Fantasy is not science, nor philosophy, and not real (of course). This may seem obvious, but what I am trying to do is creating an exact, non-contradictory definition of fantasy, not as an art genre, but as an object of study. Not by science, but by fantastic natural history.

Fantasy - Wikipedia

"Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction involving magical elements, typically set in a fictional universe and sometimes inspired by mythology and folklore."

Originally A Twitter Thread, With The Help Of Thread Reader

Fantasy, Magic (not meaning prestidigitation), Mythology, and Folklore can be understood as equivalent, overlaping concepts. Wikipedia's entry is mostly tautological, circular, thus.

However, this is an article about the artistic genre, and one could say that it refers to art expression (written, musical, cinematic, other) that uses these references. This is enough for this use case, but we do not advance in an objective conceptualization of fantasy.

Fantasy (psychology) - Wikipedia

"(...) fantasy is a broad range of mental experiences, mediated by the faculty of imagination in the human brain, and marked by an expression of certain desires through vivid mental imagery."

Originally A Twitter Thread, With The Help Of Thread Reader

This entry about the concept of fantasy in psychology gives a more elaborared view of it. However, what differentiates fantasy from other instances of human creativjty? The article continues: "Fantasies are associated with scenarios that are absolutely impossible."

Wikipedia's entry on Fantasy (psychology) does not give any reference to this concept, and proceeds listing the importance of Fantasy for various theoretical approaches (Freud, Klein, Lacan), or pathologies (narcissistic personality disorder, schizophrenia). It is not unified.

More revealing is Wikipedia's "History of Fantasy" (about the literary genre).

" (...) the supernatural and the fantastic were an element of literature from its beginning. The modern genre is distinguished from tales and folklore (...)"

Originally A Twitter Thread, With The Help Of Thread Reader

It makes a clear distintion between ancient myths and folklore, and so-called "modern fantasy", whose first explicit representant was Scottish author George MacDonald in the late XIX century, with his novels "The Princess and the Goblin" and "Phantastes".

Important precursors were Dickens, Thackeray, Andersen, Ruskin, Morris. And MacDonald's work enormously influenced Tolkien and Lewis. One key word in this historic description of Fantasy is "speculative". And a defining characteristic of modern fantasy is the "fantasy world".

Originally A Twitter Thread, With The Help Of Thread Reader

Distinctive differences of modern fantasy are the postulate of a secondary fantasy world apart from reality; fictitious by design; and narratives from a (group of) author(s) with an interpretative aim. Myths or folklore does not have any of these characteristics.

The entry goes on in a detailed description of the development of Fantasy as a literary genre, since writings about tales and legends from Middle Ages. However, one fun example of how medieval mind understood the fantastic can be seen in the novel "Baudolino" by Umberto Eco.

Most of this Wikipedia's entry is based upon https://twitter.com/john_clute and John Grant's https://sf-encyclopedia.com/fe/, published in 1997, and fully available on the internet.

More to come, be patient.

LEONISCAREFUL first time in a group exhibition during Amsterdam Pride in Zandvoort

LEONISCAREFUL First Time In A Group Exhibition During Amsterdam Pride In Zandvoort

This coming Monday August 1, 2022 there will be an official opening where several unique hand made visuals by Amsterdam and Amsterdam GOS area artist and think tank collective will debut with thought provoking images that present an alternative reality in Zandvoort, a beach resort near Amsterdam.

In the grand scheme of things, in the race and rage against and alongside the machine, the information that reaches us has become trivial and contrived. How do we deal with matters of place and time amd circumsstancial changes of human behaviour, their appearance and surroundings and the active reactiveness of it all. Five works by Leon Mussche, medium and initiator of LEONISCAREFUL will be shown alongside work by Soek Zwamborn and other artists.

The exhibition will be held during the course of this year's Amsterdam Pride gay pride and LGBTQ events, that will culminate in the annual boat canal parade on Saturday August 5 in the centre of Amsterdam.

