Radical Feminists Do Interact - Blog Posts

“it’s another culture, be respectful” idgaf 💀 if it’s oppressive to women, it’s a problem, i don’t care if it’s ur customs. girls having to cover themselves, not being allowed to go to school, being violated, not being allowed to be heard, literally being all around disrespected but you expect me to just be cool about it because “it’s culture”.

women do not deserve to be treated as lesser than in the name of anything. idc if it’s your religion, i don’t care if it’s tradition, it’s a bunch of bullshit.

edit: if ur only contribution is reblogging this post to tell ppl i’m a radfem, don’t bother. this is a post about women being abused. if your main takeaway is that the person ur reblogging from might have different views than you, you have some serious growing the fuck up to do.

White people are always selfish. Some racist prick talked some stupid analogy about how white americans used to team up together when indians came for their women. We humans are supposed to feel empathy. We’re supposed to understand pain of everyone involved, of another even if foreigner or a stranger. That’s not a trait white people have, indeed, only when their posessions are in danger they will be quickly to team up to protect them, - with no preparation of any kind. Therefore, anyone who has done preparation with teamwork before white men will always gain advantage. Migrations are “nuisance” yes they are “nuiscance”, you will have selfish view of the world.

Woman Is Uncomfortable Being In The Bathroom With A Trans Woman So Politely Waits Outside.

Woman is uncomfortable being in the bathroom with a trans woman so politely waits outside.

when the woman goes to the toilet she ins mistaken for a man (the person who says it to her isn’t being aggressive).

thankfully the trans woman jumps into save the day, and actually “she” is never mistaken for a man it’s only the woman who has short hair and where’s shorts instead of a skirt is mistaken for a man.

Even if this scenario happened, you have two women who are clearly uncomfortable being in a public toilet with someone they perceive as a man . This doesn’t change because one woman is briefly mistaken for a dude.

All I hear is "I see other women as props and I believe being a lesbian means assimilating my behaviour to that of a straight man while upholding patriarchal sexual standards so men still find me palatable"

How do you cope with misogyny? I find myself getting depressed when I realize how much everyone hates women and that the world would never change.

meh I'm just really angry all the time.

Serious answer: I try to uplift/help/support the women in my life and I engage in activism and politics, I think it's normal to grieve what we could've had if we didn't live in a patriarchal system but our actions can and will be meaningful for so many women and that's something, it's a lot actually.

Less serious answer: I think of mysoginistic men when I hit the boxing bag hehe

It's funny bc I'm white but I've never turned to the KKK bc black people don't center me in their activism

one time my university invited a motivational speaker and he started by talking about historical figures he found inspirational (like in business/economics) and then asked "what do they have in common?" and a girl in the crowd shouted "they're all men!"

Not sure who she was but I'll never forget her

remember when as kids my male cousins would make fun of me for growing body hair before them and would get offended when I told them they were just jealous

This mentality is really telling of the fact that you haven't done any politics or activism in real life.

I've been sitting with party representatives, union representatives and fellow members of movements I belong(ed) to for almost 10 years at this point.

Not a single one of these spaces didn't cater to males.

Engage in some politics outside of tumblr and/or niche organisations, I grant you your opinion will flip in 10 seconds max.

Alright this is gonna be tough for alot of ya'll to hear but leftist and progressive spaces need to be more welcoming to men especially cis het white men. The more we speak bad about men the more men will go down the alt right pipeline. And obviously that's a bad thing. If we want men to be on our side we should create a space where they can also feel included because if we don't more men will go down the alt right and alpha male pipeline

OR people who don't think their voices deserve to be heard, or that feel like the political system is inaccessible to them.

I can't count how many times I've heard this from underprivileged women and girls.

People who ‘don’t do politics’ are so privileged. I said what I said.

Why is "patriarchy affects men too" always about men feeling ashamed of crying and never about gay (or "effeminate") teenage boys being subject to violence and corrective therapy by their families?

I'm all in favour of discussing how conforming to gender roles is a core belief of patriarchal ideology and gender non-conforming people (men too) are subjected to patriarchal violence.

