I love it when this fandom gives characters ego’s, but I’ve been sort of disappointed with France’s one. Everyone always talks about how egotistical he is about is looks, or raising other countries, or maybe the wars. But what I want to see it France being a little gremlin. Because fun fact, France was the first European country to re-build and re-plan their cities in the wake of urbanization. France literally rebuilt Paris from eh ground up to add larger streets, rows of trees, public parks, and boulevards.
So I want to see France hold it over Englands head that during the second industrial revolution, that even while England was revolutionizing germ theory, France started the trend of re-planning cities to accolade more people, and that the rest of Europe followed France’s lead.
I want France to talk to Italy about architecture near England to just rub it in his face that he didn’t think of re-planning the cities first, I just France to have a legitimate win that he can be egotistical about, something he did that bettered the world. Yeah he’s pretty, yeah he was on the winning side of both world wars, but he also esstainly started the trend of not living in overcrowded cities.
christmas music in the us: nothing better than building snowmen and waiting for santa as a family :)
christmas music in france: and so the THREE POOR ORPHANS who have to PICK UP THE REMNANTS OF THE HARVEST TO SURVIVE get LOST in the deserted fields and it's DARK so they ask the local butcher for shelter and HE SLAUGHTERS THEM LIKE PIGLETS AND PUTS THEM IN THE SALTING ROOM FOR S E V E N Y E A R S until the nice st. nicholas comes along and asks the butcher for shelter and a meal but then he refuses the ham he's offered and instead asks for the meat that's been in the salting room for seven years and the butcher cries for mercy and THE SAINT RAISES THE ORPHANS FROM THE DEAD but actually death was fine because they thought they were in heaven all along :)
So relieved to discover that my country does not come under the yoke of the RN. But the tricky part is yet to come and I hope that this alliance will continue until the next elections. 🙏🤞
Just thinking about how it was to grow up queer (and not knowing it yet) in France and it’s like. no celebrities or historical people were queer ever. or maybe they were but it’s not important. there is only one gay character in all French literature and it’s in a Balzac book and he’s a criminal. There are no other queer book (Source : dude trust us). Meanwhile mainstream radios play regularly Indochine’s hit track “Canary Bay” (about an island where lesbians live and have sex all day). Nobody mentions it. You are confused.
In France we have a show called "Les enfoirés" which is a concert with 40-or so artists (very famous french or francophone artists, we had Celine Dion for several years) that perform for free during a week. The show is filmed and visible on TV. Then the CDs and DVDs are sold and the profit goes to a caritative organisation called Les restos du coeur who offer food to people in need especially during winter.
It exist since 1989 and there is a show once a year in January (March on TV). It's very popular in France.
Is there something similar in other countries ?
To all fanfic writers out there : if you want to include some french culture references or language or anything about France, I want to help you. So, if you want, ask me ! 😊
