(I’m doing western types, nothing asian bc they are super small and like ponies lol)

The breeds I’ve chosen are supposed to be a bit more medieval like and historically accurate.

Btw, plz don’t just pick the Friesian because they’re black. A black horse would probably suit Aku better, but just remember that other breeds can also be black lol

(Btw ignore the fact that Adalusian and Iberian horse is basically the same thing. Idk what I was thinking.)

I maaay have drawn some other sketches of Akutagawa as Ashitaka…. And I might share them soon…

What if Akutagawa was like Ashitaka, but he rode a horse instead of a red elk?? Just me?? Ok I’ll shut up now….

I kept seeing chart things like this and decided to try it myself. Honestly, it was really tempting to put Akutagawa on all of them…

I actually have quite a few current favourites, but I decided to go with Vaati because I don’t draw his Hylian form nearly as much as I would like. ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

Something that will help a lot is practicing drawing one part of a horse. Starting with simple head studies is a good example and may help to build confidence. By breaking a horses body down into shapes, it becomes easier to understand and ‘copy’ the shapes and lines.

One thing I get used to get stuck on all the time was added too much detail. Now, I only draw what is most prominent for a horse, ignoring all those tiny, unnecessary details.

Drawing in the manga-like style is about simplicity to a point. It is not called realism for a reason! (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵) The goal is to be able to draw the same character over and over again efficiently and with less stress to the artist. The same can be said for drawing horses, in a way.
