Plural culture is not realising you're reading a book out loud until 10 pages in and when you try to stop getting yelled at because you were putting your headmates to sleep
Alright which one of you guys were gonna tell us how awkward being frontstuck with others is??? It's literally like

gonna get a bit syscourse-y here, but... recently noticed kind of a weird hypocrisy in anti-endo arguments and wanted to point it out to see if others agree
for extra context, i have DID and im pro-endo id say?? my mindset is basically just "i dont get it personally, but live ur life dude(s), its not my business and im not gonna tell u what u are / arent" because like. i find it super hard to believe that DID and OSDD-1 are the ONLY possible causes for systems LOL... also i will be using the terms endo / endogenic as umbrella terms for all plurality outside of DID / OSDD-1 throughout this post
ANYWAYS THOUGHH... most harshly anti-endo spaces (or at least those that are pro-recovery) really emphasise that DID and OSDD-1 are more than just "alter disorders", which i absolutely agree with! DID and OSDD-1 are both complex dissociative disorders that include identity alteration (alters) as a SYMPTOM, but the disorders both fundamentally involve dissociation and impairment in daily life to some extent
BUT... then they are also so quick to say that endos MUST have DID / OSDD-1 if they have alters... but what about all the other symptoms? most endos i have met do not experience dissociation or other DID / OSDD-1 symptoms. claiming someone MUST have DID / OSDD-1 because they have alters would kind of be reducing the disorders down to just "alter disorders", right?
plus, it seems to be entirely ignoring the fact that you can have a symptom of a disorder without having the disorder / being disordered... lets use ADHD as an example here since its the first thing to come to mind LOL, someone can have a short attention span or be distracted easily without inherently having ADHD. it would depend on the presence of other symptoms as well as degree of life impairment. this logic also applies to any other disorder ever... so why dont we apply the same logic to DID / OSDD-1?
most endos i see dont claim DID / OSDD-1, and the ones that do are generally mixed origins. if we apply the logic that symptom ā disorder and that DID / OSDD-1 are more than just "alter disorders", why would someone not be able to have alters without a dissociative disorder?
IDK i hope this makes sense. feel free to reblog with any comments or anything i want to see others opinionz

Brain fog blur: ⦠maybe?
Sory for just randomly venting I just have to get this off my chest.
I look for DID and traumagenic content for the relatability, and I just see rampent anti endo/willogenic/mixed origin systems etc.
I just hate how rampent this is. Maybe I've just been in an echo chamber for a while, but the plurality tags are so much more accepting and just better imo.
Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
Right? Like wtf lmao.
being a system is so funny like. oh something really shitty happened. well time to not know who i am for like a week lol!!!!!!
Exactly, all systems are different in their own, beautiful ways.
Just like knowing an autistic person means you know one autistic person, knowing a system means you know one system. Systemhood/plurality is an incredibly diverse experience and it's impossible to get the full scope of the lives of every system out there by talking to one system, or even just a handful.
What feels restricting to one system may fit another perfectly. What feels comfortable to one system may make another feel dehumanized. Something that's a common experience in one system may be downright impossible in another. And on and on with many personal preferences and experiences.
This is fine, and normal. We're all unique, whether that's unique as individuals or unique as collectives. Just remember that the way one system works has no bearing on how another works; do not presume you know everything about systems just due to your own experiences or those you've talked to. It all depends on the system/plural/person in question.
Okay aggressive title aside I wanna talk about romantic headmate relationships
I want expressing them to be more normalized!!! I think it's generally well known at this point that headmates can have relationships with each other. But I never see it talked about much beyond that it's a thing that happens.
I wanna hear about how people experience their relationships. I wanna hear what folks do together and how they express their love.
But something we especially wanna hear is how systems do physical affection.
"Physical affection?! But you only have one body!" THAT DOES NOT STOP US IN FACT IT MAKES IT EXTREMELY INTIMATE
We hold our own hands. We kiss our own body. We wrap our arms around ourself. And we want this to be normalized. Okay sure maybe it looks a little odd at first, but this is normal to us. And we want others to see it as normal and okay too.
(I swear to fucking god if "showing headmate affection on camera" becomes the new thing used to fakeclaim like how switching on camera is I will YELL)
I wanna be able to show our affection in front of someone else and make them uncomfortable NOT BECAUSE IT'S OUR OWN BODY but because they're being a third wheel just like to singlet couples.