But strangely "feminism is for everybody" is always about watering down feminist issues.

cultural relativism fans when they find out that all men-made power structures have oppressing women as a core principle: 😱😱

me: yeah I think all religions are bad and oppressive of women and we should hold them accountable for that.

libfem: …..even islam???

me: well yeah all religions.

libfem: that’s soooo racist and you’re clearly a white supremacist!!! you can’t speak out against misogyny if it’s from a different culture!! 🥺🥺

"all girls are bad at math" <- actual real women are discouraged to pursue stem careers and if they do, they feel an enormous amount of pressure

"all women are bad at driving" <- actual real women are discouraged to get a driving license, which limits their freedom because they depend on husbands/fathers

"all men are trash" <- that one guy who's probably trash doesn't feel venerated in the niche leftist online space which he mistakes for real life

fixed it for you.

What's the context behind your profile picture? :)

So glad you asked!!

It's by italian photoreporter Tino Petrelli, it was taken around the 25th of April 1945 in Milan, after antifascist rebel groups liberated Italy.

After the liberation, these groups surrendered their weapons to the Allies as part of an agreement, which is what the women in the picture are doing (although the specific picture may be staged).

One of them is Anna Maria Leone, 17 at the time, who was part of the "Women's defense group", after the war she worked as an actress and writer and was active in the feminist movement. It's not clear who the other two women are.

I completely agree with the post and I see the place the reblog is coming from but I just want to address some things, don't read my response as rude as it is not my intention:

you CAN and WILL find safe and satisfying relationships; if you're a straight woman these are going to be friendships with other women because, I agree, the probability of finding happiness and respect in a relationship with a man is near zero (and we may as well take it to be zero because this is real life we're talking about)

we live in a patriarchal society, and men are actively taught and encourage to torment women in various ways, that's true: build walls around yourself, become physically and mentally strong, find a community in which to find comfort and protection

you have the power to be independent, you have the power to resist the constraints in which society tries to force you; find that independence and use it to help other women

statistically, every man is going to mistreat you, older men often have the financial means to make it harder for you to get out - an high-school boyfriend can get violent, an older man can do that + make it impossible for you to leave if you depend on him, it's not worth it

being alone is better sometimes; other people will damage you, sure, but again, you're going to find a community and often the damage a boyfriend/husband/occasional partner can do to you doesn't compare to that done by other people (excluding family members)

not everyone is a predator, most men are (probably all the ones you cross your path with) but most women aren't; you're going to find women who are nice to you because you're smart and interesting and fun

It’s extremely disturbing to see so many young girls obsessed with older men and actively seeking them out. Despite what you may have been told this is not normal or quirky and is a sign that you probably need therapy. That grown man that’s giving you attention isn’t lana del rey vinyl, he’s a predator. You’re a victim of patriarchal oppression that targets young girls.

Someone should study how female stem students are treated by professors (of both sexes) at exams in relation to how much they perform femininity because I have some theories

Did your parents forbid you from watching certain cartoons?

it's always "makeup is about self-expression," yeah why does your self-expression always include glassy skin and contour that makes your face look skinnier?

no girl, your full face of makeup with a vaguely unusual eyeshadow colour is not "men repellant", stop kidding yourself

Bring back women learning self-defense as an anti-fascism movement

Just saw the most frustrating post about "bringing back red lipstick as an anti-fascism movement" - the male CEOs of every major cosmetics company would LOVE that. You wouldn't be sticking it to any fascists by conforming to sexist beauty standards. Save your money, save your time, and fight fascism by, you know, standing up to fascist leaders and policies. Don't buy lipstick.

crazy how when I was a kid my classmates would ask if my mom was a boy because she had a buzzcut and now young leftists ask her for pronouns constantly 💀💀 (and she's not even androgynous, just a woman with short hair and no makeup)

also crazy how she's been telling people "women can have short hair, you know" for the past 40 years and people without fail look at her as if she was absolutely deranged

imagine going from being called "mean man hating lesbian" in your 20s to "mean transphobic old woman" in your 60s

The concept of gender affirming haircuts is crazy

real!!

my mom works in academia while my dad was (he's retired now) a freelancer, so when they had me, he started working way less to take care of me/the house and when I'd tell my classmates (and teachers!) they always reacted like it was the most insane thing

one time in middle school a girl straight up told me that women should be just be housewives "because it's natural"

I think of her sometimes, I hope she realised that she wasn't born with a broom in her hand, just like her brother wasn't
