Also being kin isn't relating <3 relating is being synpath or fictionhearted. Being fictionkin means you *are* or *were* the character. You identify *as* not *with* said character. if you relate to warren then you are a warren synpath; not a warren kin <3

heavily relating to a character does not inherently mean you kin them. stop using words not meant for you!!

Can I just say how much I love that the creators of DHMIS clearly love their fans? Like, in this one interview, it kind of comes across like they expect Joe and Becky to be disturbed by the fact that so many fans make humanized versions of the characters and ship them together. And Becky and Joe are both just like “Yeah, we know - it’s amazing and we love that our fans decided to explore ideas like that”.

I feel the need to share this with people since the general population either fails or refuses to understand:

Kin, aka otherkin/otherkind, refers to someone who *is* a character/object/etc. Not who relates to a character, not the act of relating to a character, not a character you relate to.

There are better terms for the misuse of the word. One example is synpath (an example of which would be my synpath Alex Fierro; I’m not Alex, I just relate to her.)

Other alternatives are funlinker, constelic, and lith among others. If it’s identifying with in an “I want to be that” way, you could use otherhearted to explain your experience. Stop stealing terms.

Kintypes aren’t “delusional attachments”, though in some cases it might be related to delusions. Calling all of us delusional is ableist as fuck, by the way. Don’t just coin new terms for a community you aren’t in!

Ok but like when i was shrig the house all of us lived in was so weirdly layed out- like most of us lived in the same house and like there was basically two living rooms? one that looked like the one from the tv show and then one that was like the same room as the kitchen? the kitchen was the same one from dhmis 5. Then across from the counter that was basically off screen in 5 there was another living room- mine and lars room was attached to the kitchen/living room? it was weird- ik theres other rooms too and i think they were weird too i dont remember them that well though
