Concept: experimental modified time materia brought out in sparring malfunctions somehow and now Zack and the Banora duo have a lil Sephling on their hands

LITTLE SEPH!!!!!! <333 Ahhhh this is glorious!!!

I would love to write this out some day dhdhdhd! I don’t have the full energy rn, but bc it’s such a phenomenal idea, I will try my best with one of my good ol’ fic/synopsis hybrids!

For a long while, everyone just stares, three mouths agape and three eyes struck with lightning. One minute they’re sparring, four swords going at it in at blazing speed. And the next—

“WHAT DID YOU DO, PUPPY?!” Genesis roars, whirling around to face the absolutetively befuddled Zack. See?This is why they don’t invite him to their TRAINING SESSIONS. The squirt was a walking heartbeat of destruction, pop songs, and comically large slip-ups. Nothing ever good happened when he was around.

“Don’t look at me!” Zack tries to defend himself. “All I did was cast Stop!”

Angeal gives a slow, incredulous blink, molasses on his lashes. “You stopped him alright.”

Meanwhile, at their feet, a 3yo Demon of Wutai cocks his head, sitting on his butt, his clothes and armor having conveniently shrunk to fit the size of his regression. Not Masamune though. That thing is abandoned on the floor, unaffected and forgotten.

“…Doc’ors?” Sephiroth blinks, his catlike eyes wide and round and sponging up most of the green in his eyes, his quicksilver hair gushing all the way down to his lap. Who are these people? They’re tall. And big. They aren’t wearing white coats either. One looks strong. One looks like he was ready to explode. One of their heads’ looks like a mop.

Upon hearing him speak, hearing him squeak in his little Seph voice, Zack’s heart completely melts; all his bafflement and paranoia and most likely sense of reality is zapped away as he scoops up the little guy, raising him high in the air Simba-style.

“Ohhh look at you! You’re like a little doll! in ShinRa wear, Seph! Look at those eyes! Those pauldrons! Boop!”

Angeal and Genesis proceed to watch in deadlike silence as Zack boops the little guy’s nose, raising him up and down and up and down and upsy daisy and downsy daffodil. Seph is frozen at first, these gestures completely and utterly alien… but it’s not long before he’s clapping his hands and little giggles are bubbling from his throat. He likes mop head!

“Would you cut that out?!” Genesis roars suddenly—loud enough to startle the poor baby Seph, consequently causing him to start crying in the puppy’s arms. Zack’s face immediately hardens as he hugs Seph close, and now it’s his turn to whirl around in disapproval. Yeah, GENESIS.

“Hey! Be gentle with him!” Zack scolds, little Seph clutching at the fabric of his collar.

“That is Sephiroth, you nimrod! Do you not see the issue here?”

“The issue is that you’re scaring him!”

“He’s… SEPHIROTH.”

Angeal is wondering where the nearest retail shop is hiring.

After some intelligent discussion, baby Seph is brought back to Angeal’s place—just for the time being. And here’s where the fun starts! Everyone needs to chip in! Sephiroth is thirsty, first things first, having been plopped on the couch next to Zack. Zack is scrolling through the educational TV channels as Angeal fishes out a water bottle out from the fridge, walking it over—

“What’s that?”

Angeal stops in his tracks, blinking in surprise. “It’s water,” he explains—how is he supposed to talk to his friend? Like a preschool teacher? Like a therapist?

Seph’s confusion doesn’t fade. “Hojo always give me water in bowl.”

Zack pauses on Blue’s Clues.

…Excuse him?

Seph proceeds to explain that Hojo always gives him water—and, and food—in a little bowl that sounds suspiciously similar to a dog bowl. Angeal is dumbfounded, having to move Seph’s hands to hold the water bottle right while Genesis throws some untasty swears out there (covering his ears ofc). Zack, meanwhile, is floating somewhere between anger and an ache he can’t even pinpoint. All he knows is that he’s suddenly hugging Seph close, squishing his doll-sized leather jacket against his chest. That wasn’t cool, glasses man >:(

Following water break is play time! Zack whips out some crayons and paper to doodle with Seph while Angeal and Genesis prepare dinner—on a plate, thank you. Zack goes on to doodle some very nice pictures~ a giraffe, a river, a flamingo. He’s laughing and telling jokes with baby Seph—mainly ones about a guy name Nemesis, no parallels there—casually glancing over after a while to see—

“Uh, bud… what’s that?”

Seph had doodles what can only be described as a pile of spaghetti—spaghetti that’s green, and had a face, and was dripping slime, and that had a bloody splotch for one of its eyes.

“I see her in dreams sometimes,” Seph says, surprisingly blanched of emotion. “She visits me.”

Aight! Art time’s over!

“SEPHIROTH! GIVE ME BACK MY BOOK!”

No one could have predicted the Zoomies.

It was all going so smoothly…! Seph was pajama-ed, he had his teeth brushed, he was all snug and toasty and ready for bed—!

And he had Genesis’ favorite copy of Loveless. And zipping around the apartment at Mach 5 speed. And bouncing from furniture to furniture. And singing the Blue’s Clues song.