Find LEONISCAREFUL art shop here

Rosarium is one of the art works by Dutch Holland art collective Leoniscareful Leon Mussche, it was acquired by Soek Zwamborn of Roze Kunstlijn and will be exhibited during Pride at the Beach in Zandvoort near Amsterdam. This wirk has a special and deeply personal meaning to me since it conveys an experience of transcendence and spirituality of beings beyond the concepts of life and death and in a warp of time and the temporary within the infinite concept of the time being.
2022 Amsterdam gay pride will be held in Amsterdam again and flags promoting the event can be seen along the canals. We, Leoniscareful Dutch art collective find it important for people of all origins and (post) nationalities to be open about their sexual presence and have the freedom to live the lifestyle of their choice. This may seem a matter that has been accomplished years or even decades ago, but globalisation has put gay rights on the map again, and even in Holland, there is racism , homophobia and exclusion that provides us with enough ammunition to have something to fight for, and against.

LIFE AFTER DEATH | beliefs of the ancient tagalogs . . .

LIFE AFTER DEATH | Beliefs Of The Ancient Tagalogs . . .

Back in the pre-colonial period, Tagalogs already believed in the final judgement of men— that is, the punishing of the evil and the rewarding of the good. The souls of good men were said to be taken to Maca, a village where they enjoyed eternal peace and happiness; a paradise.

However, those who deserved punishment were brought to Kasanaan, the village of grief and affliction where they were tortured forever. The souls that ended up in Kasanaan were kept by the leader of the ancient hell, Sitan.

It is said that all the wicked went to that place, and there dwelt the demons, Sitan and his four agents, who embodied evil and punishment.

Due to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, Roman Catholicism was forcefully introduced to the Tagalog. In Roman Catholicism, a good person is sent to Heaven while a bad person is sent to Hell to burn in scalding oil.

Philippine Gods & Goddesses.

Philippine gods & goddesses.

Introducing you Philippine mythology! I didn't include them all though! Maybe I'll continue it in future blogs?

Philippine Gods & Goddesses.
Philippine Gods & Goddesses.
Philippine Gods & Goddesses.

Bathala

— Bathala reigns supreme in the heavens, though his beginnings were not necessarily so set.

— The head honcho of the gods in the Tagalog myths.

— The god is known to have married a mortal woman, and from her sprang three of his powerful offspring: Apolaki (God of War and Guardian of the Sun), Mayari (Goddess of the Moon), and Tala (Goddess of the Stars).

Mayari and Apolaki

— Apolaki and Mayari both fought over the Earth’s dominion.

— The sun god wanted to be the sole ruler, but the goddess of the moon wanted an equal share.

— This resulted in a ferocious battle. Apolaki took one of his sister's eyes, but regretted it, and conceded.

— He then ruled the earth with Mayari, only they would rule at different times.

— In the day, it was Apolaki’s moment, and at night, Mayari shone in the sky (though her luminescence is dimmer, due to the loss of one eye).

Hanan

— According to some myths, Hanan is the daughter of Bathala. The goddess has Mayari and Tala as her sisters.

— Hanan is the goddess of morning, dawn, child birth, and new beginnings.

— It is said that she is the deity most important when people enter a new age or a new phase in their life.

Tala

— Daughter of Bathala.

— Ruler of the stars.

The Marias

— Maria Cacao, Maria Makiling, and Maria Sinukuan are mountain goddesses (or fairies) with their own separate jurisdictions.

— The most famous of the three, Maria Makiling, is the guardian of Mount Makiling, located in Laguna.

— Maria Cacao watches over Mount Lantoy in Cebu, and it is said that her domain houses the Cacao plants, a useful ingredient in most Filipino chocolate delicacies.

— Lastly, Maria Sinukuan holds dominion over Mount Arayat in Pampanga. There, she is said to bring forth bountiful harvests from the mountain’s fruit trees.

Dian Masalanta

— Diyan Masalanta is the tagalog goddess of love, conception, and childbirth, and the protector of lovers.

