Humanity, at its core, is nothing special. We can parade our wealth around and try desperately to establish ourselves as superior to another, we can build big empires and companies and technology our ancestors couldn't have even thought of, we can fight over religion and race and class and sexuality, we can strive to study and excel at a hundred things just to prove we were here, just to prove we did something.
Even so, at the end of the day what stays is the mundane. Handprints left behind on cave walls, finding two people who loved each other so much they were buried next to each other, films and paintings and music and poetry and myths and stories that someone poured their heart and life experiences into, everything that has been shaped into existence in the quiet spaces that hide below our bustling lives. Everything that doesn't just say I was here, but that I was here and I was just like you. That is what remains, that is what touches the hearts of those who are here and those who will be here years from now.
Humanity, at its core, is nothing special. And that is exactly what makes it so special.
