Ughhhh I’m working on a longer piece about the presence of patriarchy/rape culture in the LGBTQ community (and I know a lot of you are separatists, and I also am, but since it’s socially considered a community we all get lumped in together, hence the problems I’m talking about)
But anyway I’ve been stewing over it for like 2 weeks and thinking of what I want to say but there’s just so much it’s hard to figure out how to lay it all out in a way that makes sense and flows well so people will actually want to stick around and read the whole thing 😭😭 send help
have you heard of this spray that makes you see hair on your face that is otherwise invisible so you can shave it with a dull plastic razor that comes in a 20 pack which will be on this planet for hundreds of years??? buy. have you heard of this single use sheet masks that does nothing different than a normal mask and you have to wear it overnight (it will come off) and on flights (you look crazy)??? buy. have you heard of this camera that makes you see your greasy scalp (normal) and dead skin (also normal) up close so you can purchase a treatment for hundreds of dollars and/or exfoliating scrub containing particles that are going down your drain and straight into the sea???? buy. have you heard of this special plastic gadget that
“You just hate sex workers” but I’m advocating to stop the abuse and violence they go through daily
“You just hate sex workers” but I’m advocating for them not to be subjected to sexual illness or infections on the daily
“You just hate sex workers” but I’m advocating to stop them being trafficked and forced into the industry
“You just hate sex workers” but I’m advocating for them to be given higher wages to help them out of the industry
“You just hate sex workers” but I’m advocating to just have them treated as human beings
"Rape me daddy 🤤😫" No dude you don't want ACTUAL rape, you want some sick ass fantasy that you've consented beforehand
If you want to be actual raped then you're genuinely sick and need to go to therapy
Rape literally makes girls kill themselves out of shame, rape gives girls PTSD, rape makes girls feel "unpure" even tho it wasn't their fault, rape + abortion ban makes women carry their rapist babies, rape ruins women's life's. You do not want that
love calling myself a dyke like yes i am the mean and scary lesbian they warned you about on tv
And yet if you assume pronouns it’s also hurtful towards other people within the trans community?? This was one of my biggest issues when I used to think I was trans because it’s extremely “every man for himself” type ideology.
“I don’t like it when people check with me about how I’d like to be be treated so I’ll complain or even lash out at them.”
“Well I don’t like when people DONT check with me so I’ll complain or lash out at them.”
There’s no compassion for those of us trying to simply be respectful and accommodate you, and definitely no compassion for those within the community who have a different experience than you.
Also what type of work environment is allowing miniskirts? I have never found a job in my life that allows that so far, and never known a woman who wished to wear one to work.
This is in fact what everyone is thinking, yes. And policing language more won’t make it stop.
(This was in response to me saying that it’s odd that Chappell says she’s a lesbian while also thirsting after men even within the past couple months, and saying I believe she’s likely bi and febfem)
But I am so TIRED of the “sexuality is fluid” bs. If your sexuality is fluid you are not monosexual!!! You’re bi/pan/“queer”/whatever else you want to use to refer to your status as a polysexual person, which is COMPLETELY fine. But it’s not homosexual. It’s not lesbian. These types of people are only adding fuel to the, “You haven’t tried the right dick yet” fire. Lesbians are not attracted to men, at all. Not only 30%, or 10% or even 1%. We are not attracted to men and we did not have to fight this fight for decades only for people to repackage it in a “woke” way. I’m so tired of how much the supposed left spews the patriarchy wrapped up in a pretty bow and claims it’s true leftism and I’m the backwards one.
I don’t think it’s too much to ask people to use proper words for themselves. I don’t want Chappell or anyone to conform to labels that don’t fit them, I want them to stop claiming labels that don’t fit and forcing the definition of that label to change, and instead choosing the ones that are literally right there and fit perfectly. Being bisexual is amazing and beautiful and I love my bisexual baddies, but being in denial of your bisexuality and claiming lesbianism just leads to messiness.
Im not afraid of God, I am afraid of men.
Idk if this is going to be an unpopular opinion (probably would be in Insta or TikTok but I feel like ppl are a bit more reasonable here), but while goth/punk/grunge/etc are PRIMARILY music and political based subcultures, there is still a fashion element. Fashion is political in today’s world, due to the nature of capitalism and it’s social effects, and the primary hallmark of the fashion side of these subcultures (in their origins) was the DIY clothes that served multiple purposes: reducing your capitalistic footprint, your environmental footprint, and defying social norms of physical presentation. Same thing with makeup, which is weaponized off of women’s insecurities. I respect your right to do whatever you want with yourself but if it happens to be following the exact trends and beauty standards of your current time, it’s not counter-culture.
You can be goth/punk/grunge and dress “normal” because it is primarily musical and political. BUT, you cannot be goth/punk/grunge and wear Shein, Temu, buy into all the latest trends and participate in fast fashion, etc, because that is against the ethics of the subculture. Similarly, we need to stop watering down the look to the point of incomprehension and normalcy and calling it after an alternative counter-cultural group. And I understand being poor, I’ve been low-income for a while now. I thrift what I can but if I really, actually need (not want!) a new pair of jeans and I can’t find one that fits anywhere else, I will go to Walmart and buy a pair from the clearance section. However I then wear and repair that pair of pants until it’s literally tearing apart, and then repurpose the fabric I can salvage into new projects when I can no longer wear it.
“It’s the most punk thing to not care what anyone thinks!!” No it’s not actually. Punk has been defined by it’s almost obsession with politics, ethics, radical empathy with the oppressed, and fighting for change. Ignoring those calling you out on your privilege and your contributions to the capitalistic machine isn’t Punk. And I say all this as someone who’s parents were part of the original alternative scenes back in the 70s-90s, and who’s talked to a lot of people who were in it at the time of its creation.
I swear I have some type of weird Mandela effect with certain celebrity stories because I thought this came out like, 5 years ago?? I stopped listening to him about that time (not that I was a huge fan in the first place) because of it. I’m so confused rn I’ve had this happen with multiple people
apparently kanye west has been a fan of hitler (isn't that a wild ass sentence to say) since his debut album and people in his inner circle knew?? like it was a well known and well kept secret?? he even was inspired by the nazis and used their techniques to gain fame?? he would go up to producers and ask them about the holocaust??????
this is a wild ass article but here's the source:
Why is everyone obsessed with calling sapphic relationships in media toxic? People act like they haven’t seen a slow burn enemies-to-lovers done properly before. Meanwhile, straight couples get to break up twice an episode and scream that they hate each other before a heart-wrenching love confession and everyone eats it up. Booktok has got everybody and their mom drooling over heinous serial criminals disguised as anti-heroes who kidnap their victim and traumatize her into submission. Be ffr.
