I think the most solid thing I could find was Akutagawa's wiki, specifically on the section on Dazai — which states that he was taken in at 14 in The Heartless Cur?
Also, during the anime adaptation his outfit looks closer to what he wore during 14-15, which is the coat hanging over his shoulders but drooping down in front of him?^^
Age 16, during the Dragon Head Conflict, he was wearing a two piece suit, I think?
So I think 16 as the age Dazai took in Akutagawa is canon?^^ Of course, I might be wrong!^^
I've recently seen multiple people say that in the Heartless Cur Akutagawa was 14 and Dazai 16, but is there any source to that? I thought the timeframe was never explicitated, but of course I might be missing something.
All the elements that I can think of that we know for sure are:
It must have happened before they were 16/18 (their ages during Dark Era)
It must have happened after Stormbringer; in The Heartless Cur Dazai says that that same day he was promoted to executive, which is something (timeskips aside) he wasn't for the entirety of sb (correct me if I'm wrong).
Same as above, it must have happened after the Dragon's Head Conflict because I *think* Dazai still wasn't an executive back then (I may be wrong. I know nothing of the dhc).
I guess it all boils down to how old Dazai was when he was promoted executive, but I don't think that was ever stated, not even in Dark Era... ?
“Everything passes. That is the one and only thing that I have thought resembled a truth in the society of human beings where I have dwelled up to now as in a burning hell. Everything passes.”

Personally, I think this song fits Dazai
The title translates to 'Tefu tefu', a sort of outdated way for saying 'butterfly'.

if your asian activism doesnt include ALL asians then it is useless. if your asian activism thinks asia is japan, korea, and china and MAYBE a few s/se asian countries, it is not asian activism. asia is a massive continent that includes north asia and the middle east (surprise, the middle east is w asia).
yes weeaboos and koreaboos are asian issues and so is anti chinese racism and general anti e asian racism spiking bc of covid, but those are not the ONLY asian issues.
what’s happening to palestine is an asian issue. what’s happening in armenia is an asian issue. what’s happening in india is an asian issue. there are asian issues i am nowhere near informed enough about to bring up on this post. include these communities and countries in your asian activism. they are a part of the larger asian community. do not forget them.

so I'm making this character, and I really wanted her ability to be called 'Mad Dog' because of the connotation. I was also researching stuff and found out the dangers of them, which I wanted to explore with her ability. At the same time, I really like the sorrowful meaning behind bulls and the masculine connotation that's had with them.
so could I like, combine it?? like, if the ability is called 'Mad Dog' could I get away with it actually being personified as a bull?
Especially in BSD, there's alot of sorrow being confused with anger, and anger with sorrow, etc. Like Dazai & Chuuya and Atsushi & Akutagawa, Ango & Dazai.
So, hypothetically????????????
I pulled Dazai!! (≧▽≦)
I love him and his antics so much <3 who flirts with a lion and then gets bitten <3 he does, he shouldn't be trusted in any public spaces please (read: PLEASE) keep him away from any public spaces <3
The snow lying on the roof tiles is a touch hard, the dead trees’ twigs are sleepy like a deer; six o’clock on a winter morning, my head too is sleepy.
The birds pass by singing - the garden earth is sleepy like a deer. - The wood has fled, the farmhouse has fled. The sky is sad weakness. My heart is sad…
- Nakahara Chūya, “Winter Daybreak” from The Poems of Nakahara Chūya
Something I find really beautiful about this chapter is Atsushi subconsciously finding his tendency to rely on his emotions as a strength — he had no logical conclusion as to why the ADA members were alive, but instinctively, in his heart, he knew.
The same for Akutagawa — he knew that Akutagawa would remember, in his heart, with the doubt of his mind. I believe it was a quote Atsushi had said earlier, but I believe it's the core of his character — "The head may err, but never the blood".
The heart is a mysterious thing, because it makes sense without any logical basis. The heart is a trust, a senseless trust with a sense of clarity. Dazai in Atsushi's subconscious saying, "Feel strongly. That's what you do when you want to experience the past", brings me to believe that Atsushi has become better at living. Atsushi, by only living in the present, has become the only person fit to defy the space, because the present in the agreement of the past and future.
In other words, I believe Atsushi is the heart.
