Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.

Alright guys, let’s talk fae (the Celtic version).
There’s a terribly common misconception of what fae/fairy (and pixies) really means. On screen and sometimes even in books fairies are mistakenly shown to be those little winged creatures described as mischievous if not evil. That’s false. Those are actually pixies. The actual Fae (faerie, later fairy) are the mysterious nature spirits possessing magical powers, who look human-like but can also temporarily take up various smaller sizes upon choice.
But where do the Fae start? From the myths and folklore of the ancient Celts. The gods and goddesses of the Celts were many in number, and many unknown, but they were regarded with reverence, as having power and purpose, with various functions in the natural world. These gods were the Tuatha de Dannan, the people of Danu.
But with the arrival of Christianity, this changed, like most Celtic (and other non-Celtic) concepts. They were altered in meaning. Gods and deities of the old pagan ways were demoted to “fairy folk”, to heroes and remorseful warriors that change their faith, to lessen their power. Their pedestal of godhood and aura of mystery was strategically erased. They became enchanters, sorcerers, which obviously had evil connotations in Christian perception. In Daemonologie, King James associated fairies with demonic entities. Eventually even this imagery of the magical enchanters was further demoted to what is now most commonly known as that of the pixies: in other words, something small, harmless, powerless, a troublesome spirit that nobody cares to bother with anymore.
So in this sense, fae/faerie/faery refers to the ancient idea of what they stood for, the original one (gods, Tuatha de Dannan, powerful magical spirits); whereas fairy is the more modern one mistaken for pixies (small, harmless, mischievous).
Maybe this therapy shit is working
Odysseus: How many suitors are there? Servant: 128. Though, twenty of them formed a guard, after Antinous turned out to be a dick. Odysseus: *Thinking* Servant: Ten are away with the prince, the other ten are keeping guard over Penelope. Odysseus: Why? Servant: They're being bodyguards Odysseus: No, why did they come if they're not seeking the Queen's hand? Servant: Oh, they're trying to convince the Prince to marry their daughters. *Meanwhile* Guard #1: *Watching Telemachus with one of his friends* I'm starting to think the Prince might be swinging the other way. Guard #2: That's alright, I've got a son.
Witches and sorcerers casting spells together on Halloween. How wholesome.
Marvel has such great potential in STRANGE ACADEMY. A live-action or animated adaptation alone could be a huge win, whether it closely follows the comics or not, as long as they give us the diverse, inclusive stories that JK Rowling's Wizarding World fails to.
Strange Academy's diversity is a central feature, not an "exotic" aside. It unites people across various cultures, so you see Norse runic magic, Voodoo practice, Aztec nahual lore & more, performed not just by fictional creatures, but women, people w/ melanin & LGBTQ ppl.
Strange Academy's headmaster is Dr. Jericho Drumm aka Doctor Voodoo & various fan favorites act as instructors to the young mages, to humorous effect: Wong, the Ancient One, Magik, Scarlet Witch, Nico Minoru, Agatha Harkness, Talisman, Daimon Hellstrom, etc
Strange Academy's prominent students INCLUDE:
-Zoe Laveau (zombie/necromancer/aspiring lich? & descendant of Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau)
-Germán (Nahual animal mage)
-Iric & Alvi (Asgardian twin sons of Amora the Enchantress)
-Emily Bright (newcomer on an interesting path)
-Doyle (nbd, just a son of The Dread Dormammu™)
Strange Academy is set here in the United States, not another dimension or some other fictional locale; specifically, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
You get plenty of charismatic flavor & mystic color, whether you're reading about the mortal or mystical aspects of magical school life.
Rather than typical YA-style focus on a singular "chosen one" & companions, Strange Academy offers engaging ensemble narration that addresses multiple story lines w/ due respect, all while managing to offer impressively dynamic & flamboyant magical feats.
In short, if you're a fan of Marvel, a fan of magic users & a fan of YA stories that AREN'T transphobic or otherwise characterized by bigotry (whether implicit or overtly stated), you might want to set aside any...other options, in favor of Strange Academy. 😌
Are there any other LO-critical projects like LR?? Doesn’t have to be comics, I like fanfic(critic-fic?) too, I’ve been really interested in reading stuff like LR
Sure is! The list I have here are just the ones I know of, there are definitely more out there if you browse the #antiLO #lo critical tags or filter your searches on fanfic sites like AO3, but I hope this gives you a good start into finding more works that scratch that itch!
Lore Asgard (AO3) - Briefly in the original LO, Persephone jokes about running off to the Norse Pantheon; Lore Asgard is what would have happened if she actually went through with it.
Lore Mictlan (AO3) - Also plays with the question of "what if Persephone ran off to the Norse Pantheon", but instead she winds up in the realm of the Aztec gods.
Pomegranmints (AO3) - Re-imagines the plot of LO if Persephone and Minthe kissed instead of fighting over Hades ٩(♡ε♡)۶
Survive the Night (Tumblr) - Not sure how long this project is planned to be but it's basically a re-imagining of LO that further explores all the deeply-rooted issues of Hades and Minthe's relationship. Very tense and emotionally raw dialogue scenes, Minthe gets a lot more agency and character exploration here.
Desire for Peace (Webtoon) - Though it's an entirely unique work separate from LO (it's not a fan comic or retelling), the creator was compelled by a distaste towards modern Greek myth retellings to create their own Greek myth comic, starring Ares as the main protagonist. It has both beautiful and unique art, and it presents a writing style that isn't as watered down and simplified as so many popular commercial Greek myth retellings tend to be. The creator is very cool and has done an amazing job at creating a true Greek myth retelling comic, without all the bells and whistles and crutches of "modernizing" the stories.
Theia Mania - Also not at all related to LO, it's just a great comic series that covers all sorts of different myths and tales, but it's most famously known for its ongoing retelling of Hades and Persephone in Queen of the Dead. Like the creator of Desire for Peace, the creator of Theia Mania is someone who Gives a Shit™️ about the source material they're writing about and does a great job at both presenting the culture of Ancient Greece at the time (so again, no modern 2000's stuff here) but also putting some of their own unique twists on an old tale. And the best part? No Demeter scapegoating to be found here <3
Lore Valhalla (Youtube/Patreon) - A brief one-shot that remakes the first episode of Lore Olympus, but with Norse gods instead of Greek. This isn't an ongoing series, just a fun project that Youtuber Crown Obsidian challenged himself to make after he read (and did not particularly enjoy) Lore Olympus.
Just an FYI. The FDA is not allowed to announce any food recalls due to the health communications pause the current administration enacted. You can still find this information by visiting USDA the site directly.
https://www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls
Here’s the fda link to use to search for recalls, safety alerts, and market withdrawals.

