Frisk in the Gorillaz style! Or at least kinda! I tried! :)
Bonus Russel sketch from memory
I just realized that a lot Gorillaz accounts Iβve seen lately are making appreciation weeks about all of the other characters except for Russel. And since his birthday is tomorrow.β€οΈπππππ§‘πππβ£οΈπππππππβ£οΈπππβ€οΈβ€οΈπππ LETβS GIVE THIS BOY SOME MUCH APPRECIATED LOVE GOD DAMN IT. β€οΈππππππ§‘β€οΈπππππβ£οΈππ
Looking at Russel Hobbs with the biggest softest eyes. My favorite animated and occasionally possessed drummer. They could never make me hate you.
Gorillaz art and Craig McCrackens's redraws of it
(In no particular order)
When this album came out, I was 15 and I LOVED it.
I listened to them when I was younger and was estatic to know they were still KILLING IT with their music.
This was the first video I saw for this album.
My top 3 songs are:
"Inside Boy"
"7-11"
"Hear me Now"
I saw them once at Warped Tour in 2018. They put on a good show! They didn't do enough from this album though!
And, just a year before, I found Marianas Trench for the first time.
THANK GOD I DID!
This was the first video I ever saw of their's, and it pulled me in.
My top 3 songs are:
"Burning Up"
"Dearly Departed"
"This Means War"
I have yet to see them. One day.
Ever After
This album is a close second.
I couldn't choose just one!
I was 16 or 17 when I first watched a Gorillaz music video. Yea, I was late.
After I found them, my whole world changed.
I started taking a lot more pride in my art. The Gorillaz Amino was where I felt the best. The featured page might have seen my sketches up there once or twice<3.
Then I started cosplaying. 2D was my first cosplay EVER.
I went to a theater makeup course at CSN, L makeup (briefly), took some makeup effects classes, and was able to do makeup effects for a horror movie. I got to do makeup for Full Moon Features at some point too.
I even met some of my closest friends.
All thanks to Gorillaz.
I don't do makeup now. No, now I am finally doing what I always thought I was not good enough to do. Music.
They are still an inspiration for me. There'll be a tribute tattoo on me soon, for sure.
My top 3 songs on PLASTIC BEACH are:
"Superfast Jellyfish"
"To Binge"
"On Melancholy Hill"
Humanz was the album that dropped when I came on the scene.
I was blown away. The 360 videos, app, and website had me BUSY. I just really enjoyed the concept, the lyrics, everthing really.
My top 3 songs on HUMANZ are:
"Let Me Out"
"She's My Collar"
"Ascension"
They came to Life is Beautiful but I couldn't afford it. I know it's gonna be a blast when I do eventually get to see them.
A whole album about his experiences leaving the Mormon faith and being a gay man.
It is BRILLIANT.
Every song is fantastic!
He is also the singer of Neon Trees!
My top 3 songs are:
"Shameless"
"Waiting Around"
"Devil"
I was able to see him at my first First Friday event here in Vegas. Not only that, I met him! It was an honor.
Okay, I am going to split this up into 3 categories.
(Clearly we know who the favorite is)
Coincidentally, it was the last album he ever did.
He passed away 4 weeks after it was released.
It is really hard for me to pick a single album. Mostly because they are all so good. I think this one Is a staple because it was the last one he was physically a part of. (The rest of them are compilations, live shows, and studio takes)
My top 3 songs are:
"Way Down"
"Unchained Melody"
"Little Darlin"
My all time favorite Elvis era.
I love all of them, but this one takes the cake.
There is no way I can do a top 3. I'm giving you a top 10.
"Snowbird"
"My Boy"
"If You Talk In Your Sleep"
"Hurt"
"Patch It Up"
"Tiger Man(Jam)"
"A Big Hunk O' Love"
"Polk Salad Annie - Live"
"Just a Little Bit"
"Funny How Time Slips Away"
I listen to this one A LOT.
My top 3 songs are:
"Hard Knocks"
"Poison Ivy League"
"One Track Heart"
Elvis was quite literally the one to get me off my butt to make my music.
Before I got covid, I had a whole different singing voice. After, I couldn't even sing like I used to. I had convinced myself that I was never going to sing again because I thought I sounded bad.
Then, Elvis found me and I couldn't stop singing his songs. Only then did I realize that I hadn't lost my voice, I just had to work with it.
Since then, I have been going trough that journey, putting out music, and working on getting out of my head.
I also met some people who literally made me realize that I needed to put more energy into myself. So really, it has been a wild ride, but one I am not going to get off of any time soon, no matter what happens.

Some may argue that Russel doesnβt get enough love from fans, but his bandmates sure appreciate him.Β

anyways I thought it was fitting
