Genya Shinazugawa was born in January, when the frosts were already raging outside the walls of their modest home. But he never felt the cold of winter.

How could he, if from the moment he was born, his brother's hands warmed him? He was with his dear older brother more often than with his mother, who went to any part-time job to have money for food and some minimum of things, but little Genya, whose hair was the color of a raven's wing, like a bird, who flew past their house on the day of his birth, smiled so brightly at Sanemi that the elder one thought that there was no cold outside.

How could it be cold when the real sun was sitting on his hands? An eclipse, but full of warmth.

They were similar, but at the same time they were opposites.

And Genya was often so upset about this in childhood, because, of course, he wanted to be like his beloved older brother!

They had the same eyes, similar build, even if Genya hadn't caught up with his brother in height yet, but he was always upset about the color of his hair.

"Aniki, why isn't my hair white like yours? You were born almost in winter too, why is my hair black?" little Genya whined quietly as he and Sanemi sat alone at home one night, waiting for their mother, happy to be out of their father's sight.

Sanemi smiled softly at the question and gently wiped away his little brother's tears, hugging him tighter and gently rocking in place as he pondered the question.

"Because when I was born, winter had just descended on the earth, and our house was the first one it came to, and kissed my hair, so it's white, not like yours or your mom and dad's. And when you were born, there was an eclipse in the sky. The moon covered the sun, and so you were kissed by the shadow of the moon, making your hair like this. I remember seeing your hair white for a few moments," Sanemi says with a mysterious smile, while his heart warms at the sight of Genya listening to him with sincere trust and surprise.

Even if it's just a little fiction to entertain his little brother and calm him down by explaining their differences.

Even if it's not true.

"I... Kissed by the Eclipse?"

"Yes, Genya."

Continuation of this post, as you have been waiting! Sanemi can't see color.

The question seems strange and unexpected to Giyuu, for a moment he wants to ask Sanemi himself what it is for, but such unexpected joy in the form of a simple act of communication overshadows this thought, forcing him to answer a few seconds later.

"Dark blue."

Dark blue…

Sanemi barely restrains himself from swallowing, so that the movements of his Adam's apple do not give away how this answer excites him, making his veins tense.

Dark blue, like the ocean itself, he thinks. Like the evening sky before it is covered by rain clouds, like the waves of the sea that he saw a couple of times as a child and was simply amazed by the beauty and powerful force of water. Perhaps like those precious stones, sapphires, that he saw in the hairpins of wealthy ladies that sometimes came across in the neighborhood where his family lived. Dark blue, just like that strange blue tea, anchan, if his memory served him right.

The Wind Pillar clutches the hilt of the katana on his hip, trying to calm his wild imagination, which still remembered the colors he had seen as a child.

Oh, Buddha, how he wanted to see the eyes of that idiot Tomioka now.

To see if the blue of his eyes could shine. Had his eyes ever shined before? He thought so, yes, it was possible.

Sanemi stares at Giyuu so hard that Giyuu tilts his head uncertainly in silent question, not understanding what he had done wrong in answering the question. And Sanemi himself continues to study those confused eyes, their depth and shades of gray, imagining what they really were.

He so wants to believe that they are the deepest color of the purest sapphires, like in the fairy tales he told his siblings.

Yes… These are the kind of eyes that the Water Pillar should have.

"I wish I could see them." He whispers, causing Giyuu to involuntarily look away, embarrassed and unsure of what it was, while the Wind Pillar grins, baring his fangs.

Sanemi doesn't see color.

He lost the colors of this world when he first had to take up arms, and he never saw this world again.

Everything seemed as if it was an eternal cold winter. Everything was gray, faded, and dead, no matter where he looked.

He looked at the sky, but he no longer saw its azure purity.

He caught cherry blossom petals in his palms and looked at them for a long time, tracing the outline and delicacy of the veins of the flower with his pads, but he did not see what the cherry blossoms were like this year.

He sat on a tree branch, looking at the setting sun over the mountains and forest cover, but all he saw in the sky was a scribble of gray shades.

He often thought that he would gradually forget the colors.

If only, if only... if only they did not dream of him.

Rarely, fleetingly, but he clung to that moment every time in his dreams, keeping it in his memory...

He had never seen what color Tomioka's eyes were.

Of course, he hadn't seen any of the colors of the other Pillars. Not their hair, not their clothes, not their eyes. He knew that Gyomei was blind. He knew that Obanai had two different eye colors, and that the right one was almost blind. He knew that Kyoujuro's eyes always shone. He knew that Muichiro's eyes often stopped at something without thinking, empty.

So why did Giyuu's dark, dull even eyes catch his attention?

"Tomioka..." the question hangs in the air as Shinazugawa stares at the Water Pillar, narrowing his eyes slightly, making a soft tsking sound as the Water Pillar tilts his head to the side in a silent question.

"What... color are your eyes?..."

I think Genya hates his demon eating ability.

He wants to fight fair and square, with his own strength, and he hates every time he has to take demon flesh just to survive and keep fighting.

He hates the taste of demon flesh, he would rather drink poison, but that's the only way he can survive and heal his wounds.

