I’ve seen a few asks/comments running around about how the witches of Tumblr seem to have all their ducks in a row and do magic spells 24/7 and are generally “perfect” because of it. I can tell you this is probably not the case. At least for me its not. I am not a Perfect Witch. I don’t rigorously follow the phases of the moon, most of the time i forget anyways. I don’t do spells on a regular basis (at least not what i consider to be spells) Heck most of the time the most witchy things i do is reblog stuff to this tumblr. So for newbie witches and hidden witches please understand: It’s completely okay to not be a “perfect” witch. Once you’ve discovered that you’re a witch you don’t have to cast spells 24/7 in order to protect your title. The Title of Witch is yours as soon as you decide you want to Claim It. No one can or should tell you how to run your path. That is something you will have to discover for yourself, and honestly that’s the best part of the journey. So you forgot a sabbat, big whoop. Sabbats come and go and i rarely do anything for them anyways (maybe halloween but thats tradition haha) Another full moon pass you by? That’s okay, some people don’t like working with the moon and that’s also okay. Try casting a spell and you don’t think it worked? Trust me i still do spells and most of the time they don’t work too. So to all the newbies and hidden witches: Do not fret. You have plenty of time to come into your path and please please please do not feel like you HAVE to be perfect in your path. I am proud to follow my path with all its bumps and turns it throws at me
Well, I am hardly an expert, but I can point you in the direction of others who are!

Gender: Feminine (Though this is disputed)

Represents: Longevity and long life, peace, harmony, love attraction and romance, healing, sleep and dreams, the third eye and psychic abilities, as well as purification and spirit healing.
Some uses for lavender:
- Wear the oil, perfume or essence of lavender as a way to attract men, women -or whatever you are into- towards you. Men especially are attracted towards lavender; prostitutes were known to wear lavender in ancient times to draw in clients.
- Drink a tea of lavender before doing any mental or psychic work; it is said to increase both mental and psychic abilities.
- Burn it or scatter it around your house to ward off evil spirits; as well as cleanse and raise the vibes.
- Scatter a mixture of lavender and rosemary across your doorway to keep unwanted guests * and that really irritating postman*
-Carry some on or around you (ex: keep a sprig in your purse or pocket, wear some oil of it on yourself, throw some in your sock drawer, etc.) for a longevity in your life.
- Add some into your skincare to bring a youthful glow and essence to your skin and body.

Shadow Work
Origins, Meaning and Utility
Carl Jung theorized the existence of three levels/spheres in the human psyche: the Ego, representing the conscious mind, the Personal Unconscious where memories are contained and the Collective Unconscious, where all knowledge and experiences of the species are shared.
Each Sphere has in it a certain number of Archetypes, used to better describe the components of those structures, and the Shadow is one of them.
The shadow can be seen as a instinctual or primitive part of ourselves, it exists as part of the unconscious mind and is composed of repressed ideas, weaknesses, desires, instincts, and shortcomings.
It is this archetype that contains all of the things that are unacceptable not only to society, but also to one's own personal morals and values, normally going against social norms and rules as well as what we personally consider right.
The Shadow is often described as the darker side of the psyche, representing wildness, chaos, and the unknown, and it is common for people to deny this element of their own psyche and instead project it on to others.
Art: Unknown
The Shadow, in witchcraft, can represent The Unknown, hidden depth of ourselves. Speaking in terms of energy, this is an area that can be a deep source of energetic issues, because it’s locked up in the dark and always striving to reach the light.
To not work with one’s Shadow is to make it greedy and aggressive, as well as denying a big part of oneself, making everything a half of a whole.
Through that brief explanation, we can already establish the importance and role of the Shadow in witchcraft, and with that in mind, comes the concept of Shadow Work.
Shadow Work can be seen in a number of practices, meditation, trances, inner journey’s, lucid dreaming, astral travels, spells and divination.
The method can change, but the principle is simple: Centering your intent to self discovery, self knowledge and self acceptance.
Working with one’s Shadow is not only beneficial to one’s craft, as it allows one to get in touch with their intuition as well as allows for easier connection with one’s guide/guides, but it also allows for healing and acceptance of one’s feelings and needs.
Think of all aspects of life as a wheel. If there is one part bent, the wheel can turn, but with more effort. If the owner spends time fixing that bent part, the wheel will turn in a much more smooth manner.
That is what happens when you take the time to do Shadow Work, you have to put in effort, and most of the time it’s not easy, but once done, all other components on the wheel of your life will be relieved to move on without that obstacle that makes their job harder.
The Shadow is not evil, as evil is just a moral compass invented by humans. It is a part of one’s nature, and to deny it is to supress a connection with yourself.
Take the time to know and accept your shadow, and you’ll see that life will be a little easier.

