Carol saying “I don’t have anything to prove to you.” meant so much to me because she literally had been told all the way through the movie, by a man, that she was too emotional. And she just totally disregards him and uses her anger and throws him away (literally) because she doesn’t owe him shit and she’s more powerful, so why should she fight with one hand tied behind her back?
literally me the second I heard duel of the fates in the kenobi trailer:
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
yeah sure say fuck you to jk rowling but dont forget to like. actually support trans women.
people are talking more about the grammys than the uk govt trying to screw over queer and abused kids but sucks to be us i guess
Captains supporting Captains!
the hannibal showrunner posting a recent selfie of hugh dancy and mads mikkelson hanging out meanwhile jared and jensen are publically breaking up on twitter I can feel this website about to burn down
Obviously, I hope that everyone in Ukraine stays safe and Ukrainians deserve all of our support right now but I also wanted to say that my heart goes out to all people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia who have been living with the fear of Russian intervention for years and now see their worst fears come true. I see so many posts about how "we shouldn't worry as Westerners because the war will not affect us directly" and while this is absolutely true, I wanted to take a second to acknowledge those who do have to live with the fear that it might affect them directly. I don't have anything more to offer than words and it's not worth much but if you are from Poland, Estonia, Kazakhstan or any other country close to Russia or Ukraine and you are afraid because you don't know what the current events means for the future of your country, I am with you in thought and sending you a warm hug with this post.
The UK government passed the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill today, which gives police massive control over protests… including preventing them if they’re too ‘annoying’ or ‘noisy’ (even if it’s only a single protester). It also effectively criminalises the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller lifestyles, and recommends 10 year prison sentences for statue vandals.
The bill passed on the same day as the government announces the abandoning of all Covid precautions, where Boris Johnson basically stood up in front of the country and said ‘yeah more people will die, but yeah… money. Do whatever the hell you want and fuck collective responsibility, every man for himself’.
Thereby COMPLETELY ignoring SAGE, the scientific experts who advise the government, who have warned that variants that are resistant to the vaccine might develop.
And all of this isn’t even mentioning the Electoral Integrity Bill that was also read today, which is looking to introduce voter ID to prevent fraud… THERE IS NO WIDESPREAD VOTER FRAUD IN THE UK. 4 people were convicted, and 2 people were cautioned by police in the last election.
6 people.
Out of roughly 47 MILLION people of voting age.
It’s just a move to disenfranchise voters.
Every day this hellhole just gets worse.
some of my favourite prince phillip tweets so far
i’ve not seen a lot in the media about this so i’m going to do my best to put this into words and explain what will happen if the government is successful in replacing the human rights act with the rights removal bill.
this will mean that in the uk:
you won’t be allowed to say anything negative about the government
if you are disabled or chronically ill, you won’t be allowed to say no to being given a DNR in hospital
you won’t be allowed to bring ‘trivial’ human rights violations to court
public authorities (the police) won’t have to actively protect people’s human rights
the uk military will be allowed to basically do whatever they want overseas
if you ever commit a crime, they can disregard your human rights
the government will not be obligated to obey human rights
if you are from the uk PLEASE sign this petition, and also to everyone else, please please please share this.
