A slightly aged up version of my Billy Batson design‼️⚡️
In my first story where I go over his origins he’s 14 just a couple months out from turning 15. But after I’m done with that I would like to do a continuation story where there is a small time jump where we follow the siblings about two years after the events of their origin stories.
Although, with this new design I realize I’m gonna have to take another swing at my Freddy design and update him to be more aligned with this version of Billy.
But yeah I figured as time passes he probably ends up giving up his side bang fringe situation for more of a “pushed back” hairstyle that he just lets kinda fall off the side of his head, and also I gave him a varsity jacket! Some might assume he got his from playing sports however, I like to think it would be a gift from one of the Vasquez’s siblings! :D
I realize to some this new look might kinda fit the vibe of the “high school bully/jock” stereotype character, but rest assured he is NOT. When he is older he’s been doing his Captain Marvel/Shazam thing for a couple years now, and those years of experience have helped him grow both more compassionate and protective of those around him. He’s grown a lot more comfortable in his own skin and in his home as well, making him more expressive and playful as he picks up on some of his siblings quirks.

Concept art I’m working on for Tawny and The Wizard. I wanted to make the Wizard a little more unconventional than a regular Wizard, I added a bell to the end of his hat and some dangling stars from the brim, just to try out something fresh. I also was trying to work on a full body outfit for him and decided he would probably do most of his wizard work in pajamas because he’s chill like that.
Also, just a side note the green sticky notes covering some of the words on the page aren’t like “hidden lore” or anything like that, I’m just dyslexic lol.
Anyways below is a w.i.p of his full-body outfit, so yeah! I know the line art looks completed but I might shift around a few mornings before I move onto colors. I always make 2-3 rounds of line art before I settle on something lol. ⚡️✨🪄💕🌿🐅
You know despite not even drawing Shazam for a year yet, my character designs still go through constant little tweaks and edits. I’m trying really hard on trying to draw form & 3D shapes right now though, and that’s causing some technical issues when I draw Billy’s hair,,, I’ll have to study up on some comics or something haha,,,
Anyways, enjoy! ~✨❤️⚡️

Hello! Here is the chapter index for my original Shazam story, called Shazam! City of Brotherly Love. This is the chapter list for the screenplay version of the story.
This is the intended way the story is meant to be read. However, if you would rather read the 3rd person rewrite that link is here.

Work in progress for my Shazam story. ⚡️
This is a scene towards the start of the story, right after the prologue actually. It’s the scene where Billy’s social worker is trying to explain to him that she’s running out of foster homes for him to go to and is trying to get him to behave.
These are very quick sketches however, I think it’s probably for the best because one of the hardest things for me to learn is how to incorporate storytelling into my art lol. Which is funny because I enjoy both writing and drawing. So yeah,,,,
But anyways,, again not really sure how I want to tell this story? Like at first I was set on a screenplay for sure, but then I was like,,, maybe I should just write it as a fanfic? Because I’ve had nights where I’ve written 8,000 words in one night,,,, but those are rare. But ALSO also I really do enjoy the visual aspects of a comic,,,, but a comic would for sure take me the longest and require the most focus,,,,
I’m still not sure at this point, but I guess I’ll have to decide soon if I want people to eventually be able to enjoy my take on Billy Batson’s origin story,,,,,
Also please excuse any typos it is 1AM for me while I’m working on this LOL
Anyways thank you byeeee~ ✨
The colors on my iPad look janky as hell as I draw this 💀 but I wanted to draw another quick exploration drawing for my Shazam “powers of living lightning” concept thingy. Idk
Maybe I’ll remaster and color/shade it fully but for now it’s just flats with some overlays lol
Anyways,,,, enjoy~✨
(Edit 4/16/2024: fixed the colors :p ⚡️❤️)
Something soft and sweet for the timeline 💗⚡️🌿
For those who don’t know the two characters I have in this drawing are my version of Billy and Samara as older teenagers. And they eventually become a couple! And they are cute, and soft, and pink!
Samara is an old Captain Marvel character that used to be known as Cissy Sommerly but, I changed her up a little bit. I changed her name so that way it fit into the naming scheme of everyone having matching initials, like Billy Batson, Freddy Freeman, Darla Dudley etc. etc. So now she’s Samara Sommerly! Yay! 🎉
She is the daughter of Sterling Silver, and heir to the throne of Whiz Radio, their family business.
