With his most recent skill developments, Kaladin would make for an absolutely incredible Soulcaster. He would simply therapize the Stick into realizing that deep down in its wooden heart it wants to be Fire. Shallan could never.
Fun fact: Shallan lost the ability to transform into Veil not because she incorporated her after accepting her traumatic past, but rather because the second she rejected Kaladin Stormface the Charming Flying Man, Veil decided she could no longer work in such a hostile work environment and handed in her two weeks notice.
Looking back at Wind and Truth, I'm really glad I didn't reread any of the previous Stormlight books since Branderson had graciously decided to send half of the characters to the fucking Flashback Realm™️ so that you are essentially forced to reread all of the important scenes anyways...
I am manifesting with all my soul that Kaladin gets something cool to do in the (presumed?) 10 years before the Heralds need to return for the Odium showdown again. Therapy is great and all, but after 2-3 years I think most of Kaladin's work will be done and it will be up to the Heralds themselves to put into practice what they had learned/discovered.
I need Kaladin to be conveniently summoned/manifested offworld and save a planet from inevitable doom. I need a Kaladin training arc with Taln and Nale from which he will emerge an absolute menace to the larger Cosmere.
I need it so that when he finally gets his dramatic return in the second arc of Stormlight he will single-handedly turn the tide of the war.
I am Kaladin fanboy trash and I am not ashamed to admit it.
I know that technically the Windrunners' third Oath tells them to protect even those whom they hate, but I swear to Adonalsium that somewhere in the second arc of Stormlight, Kaladin, having learned of Leyten's death and Sigzil's disappearance, is going to take a good, hard look at Moash and immediately swear the 6th Windrunners' oath which goes somewhere along the lines of: "...but THIS BITCH deserves to die."
Wind and Truth theory fact. Gavinor did not grow to hate Dalinar for the atrocities he had committed, but rather as a natural consequence of having to watch your grand-uncle tell your dad that he's banging your grandmother 10000 times back-to-back.
She is ten but she killed her in-laws in one week
He is 10 but got overthrown by his own government
something something if i had a nickel for every time the original mistborn trilogy set up an almost love triangle that was never actually a love triangle which Vin promptly solved with murder i’d have two nickels
The funniest love triangle in fiction happened in The Well of Ascension, the second Mistborn book, where Zane was like "[insert evil laugh here] I'm gonna torture my half-brother by making his girlfriend fall in love with me and force her to choose between us". Meanwhile Vin is just living her life and dealing with plot stuff and never gives any indication of harboring the barest romantic or even platonic feeling towards Zane, and when he finally makes his offer she's like "what the fuck dude of course I'm not picking you". The third point of the non-existent triangle, Elend, remains blissfully unaware of any all these events (including that he has a half-brother) because he's too busy dealing with other plot stuff. Anyway, kudos to Zane for inventing clowns in Scadrial
i think it’s also kinda implied that the highstorms have a huge effect on height/stature, bc the alethi, who live closest to the origin, have the tallest average height on roshar, while the shin, who are completely sheltered, have the shortest average height
I hadn't quite noticed just how tall Kaladin is supposed to be until it was mentioned here. I'm noticing it now that I'm looking for it in this read through. [Redacted] in The Sunlit Man is tall compared to the people on Canticle, but short compared to the Alethi. How fuckin tall is Kaladin? Is he a Chara sized 20 year old?
More importantly...is he taller than Rock? Rock is bulky and overall bigger, but IS HE TALLER?? I DO NOT KNOW!?
I just started reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, and Sarene immediately reminded me of Eilonwy from The Chronicles of Prydain - similar looks, personality, and glowing orb companion.
Does anyone have any tips for writing a cross-series Cosmere fanfic? I have some characters and a skeleton of a plot built up but I’m not sure where to go from here.
Never written fanfic before. Any tips?
Every time I info-dump about Brandon Sanderson I don’t think of it as ranting and more as introducing these poor people to our true Lord and Savior
Guys he’s so fucking stupid.
Bands of Morning Spoilers
I have a feeling this Twinborn Terrace kid that Wax shot in the eye is gonna end up the main antagonist of this book. Let’s see if my wild and absurd ability to predict things makes a comeback.
Yo, holy shit, Elantris is referenced in the Ars Arcanum. Yeeeaassssss let’s go!!!
