Iâve picked up my Grimoire again and begun developing my Tarot section, (which is going to be huge and very time consuming but I am SO excited!)
Please feel free to use these pages as a guide in your own practices or as inspiration for your own BOS or Grimoire :) All I ask is that if you wish to recreate my design or wording, please credit in the description of your post!! Thank you đ
â¨Pages in my Grimoire on Tarot â¨
These pages begin my Tarot study on the symbols associated with the Major Arcana, the 4 Suites and associated zodiacs/meanings, the court cards and what they represent in meanings, numerology and their associated majors, and lastly color symbolism. this is basically all I need to do intuitive readings with the tarot!!
The next chunk of this will be meanings for each of the major arcana, based off of my own practices and what iâve learned about their symbols.
For all my fellow artist witches out there, Iâve come up with a fun and powerful way to bless, or theoretically curse, someone. Depending on your connection to your craft you can get a pretty accurate divination reading from these too!
đ Draw your target on watercolor, or water absorbent, paper. It doesnât have to be perfectly realistic as long as you are focusing on the person your depicting and filling it with intent.
đ Choose one, or several, colors that align with the type of magick you want to cast. I have a color correspondence post you can reference for this step or just search for colors associated with your intent. Color also has a very personal significance so keep this in mind when youâre making your selections.
đ Cover your drawing with water, lay it on very thick. Then apply your color/colors to the water. You can do this with a paintbrush, your finger, an eye dropper etc. You can let the color spread and dry naturally or move it around and/or use a hair dryer to make interesting forms.
đ If you are allowing yourself to be open to messages about your subject the movement of the paint, the forms it starts to create, the colors you feel inclined to use and many more variables can be a great divination reading.
⨠If you work with the elements: Earth - Paper Water - Used in the painting process Air - Either naturally dried or use of a hairdryer. Fire - You can burn the final image Spirit - Your intent/The paint
⨠Customize this to suit your craft! Sea Witches - Use storm water
Lunar/Space Witches - Use full moon water
Pastel Witches - Only use pastel colors
Digital/City Witches- Use an app to edit a photo of your target and draw on the image with colors.
Deities: Do you work with specific dieties? Devote a casting to them or use colors associated with your chosen god/goddess.
â¨I hope this inspires you to try it out. Let me know how your castings go! Tag it with #colorcasting and stay tuned for more art witch techniques!

- look through thrift stores for old candles or objects that you are drawn too

Letâs face it, although it definitely feels exciting to think that youâve been gifted a sign from the universe or any deities that you worship, not everything is a sign. In fact, most experiences arenât a sign- but thatâs not a bad thing! This just makes signs all the more special when we do receive one. Think about it: if we were sent signs from the universe or our deities all the time, they would slowly lose significance and meaning as they blended into the regular aspects of our lives. Eventually, they would no longer stand out to us and itâs possible we would stop noticing them altogether. So, donât be discouraged if you realize that something you experienced wasnât a sign- there will be plenty of opportunities for you to receive a genuine sign in the future when the time is right! If youâre having trouble discerning what experiences are actually signs and whatâs just a coincidence, here are a few tips:Â
It probably was NOT a sign ifâŚÂ
The experience is suited to its surrounding environment- If something is likely to happen within a specific environment due to the nature of the environment, then itâs most likely not a sign, instead itâs just a result of your surroundings. For example, if you see a deer while youâre taking a walk through the woods, then thatâs probably because youâre strolling through the natural habitat of a deer, not because youâre receiving a sign.Â
You havenât requested a sign from the universe/your deities- If you havenât reached out to your deities or asked the universe for a sign lately, then itâs more likely that your experience is just a coincidence. If thereâs no present issue at hand that youâve asked for help with, then thereâs less explanation as to what message the sign could be carrying and too many possible meanings to examine.Â
You receive the experience in a way youâre not used to- Some people directly communicate to the universe/their deities that they would like to receive signs in a specific manner so that they can be sure itâs a genuine sign from their higher power. If you have done this and your experience is received in a way thatâs different from the specifications youâve asked for in a sign, then itâs more likely to be a coincidence or simply an odd experience.Â
The experience could have happened to anybody/is too general- Sometimes, we really need to ask ourselves if an experience is actually significant, or if itâs just a coincidence that could happen to anyone. For example, say youâre contemplating leaving a relationship and you happen to see a bird near you flying away. Is that a sign? Well, itâs not exactly specific or super significant to see a bird flying away. That could very well happen to anyone on any given day, therefore itâs likely not a sign.Â
You find yourself desperately trying to force meaning within your experience when thereâs no true connection- It happens. At some point, we all have felt really lost in life, and as though we have no guidance. These feelings of helplessness and hopelessness can cause us to try and find meaning in our experiences when thereâs no sign to be found. This is likely because, in these moments, we feel as though our lives themselves are lacking meaning, therefore we can become desperate to try and find significance in something else.Â
