"...plants that reach for the sun have a strong solar quality, which lends itself to workings of healing, happiness, and joy.

Plants that are poisonous or develop strong root systems and return year after year have a saturnine quality, lending themselves to necromancy, cursing, and dark spirit work.

Plants with barbs, thorns, or irritants are martial in nature and are useful for defense and success in competitive areas.

If a plant has large, fragrant blossoms, it can be said to possess a venereal nature, potent in love, friendship, and beauty.

Plants that hold watery or milky substances or enjoy the shade have a lunar quality, useful in divination and foresight.

Plants with complex, small leaves or petals that flutter in the wind often have a mercurial nature, useful for learning, communication, and trade.

Plants that produce prolific nuts or seeds are connected to the planetary force of Jupiter, useful for success, wealth, and influence."

the fool: Moss Moss, a nickname I was given from my unhealthy obsession with flora.

the magician: No, I've never done that and hope that I never do. The lyrics would be great, don't get me wrong, but the voice? I hope no one ever needs to hear my singing voice.

the high priestess: My dream date would be a picnic by a creek, where I bring along assorted pastries and jams, and then later we do a ritual under the full moon.

the empress: I have autophobia, so I hope so.

the emperor: Tanzanite, Belladonna, Andromeda, Selene, Nyx; a few names of witchy or Greek origin.

the hierophant: Yes and no, I believe souls of the deceased can go wherever they choose; to watch over people, to reincarnate, to go to another world. When I said "yes and no" it's because I don't like to think of them as ghosts, rather spirits.

the lovers: If we're talking celebrities, yes, many. If we're talking real life people, I'm trying to get over someone.

the chariot: My thoughts on astrology are that you take what resonates with you. While it may not be backed by science, I think astrology can be quite accurate, and it has been most of the time in my life.

strength: My dream occupation is to become a radiographer, whilst perhaps starting up an occult business on the side.

the hermit: As in fizzy drinks? I don't honestly have a preference, I drink tea, whether it be hot or iced.

wheel of fortune: Once Upon a Dream by Lana Del Ray, Sisters of the Moon by Fleetwood Mac and My Girlfriend Is a Witch by October Country.

justice: I like bicolour roses, like Tudor roses.

the hanged man: I think you can judge pretty accurately the type of person I am when I tell you; the Lord of The Rings soundtrack by Howard Shore.

death: Love somebody, buy a house somewhere rural and start a family of little Pagan witches!

temperance: I have some whacky dreams, but I'll tell you one. I was relaxing near a building, much like a clubroom for a sports team, and then there was a giant wave that flooded everywhere. I was sprinting to safety, which was a collection of small yellow buildings and a few eucalyptus trees, and then my legs stopped working and I fell to the ground, screaming and crying. Then a red-headed woman came up to me and told me that waking up was going to be the easiest way of surviving and that she envied me.

the devil: Of course, even when I was a child I had a fascination with them.

the tower: Blues, which bring out my eyes. My father (who I no longer see) and myself are the only people in our family with blue eyes, so I enjoy wearing colours that bring them out.

the star: No, I haven't.

the moon: No, I haven't.

the sun: Of course, do you really think people are that creative to invent stories about witches and hags?

judgement: I enjoy learning and educating myself, becoming more intelligent. And as I said, I'm an autophobic person, I need to be around a person loyal to me.

the world: Yes, I mean how many sunrises can you witness in your lifetime?

☀️🌙✨ tarot questions ✨🌙☀️

the fool: do you have any nicknames? the magician: have you ever written a poem or song about somebody else? the high priestess: what is your dream date? the empress: do you think you will ever get married? the emperor: what are some names that you like? the hierophant: do you believe in ghosts? the lovers: do you have a crush? the chariot: thoughts on astrology? strength: what is your dream occupation?  the hermit: what is your favorite soda pop? wheel of fortune: first three songs that come on shuffle? justice: favorite color of rose? the hanged man: favorite movie soundtrack? death: what are three things you want to do before you die? temperance: can you describe a strange dream you’ve had? the devil: do you enjoy thunderstorms? the tower: favorite colors to wear? the star: have you ever seen a psychic? the moon: have you ever written a love letter? the sun: do you believe in magic? judgement: do you enjoy school? the world: do you like waking up early?

1. Imagining and visualizing are quite similar, but imaging things is a lot less restricted by the way our universe works. You can imagine a unicorn and a cat having a tea-party in your front yard, but it's not going to happen. As long as your intentions are strong and clear, it shouldn't matter if you have a clear picture in your mind or not. I have the same issue, don't stress.

2. Of course you can! Sabbats observe seasonal changes, and anyone is allowed to celebrate that! You can do and take pieces from the celebrations if you'd like to make them your own, and have a special meaning to you. Even non-witches can observe new seasons and equinoxes!