Billy loves Samara’s spunky and sweet personality, mixed with her fierce determination towards her goals.
Samara loves Billy’s dry and sarcastic whit that blends with his strong values towards justice and family.
It’s a tale as old as time. But, their connection really starts when Whiz Radio is on the brink of going out of business. Samara is heartbroken because if Whiz Radio goes out of business, that means her and her family will have to move to a different city, and she will lose everything she’s ever known.
And then there’s Billy, a foster kid who grew up being moved house to house his whole life, who never really got the chance to plant his roots in a meaningful way in any community.
He empathizes with her panic about having to move to a new place and lose the comfort that was everything you once knew, and opens up to her about his childhood in the foster system.
Then, in an attempt to save Whiz Radio, Samara sparks a plan to make a radio show on the new hero Captain Marvel/Shazam as a way to get more listeners and save her family from bankruptcy.
Billy wants to help Samara save Whiz Radio and keep Samara in Fawcett City, so he offers to co-host with her on her new radio show and this is the catalyst for their close bond.
Note: She is unaware of Billy’s alternate identity as the hero Shazam however, Billy takes opportunities whenever he can to help her with her radio show as both Captain Marvel/Shazam and Billy cause’ he cares about her and wants her to stay in Fawcett City.
Closeup drawing below because compression kicks my ass lowkey. 😔🤙
Okay kind of a different post than my normal stuff but I did just want to put all of these in one place. These are my character analysis slides that I’ve been working on!
Breaking down the character of Billy Batson has been so fun for me, and its by far my favorite part of the writing process. So here’s what I have so far for my interpretation of the character.
Here is my first slide where I breakdown the basic overview of my story. Just outlining the basic plot summary, the story’s themes, and the basic character arc for Billy.
As you can see it’s very similar to the first movie I’ve just modified some things here and there to add my own fun twist to Billy’s origin story.
[ MORE SLIDES BELOW ]
In this slide is where I breakdown Billy’s passive motivation, something I see that is necessary for all superhero characters. Similar to Spider-Man’s “power and responsibility” thing, and similar to how Batman protects and values all life because his life was forever changed by a random act of violence.
I think Billy’s passive motivation to do good is really, deeply rooted in the injustice that he witnesses throughout his childhood. He’s especially receptive to the problems of children and other vulnerable groups because as a member of those communities, he knows they get overlooked often.
This next slide is my character breakdowns. This shows my main character and all my important side characters. They each have a lesson they inadvertently teach Billy, helping him along his path to become a good hero.
They each play a role on the team, giving them fun dynamics. This allows them all to have distinct personalities allowing for fun dialogue, banter, and character moments.
The only character you might not know on this list is Samara. She is my version of the character Cissie Sommerly. Cissie is a classic Captain Marvel character who’s most recent comic book appearance was 1978. Woof. So I thought it would be a fun idea to modernize her and bring her back into the spotlight, serving as a glimpse into the average Fawcett citizen’s reaction to the new hero, Shazam.
This next slide is a closer look into Billy’s character flaws. Showing how at first he is hesitant to being a brother and being a hero. It kinda explains the mistakes he makes at first that he has to learn to overcome, and shows how his introspection will help him accept his roles as both a brother, and a hero.
Next we have something that if I could add to the 2019 film, I would. I love love love the 2019 version of Shazam but if I could add a little more expansion of Billy’s mother into the plot, I would.
I think is really important to the core of the character. This next slide I like to call “The Dark Reflection”.
I think that upon meeting his mother, Billy realizes that they are scarily similar. That she was also selfish, careless, and only interested in meeting her own needs. This lack of compassion and responsibility from her are the reasons she ended up abandoning Billy, leaving him in the foster system once she was released from prison and having zero interest in raising him.
Billy sees the mistakes she’s made in life and realizes that he is making the same ones, prioritizing his own wants/needs over anything else, and being just overall emotionally detached.
This scares him into re-evaluating his own behavior and consciously choosing to become more compassionate for others and foster a real sense of responsibility to use his powers wisely.
Next up, we have what I like to call “The Pillars of Character”. These are the three main “pillars” I see that are most prevalent in Billy’s story.
It’s important to me that all three of these pillars intertwine with each other, hence why I wanted to explore a little more about Billy’s mother. Adding a little more flavor text to why she is Billy’s dark reflection really helped me keep a balance between these three aspects of his character.