Poor Man, The Literal Theme Of This Episode Was "confuse TF Out Of Marc", "make Marc Cry", "make Marc

Poor man, the literal theme of this episode was "confuse TF out of Marc", "make Marc cry", "make Marc cry some more", "why TF is Marc not crying yet again?", "If you won't, then I'll make Marc cry" and "because Marc just has to cry".

His whole story and trauma of it broken down and presented. It was a crucial episode.

I like the idea that both the identities were acknowledged as seperate conscious in the afterlife, like even the goddess was entirely confused about the whole alter business because humans have literally managed to advance almost all shit's to next level of course.

The fact that both Marc and Steven dutifully ignored the last coffin (aka Jake the cabbie, really just a baby) and so the scales never truly balanced and only balanced after Steven died? Like Marc just saw Steven die and the goddess is like "ohh, the scales balanced?". I was heartbroken to see Steven gone. So will be Layla.

Poor Man, The Literal Theme Of This Episode Was "confuse TF Out Of Marc", "make Marc Cry", "make Marc

Marc with his hands on his waist and literally stating flatly, "Bitch, we mental. Why else?"

Poor Man, The Literal Theme Of This Episode Was "confuse TF Out Of Marc", "make Marc Cry", "make Marc

The happiness that man felt about being dead rather than crazy won my heart, of course Marc- priorities. But still, to a man who's been broken in terms of mental space almost his whole life- that must have been to precious of clarity. His brother's death for which he blamed himself, his mother's hate, her violent abuse- both mental and physical, his trauma serving in military (from where he got discharged due to him often escaping into his fugue state- his mental disorder, the chaos causing him to be a liability for military), then as a mercenary (because that's apparently the only job he could get with what skills he had), then almost dying- like he literally was going to shoot himself to end the pain. Then killing in the name of protecting and delivering justice. Trauma, trauma, trauma.

And the way Marc believed that he chose his life as khonshu's avatar because he couldn't live like anything else but a killer- because that is what he always was (probably thinking of his brother, oh god).

Steven finally understood though that khonshu had manipulated Marc from the beginning.

Also, I think Jake knows of both Marc and Steven because he could kill the bitches who'd bother them, possibly because he knew of Marc's skills, like Steven could do shit when he realised he was Marc in a way, atleast with the physical abilities.

Athena: what are you doing?

Ares: *quickly slams laptop* writing a book

Athena: really? I didn’t take you as the type, what’s it about?

Ares: war

Athena: eh, figures. Well, I support your Foret into book writing, keep at it.

Ares: *opens up laptop and continues writing* and then the dad tucked his child into bed lovingly and told him, “My son, I’m very proud of you and love you very much. You don’t have anything to prove to me.”

Little friendly reminder that Thalia became a hunter thinking that she had no family left just to realize 3 years later that her brother was alive and she will see him dead(probably faster that she expected aka tbm)

The reason why Percabeth works so beautifully is because they give each other exactly what they need. Annabeth Chase, who’s riddled with trust and abandonment issues because everyone who was supposed to love and protect her constantly betrayed her, fell for Percy. A boy with loyalty as a fatal flaw. Someone who will choose her over and over again. And Percy, who was constantly being cast out from place to place and was always the second choice, fell for Annabeth. A girl who just wants stability, something permanent. Someone who has him as her first priority

WAIT

JUST WAIT A DAM SECOND

SO:

1.

In TLT,Percy's mom is murdered (at first he thought she was dead)

In The City of Bones,Clary's mom is kidnapped

2.

In TLT, Percy gets to CHB , his mind about to explode when he learns that greek gods and monsters exist

In The City of Bones, Clary is taken to the Institute and learns that all the myths are real

The plot twists are so similar

These Are Kit Herondale And Ty Blackthorn

These are Kit Herondale and Ty Blackthorn

This reminds me of Jace and Alec

And Jason and Percy

Jace-Alec and Jason-Percy resemble:

In both cases: the hair color, their friendship(they're like brothers/parabatai),their look, how powerful they are, the difference of one year/two years and the skater vibe LOL)

I feel like they're all bound together lol

(Just thought I should share this :D)
