Oh I do love the parallels the animators put in.
Even if itâs not super obvious or like for like, itâs so well thought through and means rewatching every episode is such a joy and excitement when things connect.
This tweet lives rent-free in my head now. Hands-down the best comment about the relationship between art and artist.

Apparently people who don't have executive dysfunction think that actually working on something is the hardest part of doing something. And that's why they get mad that you call the rest of the project "easy" after you've finally worked through doing the plan and know what to do when you're working.
So when you're through with the epiphany of how to make it physically possible to make the thing you're making, and you're sharing the plan with excitement, because the hard part is over, and now you only have to get your hands moving and do it, they get mad at you like
"it's not that easy! It's a lot of hard work! >:C"
they mean it, because
They don't have to fight their brains to get started. They don't have to fight their way through making the choices, making the plan, making yourself make the thing. People who don't suffer from executive dysfunction think that the hardest part is actually doing the thing.
Nope now itâs at the point that iâm shocked that people off tt donât know whatâs going down. I have no reach but iâll sum it up anyway.
SCOTUS is hearing on the constitutionality of the ban as tiktok and creators are arguing that it is a violation of our first amendment rights to free speech, freedom of the press and freedom to assemble.
SCOTUS: tiktok bad, big security concern because china bad!
Tiktok lawyers: if china is such a concern why are you singling us out? Why not SHEIN or temu which collect far more information and are less transparent with their users?
SCOTUS (out loud): well you see we donât like how users are communicating with each other, itâs making them more anti-american and china could disseminate pro china propaganda (get it? They literally said they do not like how we Speak or how we Assemble. Independent journalists reach their audience on tt meaning they have Press they want to suppress)
Tiktok users: this is fucking bullshit i donât want to lose this community what should we do? We donât want to go to meta or x because they both lobbied congress to ban tiktok (free market capitalism amirite? Paying off your local congressmen to suppress the competition is totally what the free market is about) but nothing else is like TikTok
A few users: what about xiaohongshu? Itâs the Chinese version of tiktok (not quite, douyin is the chinese tiktok but itâs primarily for younger users so xiaohongshu was chosen)
16 hours later:
Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.
My fyp is a mix of âi would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reelsâ and âi will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anywayâ and âim just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!â etc.
So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh itâs adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.
This is adorable and so not what they were expecting. Im sure they were expecting a reluctant return to reels and shorts to fill the void but tiktokers said fuck that, we will forge connections across the world. Who you tell me is my enemy i will make my friend. Thatâs pretty damn cool.
"Waa why aren't fandoms fun anymore" because you keep policing people's headcanons, make fun of cosplayers, make fun of selfshipers, make fun of beginner artists and just make fun of people for having fun đ
ELECTRIC KISS! Finally done with my silly little fan animation!
HUGE thank you for screenofthesius (twitter/blesky) for composing and recording the piano tunes. g the piano tunes. :notes:
the concept and idea of âyou can always start trying to be a better personâ is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better personÂ
from a compassionate point of view itâs deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view itâs outright frustrating
itâs fucked up.Â
Why did âbe critical of your mediaâ turn into âfind all its flaws and hate itâ why did people become allergic to FUN
Honestly, some fanfics seriously need "AU" or "ooc" markings, because some writers try to write about these characters, but in reality, it can be at best slightly, and at worst, very different from the original character, which, frankly, is often upsetting. And I understand that some writers can simply misunderstand/misinterpret these characters, but this is also a problem that would not exist if they wrote "AU/ooc" :(
And no negativity, I know a lot of writers do try and I do appreciate writers as much as any other artist (especially, as a writer and an artist myself), because it's a hard job and it takes creativity and skill (which you gain over time, all writers started somewhere and that's okay), but it's still bad writing if you're treating and selling these characters as "canon", but they're either very different or nothing like canon at all.