I also just think having all three pillars effect each other keeps a nice balance between all the aspects of his character. Showing how his character flaws effect different parts of his life and how Billy learns to grow and change for the better.
In summary, this is what I have for Billy’s character breakdown, showing his character arc for his origin story and how he learns to grow into a hero. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed because I had a fun time making this! I also have a lot more to share like individual character sheets for Billy and all my side characters, Three act story structure break downs, and other stuff too. So if you like this one maybe possibly I could do a part 2 soon.
Okay byeeeee!! ⚡️💕
Introduction to the Rock of Eternity~✨
This was my first time trying to make a drawing with a full background, a character, and shading and it took soOoOo long 😭 lmfao.
Anyways, this is my finished concept art for the train car that Billy gets off of once he’s magically transported to the Rock of Eternity. This version of the Rock of Eternity is a series of floating island that is in the middle of The Magic Realm.
This version of the Rock of Eternity is filled to the brim with jungle and rainforest nature and animals. That is how Tawny comes into the story. Tawny is a magical tiger who is the Wizard’s right-hand pet. They have a magical gemstone embedded in their head that grants them the power of telepathy, allowing them to communicate with others around them. They are not humanoid. They walk on four legs like a tiger and aren’t really fond of wearing human clothes.
I still have to draw the throne room for the champions, that’s where I want The Wizard and Tawny to spend most of their time. Working together as they divide up their time between recording/collecting ancient magic artifacts, resolving magic-related issues, and overall just trying to keep The Magic Realm safe. The Rock of Eternity is a protected hub of information and resources for anyone who is interested in learning about magic.
[ WRITING CONTINUES BELOW ⬇️ ✍️📝 ]
⚠️ Content warning: mentions of slavery in ancient Egypt, mentions of tyranny, clear portrayals of villainous intent, moral corruption etc.
It is a tireless job, that always has a constant flow of work to be completed. This also explains why The Wizard is looking for a champion of magic. He is looking for a pupil to train. Someone who will assist him protecting/saving the other realm. The Wizard sees The Mortal Realm as a mess that is in desperate need of assistance.
The Wizard decides to launch a project where he will expand his influence to The Mortal Realm in an attempt to solve all the problems he sees that plague the mortals of Earth. This project starts roughly about 5,000 years ago, when The Wizard believes he has found a worthy champion, Teth-Adam.
Teth-Adam proves to be a very powerful champion, who actively trains his newfound powers to help harness them to their full potential. He also becomes very involved in his studies of magic. Spending his early adulthood growing alongside The Wizard and Tawny as they eventually form a family-like connection. This joyful aspect of Adam’s life is in sharp contrast to his life in The Mortal Realm. Where he is a slave in ancient Egypt, being forced to help with the construction of the pyramids.
Eventually, Adam starts to corrupt. He returns to The Mortal Realm and begins to use his powers as a tyrant. He successfully frees the people of Egypt from their current enslavement however, instead of letting them roam free and begin to build their own lives, Adam has a different plan in mind. With his arrogance and ego afoot, he decides that he is the one true ruler of Egypt, and seizes complete control of the country.
Adam believes that he is the best possible person to rule over Egypt. He sees himself as a strong, competent leader. A pillar of strength who wants to optimize Egypt to it’s fullest potential. As his overt political power starts to corrupt him, Adam starts to micromanage the Egyptian people, turning the country into a complete and total dictatorship.
The Wizard sees this corruption that Adam is forcing over the people in Egypt and tries to talk some sense into him. Telling Adam that he did a good thing by freeing the people of Egypt however, in seizing complete control over the country he himself has become the one of tyrants he swore to destroy. Adam isn’t hearing any of it, he believes he is different from any previous leaders of Egypt because he has the country’s best interests at heart. Everything he has done in his rule has only improved the country, so he was clearly destined to be Egypt’s one true leader.
The Wizard then realizes that there is no getting through to Adam. They have a dramatic confrontation. The Wizard with a heavy heart, realizes that Adam has grown to be a very powerful advisory and is willing to fight for his rule over Egypt.
The Wizard eventually wins the battle however, doesn’t have the heart to kill Adam because they formed a very strong father/son relationship over the years as The Wizard was training Adam as his champion. As a last resort The Wizard decides to banish Adam to the furthest star in the galaxy. The Wizard reverses Adam’s influence over Egypt. He helps them to establish a proper democracy before returning to The Magic Realm to grieve over what he had to do to Adam, someone he saw as his own son.
