you had been on your own since you where 16, your partner (a friend that you had been friends with since birth) getting bitten leaving you alone.

you where once in a group, a not very nice group. that’s why you and your friend had up and left when you where old enough to make decisions for yourselves.

you had never gotten an education, the slightest advancement to what you had in your old group was a shock. when you saw a simple working lightbulb for the first time it was like the world had stopped spinning

when you came to jackson, it’s safe to say everything came as a shock.

ellie latched onto you, freshly turned eighteen acting as if nothing surrounding her was normal. it wasn’t normal, not for you anyway.

she was there when you first saw a shower, arriving to jackson covered in dirt and grime maria had instructed the girl to take you to the communal showers

“it’s like a fucking mini waterfall” you watched with slight amazement in your eyes. the only way of bathing before being in lakes and oceans.

don’t even get me started about food. you where living off wild berries and whatever animal you could hunt. being so young, it was usually just rabbit so when a bowl of soup was placed in front of you, the meat being deer. you swore time had stopped

ellie watched with a smile as you dug in, a grin on your face.

people gave you odd looks for a while but ellie always brushed them off, giving them the finger or a glare.

due to your unexpected arrival, they had no where to house you originally. ellie was quick to offer you her bed and she would take the couch

you immediately changed into the shorts and hoodie that ellie had leant you and jumped onto the bed. ellie chuckled at your behaviour

the two of you ended the night talking, passing out in the same bed.

over time, ellie got used to your antics. purposely finding things she knows you’ve never seen before just to watch you get all giddy

but things are also the same wh ellie sees you practicing your archery. a skill that came easy to you

no she’d literally be watching like :0 as you hit a bullseye. heart eyes.

let’s say your both at a party, everyone living in jackson was there and you started panicking because there where too many people.

ellie would know instantly. the tap of your foot and the way to twiddled your thumbs together as ellie spoke with dina and jesse.

she would excuse the two of you, gently grabbing your hand and pulling you outside the hall. the both of you standing in the empty alleyway, music and chatter now a distant sound.

“how you feeling pretty girl” “it’s okay just let me know if you want to go home and we can go” “just breathe lover, im right here”

when you were calmed down, your hands no longer shaking. the two of you walked back inside. your right hand in ellie’s left as you walked a bit behind her. staying as close as possible

ellie would go back to taking with her friends whilst you stood beside her. hand still in hers as you pressed your face against her arm, fiddling with the fabric of her favourite blue flannel.

even though you weren’t talking much, you’d still add comments into the conversation as ellie’s thumb rubbed against the back of your hand.

when ellie stood by the bar with joel, sipping on her drink. you would stand behind her, arms around her waist and face smushed against her back as you looked anywhere but at the people around you

joel greeted you with a smile which you reciprocated. you loved joel and ellie loved how you got on so well with him

at some point during ellie and joel’s conversation, you had weaved your way in front of ellie. one of her hands firm on your waist as your back pressed against her front so you could also converse with the man.

at some point during the night, dina managed to get you out of your shell. the pair of you dancing in the middle of the hall. a cheesy grin on your face as dina twirled you

ellie absolutely adored the way you clung to her in public but loved it even more when she watches you have such a carefree moment with one of your best friends

when dina finally allows you to go back to ellie. your stood beside the girl with a smile, instantly joining whatever conversation they where having as you held her hand.

you’d trace ellie’s tattoo when you start getting antsy and nervous around people

and at the end of the night, you’d go back to ellie’s. falling asleep whilst ellie mumbled everything she loved about you

starting off, ellie would introduce you as ‘the mrs’ or ‘my wife WHEREVER you go. i mean everyone, would hear those words whenever your in view

“oh look there’s the mrs now” or “there’s my wife”

quite nights in with gf!ellie >>>

she’d 100% play guitar and hum songs when you’ve had a long day and need sleep

couldn’t believe you actually agreed to go out with her originally, she genuinely thought you where straight until you blabbed about your ex girlfriend one night

will drag you everywhere with her. seriously if this woman needs a piss at 3 in the morning you best believe she is waking you up just so she can use the toilet while you stand lazily by the door

VERY protective over you, im not joking. if your on patrol together, she’ll always be behind you so nothing can jump at you without you realising

she tries not to let you kill anything, whether it’s infected or raiders but when you do team up to kill a large group of infected. your an undeniably good team.

ellie will (and this isn’t up for discussion) always talk through arguments. there is no going to bed angry with ellie as a girlfriend. everything is sorted within the hour.

you two are the centre of attention at Jackson parties. not only because your one of the few lesbian couples there but because after a few drinks, you both get quite handsy and dance carelessly together

the first kiss with ellie definitely happened randomly. maybe you were making food and ellie just walks in, grabs your face and kisses you.

you where the first to say ‘i love you’ because ellie was scared that admitting it aloud would be stupid. everyone she has loved before, had died.

it would be a cute moment though. just imagine sitting on the couch with ellie whilst she plays the guitar. your just admiring her with a smile as she strums chords and puts together a little tune.

you just couldn’t help but blurt out those three words. ellie’s movements stilled as she looked up at you, her eyes wide and her mouth open

she will so casually pull one of these after you say what you said

you knew she wouldn’t say it back but once she composed herself she just gives you a smile and grabs your hand, bringing your knuckles up to her lips

it would take her a while to say it back. it would probably be after either you or her get injured pretty badly.

speaking of injuries, she wouldn’t let you touch a single wound. ellie would clean and dress them while you just sit there watching her with an amused smile

sometimes, ellie would get on your nerves with how late she has a tendency to stay up to. you’ll be in bed and you’ll hear ellie screaming at the tv (either at a game or a film). knowing she got into bed with you at eleven, you checked the clock and saw it was 2am

if ellie wakes up before you (which is incredibly rare) she’ll bring you whatever food was being served in the dining hall and a coffee for you to have breakfast in bed.