This is especially a problem for me when it comes from experienced writers and it's really sad that you see something that's well written and the conveyance of the characters' emotions, the characterization and writing, and the plot are great, but the fit with these specific characters is partially/completely zero and you're like "damn, I think they got this wrong". And again, this problem can be avoided by labeling it as "AU/ooc", especially if the writer likes their interpretation of the character more than the canon one. There's nothing wrong with liking a character's version better, you just have to accept that it's non-canon, that's all.
this is ultimately a personal preference but for me fanfiction hinges on correctly nailing the character's voice and mannerisms. When I say "they would not fucking say that" it's often not about the situation that's happening; it's about little tics and preferences and above all, diction. I'm not typically huge on AUs but I can be swayed if you nail the voice. and I am personally absolutely SHIT at writing plot, there's a reason my fic is pretty much entirely one-shots of emotional conversations, but you know what I can do is match a voice. and if you can do that as well I am along for the ride and if you can do that AND write plot you are a fucking genius and if you can't do that I'm clicking out of your fic the second people start talking.

At Voxtek, we strive for nothing less than perfection ~
Or something something about feeling inadequate (totally not projecting)
Feeling insane about Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel bc you could read so much into the apple motifs truly everywhere around him. And I will.
Obviously the instances that draw the most attention are the staff and the tophat. But if you look deeper into lore about Hazbin Hotel and the Hellaverse you find lulu world and loo loo land and OTHER Lucifer themed amusement parks/circus shows. All whose mascots are garish, but they are also APPLES. And to have the apple, which is so obviously representative as being THE GIFT he gives to humanity being so prominent in all designs that even allude to Lucifer, is such a strong and loud choice. For it to be so vividly called upon and referenced is so very interesting, because it ties this fallen Angel to one single defining choice that is widely suggested to have doomed the entire earth to suffering.
But those arenât even close to the most interesting instance by far. Because it has to be the coat, right? It has to be the act of physically cloaking yourself in the symbol, therefore making YOU the gift. But itâs not quite an apple, though, is it? His coat, though the imagery is more subtle than other apple references, is deliberately designed to visually liken itself to an apple CORE.
A physical manifestation of leftovers, the common conclusion to what happens after an apple is given as a gift.
The trash.
To have a character that has the baggage that Lucifer already has; an entity attributed with the fall of first himself and then all of humanity, dress himself as the used and useless part of the apple, is so wildly coded for tragedy. And it works for me. Because Angel or not, Lucifer is a man who is so violently defined by everyone in the context of a single action that he, himself also defines himself by it.
It is a statement, though he may not understand what heâs actually sayingâI might even be inclined to believe that this particular claim is entirely unconscious, but even subliminally it is bold.
Heâs saying heâs the gift. The gift of knowledge and dreams and free will. He is saying âThe snake might be the usual emphasis but what I really am is the apple. I am the gift that was accepted and used and cast aside. I am the thing you regret and repent over. I am the apple core.â
And wow is that such an interesting statement to make about the actual serpent that doomed mankind(Iâm not religious in the slightest but I still think this concept goes hard) because it showcases such a level of loathing directed directly at himself, and his choices, and everything he represents. It proves that he looks at his gift to humanity and sees only the pain itâs brought. He doesnât believe in his cause anymore. He gave humanity knowledge and hope and dreams and joy and pride and the will to strive for all of those wonderful things, and he is regretful. He is downtrodden. He views himself, the king of hell, as the trash leftover after the greatest mistake in all of creation.
Thatâs so insanely tragic, but it can be looked at in a different light as well.
Because the core of an apple hosts something very important; the potential for great and lasting growth. The thing that makes Lucifer so dangerous to heaven that they had to crush him, and beat him down, to banish him, and to kill his people, and to keep him separated from the good in the world, is that his very being fosters growth. And they wanted him to forget that.
And they almost succeeded. But they made one mistake. They underestimated his daughter. And the second that Lucifer decides to support her dreams, what does he say????
He says âlooks like the apple doesnât fall farâ
And well. I just think thatâs neat.
Building a new hotel must be tiring, rest here my dear.

