Pattern’s frustration with language being arbitrary and stupid is so real

Something fascinating about Words of Radiance in comparison to Way of Kings is… everyone is so much angrier??? Kaladin and Shallan are like- mostly just pitiful the entire first book, but now that their situations are improved the both of them just go off the rails.

Shallan and Kaladin’s sass levels are so PERFECTLY aligned. This battle of wits is absolutely absurdly even. I adore them.

You guys have no idea at all how much I both A) Dread the upcoming Eshonai corruption arc and B) Desperately need an un-corruption arc

If you bastards come into the tags like “oh she dies in Book 4” I will END your pitiful lives. She’s gonna get married to and kiss Kaladin and live happily ever after.

I love her so much

It aches my heart to see people get injured… it’s almost more painful to me than seeing people die in books. She’s paralyzed. It’s… I- it’s so heartbreaking to witness. I feel so much desire to help Rysn, but she’s not even real. Aaghck. Empathy suuucccckkkssss sometimes.

Been re-reading the Way of Kings recently and… it’s a truly fascinating series of “almost”s. Shallan almost gets away with her theft. Kaladin almost saves the people be chooses to protect. On a re-read these grow even more obvious. It’s almost like reading the Odyssey with just how damn close they get to their goals over and over again.

Elantris thoughts

I finally finished reading elantris

(I finally finished a book?!)

(AAAAAA!)

These are the things that I loved about it!

Pacing! It was quick, with the right amount of descriptions

Everything is explained in a logical way. For example the reason behind the dirt that is all over elantris, why the Aons do not work etc..

Seons. I don't know, I liked them. They are a fun concept to implement in a fantasy book.

Some characters like: Raoden, Hrathen and Roial

What I did not particularly like:

I think that it is a common thought that Sarene was too much a "not like other girls" girl. While all the other women were treated like powerless or incompetent just because they did more feminine activities

We were ROBBED of some scenes between Raoden and his old friends, like Lukel and Shunden.

I would have loved to have more lore on the other cultures like jindo and duladel

i would also have loved to have a more in depth description of the secondary characters, but I do realize that the book is already long.

Aiden?? I was very intrigued by his character and I think that the truth was a bit lost in the whole scene.

The end. Just wanted to tell somebody.

Final thoughts: I really liked it, I will proceed with other Sanderson books!!

Redrawing this. It was the second ever Stormlight scene I drew, from one listening on the audiobook, and I didn't much like it even before I got the kindle version and realised how far off my depiction was. So now, have a sufficiently wet and miserable Kaladin. And a very cute Syl.

More Oathbringer stuff

look i know the szeth prologue carries a lot of introductory information as to the magic system and how it can be used (and if there is one thing the cosmere in general excels at it is using the rules of a hard magic system in interesting ways for fight scenes) but it is so crazy that his internal monologue is so full of grief for what he is about to do and his first spoken line is "what am i? i'm sorry" and then he starts killing people in such an overcomplicated rube goldbergian way. why'd he lash a guy to the ceiling above an upright spear and just wait (fearspren spawning up around them) until the lashing broke and he impaled himself. you didnt have to do that man no one was around to see it

I want to have an aesthetic Tumblr so bad, I want it to inspire me to write and make art, but I cannot. I will be Fandom Trash forever, always have been, always will be. And my liked posts are getting crowded. They want out.

Stormlight Archive movie/ TV show

Part of me hopes they never make The Stormlight Archive series into movies or a TV series because I don't think they could do it justice at all, even if Brandon Sanderson had complete creative control.

But oh my God...

Thoughts on Rhythm of War...

(Semi-spoilers? Trying to keep it clean...)

-I cannot believe I just finished Rhythm of War and I'm about to start on Wind and Truth already.

-I cannot believe Taravangian... and that Cultivation thought that would actually work/help/make things better somehow

-Adolin has grown on me so much

-"WE CHOSE!"

-Chapter 85 about Dabbid had me 😭

-Chapter 104 had me screaming MOASH YOU F@#$ING BASTARD TRAITOR NOOOOOOOO that was awful

-It's funny that Lyft had the flute

-So many good quotes and conversations of course, like the one between Noril, Kaladin and Teft in Chapter 25 about darkness

-Navani "Don't let his lies become your truth"

-Syl's assertion that hair is gross because it oozes out of little holes and you just let it sit there 😂

- I'm still not sure how I feel about Venli

-I really liked how they ended things with Eshonai

- LOVED what happened with Rlain and the spren

Oathbringer, again

As eager as I am to read the next book in the Stormlight Archive series, I also find myself wanting to just sit with Oathbringer for a little while.

There was a lot of awesomeness in this one book and I'm still processing it.