As awareness of plurality continues to spread online, that also means more and more people will realize they are plural. And unfortunately, there will be a response from certain gatekeepy exclusionist types, who will push back against these newfound systems and insist on invalidating them. Theyāll insist theyāre just hopping on a trend, or just fooling themselves, or whatever other justification they can make up to maintain the idea that being plural is extremely rare and being plural means suffering for it.
Donāt fall for it. Being plural presents challenges and difficulties without question, but being plural also can bring joys and clarity that werenāt possible otherwise. Being plural can be hard, and it can be beautiful.
No two systems present and function exactly the same ways. No two systems are plural for the exact same reasons. So we canāt expect there to be an absolute common trait present in every system. So any attempt to weed out the āfakersā is pointless and malicious.
If someone believes themself to be plural, they have good reason to. No further āproofā needed. If someone comes to us believing themself to be plural, we will help them along without critique or question. And above all we will be happy for them. Even if someday they realize they arenāt plural, that process of being allowed to question and experiment is so important, and they should be allowed to do so regardless of where they end up.
Plurality is a spectrum that encompasses a vast swathe of experiences and outlooks. It can be difficult to reckon with, which is why community is so vital. And as that community online grows and becomes more and more visible, we should all do our part, systems and singlets, to make sure these newfound systems feel safe, seen, and welcome.
I remember in middle school, I asked my teacher if I can get Nimona, and she said yeah and pointed to the closet. And then the kids started laughing like "did she just ask if you can get pneumonia? Of course you can hehehe", so I had to look at my teacher dead in the face and ask " can I get the book Nimona " and then she just looked at me like 'child I just said yes-'. Anyways, the moral of the story is I hate kids in school.
Wth is a trans system??? I am not thinking that it's a system who are all trans, cause it's something dealing with radendo wth is a radendo WHERE ARE THESE TERMS COMING FROM I'M CRYING. I have seen TransDID before which.... It like, doesn't make too much sense to me cause like- what how does... Are people trying to say they are a created system? Accepted their plurality? Why is trans in front of it. I'm so confused what, it just doesn't make, sense?
Crying in having multiple sources I MISSSSS MY LOVERRRS COMBUSTS
They're all so FUCKING STUPID/POS
Even as someone who is pro-endogenic, I think it is important to say that the research done on DID, OSDD, and other trauma-based dissociative conditions is still valuable and important, even if youāre not a traumagenic system.
Iām not saying you need to be an expert or spend several hours reading so many books and peer-reviewed papers that you might as well have a PhD. Iām saying that having a basic grasp of concepts like C-PTSD, structural dissociation, and the core clinical models of trauma-based plurality will help you become a better ally to traumagenic systems, mixed-origin systems (like me), and traumatized endogenic systems.
Iāve noticed that some endogenic spaces have a tendency to either dismiss research on traumagenic systems as irrelevant or criticize it for not including endogenic experiences. But hereās the thing⦠that doesnāt mean the existing research is wrong. Itās just focused on a different population of people whose system formed because of trauma.
Research doesnāt extensively talk about endogenic or mixed-origin systems because those arenāt typically studied in a clinical (i.e., pathological) context. That doesnāt make our experiences less valid. It just means we exist outside the current research. And thatās okay. But it is still good to understand where traumagenic systems are coming from because not all of us are without trauma, and we need you as an ally. Especially if we want mutual respect and solidarity within plural spaces.
I think about this a lot because if endogenic spaces were a lot more like this a few years ago, I wouldāve gotten support and found community a lot sooner. It has gotten a lot better since the last time Iāve been in plural spaces, but there is still more room to grow.
Can we stop saying people with covert DID/OSDD or other covert forms of plurality are privileged? Maybe Iām missing something, but I donāt understand how suffering in a way that goes unnoticed is more privileged than suffering in a way thatās noticed.
Both have their ups and downs person-to-person. So what makes one more privileged than the other?
Hereās my metaphor for systemhood that I tell my singlet friends.
Imagine youāre playing a first person video game. You have the controller, you control your character. Itās a normal first person game. You are an alter, the character is the body. This is fronting.
Other people live with you. Sometimes, they come into the room and sit and watch while you play. They sometimes try to guide you, give you advice on what to do next. They donāt always agree, and they can argue with each other. Other times they scream at you that youāre doing everything wrong and you suck at this game. This is co-consciousness.
Imagine how distracting it would be for people around you to tell you what to do, or to scream at each other or at you, even if they have good intentions. It wouldnāt be easy to focus on your game, would it?