So, while you are making your grocery list, you may want to visit the recalls list since there’s no public communication right now.
Edward: Yeah, now Jonathan probably hates me. I bet he’ll just shoot me if he ever sees me again
Waylon: Oh man that’s really tough, sorry for interrupting your breakup by the way
Edward: Excuse me?
Waylon: what?
Edward: It was’t a breakup
Waylon: So you’re still together?
Edward: We aren’t and weren’t dating, Waylon

Seeing how alot of the fanon avians kinda have also become test tube babies (experiment aus/theories), I like to think they just don't have some instincts and features a normal avian would have
-and this gives Phil, the resident canon crow, really bad uncanny valley. At first he writes it off as the others being other types of birds.
But then he finds out the others can't chirp or don't know how to preen-- he gets really suspicious. Phil writes it off with the fact they forget memories from before the island, yet it still unsettles him.
Its like a wolf seeing a domesticated dog, like a weird mockery of yourself.
There are three types of avian
Lesser Avian - Don't have wings - Sometimes have feathers or bird legs, but not necessary - Can either have bird tails, or long tails with feathers on them, or no tail at all Common Avian - Always have wings, wings are often small, but can grow with age - Always have some sort of feathering and tail Greater Avian - Large wings, feathers, and tail - Can be born as Common, but grow into Greater with age - Can speak in Chirp (bird language) Examples in dsmp and qsmp
Lesser Avian - c!Tommy, no tail, no feathers. Chicken - q!Forever, no tail, feathers behind ears, on legs, arms, and sides. Duck - c!Wilbur, no tail, small bits of feathering across body. Eurasian Jay
Common Avian - q!Quackity, bird tail, small wings, feathers behind ears, and spread across body. Duck - c!Quackity, bird tail, small wings. Duck - q!Wilbur, long tail, medium wings. Bluejay - q!Baghera, bird tail, small wings, lots of feather across body, esp on arms, neck, and legs. Duck - q!Jaiden, bird tail, medium wings. Green-Cheeked conure
Greater Avian - c!Philza, bird tail, large wings, crow - q!Philza, bird tail, large wings, crow

“Boy, I thought you were afraid of the mugger. But we found what you were really afraid of, didn’t we Brucie? You’re afraid you disappointed them. You’re afraid you’ve dishonoured them. And you’re right, Brucie. It’s kinda funny when you think about it. Ever since that night in the alley, you’ve been trying to do right by old mom and dad. To be the justice they never got. But get this: your entire life’s work, all it’s done? Is turn you into something your parents could never love.”
I went back and reread this issue, and I thought this scene was really interesting. Thanks to an experiment carried out by another criminal scientist working with Crane, the entire city of Gotham is crippled by horrible nightmares in which they see the Scarecrow. These nightmares bring forth a deep-seeded phobia of Scarecrow’s silhouette, and the effect lasts even in daylight, allowing The Scarecrow to to terrorize the city simply by walking the streets.
Scarecrow wreaks havoc across Gotham, and he’s only naturalized once Batman unmasks him in front of the terrified crowd. Without that mask, he can no longer cast forth his nightmare-inducing silhouette. The crowd of onlookers are no longer afraid, and they ambush the Scarecrow. Think about that
Look at his face, he’s stricken with terror. He plan has failed and he’s lost. Crane wants nothing more then to be seen as a horrifying phantom, a beast that no one can fight back against, but under the mask? He’s afraid.
