While most people started their fanfic journeys back in the somewhat olden days on sites like fanfiction.net, LiveJournal, Tumblr, or DeviantArt. This is how I started before I discovered fanfiction.net in the late 2000s, then Ao3 in the mid 2010s
My 11ish old self actually remembers these stories quite fondly.
Also any fanfic I read back in the day were mostly just Naruto.

I buy my Doujinshis from mutiple sites. Toranoana, OtakuRepublic, mandarake, or Suguru. Otakurepublic.com is in English and one of the best places to start from.
