The other 'dimensions' didn't exist until Sonic shattered the prism and refracted "light" to create the illusion of other dimensions. The alternate versions of his friends were more like concepts than static, everpresent beings with a past of their own.

You can think of them as though they're the light refracted off of and distorted from the images of his friends.

Sonic, being the one to break the prism, was not exposed to this refraction in the same way as he was at the epicenter and therefor no light made any illusions based off of him. He did however become a paradoxical fallacy and existed in a sort of… Schrödinger's Box state?

Shadow, doing a no-clip chaos control at the very moment the prism broke, avoided this event all together.

At least, that's how I understand it? I feel like the other dimensions went away once the prism was put back together. There was a lot of imagery of refraction/prisms (layers of colour) spreading out upon shattering, so I'd imagine if each layer of colour represents a paradox dimension/alter, then putting it back together would squish everything down again.

That might also be why Green Hill Zone broke since its components were spread out rather than layered all at once like they're supposed to be?

Does Sonic have alternate versions of himself like his friends do? If so where the hell was he? Did he get like replaced by original Sonic? What about Shadow? (he's always a no-show so this isn't too important)

I have seen at least 6 people I follow on BlueSky saying they have looked into their numbers and compared to Twitter? BSky gives them over double the exposure and follow through for outside links (probably because Twitter kills your tweet if you have links).

Twitter is testing a feature to allow other users to click a button attached to your posts to put your art into their Grok ai and make ai art with it without your permission automatically.

It is marking non-ai art as being made with Grok (probably to promote it).

elon musk has been incredibly innovative when it comes to giving people reasons to stop using twitter.

his latest push: all pictures posted to twitter will have a "recreate in grok" button beneath it, allowing anyone to feed your art straight into an AI with 0 control from you.

also, i presume because of this feature, artists are getting their original works tagged as "created with Grok".

I'm probably missing something here, but I always found it kind of strange how some artists will depict Knuckles without gloves as having these spurs on his hands. I guess that is quite a literal and straight forward way of representing the shapes of his gloves, and I don't think there's anything wrong or incorrect about this depiction (especially if it actually showed up in cannon somewhere and I just didn't see it), but personally I don't see it that way.

I always kind of figured that those two little points were meant to be something that he was concealing underneath his gloves rather than something that is a part of his body.

My logic being... The gloves he wears are boxing gloves. Boxing gloves are meant to soften the impact of a punch so that you don't kill your opponent or otherwise seriously mess them up while participating in the sport. Knuckles was introduced as an antagonist who later on became a good guy, right. So I kind of figured that the reason he had shapes under his boxing gloves (which are supposed to be for fairness's sake) are because he's 'cheating'. Putting something heavy or even dangerous underneath or around your boxing gloves can negate the softening effect and cause even worse damage to your opponent.

His tribe is called the Knuckles tribe. He's named Knuckles because he's the last one. I figured his tribe was called the Knuckles tribe because they specialized so well in hand-to-hand combat that the weapons they developed and were known to use were brass knuckles. I figured that's what he was hiding under there, and that's why I draw him without the boxing gloves, fully exposing weapon that has been hidden underneath his gloves this whole time.

(I like to draw them hanging on his side when not in use so his hands are free to grab stuff.)

So I guess in summary, I kind of figured it was meant to convey the message that Knuckles can and does fight dirty. We continue to see that he will resort to underhanded techniques here and there, even if they've become less frequent with time. (Most recent example I can think of is when he threw a rock at the last robot standing in the Frontiers Prologue)

To me, conveying them as random spurs (something echidnas don't really have) feels a bit too literal and loses some flavour. Also I like decorating the iron knuckles to have aztec serpents carved into them or something, as if maybe they belonged to his father or he uncovered them from the ruins on Angel Island or something. It adds some culture and history to his character that I really like.

this was a fun exercise because tbh i prefer anthros... but stepping out of my comfort zone to draw a human again for the first time in like a year was neat. trying to think about how i regard his features when i draw him as an echidnabear thing and how to translate that onto a human body was interesting

Hi I'm not dead

I've been rebalancing priorities ever since September-ish. I have some coms I still owe and besides that I haven't been drawing much. That's not to say not at all, just the things that I have doodled have been low-effort, low-energy scribbles.

As soon as I get these coms finished I'd like to get back to doodling semi-frequently again. 2024 was a good year for me art-wise, I made more art than ever, more than the previous two years combined. That's huge!

Although it's also unprecedented and potentially unsustainable. I got a bit addicted to how much reception I had been receiving and might have burned myself out.

Once I wrap up my affairs, I'd like to slow down the pace. I don't want to lean full into posting nonstop like I once did, but I also don't want to continue being radio silent like this either.

I also need to get over this mental block of "no one will care" - that is, if I post non-sonic stuff that I work on, it won't be received as well. I know I shouldn't care, so I'll try not to and post anyways.

I'll have to get into the habit of posting on Bluesky as well since I still draw adult stuff. I don't want to close off that piece of myself since I'm proud of my art and what I do. I'll begin working on censoring the original image when posted here and linking over to Bsky for the full, uncensored version.

Come 2025, I'm excited to see where my art takes me now that I've put Twitter to bed.

A writer friend told me something that broke my heart a little bit today; they're going to quit publishing their fanfic.

My instant thought was that they had been trolled or attacked or that something terrible had happened in their life because this person is so passionate about their writing. It wasn't any of that. Engagement with their works has been going down, as it has for many of us. Comments are like gold dust a lot of the time, and just looking through the historical comment counts on old fics on ao3 demonstrates this trend very clearly. It was not simply the comments dropping off which caused them to decide to stop posting, however.

My friend came across a discord server for their fandom (I should point out here that their fandom interest and mine diverged a couple of years ago, we stay in touch but don't currently read each other's posts because I'm not into their fandom and they would rather gouge their eyes out with a wooden spoon than read anything Star Wars) and specifically to share fic in that fandom. They joined, because we all love a good fic rec, only to discover that their latest multichapter fic, which has almost no comments and very few kudos, is being hotly discussed in this server as one of the best stories ever. Not one of these people has bothered to say this to them on the fic. When they asked, none of participants could see the point in telling the author of the fic they apparently loved so much that they love it.

This discovery has absolutely destroyed my friend's love of sharing fic. They share because they love seeing other people's enjoyment, and fic writers do that through comments and kudos/reblogs/likes because we don't get paid. There is no literary critic writing a blog post/article about how amazing the story is for us to copy and keep/frame. There is no money from royalties. All we have are the words of the people reading our works.

Those people on that server could have taken five minutes of the time they spent gushing about how amazing my friend's story was to other people and used it to tell the one person guaranteed to want to hear that praise how much they loved it. They could have taken a moment to express their opinion to the person who spent hours upon hours plotting, writing, editing, and posting those chapters. Instead, they deprived my friend of thing that keeps them sharing their writing, and in the process have killed their love of it. My friend now feels used and unmotivated.

I won't be sharing a link to their fic, they said I could share their experience but not their identity. I know they plan to post one final chapter. I know they intend to express their hurt at being excluded from the praise for the thing they created, and I know they intend to announce that as a consequence they will not be posting for a long while, if at all.

So please, I beg you, don't hide your love of a story from the writer. It's just about the only thing we have.

someone I follow on the bird app just announced they’re starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they’re reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic

I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS

I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there’s 10,000 other people that will continue…but if you participate in a fic “book club” server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?

the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don’t rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit “post”

Messaging people for the first time is so hard. What am I supposed to say? Like, "You seem really odd and your blog intrigues me. Do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters?" What! Whatever. I will just follow you back and stare at your blog with my big beautiful brown eyes.