Itâs likely that it WAS a sign ifâŚÂ
You have requested a sign from the universe/your deities- This is one of the first things you should consider when youâre trying to determine if your experience was a genuine sign! If youâve clearly asked the universe or sent a prayer to your deities for a specific sign and you receive an experience shortly after, then it is significantly more likely to be an actual sign because it is an answer to your request rather than a random message being sent.Â
The experience matched the specifications you have requested- In your prayers to your deities/the universe, perhaps you have made it clear that you prefer to receive signs in a specific manner, such as asking to notice it within a certain time frame, or a specific number of times. This is usually done with the purpose of having extra ways to verify signs from the universe/your deities. Thus, if your experience matches the criteria youâve requested, then it is significantly more likely to be a genuine sign.Â
There were repeated symbols within your experience- Consistent and clear repetition of specific actions, symbols, figures, meaningful numbers, or words is undeniably more meaningful than simply having one odd experience. In this case, your experience is much more likely to be a sign because the universe/your deities may be using repetition to catch and hold your attention.Â
The experience was highly unusual for its surrounding environment- The key element of this indicator is contrast. If the experience seems unsuited or âout of placeâ for its environment, then it is more likely to be a sign because the specific experience is being highlighted in notable contrast to what is around you, which is another way of catching your attention.Â
There were specific symbols that connect to your deity- Most deities have specific symbols, figures, meaningful numbers, or words that are known to be connected to their role as a religious or spiritual figure. If your experience features key elements that tie to a deity you worship, then it is more likely to be a sign because there are specific references to your deity within your experience.Â
You felt an intense, distinct reaction to your experience that sparked an immediate connection- If you discover after your experience that you feel extremely certain that it is a sign, and this is paired with a distinct physical/emotional âgutâ feeling, then you should pay attention! This is likely your intuition telling you that this is a genuine sign.
With that said, this post isnât meant to burst anyoneâs bubble or tell you that your experience isnât a ârealâ sign! These are just some guidelines that Iâve created along my spiritual path that I use when Iâm trying to interpret the signs and experiences I receive. If you have another set of guidelines of your own that differ from mine, thatâs perfectly okay- our interpretations of spiritual experiences are allowed to have variation. You may believe an experience is a sign when I may not interpret it as such, or vice versa, and thatâs cool! Donât allow anyone to make you doubt yourself when it comes to your intuition and your gut feelings- After all, you have the deepest understanding of yourself and your spiritual path.Â

Wal-Mart has incense sticks/cones in packs of 40 for 84¢ and a standard wood burners for 84¢ as well. Add the cost of a lighter and you can now cleanse anything for less than $4.00
If you want to get a little fancier, Wal-Mart also has decorative incense stick holders and cone covers from $4-$10 I have a flower blossom stick holder I got for $5 that not only looks adorable but comes with quite a bit of incense in the set
Around back to school time, notebooks are very cheap-for my first/rough draft grimoire I got a pretty pink composition notebook for 50¢ and a pack of pens for $1.00-use this to record all the information you want to put in your final draft grimoire here (and honestly itâs great to have just a little book that I donât care if it gets battered up)
Like pasta? Save your sauce jars, wash them out well, and BOOM-spell jars.  Iâve been living off shells with Alfredo sauce and Iâm saving up tons and tons of jars
DOLLAR STORES-literally most of my witchy stuff I got at my local dollar store. Dollar stores are the absolute best for finding candles. They have tall candles, short candles, tea candles, votive candles, scented candles, unscented candles, LED candles, candle holders, you name it, dollar stores have it. So far from my local dollar store Iâve gotten
3 tall, unscented candles in glass jars (1 white, 1 yellow and 1 blue)
a 16 PACK of unscented tea candles. thatâs right, SIXTEEN. for a DOLLAR. thatâs less than 10¢ a candle
a really adorable holder for said tea candles
a 2 pack of white, unscented taper candles
a medium sized LED candle (batteries were included in this one, but that was the only one I could find with batteries included, however most dollar stores also sell batteries)
Donât have the space for a big tabletop altar (also for closeted witches)? a tin of mints is around $2.50 and, empty of mints, makes a great tiny, hide-able altar space. it fits conveniently in a purse or bag and wonât arouse suspicion. Tape sigils to the inside, spell recipes on tiny cards, chants, a tea light and a lighter, the possibilities are endless
follow crystal shops on Instagram, a lot of crystal shops will have âflash salesâ on social media, so you can scoop up great crystals for a good price

