I find funny how the anime constantly makes Shigaraki look like Lou Ferrigno in terms of muscles, in some cases his head looks like it doesn't belong to his own body:

But then you have Horikoshi drawing him like this...

Like sure, the muscles are still there but he's not this giant hulk with biceps the size of his head.

Even the manga in the first war arc doesn't have him looked like the anime does:

And I remember even the wiki copes with the idea that the surgery was supposed to give him extra muscles, but that was never stated officially and in any case his natural muscles came from the training in MVA.

Idk what's this obssesion the anime has for making all male characters buff as hell, even Dabi when canonically he's also a pipsqueak.

Surprising how there's so little crossover material between both series, when KNY is like the easiest story to adapt into Avatar style.

Hi, I saw some rewriting idea about Nine saving Shig and yeah it's cool. I also not a fan of the whole "Izu wants to save Baby Tenko" HE NEVER EVEN MEET TENKO OR SAW HIM AS A BABY.

So I want the whole Izu saves Shig still but their relationship would have to be work...and comes an idea.

What if Shig wanted Izu to join his side? He saw how Izu is mistreated by everyone and he wants to save Izu. For once, Shig wants to reach for someone.

Nine is in this equation and we can say ...he wants shig to not be used by afo.

How about that?

An au where Shig wants to make Izu join his side. Shig is making an effort for one hero and later said hero retribute the action.

That could shake Nine's beliefs...or not?

I actually want character development for Nine in the sense he realizes most of his beliefs are not entirely what he actually wants, but more the way being born in extreme conditions molded him to think only the power and strenght matter in a cruel world where people aren't treated equally.

After all, like I said in other of my post I think Nine internally has an unconscious desire to protect the weaks using the strength he possess. And his supposed distaste for weak people is more like a defense mechanism created due experience a hard life marked by the way society puts him down despite his rightfully called divine powers.

Because when you think about it, how did he even knew his friends are all that powerful before know them? He just saw them in such low life conditions and was like "I need to save them".

In my rewrite version of the story Nine does indeed have the heart of a hero, but due his life experiences he knows more drastic actions need to be made in order to improve something. He would be like a middle point between Deku who is pro status quo without realize, and Shigaraki who also shares a similar view but don't view ahead of destroy.

Speaking of which I guess the dynamic of Shigaraki trying to be a hero on his own way for Deku would result of him being scared at first. Because let's admit it, even if Shigaraki has good intentions for Midoriya I think his methods would be far to extreme to Deku accepting his offer, at least at first.

And that's where Nine would act a as a middle point between them.

I talked a lot of why I think Deku and Nine are perfect foils for each other, but his rivalry could find a neutral spot when both of them try to save Shigaraki from the influence of AFO.

Except in this case Nine would be the one to call out Deku for having a very surface level desire of save Shigaraki, a person Midoriya never knew or understand. Deku just want to be a hero because he had a preconceived idea of what is good for criminals, but never look the big picture or care about what happen to them after being arrested (like he does in canon duh).

Nine desire to save Shigaraki in this version of the story (following my previous post) would came from the fact he found Tenko as a child after the Shimura house incident, and they grow to together since they were childs, practically rising him as his little brother. So he knew Tenko better than any other person and also knows how bad AFO influence can be.

Oh I forgot to mention but in this version we skip the body snatching plot point for Shigaraki, as I have other ideas in mind for what AFO would do in this version on the part of getting a perfect vessel.

The Himuras have insane potential for fucked up plot lines about the worst kind of family tropes. You really have to be special if in a family reunion Enji Todoroki seem like the least bad family member Imao.

Nine is more of an underdog raising into the power than what the canon story pretends Shigaraki is.

Think about it: crusty boy got everything on a silver plate, free goons, nomus, body enhancements, the og AFO quirk, fake muscles because he was skinny af and the list goes on. Even his team came to him by other people.

Nine only got an empty inferior copy of AFO yet he made it powerful by his own merits, and nobody got his people to come at him, he recued them earning their respect. Also he alreadg got that perfect body without bs surgeries and enhancements.

The sand thing will never stop being funny. And while I get it's pretty annoying being covered by it or the thing getting in your hair, I bet Cider loves how the sand feels on his feet and toes.

