I understand the sentiment a lot because I returned to the DC fandom after a long stay in the WuXia novel one where -for those who know- such a war is unleashed every week because romanticism and ships develop a lot even among members of the same Clan who are not necessarily related to each other but call each other Martial Brother or Marial Sister. I'll let you imagine what happens. I'm generally late in the fandom, until a few years ago I didn't even know that robin was played by different guys - anime was much more popular in Italy during my "formative years" - so sadly for me I've dealt with a lot of idiots who think that the effect -I don't know what it's called exactly- of two people raised under the same roof and by the same people automatically not seeing each other as potential partners applies to everyone who is included in a "Family" and apparently they appreciate more really crazy stuff than two men hurt in different ways and a relationship so complicated that it makes the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine and her husband seem calm. The desire to argue with these idiots is great, but every time I take a breath, I count to 10 and then I tell myself these three things: 1) Judge no one, idiots exist from all factions of the fandom and it would be very immature to do the same thing. 2) It will raise your blood pressure unnecessarily, preventing you from enjoying your content in peace. 3) Last, but not least, remember that in the Ao3 relationship filter, the ones that have the most fanfiction are respectively the tags Dick Grayson/Jason Todd and Dick Grayson & Jason Todd. I think that says a lot
PS: I'm a poor multishipper who reads anything out there really well without judgement, if you want to start a war stay away
Fandom these days is wild.
I remember how Jaydick used to be the go to vanilla, childhood-crush-to-lovers soft ship for young, first time shippers that wanted something simple and completely unproblematic.
Now going by the general consensus if you ship Jaydick you're a fucking freak of nature and you should repent or burn in hell.
