Tonight Is The First Day Of Hanukkah!!!

Hi, Angela! I ship you with Arthur and I think you would be best friends with Gwaine.

Arthur would completely adore your outgoing, adventurous, and roll-up-the-sleeves attitude. He would find it absolutely intriguing that you are so outgoing despite his status. You two might butt heads occasionally on the subject of whether women can fight or not, but ultimately, you’d show him the truth. I think that your relationship with him would really make him grow as a person and allow him to understand that there is more to the world and its people than he’s been taught. He’d adore your violin playing and would probably try to bring over more musicians to play for you in an effort to impress you. Arthur would try to get you to play the violin for him as often as possible and he would love to look at all of your drawings and sketches. He would also probably have flowers and interesting objects he found brought to you for sketching inspiration. He’d eventually just start bringing you along on any quests that must be undergone because of your brave, tomboyish attitude and your ability to uplift him with your music and drawings. Arthur would be floored by your varied interests and would understand your need for space. In short, I just think you two would be really cute and a generally good couple.

Your closest friend would probably be Gwaine because he shares your outgoing personality and would be at ease in regards to your multifaceted and unexpected interests. He would probably train alongside you and encourage you to pursue your interests. He’d aid you in your efforts to convince Arthur that it’d be great for everyone if you could be included in their travels. I also think that he would respect your appreciation of alone time as he has his quieter moments as well. Gwaine would also think it’s super cool that you play the violin and draw. I SAW “ATOMIC BLONDE” AND OH MY WORD! IT WAS ACTUALLY REASONABLY CLOSE TO THE GRAPHIC NOVEL (some character changes, name changes, and more details added, with a few cut. But otherwise!) AND CAN I PLEASE BE LORRAINE BROUGHTON WHEN I’M A GROWN UP, CHRISTMAS ON A CRACKER, IT WAS GREAT! AND THE F/F RELATIONSHIP WASN’T AS FETISHIZED AS I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE! AND THE ACTION SCENES WERE FANTASTIC! OH! AND THE SOUNDTRACK WAS AMAZING!! THE COSTUMING WAS COOL AS WELL!

(Warning though: the ending is different from the graphic novel and this might annoy you. Otherwise though: 👍 it’s some good stuff.)

In short, this film was spectacular and I want more. Please please PLEASE go see it.

Can we talk about how few reader-inserts there are for specifically male readers? Because, wow.

Live Fast Die Young Bad Girls Do it Well

I went to see Atomic Blonde and I’m having the same kind of bombed out, obsessive reaction of “is this what it’s like to see someone like ME kick ass on screen? is this why men are so confident?” that some of my girlfriends had to Wonder Woman. 

I enjoyed Wonder Woman (other than the disastrous and cheesy 3rd act) but it was really difficult for me to identify with her- she’s naive, idealistic, super heterosexual (for a Patty Jenkins film), largely untouchable/unhurtable, and she’s also honestly kind of dumb: most of the movie is just men telling her not to do something, and she does it anyway, but only succeeds because she’s brute-forcing with DEMI-GOD POWERS in a world of mortals. 

Atomic Blonde on the other hand is about a cynical, world-weary, haunted, non-heteronormative woman who actually has to actively WORK to survive: the stunning action sequences really show how much more effort she has to put in and how much she has to use her brain to survive brutal hand to hand combat with men who are bigger and stronger than her and outnumber her in every single encounter. She takes her licks and they show- the amazingly gorgeous Charlize Theron stumbles around half the movie covered in bruises and scars.

One felt like an action figure and the other felt like a woman like me. I think that Wonder Woman is a great role model for young girls, but Atomic Blonde is a movie for all those women who, like me, have taken their licks and fought tooth and nail in a world of men who actively make it hard for them to succeed at every turn. It’s about fucking time. 

Being BFFs with Peter Quill would include:

- Helping with any and all missions. - Being very close with the rest of the team. - You are often put in charge of watching Groot while he is still young. - Sharing the same taste in music. - You two are definitely both dancers. - Seriously. There's dancing everywhere. - You two sing a lot too. - You and Peter probably get along a bit *too* well and it really irritates the rest of the team. - You don't really tease each other that often. - Unless one of you has a crush. In which case there is a whole lot of teasing. - You both, however, team up to tease the others. - You two are completely honest with each other and won't hesitate to tell the other when they are making a mistake. - You both give each other pretty solid advice. - You purposefully create situations that require Gamora to be alone with Peter. - "Oh! Hi, Gamora! Rocket, Drax, and Groot.... May you guys please come help me with my pistols? They have all jammed and I could use some help figuring out what's wrong." - "Y/N, wait no. Come ba- you know what? Fine." - He finishes your sentences and vice versa. - You two have each other's backs no matter what. - You two actually were outlaws together before the team formed. - Peter and you occasionally have a small argument but you two are quick to move on because you both recognize that the connection between you two is more important than anything else. “Which one?”

“That white guy.”

“The one that acted in that superhero movie.”

“WHICH ONE?”

“The one called Steve.”

“…”

“You know, the one who was a soldier in the World War, rode a motorcycle and sacrificed himself while flying a plane?”

“I NEED YOU TO BE SPECIFIC HERE.”