Genya hates it.

Sanemi Shinazugawa was born at the end of autumn, on the day when winter leaves.

Sanemi Shinazugawa was born on the day when winter stepped onto the land and kissed him on the top of his head, dyeing his hair the whiteness of snow.

Sanemi was born when the cold enveloped Japan, leaving no room for the weak, and little Sanemi, who did not even cry in his mother's arms when she could not feed him at times, survived. His thirst for life, for light, was stronger than any frost and bone-chilling wind when he was still a baby.

Sanemi Shinazugawa caught snowflakes with his little hands while growing up among the blizzard and cold, he was strong despite the frost.

Sanemi Shinazugawa - a man kissed by winter.

One of my friends, due to some peculiarities and past, can just pass out in a couple of seconds, and the worst thing is if he does it to me, because damn, every time it's a fight for oxygen.

Now imagine Sanemi and Giyuu.

That's all I have.

Everyone is used to Sanemi having a rather rough, low voice (I don't mean it's unpleasant, of course), that no one thinks that the man can sing at all.

And then their software crashes when they hear him humming something in thought or if Genya falls asleep on his lap while his older brother plays with his hair.

HE'S THE ELDDEST OF SEVEN CHILDREN, OF COURSE HE CAN SING LULLABIES OR FOLK SONGS TO CALM HIS SIBLINGS

bonus: Giyu is a great listener of songs, but his singing is the same as his attempts to smile (my silly).

So, I miscalculated a bit with the joints, so the bodies don't fit the heads very well, but that's a minor thing.

Sanemi, who is based on the work @peachdues "Compass"! I am very excited about your fanfics, so I couldn't help but try this image for Shinazugawa!

I don't know if anyone has talked about this, but

The thing that haunts me is that Sanemi is the only one with his hair color in his family. Yes, he could have gotten his white hair from his other ancestors, but what if it's really gray?

Sanemi is a damn gray-haired kid who suffered so much from his father in the past that his hair turned out like that.

Poor kid.

Promise

The first time you meet him, you swear to yourself that this fucking idiot with scars is clearly not himself and that you will stay away from him.

He is loud, rude as hell, mocking, sometimes you think He genuinely enjoys the way his nichirin blade decapitates demons while He bares his fangs in a sadistic grin.

He is secretive, prickly, does not tolerate those he does not know near him, like a fucking wolf who trusts only his pack, and even if the other Hashira speak well of you, He does not look at you.

You learn his story when Rengoku mentions it one day, and you understand. Before you thought He was just a fucking idiot, now you understand why he is like that.

A man who has lost almost everything.

You promise yourself not to pity him.

Sanemi does not need fucking pity.

You promise yourself that your feelings towards him won't change, and you really do, until you start to notice how difficult it really is for him.

You break your promise to yourself when you realize you're in love.

And you're screwed.

So, today I dreamed that Sanemi was training me… Not like tsuguko, but just… a friendly suggestion about what training I could try? It's weird, unexpected but… it was nice. Embarrassingly nice and easy.

THE SANEMI PERIOD CAME TO ME AGAIN…

It's not like they thought it would happen.

Not with their pace of life and the fact that they could die at any moment.

But it happened.

Obanai was just relaxing on the tatami, stroking Kaburamaru's body in his hands, removing old scales, helping his little friend with the molt. It was a rather personal moment, which they usually spent alone, but this time everything happened a little differently.

Sanemi suddenly appears in the space of his room in the Corps, but he doesn't say anything.

In general, he tried, tried to be quieter next to Iguro, knowing that snakes don't like loud sounds, and disturbing Iguro at such a moment would be simply rude.

So with the same silence he approaches, glancing at the place next to Obanai, and, receiving a slight nod, sits down next to him.

The moments pass as Shinazugawa watches the unity between Obanai and his snake without disturbing the peace, and only when Kaburamaru crawls away from his hands does he hand Iguro a bento without looking at him.

"What is this?"

"Lunch. You haven't eaten in almost four days again, idiot. Are you trying to kick back or are you like Kaburamaru and eat once a week?" Wind Hashira grumbles, glancing at Obanai.

He doesn't respond to this reproach, simply accepting the wooden bento and opening it, tilting his head to the side in mild surprise, like a snake. A couple of onigiri, with salmon by the smell, vegetables, and shrimp tempura. Suddenly, his stomach rumbles faintly, only now letting him know that perhaps he really has managed to get hungry during the days when he skipped meals.

"Thank you." Obanai doesn't smile even under his bandages, but he can tell from Sanemi's grin that he's clearly pleased.

They don't speak any further as Iguro eats, bandages loosened and slightly turned away, more out of habit. It's not like there was any point in hiding his scars now, especially from Shinazugawa, who wasn't embarrassed by his own scars, but it made him feel better anyway.

But when he finishes, it's a surprise to him when Sanemi hands him a couple of bluish-colored mochi on parchment.

Obanai starts to say something, but Sanemi simply places the dessert on his lap without looking at him.

"You treated my bugs. Consider it gratitude." he snorts, grinning contentedly as Obanai bites into the mochi, tasting the blueberry filling.

