anakin skywalker sw prequels chosen one like the angst potential of the prophesy is insane bc you've lived your whole life as a slave and then the order of space wizards just decides that you're a semi-divine being destined to save the galaxy with your unimaginable powers that could feed into the most batshit mood swings from crippling insecurity and impostor syndrome to a full blown god complex and instead it just makes him a bit of a dick???? like literally when does the prophesy ever become relevant??? it's just kinda shoehorned in a couple of times so qui gon says the jedi have to take anakin on bc hes the chosen one - anakin mentions a couple of times that he should be allowed to do xyz thing because hes the chosen one - there's a second in rots where Expectations are placed on the Chosen One (even though the whole thing might be bullshit mistranslation) and then obiwan is even MORE disappointed in anakin's jedi genocide because he was meant to be the chosen one Like which of these couldn't be replaced by “well he's just kinda abnormally powerful” if Special Expectations are even needed? like is he not ENOUGH for murdering an entire culture does he have to have Betrayed the Prophesy too? can't he just be an entitled shit because he randomly ended up freakishly strong? don't the jedi have high moral expectations of all their members? don't they have a duty to teach all force sensitive children? why does anakin have to be Special? idk it just feels forced
