sweet in the air. Is that…
“Good morning Y/N! I made pancakes. Way too many actually. How many do you want? There’s gotta be tons leftover I won’t be able to finish.”
The Onceler was standing by his little makeshift stovetop, flipping pancakes and humming a silly tune. He was still wearing his blue and yellow bunny pajama set, but with an apron over top. You hadn’t noticed it before, but the apron was covered in little pink hearts.
“I didn’t realize you’d be home. Usually you aren’t back until a few hours after I’ve woken up. Maybe i’ll have… P/P/N?” (preferred pancake number. i don’t judge, i won’t pick for you! also can be pee-pee-nut if you prefer.)
The Onceler handed you a plate and flipped your pancakes across the room into a graceful stack on top. He then picked up an already pancaked plate and walked over, sitting beside you on the bed. The rain was coming down harder now. It must have been around noon, but it was still as dark out as it would be in the middle of the night. You noticed a flash out of the corner of your eye, and suddenly…
CRAZH BANG BOOM OH NO!!1!1!
The thunder surprised you, and you screamed a little, jumping from your place on the comfy orangey-red sheets. Onceler was startled too, but not nearly as much. You fell back into his arms, knocking your pancakes all over the place.
“Oh no… I’m so sorry Oncie. The two bites I had were really good…”
“Don’t worry about it Y/N! I did tell you I made tons.”
The Onceler sliced a piece with his fork and put it up to your mouth. You were hesitant and a little embarrassed, but ate it. CRASH BANG OH ITS MORE THUNDER HOW TERRIBLE!! You jumped a little again, this time closer the Onceler, and nuzzled your head into his chest. He reached for a blanket and wrapped it around you both. You looked up into his pretty blue eyes, and he planted a kiss on your forehead.
“It’s okay, Y/N. I’m here. The storm should calm down soon.”
He sliced another portion of his pancakes and fed them to you, stroking your hair and giving you occasional kisses anywhere he could reach. The two of you spent the rest of the evening cuddling, eating pancakes, and listening to the rain.

I wanted my Audrey to have two outfits. One that was darker and cooler colors for the middle of the story when she's going through harder times, and one outfit that was brighter with warmer colors to represent she's healing along with nature towards the end of the story. The first drawing I posted was of her first outfit. For this second drawing I also wanted to draw her looking more playful and happy, I've also been wanting to draw a character in this pose for a while xD (if you're wondering the L is directed at Once-ler, whom she lovingly teases like he's her brother)

My Audrey seems very serious and somewhat closed off before you properly meet her, partly because her parents are very critical of her and judgemental and because she's constantly been picked on by classmates. But also because the destruction of nature and beginning of O'Hare's dictatorship started when she was a teenager so she was forced to grow up too fast and become pessimistic and sad.
But once you get to know my Audrey and she trusts you, she will love you and trust you deeply forever. Once she trusts you she's very very silly and playful and totally embraces her inner child around you. She will constantly do silly things.
She's also extremely gentle and polite, even before she knows or trusts anybody, but if she senses injustice she is fierce and fights back. She's extremely protective over her loved ones and has strong morals.
She's also very artistic, mostly liking painting and dancing. She finds painting is the only way she can truly express herself and her inner child without her parents or strangers judging.
One day Audrey gets tired of living in Thneedville and trying to be a "perfect, lady-like young woman" for her parents so she sneaks out of town and while aimlessly exploring she comes across the Once-ler who's been isolated for a few years and is an emotional mess. She hates him at first when she realized what he's done and who he is, but she soon comes to understand why he did what he did and realizes he actually has a pure heart and feels like a scared little kid who grew up too fast just like her (And he has mama issues just like her). They end up becoming best friends with a sibling-like bond and I love them. (My Audrey is actually partly inspired by my best friend Monique as my Once-ler is partly based off me xD)

My best friend (Monique who I keep mentioning) wanted me to give Ted Wiggins from the 2012 Lorax movie a "cooler" design. 1, because she thought he was so basis looking (for some reason? He's probably like? 13? 14? lol) and 2, because we're absoluetly huge dorks and we had just voiced over the ENTIRE Lorax movie together. Before we started we were practicing voices and casting ourselves and each other as characters and I made her be Ted even though she strongly disliked him for "being so basic and boring". As she was reading the script because watching the movie, she ended up making him sound so sassy and so zesty and as we were watching the movie she started doing his internal dialogue making him say "guys" a lot as if we was talking to an imaginary Youtube channel in his head. The voice she was doing was so funny and she gave him so much sass. We both love Ted now 😭. This Ted will probably end up being my Ted OC for "Once-ler pon A Time" story now (cus I needed one) but he still needs a unique name. I'm thinking maybe Ted Wigglesworth.

It's been about five and a half months since I rewatched The Lorax movie for the first time in yeaarrsss, and since then I've been very obsessed with this movie, esspecially the Once-ler who has always been my favourite. I've had a weird ??aromantic??queerplatonic?? crush on the young 2012 Once-ler (or emotional attachment towards him anyways) since I first saw this movie as a seven-year-old. I remember when I was little I more just thought he was cute and silly but was sad when he became "Greedler", but now that I'm older I love his entire story and how tragic he is (along with the silliness/cuteness). I was absolutely elated when I found out he had a fandom.

