The Colors On My IPad Look Janky As Hell As I Draw This 💀 But I Wanted To Draw Another Quick Exploration

Just finished Darla’s slightly older design! Now she’s with everyone else, yay! She’s about 15 in this design so all the ages go, Darla 15, Mary 16, Billy 16, Freddy 18. And I’m done with the main cast now yippieeee! ~✨

Note: I always say “about (age)” when I post designs, because since I have birthdays for all of them it really depends on the time of year I’m writing In. 💀

Kalypso’s Powers~ ✨🌀

Here is some of my writing for my version of the Daughters of Atlas. Since they’re from the magic realm I thought I would make their skin colorful, similar to the gods from Disney’s Hercules.

This is just a little story sample I had in my mind when I was envisioning how I want her powers to work. The way they work in Fury of the Gods is cool and all, but I wanted to add something more fantastical and visually wicked.

And don’t worry guys once the Shazamly comes to Billy’s rescue the curse of madness gets reversed. Just having his family around him to validate that magic is real, and to check in on him is enough to reverse the damage done to his psyche and return his arms/veins to normal.

Although, please do be warned, Kalypso’s curse is no joke because once the curse has fully corrupted a person, there is no cure to their madness, and their mental state will be permanently altered.

When I post the final for this I’ll probably write a little blurb of text that explains some stuff about The Rock of Eternity, and how it’s kinda a physical manifestation of The Wizard’s heart.

Lol I ended up tracing over my original Shazam design because I was mostly working on this drawing while I was at work, on my phone.

I had it a lot more purple at first but then changed it over to be more of a worn bronze color.

GOAL/DESIRE

After years of disappointment in the foster system, Billy's goal/desire throughout the story is to find his “true family” where he wants to feel a true sense of love & belonging.

FEAR

Billy fears that he will never find a group of people who will want to love/care for him & that he will spend the rest of his life isolated and alone.

MISBELIEF

Billy is under the misbelief that his birth mother is the only person who can give him this sense of belonging. Billy’s memories of her from his early childhood are the only moments of his life he ever felt truly cared for.

CHARACTER ARC

Billy starts the story as a troubled teen who lets his misbelief that his birth mother is his one “true family” guide his every decision.

This leads to him to act cold/distant from the people in his life that are trying to make an emotional connection with him. He’s had a long history of being emotionally burned before, and he’s not interested in getting attached to another temporary home.

Throughout the arc of his story he learns to open himself up to the Vasquez siblings. When the Vasquez siblings give Billy that sense of love/belonging he was looking for, Billy learns that family isn't defined by blood but by people who genuinely care about you.

Freddy is a free-spirited and fun loving character. He approaches every aspect of his life with a sly humor despite his troubled upbringing and unfortunate life circumstances.

Freddy’s role in the story is to be a friendly opposer to Billy, Countering his more cynical/jaded view on the world with levity.

Freddy is the first sibling to form a meaningful connection with Billy, which allows him to express his struggles/worries openly.

Freddy understands Billy’s struggles and meets him where he’s at emotionally, instead of trying to force a fake persona of happiness onto him like many have before.

LESSON OVERVIEW

Freddy’s lesson throughout the story is helping Billy lighten up a little bit so he can form better connections with others.

Helping him understand that even though they’ve both been hurt a lot in the past, he shouldn’t emotionally “shut down” and let those experiences negatively impact how he interacts with the world.

Freddy’s light-hearted and silly personality doesn't come from a place of naivete, but it’s an active choice. A choice that Freddy makes everyday to appreciate the little celebrations in life. Making him really emotionally open and socially approachable despite his troubled upbringing.