Disclaimer: This is all based on my research, path, opinion & experiences! Intro: I really was holding out on doing this post because itâs such a big, important topic to cover and I really donât want to mess it up or get anything wrong. This post needs to be done though, people have asked if I have such a post and an anon suggested it. So finally, here it is. - What Is Warding? Warding is a type of magick, it is the act of creating an energetic barrier around you, your home, an object, ect. They can be temporary or permanent, although typically they are cast with the long term in mind. They can banish or turn away whatever you choose. Warding is an excellent skill to have because it can keep you, and even others safe and with practice you can do it anytime with just about whatever you have on hand. When Should I Ward? Whenever you want an energetic barrier around you, most people consistently ward their home, themselves or their place of practice. Some people even ward their space every time they prepare for a spell. It should be done consistently in any area you want protected, but exactly where and how often is entirely up to the practitioner. What Should I Do Before? Cleanse, a ward is a barrier of energy and in the same way that it keeps things out it also keeps things in. You donât want to trap anything inside of it. Cleanse yourself before you ward yourself. Cleanse your space before you ward your space! Tips Before You Ward- Phrasing Keep the phrasing in mind! You donât want to keep anything out that you want in, or let something in that you want out. If youâre chanting or using sigils ect keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out both in your methods and in your mind. Covering everything Make sure to cover everything, a ward is useless if thereâs a weakness in it or if the ceiling & floor arenât probably covered. Be super thorough! Layering Your Wards One small little wimpy barrier? Ha, the spirits say as they scramble into your home to wreak havoc! You need to layer your wards, donât just use one method one time, thereâs no such thing as too much warding. What Are Some Ways That I Can Ward? Now weâll get right down to the methods you can use to ward yourself and your space! Remember that warding is important and needs to be effective, donât try anything that you donât have experience with for warding. At first, focus on the stuff you know. If you like sigils, use sigils at first and slowly work your way into using other more complex methods or methods that solely rely on your abilities. Circle Casting You cast a circle by summoning the four elements to protect & energize what is in the circle. - Hereâs my post about circles & how to cast them Chanting/Speaking Come up with a protective chant you can use to ward your space. This chant could be someone elseâs or your own as long as you feel itâs effective. Speak it aloud and visualize a layer of energy protecting your space. Incense Burn a protective incense in the space youâd like to ward and visualize a barrier protecting your space. Athame Draw out the line of your ward with your athame, visualize the wall appearing, covering everything with a thick layer of energy. Spraying Spray a mix of blessed/magickal waters and or herbs with protective properties in the space you want to ward. Sigils Create a sigil using your favorite method with the intent to âwardâ or âprotect/protection.â Then charge and activate it as a layer of protection! Hereâs my post on sigils if youâre interested in that: - Sigil Post Jar Spells You could mix up a jar spell for warding, set it in your house and forget it as a layer of warding. - My protective jar spell post Anointment Anoint the doorways of your space, you could also anoint the ceiling, floor, walls, corners, honestly go for it. Salt Sprinkle salt all around the edge of your home or space. Make sure to sprinkle salt on the INSIDE of your harm as salt can harm plants & wildlife if used outside. If youâd like to make a barrier on the outside of your home, you can use dried & crushed eggshells in place of salt. - Post on how to make eggshell powder here - Hag stones Hag stones are stones with holes in them that have been corroded into the stone because of rushing water. It is believed rushing water is protective & cleansing so if you wear a stone that sat in it long enough to have parts corroded away, that the stone will maintain and keep those properties with it. Itâs a great way to personally ward yourself, and an excuse to go out in nature. They look like this!Â
Energy Manipulation If youâve got a knack for manipulating energy, you can create a barrier through work and visualization that surrounds yourself or your space. This isnât recommended for beginners though! Links: - Horse Warding Charm By @anothersusurrus - House Warding Spritz Mixture By @seleneblackwell Both of these are great if youâre looking for specific spells, types of magick, correspondences, sigils, ect! - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 1 By @auricwitch - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 2 By @auricwitch Personal Wards Also remember not just to ward your space but yourself, if you layer your home with wards, what happens when you leave? Exactly. Keep yourself safe too! Circle casting & hag stones are great methods I mentioned above that are good for personal warding. Can I Ward Specific Things And Not Others? Absolutely! I mentioned this in the phrasing section of this post, keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out when youâre warding. I like words like ânegativeâ or âharmfulâ or âwith ill intentâ because they donât necessarily keep out the Fae or positive/neutral spirits but it does keep out anything that wants to harm you in general. Just think about it ahead of time, find wording or a phrase you like and keep that in mind as you ward. What If I Live With People? If youâre out of the broom closet, explain to your family/roommates what youâre doing and why youâre doing it and make sure theyâre cool with it and are aware of whatâs going on. If youâre not out of the broom closet, you may have to resort to only warding yourself/your room, & thatâs okay! I hope this helps someone or teaches them something new! Enjoy! Have a lovely day đ