3. No, if people focus too much on the materials rather than their purpose in your craft, there probably spreading false information.

4. Of course you can! In fact, most witches do. You're practicing your craft, a journey your spirit guides should be helping you on. It's not disrespectful at all!

5. I worship Aphrodite too! Yes, you don't need to make Aphrodite your patroness to worship her or dedicate facials to her. Back in Ancient Greek times they worshipped gods and goddesses and asked for help and guidance but never necessarily worked with them.

6. It can, but you don't need to label yourself or your craft and limit yourself because something that interests you defies the stereotype. Do your research on what you're drawn to and go from there. I'm a green witch, I've found that "label" suits me best as I've always liked plants and the idea of faeries living in my backyard.

7. I completely understand! Don't stress. Personally, I write whatever I'm thinking about down before a meditation session. Like "What am I going to eat for dinner?". Then I can think about these thoughts afterwards.

Questions from a baby witch to the more experienced witches out there

Ok so hii, i have some questions i need help with. Some of them might be cause i still need to read and learn but i still want to know lol. I’ve only been into this beautiful world of witchcraft for around 7-8 months.

Also english is my second language, if you dont understand something let me know and i’ll try to explain myself better!

1. Whats the actual difference between imagining and visualizing? Cause i can imagine things easily but i can’t actually like see, for example, the circle im casting.

2. Can i celebrate beltane, yule, ostara etc even if im not pagan/wiccan? Of course im not trying to offend anyone by asking this! I genuinly want to know, cause i’ve read that these celebrations are from closed cultures/religions but i’ve also seen people out of those cultures/religions celebrating them and im lost.

3. Is it true that runes have to be made put of wood? I read a girl saying that if they’re made out if other materials they won’t work as they should and i want to be sure before buying them.

4. Is it ok if i have my tarot readings on my altar? I have kind of a scarf (its not an actual scarf) on my altar that i use to lay my cards and practice. I always cleanse the space but i wanted to know if it’s ok and not disrespectful? I also have my spirit guides candle there for worshipping and a warding/protection spell jar just to be sure

5. Can i worship a deity without working with them? I’ve asked this before lol but i just want to be really cautious. I really like Aphrodite, im an esthetician so when i give myself a facial treatment i dedicate it to her lol. Could i have things for her on my altar?

6. Does knowing what kind of witch you are take a long time? I know i have a long way to go and a lot of time ahead of my to figure it out, i just want to know from someone’s experience :) im kinda into divination though. Is there a way, besides practice, to know what my gifts are?

7. Meditating sometimes its hard for me cause i cant stay still and i have a thousand thoughts per minute. Any tips for this? I try focusing on my breathing and do guided meditations but my mind always ends up drifting away and its very hard for me to concentrate

Thanks in advance and i hope i dont offend anyone!!!!

fadingskies' guide to: Cleansing

 Fadingskies' Guide To: Cleansing

So, what is Cleansing?

Cleansing is a gentle form of the removal of energies. Cleansing removes unwanted energies latched onto objects, people or spaces and purifies. Witches use cleansing before spells or rituals, to clean the vibe from new objects in their lives or to get rid of any bad vibes.

How can I cleanse?

You can cleanse using whatever method calls out or works for you, as your craft needs to be tailored to your boundaries, interests and intuition. Here are some popular methods:

Smoke cleansing - Smoke cleansing uses bundles of dried herbs or flowers, or incense

Sound cleansing - Sound cleansing uses bells, windchimes, singing bowls, high vibrational songs or just songs you find powerful that can radiate good vibes and remove old ones

Cleansing sprays - Cleansing sprays can be sprays made of Florida Water or essential oil

Essential oils - Essential oil cleansings can be using a diffuser with essential oils, using a cotton ball and wiping surfaces down or creating a cleansing spray

Crystal cleansing - Crystal cleansing uses crystal by walking around and through spaces with crystals or putting crystals in set locations.

Salt - Salt can be sprinkled or scattered around a place to purify it

Water cleansing - Water cleansing uses tap or charged water to cleanse a space, you can use it in a diffuser, pour droplets in certain places or spray it

Fire cleansing - Fire cleansing uses the element of fire to cleanse a space, you can use a candle or ashes

Lemon wedges cleansing - Lemon wedge cleansing is by far my favourite, coat several lemon wedges in salt, catch the bad vibes and dispose of them, when the shrivel up

Is there anything important to note?

Yes, there is! Never use anything from another culture that you have not been welcomed to; whether it be a spell, ritual, holiday, plant or music. Plants like white sage and palo santo are not to be used by anyone outside of the culture they are sacred to. Also, please note, your are "smoke cleansing" if you aren't Native American. Don't say "smudging" please, don't piss me off.

And like all areas of witchcraft, the root of cleansing is the intent. Anyone can throw salt in every direction or wave a smoking stick around, but to truly drive away negative energy you need to intend for your choice of cleansing to do just that.

