Steve and Robin were stood at the counter of Family Video, Steve putting out tapes, Robin drinking coffee out of a chipped, stained mug. The bell rang as the door slammed open and in walked an absolute mess of a group. A boy with a cap on top of his curly hair. missing his 2 front teeth, a pale girl with red hair and a green jacket on, and a black boy holding what seemed like hundreds of tapes. Dustin, Max and Lucas. A few of Steve and Robin's friends, who also happen to be Steve's ex-girlfriend's, little brother's friends (it's confusing, Steve knows).
"We're here to drop these tapes off for Eddie!" Starts Dustin, the other 2 stood behind him giggling slightly. "He asked us to bring them all back for him." Then Lucas shoves the tapes onto the counter and the 3 of them book it out of there.
Steve stands there for a second, feeling bewildered, before looking over to Robin and seeing that she obviously feels the same way.
"The hell was that?" Asks Robin incredulously, her eyes wide. Steve shrugs.
"I have no idea! And who's Eddie?" This Robin knows.
"Oh, he's the dungeon thingamabob for the game they play. He kinda tells the story and sits and the front and all that. It's pretty important I think." Steve understands now. One of their nerd friends. Still, Steve and Robin are pretty confused.
It's not until the next day when the door slams open again that they finally get an explanation. A man who looks around 20, with curly, scruffy black hair and lots of silver jewellery rushes in. Steve feels a slight blush creep up his cheeks as he realises how attractive he is. He's panting and out of breath when he says, "did Dustin come in here yesterday?!" Robin nods her head.
"I'm assuming that you're Eddie?" She asks. "How did you know?" Eddie questions. "Dustin, Lucas and Max brought your tapes by yesterday, we haven't gotten round to putting them away yet but we will soon," Steve explains.
For some reason, Eddie seems to sigh of relief. "Thank god! Those shitheads!" He exclaims. "Can I have them back please?" Robin looks confused. " why would you need them back?"
"Yeah, the guys returned them for you?" Steve joins. "It was a prank, my uncle Wayne let them into the trailer yesterday whilst I was out and let them take all of the films and shit, I need them back, most of them aren't even from here." Steve looks at Robin in realisation. He walks to the back and grabs a bag full of tapes. Eddie's tapes. He hands them to him, their fingers brushing momentarily.
"Thank you both so much, I'll be sure to get those little troublemakers back!" He thanks the 2 gratefully and he walks backwards to the door. He gives a little wave and says "bye Robin, bye Steve!"
Then the bell rings and the man with curly, scruffy black hair is gone.
"How did he know our names?" Steve asks. Robin looks at him, eyes wide. "Our name tags Dingus!"
As the 2 of them break down laughing at little jokes and remarks for the rest of their shift, Steve can't help but shift his mind from the man earlier. Eddie. Eddie with his hair, and his rings, and his boots, and his-
Robin interrupts his train of thought. "Are you thinking about Eddie?" She asks slyly. Steve whips his head up to stare at her. "Of course not! Why would you think that!?".
Robin giggles. "Oh come on! I saw the blush on your face when he walked in. And that little hand touch when you gave him the bag. You like him!"
Steve picks up a stack of tapes and takes them over to the shelves, laughing. "You aren't denying it!" Shouts Robin. "I can tell you wanted to kiss that smirk right off of his face."
Steve can't help himself from shouting "ROBIN!" And she laughs even harder now. "You still haven't denied it. Come on, I know you like him. Admit it!"
Steve just shakes his head and continues stacking the movies on the horror shelf. "You know I'm only going to keep pestering you, right?" Robin asks (and of course Steve knows this, which might be why he says...)
"Fine! Maybe I do think he looks a little, tiny bit attractive." And Robin shrieks in laughter. "I KNEW IT!" She shouts and she skips around the counter to where Steve is. She grabs his hands and starts spinning in a circle, chanting "Stevie's got a crush, Stevie's got a crush" until they're both red in the face, Robin of laughter and Steve of embarrassment.
As the end of their shift rolls near, they pack away their things and leave, Steve handing the keys to Alexander who's about to take the next shift with Katherine. Steve and Robin walk to the car park together and get into Steve's car. He hugs her when they reach her house and waves goodbye to her mum before leaving for his own home. He still can't get rid of the thoughts of Eddie when he's trying to get to sleep later that night. He just hopes that he'll bump into him soon.
