YES!! This was absotutely done on purpose and explains his character in a neat kind of way, like how he's inherently by your side from the very beggining + it's really telling of how summoner was always intended to be polaris in some way

There's also some other cool little astronomy connections which I find cute like how the arcturus star is known for it's orange hue bc of it's temperature (hence an orange boi <3)

^^as well as this maybe being a stretch but maybe explaining his actions on the 12th floor yk 🤔

For sirius I also found out why he's so sparkly and 🌈💅✨️

As a hadestown fan™ I made this connection a while ago but I didn't how much his story line was inspired until I found this

....The connection that vega has to the summoner through their past as childhood friends was inspired by the greek mythological story of Orpheus and Eurydice

(((In lots of other iterations of this story, orpheus turns around not because of a simple misunderstanding but more for his inherit axiety in leaving behind his loved one! Example below!)))

The Contell emblem is meant to resemble Polaris' shield. It everywhere at the academy. In the halls, in the committee room, and even the shield itself is displayed to honor the late sorcerer. He has to be reminded of Polaris every single day, and everywhere he goes in the academy. The only place he can remove it from is where it sits over his heart on his uniform. RIP bro sounds like a skill issue
