How to watch INFINITY TRAIN (and a whole bunch of other great shows, movies, and anime) on HBO Max OUTSIDE OF THE US

This is a somewhat complicated process so this going to be quite a long post, but bear with me folks. (Intercut with gifs for us with poor attention span.)

Also American pals, I’d appreciate if you gave this a look as well as we could use your assistance.

image

I’m no anti-piracy advocate but with Infinity Train in danger of cancellation us fans outside of the US have been clamouring for a way to support the show. Getting access to HBO Max hasn’t been easy, but I’ve finally managed it! Here’s how I did;

HBO Max is region-locked outside of America so normally you can’t access even the site. In order to bypass this you need a VPN with a proxy. Now, VPNs and the actual usefulness of the service they advertise is a bit of a thorny subject that I don’t claim to be an expert in, but it is the most convenient option for accessing region-locked content. I will note that I attempted to access HBO Max with all major trusted free web proxies, and none worked.

image

Now, VPNs cost money, but fortunately many of them are offering discounts and special offers through YouTube sponsorships. The one I use is Surfshark, which is often considered the most affordable good VPN out there. For a deal of €1.5 per month for 24 months + 3 free months, with a 30 day money back guarantee, check out this video and follow the link in the description. Surfshark is also available on unlimited devices, so you can share it if you wish.

Sidenote; In case you were wondering, VPNs are perfectly legal, so you don’t have to worry about that.

image

Once you have the VPN you just have to connect to a region in the US. You may have to reload the site or close the window and enter again in order for it to work. I have not tried everything that does and does not work, but in order to get access to HBO Max I had to download Surfshark for Windows. To be totally sure I also have the Surfshark Chrome extension, with both connected to the same area. With this you can get access to HBO Max as well as other region-locked sites, articles, YouTube videos etc., so don’t feel like you’re just throwing your money away for just the one thing.

image

Now that you’ve gotten access to HBO Max comes the problem that the site probably won’t accept your credit card. That is because they only accept payments from banks established in the US. Here comes the trickiest part, and the part where you American pals come in; you need someone in the US to buy a card for an online purchase. If you have a friend or aquaintance in the US, ask them for help. If you live in the US and are willing to lend a hand, we would be very grateful. I was graciously helped by @shadowthewerehog, so I’ll let them explain it better:

The card was basically a gift card you can use like a debit card. I’m not sure where else they sell them but grocery stores have them. And I think they can be both visa or master cards. They’ll have like 25-500 as the option and you put what amount you want on it plus the fee. The one I bought is a one time thing and I don’t think it’s reloadable. Also I believe with the card you’ve got to register it with a name and address to do online purchases

Not all parts of the US have the same grocery chains but the place I bought mine was Kroger. I’m pretty sure you can also get them at Walmart and Target tho and they have those all over the US

image

The fee for the card itself was $5, so that’s unfortunately another extra little expense for us non-americans. But they were able to buy a card and register an HBO Max account using a name and an email adress I sent them, they sent me the password and I was able to log in, and I sent them the money for the card and the subscription via PayPal. And Voilà! Obviously this requires a bit of trust in the handling of money and personal information, so discretion advised.

Now, without trying to sound too much like a salesperson, with HBO Max you now have full access to stuff like;

Cartoon Network

Adventure Time: Distant Lands

The Amazing World of Gumball

Ben 10

Craig of the Creek

Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends

And this plus a library of movies and series from classic to modern

It’s a shame that us non-americans should have to jump through so many hoops in order to support the things we like on a platform that’s supposed to increase accessibility, but i hope I have at least made some of you consider giving it a shot. Now HBO Max will be made available worldwide eventually, but the expected release dates are very vague if not non-existent. Me personally, I really don’t want Infinity Train to get cancelled so I’m putting some extra money out there.

If you’ve got questions or things to add, please do.

Thanks again to @shadowthewerehog for helping me out.

Good luck!

It's about a young Maori boy who gets adopted by a couple in the New Zealand countryside. He and his grumpy adoptive uncle end up stuck and declared missing in the bushlands. This causes a national manhunt, and we then follow them as they run away from police and child protective services. It's a really funny and heartwarming film. It's like, really comfy. But also sad, but also happy at the same time. It's nice for when you just kinda want to be a bit sad, but it still leaves you feeling warm and hopeful.

(For the movie ask) Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Never seen. I haven't heard of it. Enlighten me.
