cmon child safety lid you know it's me
i love wikipedia and i think it is good and right to give them money but all their funding drive messages are “well… we’ll be killing ourselves tonight. we asked so little of you and yet it seems that simply nobody cares about lil ol wikipedia anymore….sad…”
In one of my ADHD groups, a question about motivation and inability to start came up. This is one of the comments:
"Mel Robbins (who is also ADHD) talks about 54321-go. She wrote a whole book on it, but its mainly as soon as you think of something or have / want to do something, you count down from 5 to 1 then MOVE YOUR BODY TOWARDS WHAT EVER IT IS YOU NEED TO DO before your brain can talk you out of it. There loads of neuroscience why this works and before I was diagnosed I used this technique all the time. From getting out of bed, to getting a shower, to reading, stopping scrolling, stopping watching tv to literally everything if I needed to. I still do. It really helps me. And like you say, once you get started its okay, and then the dopamine kicks in. She did a talk on it, I think if you google it will come up. Also, tyrosine and theanine is good for me too. Hope this helps."

I looked it up and I'm going to try it.

often the choice comes down to eat a meal and shower or kill yourself
Having a body is the true horror, no?
yeah as soon as I wake up no longer fatigued for the first time in my life I'll be set
I'd like to introduce everyone to this horrid thing I created about a year ago but haven't shown many people yet (probably for the best).
This is Baby. AKA The Monster. AKA Sight Tremendous and Abhorred, AKA Vile Insect, AKA A Thing Such As Even Dante Could Not Have Conceived, etc, etc. It's made from bits of scrap fabric I scrounged from various sources and is roughly the size of a human toddler. Its design is based on Mary Shelly's original descriptions of Frankenstein's creature.
But that's not all! Behold!
You can dissect this little abomination to reveal a full set of crocheted, knitted, and scrap fabric organs, all hand-stitched by yours truly!
It has a heart, stomach, lungs, liver, small and large intestine, kidneys, bladder, and, of course, a brain! So it can ponder the horrors of its own existence!
I used this pattern by Less Than Three for the heart. I ended up felting it because I screwed up most of the stitches (I was relatively new to crochet at the time). The result was a bit of a blobby mess, but oh well.
So yeah. This thing lives in my house now (my family hates it). I have yet to reap the full consequences of my hubris.
Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes?
Actually, hating kids is actively harmful whether you think you're subtle about it or not. I was one of those annoying, loud, attention-seeking kids, and I knew instinctively when adults/teenagers hated me (and kids in general), and all it did was convince me that I couldn't tell any adults about the abuse I was experiencing at home because they wouldn't care or listen to me. Once again I am saying there is no good reason to hate all children, and if you do then you need to actively work on that because you share society and public spaces with children so the odds of you having to interact with them at some point are very high, and they don't need to internalize your weird hang-ups just because you refuse to get over yourself. Kids are at the mercy of adults and the adult world around them. You do not have to make growing up any harder than it already is.
Now that TV has woken up to romance series a la Bridgerton, I'm pro a The Wallflowers series
Pros:
It's Victorian so no empire waist dresses (no offense to the bridgerton costume department they did an excellent job i just hate regency)
Shorter series so it's easier to cast. There's only 4 wallflowers but the way the books tie in it could be extended to other couples based on popularity
Scene variety! There's Westcliff's estate, the foundry, Paris, Scotland, the casino, probably London at some point
Higher stakes! People almost die! There's more drama in the books so the show wouldn't have to make up as much drama (looking at you, Marina)
Only two characters are related so it would be easier to add diversity. Pretty much no one has to be white (though if Lillian is white, sebastian also has to be white. That plotline can get messy)
Cons
There's no way they'll cast Simon Hunt correctly
