people are talking more about the grammys than the uk govt trying to screw over queer and abused kids but sucks to be us i guess
Things that happened in Bristol and London late last night:
-In Bristol, at about midnight, the police put dispersal order in place and brought the dogs out again.
-They arrested a number of protestors in a violent and aggressive way, including a medic who was providing first aid.
-In London, a large number of arrested protestors including legal observers are still being held. Organisations suck as Green and Black Cross and Black Protest Legal Support are challenging the legality of some of these arrests.
If you are in either of these cities and can provide post arrest support, please get in touch with the relevant organisations.
Otherwise, keep fighting the good fight.
This could be my last report from Gaza by Tareq S. Hajjaj. Please read.
“We will not blame him for the crimes of his ancestors if he relinquishes the royal rights of his ancestors; but as long as he claims their rights, by virtue of descent, then, by virtue of descent, he must shoulder the responsibility for their crimes.”
— James Connolly, on the visit of George V to Ireland
it is also worth noting that this will be used to cover up the inaction on the cost of living crisis. expect a bunch of "uk coming together to mourn the queen" bullshit soon when families are choosing between heating their homes and feeding their kids

On May 21, 2021, 21 members of the LGBT+ community in Ghana were arrested in Ho (Volta Region) as they held a workshop to strengthen the Ghanaian LGBT+ community. They were arrested on charges of unlawful assembly because they were "...advocating LGBTQI activities". Essentially they were arrested for being, or suspected of being, part of the LGBT+ community. The press release by the police even states "...the Command assures the public of its resolve to get to the bottom of this issue whilst also cautioning the public, particularly parents to be wary of activities of persons involved in this misbehaviour and report them to the Police."
This is not the first instance of community members being arrested simply on suspicion of being LGBT+. Less than two months ago 22 community members were arrested in Kwahu Obomeng on suspicion of attending a lesbian wedding, which attendees said was actually a birthday day. LGBT+ Rights Ghana and other organizations like Humanist Association of Ghana, Economic Fighters League, etc. have condemned this latest arrest and are demanding for the immediate release of the 21 community members.
It hurts not only to see the LGBT+ Ghanaian community being attacked this way, but also to see the lack of support for the community both within the country and amongst the diaspora. Queer Ghanaians need support to help fight the homophobic, transphobic, and overall intolerant government. We've got to spread the word and make noise until every single one of the Ho 21 are released!

BORIS RESIGNING AS PRIME MINISTER!!
the holy grail
There was a shooting in the UK last night, the first once for a pretty long time - five people were shot dead, including a five year old girl, before the shooter turned the gun on himself.
The BBC is trying so hard to turn this into a discussion about the shooter's mental health. I already knew the BBC was a shit show but this genuinely disgusts me. The shooter was a white man in his early 20s and a self identified incel. If the shooter was a person of colour, no one would be making excuses for them and you can guarantee this would be called an act of terrorism, but because the shooter is white, every news outlet is acting as if he's some poor victim who shouldn't be held accountable for his actions.
He murdered innocent people. He murdered a child.
The white privilege and bias in the media isn't surprising, but it's still absolutely disgusting. Fuck the BBC and every other news site for trying to make people pity a literal murderer. Even if he did have mental health issues, that isn't a fucking excuse to kill people. Stop shielding him from his actions just because he's white.
Captains supporting Captains!
I genuinely don’t have the words to describe how horrible the situation is in Palestine. They’re killing people left and right. Every single day.
Like every time someone posts about a murder, i just don’t have the time to type something about it before a new murder is recorded. 4 Palestinians were murdered today. Including a 14 years old boy.
I’m not mentioning the people being shot. I’m not mentioning the arrests. The raids. The people put under administrative detention.
I’m not mentioning the way zionist extremists want to slaughter animals inside Al Aqsa mosque, and are giving rewards for those who do it, just to piss off muslim Palestinians during the most holy month of the year.
I have the tv on right now and I feel like I’m watching a war. It’s absolutely horrible. It just has a lot less media coverage than last year. Palestinians were already speaking about a huge possibility of a third Intifadah but now ? Genuinely if in the next few days the occupation keeps doing the sh*t they’re doing they’re the only ones who take responsibility for the consequences.
And this is not only about the past period of time. This has been going on for over 70 years.
You take a people’s land. Displace thousands. You murder them. Kill their men women and children. Like it’s nothing to you. Like they’re just numbers. You bomb them in an open air prison every couple years. You deny them water, medical care, you deny them from living in their homeland, and treat them like strangers in it. This was all gonna blow up in your faces one day. The occupation is the root of all violence. They’re the only terrorists here.
There is a genocide happening in broad day light. Pure and simple.
Resistance until freedom. By all means necessary.
Free Palestine