Idk why but I think he also loves being barefoot in general. Of course during combat and such he puts on his tactical boots, but outside of that he takes them off as soon as possible and doesn't like use slippers or anything like that in house.

I ask this bc I do want to give Izumi notoriety. Ofc she will WORK to gain it( I love her, but it would be disingenuous to the story making Izumi win by mere existing) but like the media does talk about the fearsome Usage (it's her moniker. A rare win for this fandom is the bunny jokes for Izu) and the same could be add to Cinder. He is a big name in the thievery world.

I assume the Cider House gang has sort of a reputation, considering their methods to operate and how they can wait for months before a big hit and not get captured in the process.

In my own AU nobody knows Cider is a member of the Himura family btw, but that's also probably because the clan erased a lot of his public registers and invented some story of "our son is overseas" or something like that.

Of course they're a famous gang in the otherworld however.

Ironically Nine is the underdog here, even his origin chapter put emphasis on how he "survived under the radar" considering how crazy his quirk is. I have my own ideas to flesh out this plot point, more info later.

I love the idea of Mizunami being totally clueless about his reputation in certain social media. He would probably think that's a bit cringe, but if it's Izu... he obviously doesn't mind.

He probably can get away because the mask covers a good part of his face, and that's a popular topic among his followers who fantasy about how he looks unmasked.

Only Izu (any version) got the privilege of see that handsome face in person.

Ufotable you created such a badass character for an original anime episode... better give him more screentime in the future.

Believe me, I was trying hard to not give him a name that means just cloud/storms/lightning (and none of the options with those words sounded good in my opinion).

But the fun thing is: Technically his nickname is already related to his quirk.

To be more precise the name Nine seems to be a reference to the term "Cloud Nine" and not just the number of the experiment he was part of as much people (including myself at first) seem to think.

Because at least according to the TUM chapter featuring Nine and his crew, they already used the nickname to refer to him, and keep in mind this happened when Deku and Bakugou were in highschool much before the expeirment happened

And it kinda makes sense, because in the movie it kinda feel weird that they only refer to his friend as "Nine" as that would be sort of distant and cold if it just was a lab term.

The idea of he using his nickname based on the term Cloud Nine also fits with the bit of info given on Slice character page, in which she comments Nine appreciates quirks more than names or something on those terms. So it would make sense if he prefers base his identity to his weather quirk.

The fact Nine is also the 9th experiment seems to be a fun coincidence in-universe for the lore.

Have you ever thought on names for AFO and Nine?

As sadly canon never gives us something for them, and sometimes feels bad just call them by their nicknames.

I had some ideas for names for them, despite I suck for making names with japanese meanings lol. But I've tried anyway.

For AFO I like the name "Reiichi" as I read it can be interpreted as the "zero" or the one that started everything in the context of the story. And just because it sounds cool and imposing.

For Nine I like give him the name "Yoriichi" which according to some sources it can mean "divine" which is kinda fitting for his character.

Not only that but I like the simple fact that Yoriichi sound like a combination of Reiichi and Yoichi, as you probably know I'm a sucker for the idea of Nine being related to the Shigabros.

And like that all them have names ended with "ichi" how cute.

As a weeb I decided to learn a tiny bit of Japanese…since most mha characters names are somewhat simple and direct translations. For example kaminari is literally just “thunder” but I think adding that to Nine would be too easy imo. However it’s not the first time a character shared a common word in their names weather or not they may be actually related (EX: kendo rappa & itsuka kendo)

I know sora: sky, haiiro: grey, tenki: weather etc etc

I was messing around with the translator and got “雲雷/unrai” which is cloud weather or something in english idk but I’d assume nine would’ve gotten something directly related to his quirk. But maybe his first or last name could be different and be related to the shigaraki’s? …I still want to think they’re related somehow

For afo specifically…I kinda like that his name is a mystery, before he was always seen as some odd mysterious villain. Kinda same for nine but the whole weather manipulation was a part too.

but I guess anything could work now since it’s not like we are ever getting any official confirmation T^T

Speaking seriously, he seem to be a big guy in general not just tall. These panels in particular always give me the feeling he's a very big guy despite not having a physical enhancer quirk.

Also he already got nice muscles despite being homeless (?)