He… He's never been given treats like this, and he's a little confused.

"You're a slob without bandages," Sanemi suddenly mutters softly, using his thumb to wipe away some of the berry filling from Iguro's scars, licking it off immediately, leaving Hashira Snake with wide, surprised eyes.

Damn Iguro, he doesn't even know how adorable he looks right now.

And how adorable and confused he is when Shinazugawa's lips touch his, a light touch, soaking in the taste of blueberries.

It's only then that Sanemi realizes that the damn blueberries leave marks on his skin, and so he pulls away, exhaling.

"Watch your damn diet, Obanai." he curses, standing up and leaving Obanai in shock. It's only when he leaves that Iguro's cheeks burn with realization, and he quickly pulls the bandages back.

It's Not Like They Thought It Would Happen.

So, since you like my thoughts on these two, I'll continue to tease them

You do, right?~

Now, we know that Sanemi likes to breed rhinoceros beetles, and he's clearly delighted by these strong and beautiful insects, and I can understand that.

What's hard to understand is that you can't just eat all the beetles, yes, Kaburamaru.

Shinazugawa was clearly shocked when he returned to his room in the Corps one day and saw a white snake, Iguro, brazenly lying in his insectarium, scaring his poor beetles, who had huddled under a snag in their glass shelter.

There was clearly a lot of shouting and cursing as the Hashira of the Wind and the Snakes argued with each other while holding their pets (Obanai never calls Kaburamaru a pet, and never allows others to call him one). The two of them will continue to ignore each other for the rest of the day, but, but, Obanai will be the first to give in, simply not wanting to see Sanemi in this state for even a moment longer.

It's not like it's an apology or any other form of smoothing things over, no, he simply brings Sanemi some fruit, not looking him in the eye, holding it out in a small handkerchief, telling him to feed his bugs. He mentions that he talked to Kaburamaru, and that his little insects are no longer in danger.

In the end, they both end up sitting by the glass of Sanemi's insectarium, watching the bugs fussing as they eat sliced peaches with almost stars in their eyes.

So, Since You Like My Thoughts On These Two, I'll Continue To Tease Them

I can't get over the fact that Obanai is almost blind in his right eye, and he relies heavily on Kaburamaru to navigate his surroundings. True, I can almost always see that the snake's head is on his left shoulder.

But there are times when his snake friend isn't around… And his right side is a little vulnerable.

Did Sanemi know about this?

Oh, I'm sure he found out about it in the most horrible and stupid way!

Simply bumping into or accidentally touching Obanai, exploding in a light curse about how inattentive he is, especially for a Hashira. But seeing, or rather, not hearing the response tirade, Sanemi falls silent, tilting his head to the side, trying to understand what's going on.

And only after learning about the blindness, he barely snorts in irritation, folding his arms over his chest.

"Is that the case? Your right side needs work."

Obanai himself would not notice at what point after that, Wind Hashira began to stay to his right, in meetings, in battle, just nearby.

His golden eye always caught the vague figure of his friend nearby, but Iguro himself never said anything about it.

Perhaps he was comforted by this presence, even if he would never admit it. Not even to himself.

I Can't Get Over The Fact That Obanai Is Almost Blind In His Right Eye, And He Relies Heavily On Kaburamaru

I Can't Help But Think About The Connection Between The Elements In The Breathing Styles.

I can't help but think about the connection between the elements in the Breathing styles.

I just often observe and participate in how strong and solid the connection between water and air is, how they intertwine with each other, it's an undeniable power and beauty.

I'm tormented by thoughts about… What if neither Sanemi nor Giyu had suffered so much from their past, if everything had turned out differently?

Their pain and loss exposed the dangerous and wild sides of their elements. Wind can be a monstrous destructive force, just as Water can be indifferent to any life. Sanemi is prickly and furious like a damn hurricane. Giyu is like a dark rain, washing away your soul and any feelings.

But…

Their connection could have been different.

Not just joint sparring, during which Shinazugawa would try in every way to hurt, wound and injure the Hashira of Water, no, it could have been warm smiles. Tenderness and affection from both sides. Like a gentle breeze, giving comfort after the heat and pushing you forward from behind. A gentle touch of life-giving moisture that washes away any worries from you.

I cry, imagining Sanemi smiling that same sincere childish smile, laughing softly, while Giyu looks at him with his dark blue eyes, in which life has not faded, which sparkle like sunbeams on the surface of water…

SORRY, I'M TOO STUCK IN THISSSS

Tags

I can't help but think about how the Hashira elements affect them and reflect them.

For example, what if Sanemi was called Breeze? Despite his defensive aggression, I feel like he's like the Wind, playful and active, and can provide a slight calm, like a cool breeze after a hot day.

Okay, okay, maybe I'm crazy, but I can't let go of this thought.

Giyu, if his injury hadn't overwhelmed him so much, would clearly be very accommodating and understanding, someone who would keep his comrades from doing anything too reckless. He's generally soft and gentle, like a light rain during a sunny period.

Maybe I should write more of these headcanons!