Shadows of Self Spoilers
She’s wearing Lessie’s face… and knew in intricate detail how she “died”. She was either Bloody Tan… or Lessie herself. I am. I am confident Lessie was a Kandra the whole time. It fits her hatred of being manipulated by Harmony… maybe she actually loved him? Maybe she didn’t want to lose the life they lived at the time. Maybe she was forced to go along with Sazed’s plans and lost her favorite face… and that broke her. Fuck, please if I’m right I’m going to be irreparable.
Soony Cubs.
Mistborn Era 2 is easily the funniest series I’ve read in the Cosmere. Like. He goes crazy with the humor this time.
MeeLan wants Wayne so damn bad oml. World’s most down-bad flesh thing
Talking so my friend about Kaladin and she hasn’t read the books. And she says “I love Paladin with a K” and… huh.,,. I- there’re NO WAY that’s correct, right??? There’s NO. WAY.
MeLaan is absolutely incredible and I love her so much. She and Wayne are a phenomenal pair. Every dynamic in this book is amazing. I honestly haven’t even met a single character I’ve disliked or even found boring yet.
(Also you guys better send me MeLaan x Wayne art in the reblogs, I’m begging. They’re perfect. If anyone can pull a shapeshifting, immortal demigod it’s Wayne.)
Wind and Truth Spoilers (Maybe)
Yeah so I’m like… 90% sure Taravangian!Odium is going to elect like- some total innocent as his champion. I don’t remember he or Dalinar imposing any like… restrictions on who could be chosen as a champion. So like… while there’s a chance it’s a powerful Fused, I think a more surefire bet would be something akin to a Singer child. A sickly, frail Singer child. A blind sickly Singer child with no parents. Taravangian listened to Dalinar rant about “journey matching the destination” so many times. It’s uh! Yeah. I’m worried for our man.
“Hello, Crazy.”
“Hello, Idiot.”
oh my gosh Wayne and Steris are best friends
I hope the rest of the crew shows up like that!!!!!
Mistborn Era 2/Stormlight spoilers
Just gonna go out on a limb here, but I think the big bad organization Wax’s uncle is working with is preparing for some sort of Cosmic war thing. The things they are doing are utterly reprehensible and the only way I can fathom them doing it with a good conscience is believing it’s for the “greater good”. So with the knowledge that the government is… well, made of these men, and Harmony isn’t corrupt, the only thing big enough to make this make sense (obviously to a demented, immoral mind) would be an out-of-world threat like Odium or another Shard.
I imagine their justification is something like “You see what you did to that building, Wax? With these children we can selectively breed allomancers and feruchemists of whichever type we want, then combine their powers with Hemalurgy to create impossibly powerful soldiers. Imagine an army of 100 Miles Hundredlives! We’d be unstoppable.” With knowledge of hemalurgy and compounding and all that, I imagine they’d independently arrive at the concept of making another Lord Ruler, which like… would be extremely difficult to deal with for anyone we’ve seen in the Cosmere. But yeah, they’d feel they were doing the right thing, “making the hard choice for the greater good”
Then Wax would be all like “but the cost in lives is ridiculous! This is not worth it, man, can’t you see that?” Blahblahblah blah. This is a stretch, so I’d not be surprised if it’s something totally unrelated, but a lot of Rhythm of War is spent ranting about an impending God War, so it doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Oh hey Actual God appeared and he gave you a funny coat and some guns. This means we’ve hit the Sanderlanche.
oh my god. With the earring in, Harmony can LITERALLY speak with worshipers oh my fuck. Because he has the Shard of Ruin and can do all the things we see him do, Hemolurgy is under his dominion… Aaaaaaaa that’s so cool. I hadn’t stopped to think about it until just now, but that is SO cool!!!
hot damn, I was right about that last part lmfao
I have a gut instinct telling me this butler character is gonna be a highlight. His sass. His attitude. His barely constrained urge to strangle Wax… It’s beautiful.
Wayne does things that would send Shallan into doom spirals. He method acts for fun and Shallan would have crumpled like a house of cards beneath his rambles about accents and personality and “stealing voices”.
He no-diffs Shallan, not because he can manipulate time, but rather because she simply couldn’t keep up with his Spastic Man Swag™️
I- S-spook’s street slang. B-became. THE ANCIENT HIGH TONGUE OF NOBILITY
That’s. That’s the best thing I’ve ever heard. Sanderson you’re such a genius.
