So that’s why he’s such an underused character in G1 :0 It always made me sad that he appears so rarely and disappears for episodes and episodes at a time. “Only use when necessary” oof.

Anyways glad to see a straightforward explanation of this, I knew there was legal issues but I didn’t know exactly how it changed or why he went from Jetfire to Skyfire to Jetfire again. The toy lines always be messing with the show. Reminds me of Rumble and Frenzy’s mixed up colors thanks to confusion between the show and the toys lol

Thank you ! And yes ! Let me explain the Skyfire Jetfire name situation !

So Jetfire’s original toy came from the Macross Super Valkyrie and he looked like this.

Hasbro licensed Jetfire (the toy) to be used in the Transformers line but did not license him to be used in media (the show). When Jetfire appeared in a commercial fighting Shockwave, Macross sued Hasbro over the use of Jetfire, as they had not licensed him to be used as a character in the show and continued to sue them over Jetfire which is why they had to redesign Jetfire and change his name to Skyfire in the Generation 1 Cartoon.

Hasbro avoided using Jetfire/Skyfire in the show too much so that Macross wouldn’t sue them, it’s even stated in the original pitch bible

Things were eventually sorted out legal wise and now Hasbro can use Jetfire’s name without being sued which is why his name is Jetfire and no longer Skyfire

When he’s got his armor on I think it’s a homage to his original Valkyrie design which i find very charming !

BUT YEAH— THATS BASICALLY THE GIST OF IT !

Originally named Jetfire -> name changed to Skyfire in the G1 Cartoon to avoid getting sued by Macross -> Legal issues sorted -> name changed back to Jetfire

His names are kind of used interchangeably now ! But it just depends on whoever you ask !

I recommend watching The Many Toys of Jetfire if you wanna learn some more about it, Ronbondujon goes over it better than I do and also goes over all of Jetfire’s toys !

On the morning of November 26th, while walking the dog, I was struck by a vision of this project, and so, fueled by nothing but Skystar hyperfixation, me and @yasbeych have made a thing!! They made and sung the song, and I wrote the lyrics and drew/edited the video.

Does anyone in the transformers fandom have a fic where starscream is the one too get stuck in the ice instead of skyfire/ Jetfire?

Cause I really one too read one like it, it sounds like it could be really interesting and I really wonder how everything in transformers would transpire with starscream in the ice and sky/jetfire not

being sparkbonded, Skyfire feels Starscream's struggle on the surface: exhaustion, energon starvation and other kinds of discomforts in a form of his body and spark aching. But he's husband supposed to be dead so the old man is confused. (btw the whole idea's of course Ray's and Edd's, i just got too excited about it and wanted to draw stuff. They are geniuses fr fr.)

Hiii!!! Thanks for the ask, I'm really happy that so many people liked my little girl <3 So I've brought some sketches and some lore bits

SO, first of all, despite the meme i drew, Skyfire is the carrier and Starscream is the sire. Because I find it funny, and also Aurora is a shuttle. She was pretty big even before coming online, so... It was just logical for a bigger jet to carry her. Of course there was a possibility for creating a smaller sparkling but why risking at all.

Second, some lore: she was created before war. She was a planned sparkling, in my au (is this an au? what am i even doing.) Skystars are Conjunx Endura. They courted each other during their studentship and got engaged after becoming full-time scientists with degrees and stuff.

When Aurora became independent enough, these two resumed their space-travelling program, each time going further and further when their creation grew older. In said time, Starscream's trine committed the crime of baby sitting :)

plus their Academy friends sometimes, because the Trine also needed to work and stuff.

So yep. That's for the start, I guess. You're free to ask me anything, if you want to. I'll talk more about her anyway, she has quite a story.

Oh hi!! First of all, thanks for the question, I REALLY like when people want to hear my opinions and discuss stuff with me teehee

Second, to the point – I really love Skystars, I really do, but I like to view their relationship as a very complicated one. As much as I love them being all cuddly and loving each other, I do appreciate the theme of falling out that can be perfectly portrayed in them. You know, the theme of one person changing, while the other still clings to the ghost of the past, to someone who they fell in love with, refusing to acknowledge the fact of the change. It’s like, a personal thingy I can reflect on (the main reason they are my comfort ship as well lol)

Third – do I believe in happy ending? Well, that’s transformers we are talking about lol this fandom is allergic to happiness both canon and fanon. BUT. If taken that everything went right, everyone (or most of them, you know, the most important ones) survived the war and stuff… I really do like thinking that Skystars still linger to each other. Even during the war, even during mutual hatred, there are some memories to be hold on to. There will not be an easy happy ending. It will be very messy, probably, and what’s more important – no expectations to see your past lover. I see it as a whole new start, very rough, maybe it will need a few failed attempts to get them somewhere.  I would love to see them falling for each other all over again. To respecting each other choices, however bad they were.

Like a redemption ark but for the whole relationship and not just one person? Something like this, I guess.

Coming back well rested with ability to draw again. Started with something easy, to remember how to hold pen at all. I wanted to make a fankid for a while now SO HERE WE ARE, SAY HI TO MY GIRL AURORA