“C’mon, Seph…” Genesis finally corners him, bringing down his voice. “Give it back to your old buddy Genesis.”

“Okie!” Seph chirps, and proceeds to chuck the book with all his prodigious strength, hitting Genesis square in the nose. Bingo! He scored a touchdown!

“Nice shot!” Zack calls from across the room.

It’s bedtime! Angeal and Genesis collapse from exhaustion, Seph settled on the couch with a pillow and blankie. Zack takes an air mattress beside him, having even lent his favorite dragon plushie to the little bean to sleep. He loves it! All is well, the apartment falls silent, the craziness of the day and all its sci-fi stupidity fading away into a blessed oasis of peace.

Until the sobbing starts.

The sound low, dim, stifled… a broken song that is being cracked between Sephiroth’s lips. Zack stirs immediately, shaking the little Seph awake and propping him up. Seph’s eyes are streaked with tears, glistening with beads of Mako-blue as Zack delicately gazes at him. His heart pretzels.

“What’s wrong, little bud…?”

Seph snivels, wiping his tears on Muffin the dragon. “I see her. She’s here. She says I should hurt you. Hurt two guys too.” His sobs break into something louder, splintering, and Zack can’t take it a moment longer; he settles himself on the couch and brings little Seph close, cocooning his arms around him, swaddling him, letting him cry into his chest. He doesn’t move, not an inch. Not even as Seph’s sobs slowly ebb and a faint snore replaces them.

Eventually, the warmth bubbled against him, breathing into him in calm, slow zephyrs, Zack closes his eyes and falls asleep.

Thankfully, in this case, time materia is temporary! Woooo! It’s a very strange when Sephiroth wakes up in Zack’s arms, wearing onesie pajamas and holding a plushie. Very strange indeed.

“Oh…” Zack pulls back, coral flaring on his cheeks. “Hi Sephiroth!”

Sephiroth doesn’t say a word. He just glances down, absorbing the floofy sleepwear, his expression steely as a block of steel.

“Seph—“

“Don’t.” Sephiroth says, straightening, stepping over his sleeping best friends as he makes his way to the door.

Bestie! Solomon back at it again

MC: *giggles*

Solomon: *laughs* This is gonna be awesome.

MC: Oh, yeah, definitely.

Lucifer: *happens to walk past* ?!

Solomon: Oh, hey, Lucifer.

MC: Hello.

Lucifer: *quickly confiscates the magic potion bottle from Solomon, knowing it's a concoction that can melt anything and anyone* What do you think you're doing with this?! This is an extremely dangerous potion!

Solomon: Yeah, I know.

Lucifer: Of course, you know! MC doesn't-

MC: I know.

Lucifer: ...excuse me?

MC: I know.

Lucifer: Yes, I heard you! I just want to know why in the Devildom you're willing to use this potion knowing it could melt your skin in just a drop?!

MC: *shrugs*

Lucifer: You're- *frustrated sigh* unbelievable.

Solomon: Shh, shh, let them be. I'm here *smiles 'innocently'*

Lucifer: ...no. I'm taking this with me *walks away*

MC: *sad*

Solomon: Don't worry, MC *pulls out a small vial from his pocket with an evil smirk* I always have a backup plan after all.

MC: *evil smirk* This is why we're besties.

In the student council room...

Lucifer: *tired sigh* Can we pick another human?

Diavolo: Oh, but why? They're very entertaining so far. Don't you agree, Barbatos?

Barbatos: *smiles* Yes, Young Master.

Lucifer: You're only agreeing because you have to.

Somewhere outside: *terrified screams, glass smashing, sounds of fire crackling that causes the school's water sprinkler to activate and evil laughter*

The royals: ....

Diavolo: *laughs* It seems that I've brought the right human!

Lucifer: Diavolo!

I love this idea about humans differences but that doesn't mean I still have faith in humanity

The particularity of humans

Yo ! Soooo it is often said that compared to demons and angels, humans are weak but there are some aspects in which human can succeed that the other species can’t ! I have an whole ass essay to do, a whole ass book to read but here i am bc imma a dumb bitch

The instinct

Of course demon and angels have instinct, in fact I believe that every living creautre has one. However the human instinct is particular. Where demons are guided by sin and angels by virtue, the human instinct is sharper and general. Like, even without being intimidated by pheromones/ aura or whatever, humans are the best to tell someone appart. They just know when the demon standing in front of them isn’t reliable. Even though their facade is joyful and authentic. They know better when someone is lying ect. A another thing about instinct : the hunch. Compared to demons and angels, even though every human doesn’t necessarily have access to the magic they have a sense of premonition. 

Did you ever wake up with the feeling that something bad will happen during the day and it actually happens? Or put yourself in a situation that appeared normal but you knew that something bad will occur and it did?

That’s the human instinct. Something that the human naturally developed to compensate their “inferiority” to other species.