Then sometimes, something happens in the game that prompts you to hand off the controller to someone else so they can play and you get a break. This is (some types of) switching. This can be good.
Other times, someone rips the controller out of your hand or fights you for it. This is (other types of) switching. And sometimes, six other players hook up their controllers, but thereās only one character to play as. So all of you have your controllers, but youāre all trying to play the same character. This is cofronting.
Imagine how difficult that would be. Imagine how hard it would be to try and play a game while someone is trying to take the controller from you, or while six other people are trying to play too.
There are also times that nobody is playing, or you canāt decide who should play. Whatās happening to the character in the game? What are they doing if no one is playing? This is dissociation. The character is doing nothing. Theyāre stuck.
This is the best metaphor I have come up with for being a system. Itās something a lot of people get because theyāve played games before.
this popped into my head out of nowhere so i had to create it as an image ā¦ā¦ mitosis

We always get reduced to our source except with our partner... Even our friends do it and it's really upsetting...
Sy doesn't like talking because he's reduced to his source but he's nothing line his source... Steve too... Billy was scared Dustin (our friend's) would hate him because their fictive are *very* sourcependent...

Fictives and fictionkind deserve to be treated like normal people.
Fictives and fictionkind deserve understanding.
Fictives and fictionkind deserve to not just be reduced to their source if they don't want to.
Fictives and fictionkind deserve to have their feelings taken seriously.
coming onto tumblr and almost immediately across the endo/trauma syscourse is very fascinating bc like it's such a typical internet discourse? like a bunch of people making up words that don't mean anything just so they can get mad at people and play trauma olympics is so absurd you probably counld come up with it lol anyway don't let anyone tell you your experiences are not valid etc fuck sysmeds
Giving this to a couple of the Entities when they have time, Iāll leave it in the drafts until at least Ruger has had a chance to answer, and hopefully Shekel, cause those two would like it I think. Iād also love to see Damian respond to get to know him a bit better, but I know technology is not his thing. Not sure if Pitt or Rocky or Grey will be interested but they would be neat as well <3
Ruger:
1. Despite already being an alter, Iām a therian! I have my own human body in the inner world who is a therian. This confuses our host. I find that funny.
2. Iām a Rottweiler!
3. Sometimes I feel more dog like than others, but itās usually a gradual change.
4. I stress everybody out because I eat a lot when fronting and usually we have trouble with food (but I am always so so hungry and I will always be so so hungry)
5. They seem neat! I donāt front enough to make friends but theyāre cool
6. I have a collar with a tag that says beast on one side and whore on the other, and I love it.
7. Nah. We vibing. This is also something that confuses the host.
8. Find what brings you joy.
9. See collar mentioned above
10. I exist as a creature of passion and greed to balance out the systemās prevalent fear of appearing too needy or demanding or excessive.
Shekel:
1. I donāt have any particular association with the body so I donāt use specific terminology. In the inner world Iām an abandoned mutant/laboratory experiment.
2. Types of animals? Iām partially a person and partially a wolf, although some of my features are a bit more horse or dragon like.
3. I donāt shift, although Jay (our host) says I have a very vivid feeling when I switch in and can fuck with his perception of the body if that makes sense?
4. I donāt do much life outside of the inner world so it doesnāt effect me much, but I prefer wearing fur and eating fish when Iām fronting, stuff like that.
5. I donāt engage with strangers, Iām one of the boundary focused alters - others like Rocky love making friends and getting close to people, but some of the others and I have to mitigate that by being inherently suspicious and fast to push people away. In other words, the community looks very nice but I donāt trust anyone enough to engage much.
6. Unironically, werewolf smut is nice and feral and affirming. I also like that the body is used to walking on its toes, the way my legs are built doesnāt translate well to a human shape and being up on the toes is one of the only things that feels right.
7. Always. The body is a foot and a half shorter than Iām supposed to be, itās the wrong shape, I donāt have fur or claws or ears. The only things that are right is the set of my shoulders and the fact that Iām bipedal.
8. Be fierce, but be kind. Love hard, but donāt force yourself to be tame.
9. My fur vest helps, and we technically have a tail, but I donāt get too dysphoric about the lack of a tail so I donāt usually use it. I want claws.
10. We suspect Iām a knockoff and divergent version of Wolf from The Lunar Chronicles, and while even in the internal world Iām not built to be good at fighting, Iām pretty sure I exist because we felt powerless and needed someone feral enough to protect us.