The Wizard and Tawny mourn for many moons, causing the Wizard to put an indefinite pause on his project, leaving The Mortal Realm with no champion for the time being.
Fast forward about 5,000 years, The Wizard realizes in his old age, that he is growing weaker and weaker as the centuries pass. He ponders the idea of trying to find another Champion of Magic. Tawny tries to talk him out of it, reminding him of how poorly that went last time and saying there is no reason to want to do that again. The Wizard eventually changes Tawny’s mind once he reminds his fuzzy friend that once the Wizard is dead and gone, that Tawny will be unable to keep up with the responsibilities of the Rock of Eternity all by themselves.
The Wizard doesn’t really want to find a new champion, but he deems it necessary because he wants to make sure there is always enough people/resources to keep the balance of magic. He wants to personally train a mortal to eventually one day take over his duties, guiding them closely to make sure they are on the correct path. Hoping that now that he and Tawny are both wiser and older that they can find one pure, good soul to build into the perfect hero, and avoid repeating their old mistakes.
The Wizard and Tawny search for hundreds of years in an attempt to try and find a new Champion of Magic, but no one they bring to the Rock of Eternity seems to have a completely pure and good soul.
After years and years of tirelessly searching, they eventually stumble upon Billy Batson. Unfortunately Billy, like everyone who came before him, has imperfections and moments of human weakness that lead The Wizard and Tawny to initially discard him as a possible champion.
Then Billy questions their judgment, questioning them if there is such a thing as a “completely pure good person”, explaining that everyone has their flaws no matter how “good” they are. Suggesting that The Wizard and Tawny have been searching for so long because they’re looking for peoples flaws instead of their strengths.
This convinces The Wizard to change the conditions of his search. Deciding to comb over Billy’s mind again, but this time looking for the good within him instead of his flaws. The Wizard begins to see that Billy has a lot of moments that show him being a good kid and genuinely trying to help people, showing that Billy genuinely has a good heart.
The Wizard and Tawny mull over this decision and bicker amongst each other. They eventually decide that the Wizard has already burned thousands of years on this search so far, and they don’t know how much longer he has left to live as it is. Better to choose this kid who obviously has a good heart, and help mold him into a hero than to wait around for another thousand years, possibly having The Wizard die before he ever found a replacement.
And then, The Wizard decides to bestow the powers of Shazam to Billy Batson, making him the next Champion of Magic.
Very shortly after this decision is made, Adam returns to Earth. He has spent the last five thousand years traveling across the galaxy in an attempt to eventually make it back to Earth. He is very hurt by the Wizard’s decision to banish him to the furthest star in the galaxy and seeks to make amends.
However, when Adam finds out that The Wizard has chosen a new champion this sends him into a complete and utter rage. He sees this as The Wizard trying to replace him, both as a champion and as a son.
It’s a total slap in the face to Adam since he just spent the last 5,000 years traversing the cosmos to see The Wizard again. Adam sees it as a complete dismissal of the deep and meaningful familial connection they once shared to replace him with his new champion, Billy.
Adam knows that Billy is on the same path that he once was, being trained by The Wizard and Tawny to become the new Champion of Magic, and that they eventually plan to have him manage/protect The Rock of Eternity.
Adam resents the idea that he could ever be replaced and seeks to seize control over The Rock of Eternity. He plans to kill both The Wizard and his new champion to prove his superiority and “show them” that he was always destined to be the one true champion of magic.
His villainous behavior is not only motivated by his desire to have control, but also by his deep internal hurt of being replaced by Billy. Adam sees the terms “champion” and “son” as interchangeable. To him they mean the same thing, and Adam will stop at nothing to prove himself because deep down he wants The Wizard’s approval.
The Wizard and Tawny were the closest thing Adam ever had to a real family and after spending thousands of years trying to get back to them, he returns only to find he’s been replaced, and that is a pain he’s never felt before.
Adam doesn’t know how to cope with the feelings that erupt within him besides crushing all competition and once again using his tyrannical personality traits to try and prove his worth.
End. ⚡️
Wow that was a long one, lol. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed. I know the writing of this post was a post about Black Adam’s origins rather than The Rock of Eternity, but I hope you enjoyed regardless.
As always let me know what you guys think. I’m always open to suggestions since I’m making my own version of Shazam anyways lol. ⚡️💕