The pheromones

 Humans emit pheromones just like angels and demons do. However, the purpose isn’t the same at all. For instance, Asmo uses his to seduce people, Lucifer does it to intimidate, Simeon might use it to soothe people when they’re down ect. They all are conscious when they use their pheromones whereas humans aren’t. Humans often don’t know when they exude strong pheromones. I hc that they genuinely let them out when they’re with someone they like, happy, etc (and naturally, when having strong emotion). They also use them as greeting.

Just picture Levi and Mammon being jealous or a surprised Satan when Solomon comes to visit the house of lamentation and both of you instinctively mix your pheromones 👀👀 Hoes mad but they can say anything because none of you are aware of what you’re doing

Also, humans pheromones have a more social use than the other. Other races study the fact that humans can only function in pack. Meaning that they’re at their best when they are together. Therefore, if a human is very angry, their fellow human will share that anger. Thus, even though MC can be closer to the bros than with Solomon, if they or he is angry or sad, they’ll empathize better with each other than with other species.

Imagine : it’s canon that Solomon fears Lucifer, but what if MC was angry against the firstborn and that Sol tried to step up between the two ? It already happened in the game but the sorcerer eventually backed down. So what if this time he interferes and doesn’t leave when asked to ? Lucifer is about to beat him up until he sees Sol’s pheromones enveloping yours, meaning that he went too far. 👀👀👀

The bond

As I just stated, humans are pack creatures. They can function individually but are better in groups. This is a strength because demons are egotistical beings. You may have noticed that when facing a problem, the brothers rarely consult each other. Also, even in the game, Belphie called Diavolo out several times because the demon prince often acts on an impulse, without asking for other’s opinions. The fact that demons are so self-centered is a weakness because by living with their own they do not share things with the people around them. Thus, they do not have the opportunity to create that bond. In the game, the only bonds among demons visible are the ones Beel and Belphie share. We can’t even talk about Lucifer and Dia because well, lessons 30 to 38 👀👀. I believe that Luke and Simeon share a bond because Simeon, in addition to being Luke’s legal representative, is always looking after him and the same thing goes around (even though angels are not self-centered I still perceive them as secretive though). The other bond that we can see in the game are human+demon.

Now about humans. Humans, in general, are social creatures. Thus, creating a bond is something they instinctively do. The brothers are tied because well there are brothers. Whereas humans do not need a special attachment to the person as they unconsciously aim for the preservation of the race. Solomon, as secretive and shady as he might be, is always looking out for MC, even though he didn’t know them before the program. If I remember well, at the beginning of the game said that humans got to stick together. Because that’s their nature. Therefore, the bond is important bc :

The more brain we’ve got, the easier you can find a solution

The more you are, the powerful you can become

Also, the bond allows you to know better the other, you can almost feel them. Know when the other is not doing well and stuff

I also hc that human can pick up really fast on body language because they are used to look for each other (spoiler of the episode in the cave: this is why MC kept an eye on Solomon)

Human souls are more powerful than others

And that’s on what? That’s on PERIODT. Do the Celestial Realm and the Devildom even make sense without humans? There can’t be good or evil without anything to balance the two. Humans are valuable tools because they’ll either add number in paradise or hell. Thus, when harvesting, human are not only tastier but the more the human was evil or good, the more powerful the realm will become.

The feelings bro

Demons are guided by their sin. Angels by virtue and human by none of them. They can experience heavy negative feelings but the same goes around for the better ones. Why is this an advantage? I don’t know lol. However, I believe that if you’re a sorcerer your magic can be stronger bc of that. You’re not limited by the rules of the sky nor by the underground ones so that only leaves a greater room for your power.

The determination

Demons think that humans are weak and stupid because they are only driven by their emotion. Like, they could endanger themselves and risk their lives just for pride or love where other species have a precise goal. I believe that the human determination is something that demons can’t understand. Also, just like emotions, the determination humans testify makes them stronger. However, because of this determination, they can easily be corrupted as they might tend to blind themselves with it.

Human attraction

There is something about the human that makes other species crave for them. There’s the value of their souls, yes but they may also exude something else that makes others want to involve themselves with them. Out out of the people living in the Celestial Realm, why did Lilith fell for a human? The brothers too have lived for like millennials. And as soon as they were in contact with a human they found themselves tending to them. This may make it easier for a human to get what they want, by manipulating or just using this charm of their.

I’m know I’m not the first person to say this, but any newbies on tumblr really need to understand how different this is from a lot of other social media. Particularly tiktok.

I just saw a creator on tiktok reminding followers that it’s actually a problem when someone goes back to the earliest post and watches all the posts chronologically, liking and commenting along the way. The stupid app recognizes it as spam or something and then kinda puts a halt on their account? Literally punishing people for positive engagement?? 🥴🤦‍♀️

I’ve already heard people saying years back how they don’t want to be “creepy” and go through a persons blog, liking and reblogging tons of stuff. But think how many more people are going to be worried about it now, thinking they might do actual damage! Most people, especially younger people, are so used to the way tiktok works now. So please, do not ever worry about this on here. Just remember-

You will never do any harm if you go on a like and reblog fest through someone’s tumblr blog! The only risk you’re taking is to make the blog owner weep for joy!! 😭🤣
