synopsis: barbatos’ birthday was an unusually important occasion to you but it left you feeling rather disappointed. That is, until you were able to meet Barbatos in the garden.  (meant to be read as if it was the start of the exchange program while you two were still distant.)

Even for the briefest of times that you’ve found yourself inside the Devildom; you’ve always looked upon Diavolo with a certain sense of pity. A certain restraint too – how can someone so special to everyone around him, someone so powerful that holds strands of all that goes on – be so lonely? Is it even alright to pity him for that? Perhaps his kind of lonely was a luxury only few could ever afford?  

But then again; you are simply a human. Someone out there would surely be brave enough and ignorant enough to say that even your kind of lonely inside this darkness where you were treated so fragilely but also savagely, was a luxurious feeling.  

You might be lonely but you’re in the darkness that hasn’t swallowed you.  

But, why even compare?   Isn’t loneliness enough by itself so that it means something?  

But over time, things surely change and you’ve grown more open to this realm and in response it seemed to grow gentler to you too.  

And you’ve realized – that Diavolo sees Barbatos as an extension of himself.