Blessed Be, my little witchlings!

A Day In The Life Of A Green Witch.

a day in the life of a green witch.

to honor nature and use it in our crafts.

it shows in the way we hang our herbs to the flowers strewn about our home. it's in everything we touch, and everything we see.

we respect nature, and the earth thanks us for it.

the energy tonight is so intense. cherish it, work with it, and most importantly, respect it.

this type of energy is rare. remember to light a candle to honor the blue moon, amidst whatever else you have planned for tonight.

happy samhain ✨🕯️

and i need to address a few things, as well. i'm a pretty neutral page, and being uplifting to those just starting out in their practice is something i enjoy doing. positivity and encouragement is extremely important.

i've been seeing a lot of "you're a real witch when___" lately

no. just no.

you're a real witch regardless if you're self sufficient or not. look up spells if it's needed, find a mentor if it's needed, educate and find yourself with your pace. it does not mean you're any less.

you're a real witch if you don't have a grimoire, or you don't have your spells memorized.

you're a real witch if you fall into depression and find it hard to practice. make sure your deities know this, find little ways to keep them happy.

you're a real witch, regardless of race, sexuality, whether you're just starting out or you've been practicing for years.

you're a real witch if you're not gatekeeping.

don't discourage our young witches. they need reassurance too. there is no wrong or right way to practice, as long as you're aware of which practices are closed and shouldn't be used unless you're from that heritage.

you're a witch, period. stop telling people that they have to fit a certain criteria to be a "real witch"

i don't believe that you become a witch. it was within and around you all along.

every time you'd collect rocks as a child, or spoke to the moon when you needed comfort, or even when that warm, tingling sensation would hit you while walking in the woods. it was always the little things that didn't quite make sense.

it was calling to you, remember that. you're no less just because you figured it out later.

self care is going into a thrift store and buying random items that work well with your craft. jars, bowls, candle holders, spice shelves, otherwise nonwitchy objects that can easily be personalized. i've bought some of my most favorite alter items from thrift stores.

it's a surreal feeling. and i wanna feel it again.

do you feel it, too? everything feels off within the veil. the Earth is giving off signals, and no one can seem to read them. is she distressed? is she happy?

something's coming and it's eerie to see how many other witches feel it too.

Green Witch Tip:

Cork Planters | Carved Chalices!

If you have limited space, or you enjoy tiny versions of pretty things like the goblins we are, cork planters are the perfect option for you!

I typically use a pocket knife to carve out the hole, and then a dremel to smooth the edges and/or make a creative design! The nails are typically used for stability. Remember to use succulent specific mulch or potting soil!

I also enjoy carving mini chalices like above, especially for my altar! You can add all sorts of things inside, like herbs, succulents, salts, crystals, etc! Whatever your deity/ies may desire.

your grimoire does not have to be full of water colors, or illustrations, or dried plants, or essential oil infused ink. your pages do not have to be pristine, you don't have to include aesthetic tapes, or pretty polaroids.

you're allowed to mess up. your grimoire can have tears, or burns, or coffee stains, or wrinkled pages from the time you spilled your tea all over the place. it can be written in .5 mechanical pencil led or crayon.

the point is, your grimoire is apart of you. and if you love it, then you're doing it right.

the connection a witch has with nature is undeniable.

it's incredible, feeling at peace inside a humid forest.

it's unexplainable, feeling the energy underneath the water when you reach through it's current.

the connection we have is inside of everything. the sunshine, the rain, the call of the wind, the fire that keeps us warm— both inside and out.

we come from nature. we must treat her with respect.

when the sea calls to you, you must listen— for every embodiment of mother nature has something to say. that pull you feel is only natural. embrace it, and she will grace you with yet another whispered secret.

witchy writing tips!

Witchy Writing Tips!

i - can't find your inspiration? needing to focus? use essential oils! dab some on your paper, or even directly into the ink! peppermint is fantastic for calming the mind and helping to concentrate! rosemary is another great example of enhancing cognitive performance.

and for those techy witches scolding me for even suggesting essential oils on computers, no worries! place a drop or two on your inner wrist!

ii - mediate next to your wip! this is an amazing way to connect further with your characters and the world inside!

iii - light some candles! scented or unscented are fine. after all, it's the color that matters! yellow can help specifically with increasing activity, while brown promotes concentration.

iv - use crystals! i use crystals daily and they give me a lot of energy! use alexandrite for that little spark of inspiration!

v - tea! before, during, or even after writing, drinking tea has always aided me. i use a mixture of lavender and peppermint to boost my mood, spark creativity, and it's incredible for your immune system!

vi - make your own pen/enchant your pen

i suppose making your own pen is a bit far-fetched, right? so, perhaps you can find a feather that calls to you. doesn't sound appealing? enchant the pen you favor and let the pen do the thinking for you.