For years me and my best friend Monique have played this drawing game where we put the names of characters, animals, even objects into a hat (or on a picker wheel) and blindly choose two out and have to draw them merged together.
I got some pretty goofy combinations (shown under the "keep reading") but my favourite combo/drawing I made was definitely "Hello Kitty + Once-ler".
I absolutely adore this Hello Kitty themed Once-ler!! 😭<333 I think he's so adorable! x3 He's definitely not gonna be a serious Once-ler OC like my Oncekins or anything, but I might keep him around for fun because omg I love him!!
Annnd here are the other combinations I got. Pretty wild indeed 😅. I absoluetly love my frickin ridiculous ballerina Greedler. I honestly think he is hilarious and I am so pleased with the amount of sass and pizzazz I gave him. I drew him and was immediately like "ah yes, Tumblr would appreciate this cursed, cringey drawing".
This was my last drawing of 2024 and also quite possibly my favourite thing drawing I've ever drawn. :'3 Unlike lots of my art (esspecially sketchbook stuff) I'm not just like "that's cute hehe", but I am actually proud of this one. JUST LOOK AT MY DEAR ONCE-KINS IN HIS LITTLE BAKERY 😭
I accidentally doubled the shadow layer and that was like the best thing that could have possibly happened to this artwork, my Once-kins looks so 3D 😭😭 I also spend lots of time drawing his expression and pose to create the energy I wanted. The thing I think really took this drawing to the next level for me was the background. At first I was just gonna draw a basic colored block background but then I decided to suffer instead :'D I wanted to take the time to make this image look as close as possible to how it did in my imagination. Also I discovered drawing food just feels so cozy and wholesome and is so weirdly relaxing and satisfying \(^-^)/💕

This is my darling Once-ler OC for an AU I’ve been creating called “Once-ler-pon A Time”. I’m not 100% what to call him as he doesn’t really have a theme or any defining characteristics, but I’ve been affectionately calling him “Once” and or “Oncekins” (same things I’ll call canon 2012 Once-ler) so maybe one of those could be his name/what he’s known as on Tumblr?
About my AU: In my Once-ler-pon A Time AU (which I’m gonna write as a fanfic) I squished down the movie’s timeline a lot so that Once will get a happy ending while he is still very young. He’ll still spend time alone (I still want him to be tragic) but not as much. And I’m gonna have him, Audrey and Ted team up against O’Hare who is dictating Thneedville. I’m also gonna explore Once-ler as a character a lot, like his thoughts, feelings, backstory, what he did after his company failed, and all that jazz!!
About my OC: my Once-ler is almost exactly like the Once-ler in the 2012 movie. The main difference is I made all my head-canons about movie Once-ler FOR REAL CANON for my Once-ler!!! My Oncekins is a burnt out given, highly sensitive person who’s extremely creative. He’s constantly belittled, ridiculed, ignored and made to work too hard by his family causing him to crave validation, admiration, love and success. He’s extremely clumsy, can be reckless, a free spirit, and tries being tougher than he is sometimes (because of his upbringing) but he’s really just a hugggeee softie. He can be a bit of a space cadet and he’s very talented.
About this drawing: this is supposed to be Once at the very end of the story where he’s living happily. I gave him a new outfit combining elements of vestler and Greedler and gave him flowers to show he protects nature now (plus it’s cute). I’m not 100% on his ending yet, I feel like he’d give almost all his money away, take care of the earth and spend time on his passions like art and music but maybe he’ll run a nonprofit bakery? I don’t know, something wholesome and heartfelt that can feel healing and comforting to him after all he’s been through. ❤️🩹💚 (Also his vest pattern is the same pattern Miru667 used for her Audrey’s dress, just wanted to point that out, that pattern isn’t mine)
I know some people see "Greedler" as a separate character, but I see him as just Once-ler in his silliest, sassiest, most chaotic state (maybe cus he's secretly miserable umm). So with that in mind I thought it would be really funny to draw him drinking red wine (like a fancy rich person would) with a silly straw because he's goofy like that. I also wanted to acknowledge his ridiculous glasses that look like they came from a St.Patrick's Day aisle of a store soooo that's how this was born. Here's the original sketch from my sketchbook...
I also happened to find this meme on Pinterest like a couple days after finishing this drawing and thought it was so funny that somebody had the exact same thought as me.
I drew the characters from the Lorax movie in my own art style instead of Illumination’s while also practicing drawing backgrounds. I think it turned out great. I think Once still looks like himself which was important to me and I think pipsqueak looks so adorable. I think the sleepy little Lorax looks so cute too.
The idea behind this drawing was basically “if Once-ler’s family never showed up”. He didn’t start chopping trees down again until his mom told him to and he very reluctantly agreed, so if they never showed up he probably would have just lived a peaceful life with the animals and the Lorax, selling thneeds at a lower, tree friendly rate.
You know that one (potentially kinda odd) childhood crush you had on a character or actor that just never really went away for some reason? Cus mine’s the young Once-ler from the Lorax movie 💀💀💀 and I always thought I was just weird but then I found out HE HAD A FANDOM??? And there were more dorks like me?!? I was so happy 😅🫶🖤
I rewatched this movie again recently for the first time in probably like five years?? and I’ve been obsessed with it. It’s so cute and goofy and colorful. Soooo here is my Lorax/Once-ler art 🫶🧡🖤 I tried my best to copy the animation style of the movie instead of drawing them in my original art style, but I’ll probably draw him again in my own style cus I love this goofy bean and it appears the people of Tumblr do as well 🖤