Pitt:
1. I consider myself nonhuman.
2. I am an angel.
3. I do not shift or change.
4. In the inner world I am blind, so seeing is a challenge when fronting.
5. N/A
6. Having our glasses off helps.
7. Not particularly. I miss my wings when fronting sometimes.
8. I have no advice.
9. No, it wouldnāt be enough.
10. In a way, I have the most religious trauma since I was a part of it, a part of god, and now I am cast aside. I formed so that Jay doesnāt have to feel guilty over what he has been through. He is not alone. I will keep him company.
Grey:
- I donāt know what categories there are. Iām justā¦. Here, and not remotely human.
- Iām a forest cryptid and my physical form is somewhat close to a wolf with something Wrong with it.
- my form⦠wavers sometimes, but I donāt know if Iād describe it as a shift.
- I donāt front much, but when I do Iām the second most likely to be nonverbal and the most likely to snarl/snap my teeth/bite anyone who crosses my boundaries (that unfortunately are much stricter than the boundaries of most of the others)
- I know nothing about the community.
- Iām very nocturnal, so I tend to stay up and Lurk in the dark.
- I donāt feel dysphoria. My true corporeal form is unable to fully contain me so it makes sense that this human body canāt either.
- to new alterhumans: if growling is the best way you can express your boundaries in the moment, it is a valid method and itās not your fault if people donāt understand.
- I donāt need gear.
- long ago there was a boy that was hungry. His teeth grew long and his heart grew inky and his hands grew claws. The forest shoved into his soul, ripping it open and pressing inside. The boy has been hungry so long he cannot feel it - but if you try to take his food from him the wolf he became will shred the flesh off your bones.
Damian:
I donāt know shit about dick so who knows
Iām a demon
I donāt shift
I donāt live everyday life
I didnāt know there was a community
I think hitting someone with my car would feel good but I am not supposed to try that
I have a vivid sense of self but I donāt feel uncomfortable inhabiting this body, my true form overlays it in a way so itās kind of like a possession and feels perfectly fine
Iām pretty sure any advice I have to give is not something Jay would let me say
It would be fun to have synthetic teeth, but I donāt think anyone could make teeth that actually match my true form
I came from hell to fuck around :)
(So much barking) Rocky!!!
1. Ohhh!!!! There are categories?? Thatās awesome!! :D I dunno
2. Iām an Australian shepherd mix!! Not really a therian or anything, Iām just A Doggo :]
3. I donāt shift I just am ^-^
4. Uhhhh idk!!!
5. I LOVE COMMUNITIES BC I LOVE PEOPLE PEOPLE ARE THE BEST
6. Wiggling around and barking and stuff!!
7. ⦠:D ⦠I have never felt a bad feeling in my life!!
8. Hiiiiii I love youuuu
9. I have a collar and a tag with my name on it!!!!!!
10. Uhhhhh I exist to wiggle and bark and love people!!! ^-^

I would recommend just taking your time. You have a lifetime to figure things out, and from my experience the faster you try to learn about your system/get to know your headmates the more likely you are to have a denial phase. I used to cycle really badly between denial and trying to accept my system, and I only started making progress when I got to a point where I accepted that my little brain guys are around, but I donāt need to figure everything out immediately. Slowly easing into getting to know everyone and listen to them has worked really well for me, but if you find a better way by all means take it :)
guys i set up a simply plural what do i do now
also update: i havent gotten anyone to front yet other than that night
also i can hear my headmates (i think) but it feels like im just imagining them saying things instead of them actually saying things
The absolute irony of the alter in charge of sleeping being nocturnalā¦
I wanted a bio, so I'm making a bio.
Name: Travis Role: Council member, (mostly) ex-persecutor Pronouns: he/him
I'm the resident black magic enthusiast, and I've got a "mad scientist vibe going on." My job as a persecutor was to keep us from relying on anyone by manipulating the host away from people. These days I mostly keep an eye on the other "darker" system members.
I like silk shirts, dramatic aesthetics, spooky music, and gold jewelry.
wOAH WEVE HAD A TUMBLR FOR SIX MONTHS??? Yea this is definitely the longest weāve gone without me repressing things whoops
Trying to figure out if a couple guys I know of are headmates or if theyāre just OCs. Like yeah, they come with their own Vibes, but is that really enough to go off of? I think one fronted earlier but only for like ten seconds so who knows really?? And the other is just a Feeling Iāve had off and on since I was a kid and I put the feeling into an OC and recently I found a journal entry where I(?) was calling myself by his name⦠but I donāt know⦠halpā¦.