there are a lot of bad takes in the atla fandom (like, atla fandom may as well be a bad take generator) but something that has really been pissing me off lately is the assumption that you can categorize the fire nation royal family into good guys and bad guys. first of all, obviously, they're all bad guys. they are imperialists. but the idea that "sozin ozai azula bad" and "iroh lu ten ursa zuko azulon(?!) good" is actually insane.
lu ten died attempting to conquer the earth kingdom. lu ten was there because his father, iroh, was leading the siege. ursa laughed when iroh joked about burning ba sing se to the ground. zuko laughed too, mirroring his dear mother who taught him about the wonders of imperialism. and the fact that some people think that azulon was a good guy because he favored iroh is crazy. he favored iroh because iroh was the better imperialist, was more charming and tactically savvy as he bent the world to his will. people who think that azulon didn't like ozai because ozai was cruel literally have it backwards. ozai was cruel because azulon didn't like him. sozin shaped azulon, and azulon shaped iroh and ozai. azulon reigned for most of the war, and he was responsible for decimating the southern water tribe and colonizing the earth kingdom.
iroh only realizes the error of his ways well into middle age, after spending a majority of his life colonizing the world. he only stops to reconsider once he experiences the adverse effects of war for himself through the loss of his son. likewise, zuko can only gain empathy for the victims of the war by being one himself, as a refugee in the earth kingdom, and bonding with people who have been hurt by the fire nation. azula doesn't get that chance. ozai doesn't get that chance. azulon, lu ten, and ursa are dead, so they will never get that chance. but it's not like there is some ontological moral divide separating azula from zuko. zuko was a sensitive child whereas azula was better at embodying fire nation values of power and cunning. zuko was punished for his outbursts whereas azula knew how to keep her mouth shut. therefore, zuko experienced circumstances that led him to disavow fire nation imperialism.
but that doesn't mean that azula is ontologically evil. azula was the iroh of her generation to zuko's ozai, and iroh (eventually) disavowed conquest as well. there is no inherent divide between good and bad, monster and human. ursa was a warm and loving mother to zuko, just as iroh was a warm and loving father to lu ten, but they both laughed at others' suffering. their values were shaped by their circumstances and experiences. their ideologies do not make them less human, or less capable of change, just as their interpersonal behaviors do not negate their abhorrent ideologies.
Zuko having a connection to the spirit world but instead of it being something deep and profound, itâs just because he spent three years pre-finding the avatar running towards the first weird magical shit he saw.
The older you get the more you will realize that your friends are people who have made mistakes and bad decisions and even just fucked up and hurt people.
And obviously your boundaries with your friends are completely up to you but you do need to recognize that if you cut off everyone who has done something wrong, youâre going to end up with no friends (and you yourself will have also fucked up in your life, and not lived up to those impossible standards either).
Iâve found itâs much more constructive to learn how to say âhey dude, that was massively fucked up of you,â because most people are really willing to say âyeah, it was, I need to work on it/not do it again/apologize and make things rightâ ESPECIALLY if they are hearing it from you as their friend.
Still love howling void being Bill's first. Makes the fact he talks about her twice in tbob milleniums and several partners later kind of sad and very hilarious
I've gotta break this down, this demands itemization. She comes up three times total in TBOB and they are:
denying he dated the void, it was totally just a coffee date
a hidden message on the romance page that says "I MISS THE VOID"
hidden away in the deluxe edition, on a page talking about various BS holidays, "I briefly dated knew a howling void" while sharing a holiday he learned from her even though he's not fully convinced it's a real thing, which means she made an impact on him, he thinks unprompted about things she told him, long after they parted ways bits and pieces of his life have been shaped by her
âand good god if you're a fan neck-deep in character analysis that's just enough info to make you rabid.
I headcanon the howling void as one of Bill's... well, not best relationships, because it was pretty shit (100% Bill's fault)âbut one of his emotionally deepest relationships. Specifically because it was his first.
Because that means he hadn't yet learned what he's like in relationships (selfish, controlling, manipulative, progressively more emotionally & then physically abusive, and thus doomed to destroy the relationship), so he went into it thinking "this could last forever" instead of "this is a fling that'll last a couple centuries at best before it inevitably self-destructs for reasons completely outside my control"âwhich means he put up way fewer emotional walls and facades.
He let her get a whole lot closer than most partners because he hadn't yet learned the hard way that letting someone get close hurts when he loses themâand he will lose them. Because he sucks.
