Hello,
My name is CJ and I’m a trans man. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina and I still live there today. My dad is a Chilean immigrant and he came to this country when he was only 8, spending most of his life in the beautiful land of Puerto Rico. My mom grew up in Florida (where I was born) and has mainly Irish ancestry. I have two older brothers, both in college. One attends Juilliard, the other UNCC. Most of my friends are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I also have friends who are children of immigrants, just like me.
When I was born, it was induced by medication and I was born 8 weeks early due to a disease my mom had contracted while pregnant with me. We both survived thanks to the doctors and nurses who helped my mom deliver me safely. Due to my premature birth, I have struggled my whole life with chronic illness and disability.
I am telling you all of this because I am scared. Tomorrow is November 5th, Election Day, and depending on who wins I may be in serious danger.
Please, for the sake of me, my friends, my family, the trans community, the chronically ill, the disabled community, immigrants, immigrant families, women who need access to healthcare, and EVERY. SINGLE. American citizen…

via NYPost: Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing to launch a “big f–king operation” across sanctuary cities — including Chicago and New York — immediately after President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, multiple sources told The Post.
Starting Jan. 21, multi-day “ground operations” will be launched across cities that have served as safe havens for migrants because the local authorities do not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to immigration issues, sources said.

On tiktok watching storytimes of this black woman and her heartbreaking stiry of having to fight against the economy and abuse to get better in life. See a video about her and talking to joe biden and was like "dude no way, she has to be for" nope. She's talking about how immigrants get free handouts just for being here while she busted her ass off and like.. i know its hard but holy shit dude. Its like, you went through all that and went "Yeah, yeah, i want THEM to feel that pain." ??? Also she was saying how she worked hard to buy a food truck and now hes buying it with handouts despite not having anything and like... lady.. why do yoy think hes buying your food truck. To just have it? He's going to work. Also saying that he just gets free handouts is so fucked because he came to this country unfortunate enough to qualify for those "handouts" and is clearky trying to work hard and shes just bashing him and saying how she cant get loans despite her good credit because of the color of her skin and it just sucks so much because mexicans and black people have been through so much similar shit and have been fighting together for a long time and theyve somehow managed to convince us to fight against eachother instead of with. It sucks sm. Like i get you feel wronged but like imagine your ancestor is pissed at YOU because you get the opportunity to work for money while they were slaves having to work for nothing. Seeing black people harass mexicans telling them to get out of their country when this was their and the natives' land at first, saying its their fault POC get a bad rep. These are the words of Mariann Budde, who made a speech at Trump’s inauguration. Her words are strong and filled of emotions all the way through.
Indeed, US citizens and inhabitants are probably right to be scared by everything going on in their country if we look at the 26 executive orders Trump signed at his inauguration -based on radio Canada-.
The greatest example is, in my opinion, his executive order to remove the Citizenship and civil rights. We can already remember that that right is granted by the 14th amendment of the US constitution : “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Donald Trump is talking about removing something that is in the constitution since July 9th, 1868. The last time that right was questioned was in 1898, and the Supreme Court decided to go with the constitution.
The Citizenship and civil rights means that every child born in the US can and will have American nationality. At least it is the case if the president doesn’t go through. Yet, president Donald Trump would like that only children born by us citizen, or legal resident, or legal resident in the army could have the nationality.
According to Amnesty International, this executive order, with other about immigration, is leading to massive expulsions, the restauration of harsh border decisions, the end of some constitutional rights, and even more : targeted raids across the US. However, immigration represents nearly 2 million people between 2022 and 2023. According to Pew Research Center, around 4.4 million children born in the US are living with illegal immigrants parents in 2022. Among the adults born in the US, estimations are that 1.4 million of them have illegal immigrants parents.
An important question stays in mind : Is Donald Trump allowed to take such a decision ? Well, according to France Info, he could eventually remove the 14th amendment, but to do so, he would need to propose a new one, with 2/3 vote in the Senate, and ¾ States agreeing with that new one.
There are still so many other question if this is applied : would a child, already born in the US and that now has the nationality, but whose parents don’t qualify for Trump’s standards, be deported with his parents ? Well, TF1 is telling us it is very improbable, and that those cases would quickly be brought to the Supreme Court.
Thankfully, we know since Thursday, January 23rd 2025 that a judge in the federal court of Seattle blocked that executive order. He is supported by the Washington DA, Nick Brown, as we can see in the intervention relayed by TV5MONDE. He even says there that Trump’s decision was absurd, and that the constitution had been decided by the Supreme Court, and even reviewed by other president before the 45th and now 47th president.
Yet, as we can read in the article and the report about it from France 24, the president say that obviously, they will appeal the decision. It is a new battle about that executive order that starts now. 22 States were immediately against it the first time, like the state of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Hawaii, or even California. The battle will be complicated for the government, especially since federal judges are calling that order as “unconstitutional”.
The final decision is yet to be announced, but it seems very little probable that the US constitution will change, at least on this point. The 14th amendment will then probably stay, a very short reprieve for US residents as other executive orders are already in action, expulsing already hundreds of migrants at the South border.

So, I have some questions:
1. How many languages do you speak? (You can include ones you’re not fluent in, but please specify)
2. What are they?
Follow up: how many of your friends speak the same language(s)?
3. Where did you grow up (Country, state, province or whatever)?
Follow up: Describe your neighborhood to me, was it nice, bad, expensive, cheap, etc.
4. How financially well off were you as a child?
Follow up: If you feel comfortable sharing, what was the income your parent(s) made?
5. What ethnicity are you?
6. What job do you have now?
Follow up: And if you feel comfortable sharing, how much money do you make? (Also, please add if your pay is salaried or hourly)
Finally, what are some interesting facts about your language?
This is for a little project of my own that I’m doing. I know there are some issues in the school system (I’m an American, what do I expect) and I got curious. I want to see how many factors play in to the amount of languages someone speaks.
Most of the time, education is expensive—at least in the U.S it is (our public school system is shit). Yet, languages seem to be an outlier. The prissy rich white kids that can barely speak English, let alone a lick of Spanish, present an exception to the rule (education is expensive).
Also, a lot of my friends speak more than one language, but the American school system requires them to learn two while *in school*. Also, a lot of them speak languages that aren’t taught at my school— like Tagalog, Hindi, Gujarati, German, Russian, etc.— and I’m wondering if there’s a pattern to it.

So I’m working on an art project (music related) about culture crossing/mixing/immigration etc. so far I’ve been thinking about the Koreans in Russia (inspired by the carrot kimchi reel lol), Poles in Brazil (basically people whose ancestors left the country, but preserved the culture so that 150 years later their descendants still speak polish despite not being there at all, sing the songs etc, but also somehow managed to mix 2 cultures). Does anyone have some other ideas?
