Maybe it’s because I’m older and burnt out on dating but these two have one of the most refreshing romances I’ve read in a while. Instead of a dramatic, over the top romance against great odds, we just have two people who have decided to become partners. He respects her, doesn’t ask her to change and understands how important her friends are to her. I feel like Kiki respects Hisame’s logic as strategy and his overall relaxed personality (compared to Mitsuhide). I think they show that choosing to love someone is just as beautiful and romantic as accidentally falling in love.
I was really upset with Mitsuhide for rejecting Kiki and thought it was a terrible move for the story. But not only was it a decision that made sense for Mitsuhide’s character, but it opens us up to see that there are different types of relationships and that they can all be good.
I'm ready to leave this messed up world and jump into fantasy land. Who's with me?