Stuck in quarantine? Or just bored? Need something to watch? You’ve come to the right place! This list includes things that are NOT scary. For the latest version of this post, click [here]. I’ll update it if I watch new stuff!
The Craft (1996) (On netflix) This is an obvious one but it’s here nonetheless. I’m not usually into thriller/horror stuff but this movie only really has a few intense scenes. It has a nice plot and I like it because while exaggerated a bit, the representation of witchcraft in it is amazing.
The Love Witch (2016) (On amazon prime) I adore this movie! It is a horror movie and there are some very intense moments but like The Craft it has a nice plot and a color scheme and 60s sort of aesthetic. It’s so calm and beautiful sometimes I just forget it’s even labeled as a scary movie. Also like the craft it has an impressively accurate depiction of witchcraft. If you like witchy movies, horror movies, witchy aesthetic or practice glamour/love magic and wanna see dark twist on that then please watch this movie. The Witch (2015) (On netflix) This is a slow burn sort of horror movie. There’s definitely gore, but I’d describe it as more disturbing than scary. The plot is centered around the family’s slowly building suspicion that their eldest daughter is a witch. It’s certainly not realistic. But very occult-y and scary. Probably the scariest thing on this list. If you’re looking for a real horror movie, here it is. Coraline (2009) (On netflix) I actually have a post about all the witchcraft that’s in this movie despite it never explicitly mentioning witches. Link [here] if you wanna read it. Anyways! This movie is about a girl who discovers a secret door that leads her to another world that’s much like her own. Everything is a bit off though, and her ideas about the world begin to unravel. Creepy, but not gory at all.
Mary & The Witch’s Flower (2017) (On netflix) Looking for something feel good and not scary? This one is for you! In this movie Mary finds a hidden magical flower that leads her to a school for witches. It’s super cute, get yourself a cat and some tea and relax to this one. Hocus Pocus (1993) This is a favorite from when I was a kid. It’s spooky but in a very Disney, kid friendly sort of way. Good for someone that wants to watch something quirky and laid back. Halloweentown (1998) Also a favorite from when I was little! This one is about a girl who discovers her grandma is from “Halloweentown” a place where supernatural creature live, and she’s a witch. It’s not a realistic representation of witches at all but it’s also very quirky and cute.
The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (2018) (On netflix) I really love this show! It’s got some spooky parts like the movies mentioned above but the majority of it is just a bit dramatic at most. It has some heartfelt and funny moments too. The association with Satanism that the show has isn’t ideal but it’s still one of my favorite shows ever, definitely my favorite show about witchcraft and the occult. Bewitched (Premiered 1964) An oldie but a goodie. This is a sitcom from the 60s that I’ve watched since I was little. It’s about a woman, Samantha, who falls in love with a mortal and therefore has to pretend to be one. Very casual, good background noise.
Little Witch Academia (2017) (On netflix) This lovely little anime is about an underdog of a girl, Akko, who accidentally finds herself at a school for witches. Not spooky at all, very cutesy! I hope you’ve found something good to watch here. Have a lovely day! 💖
