INK!SANS
Ink!Sans is an out!code character who does not belong to any specific alternative universe (AU) of Undertale. He exists out of them but can interact with them. Ink!Sans supports the artists to keep contributing to the fandom and generally embodies an artistic aesthetic that even follows him in his combat abilities.
What is an AU? An AU (or alternative universe) is a spin-off of an official storyline/concept that explores the different possibilities of said concept by putting characters in a different setting, with different abilities, or in different social situations, etc. In this case, Undertale’s storylines and characters have AUs based on them. The entirety of the AUs is called the Multiverse.
The fandom’s production (mostly of those said AUs) are Ink’s essence of living; as long as it’s creative and productive, he’s healthy and energic.
Ink!Sans can appear everywhere in any AU of his liking from any kind of liquid. He uses them as portals.
His big brush gives him the ability to create anything he likes and make it come to life, with the exception of dead characters.
Regarding fights, Ink!Sans finds purpose in trying to limitate the damage done by other out!code characters who wish to disrupt the original scripts of AUs. That includes people who wish to undo the consequences of genocide timelines. Ink!Sans prioritizes the respect of timelines’ scenarios over emotional conflicts.

The following bits of information are based on Ink’s lore and backstory. You can read more in the backstory section.
Brown overwhelms the palette because it is often the color gotten when all paints are mixed together.
Yellow and green being the first colors Ink experienced, they both have a tribute in the outfit.
Ink tuck in his overalls and wears them as pants.
Lack of shoes translate his carefreeness and mobility.
The light green color on his gloves simulates the tablet glove digital artists use.
The white undershirt speaks of how Ink attemps to cover his lack of soul, but his emptiness sometimes shines through.
The japanese-esque aesthetic comes from the fact that the idea of Ink came to me by coming across the picture of a brush made specifically for sumi and chinese inks in 2016. His outfit is also partially inspired from what samurais are sometimes depicted to wear in their ukiyo-e representations from the Edo period of Japan.
Ink!Sans often tries mixes of paints and scribbles notes on his scarf because of his bad memory.
His pupils change shape and color every time he blinks. It is speculated that they represent an AU with each shape and color combination, and each time they appear, it means Ink is watching the AU’s events unfurl through his eyes as if he was constantly observing. Ink claims that the shapes and colors are just random. They are never seen white.
The rainbow vials on his stash belt are paint bottles with heart shaped tops that cover the range of the rainbow.
His brush is most of the time carried on his back.
Under all the clothes, his bones are colored and marked by strange shapes.
♦ What are his heart shaped vials for?
His vials keep paints of color that are adapted just for him, and each vial gives him a range of emotion. He fills them at his Doodlesphere regularly. Ink needs these since he doesn’t have a soul and can’t feel on his own. Drinking a bit of all of them regularly allows him to maintain a normal constitution. If anyone else tried drinking them, it would just taste like paint.
♦ Which emotions do they all represent then?
Red is wrath/aggressivity, and yellow/orange is euphoria. Between these two colors, there is a hue of emotions for all the other colors, and it is up to you to think of their meanings :-)
♦ Why do his eyes change shapes and colors?
Ink has the tendency to drink a bit of all the colors at once to be able to balance the feelings and act as closely to a normal person who can control his emotions and react accordingly to most situations. Since all the colors are into his body at the same time, his eyes feature all of them.
♦ Do shapes have particular meanings too?
Not really, that’s pretty random. Two canon shapes do have meanings: his eyes shape like yellow stars when he’s excited or amazed, and one turns into a red target when he is fighting an enemy.
♦ Does him not having shoes hurt his feet?
Ink hardly feels physical pain like most skeleton characters. That’s what having bones for a body does! And being soulless plays a role in that too.
♦ Does Ink blush in rainbow?
Yes he does! He also happens to grow momentaneous rainbow freckles when he is deeply touched, or deeply perturbed.
♦ Does Ink have a rainbow tongue?
Yes, he does!
♦ Is there a human design for Ink!Sans?
No, you are free to make one up for him! :-)
Ink used to have an older outfit:
This design was heavily inspired from CookieHana ( https://www.deviantart.com/cookiehana )’s Pokemon trainer character Pen. The issue is the reason why the oufit was changed. Read this post for the whole explanation!
♦ Will I still be able to use Ink’s main old design?
I would ask you to please prioritize Ink’s new design, given the circumstances. I know I cannot stop everyone from using this old design, and I will not come for you if you use it. I would simply want my wish to be respected given I allow people to use him for so many projects, professional ones included.
♦ Will I have to scrap the artworks I made of Ink in his old design but did not post yet? Will I have to change to Ink’s new design in my comics/animations immediately?
You don’t need to scrap your artwork of Ink’s older design! Please feel free to finish it and post it online, I will absolutely not hold it against you. If you claim that your drawings were made before the announcement, I will believe you. You are also free to conclude your comics and animations with Ink’s old design if it was already started before the announcement and you can’t make the new design fit at all. I will only ask that if you can make the change of Ink’s design fit with your storylines and start using it from there, please do so as soon as you can. I would really appreciate it. <3
♦ Will the alternative versions of Ink (like Fresh!Ink) have to change designs too?
No, characters like Fresh!Ink or specific designs you made of Ink to fit in your AUs do not have to change!
♦ Will you revamp Fresh!Ink’s design?
At the moment, I don’t plan to! I would rather let the monstrosity be what it is! :-)
♦ Can we still draw the alternate outfits you made of Ink?
If you are talking about these two following designs, yes, you can absolutely continue using them! <3

I’m not planning to currently, but maybe one day! Both previous and new versions would be totally free to use for Ink if that does happen! :-)

No, they do not require a change either at all!

I’m happy with what I did for the 2020 design, but Ink is still Ink and I honestly love him regardless of what he wears! <3 On that note, people are totally free to create outfits for him as they have in the past!

- PERSONALITY -
♦ What’s his character like? (personality, quirks…)
Ink!Sans has a tendency to get too excited about things. He also has very short memory and will forget about different things - sometimes stopping mid sentence to try and remember what he just said a few seconds before.
He is very passionate about art and likes to motivate characters and creators. He’s able to change clothes on people just by a paint of his brush, and he loves to create the kind of outfit they like. Even though he uses art as a tool, no one really saw his drawings or paintings.
He’s a mischief-maker. Pranks are his guilty pleasure.
Ink in general acts wittily and provocatively.
With him hardly having a proper social understanding, he’s blunt in his teasing and mocking just like in his ability to give support and to be kind.
He’s really forgetful (which is why he takes notes on his scarf).
Ink approaches ennemies carefully. He will never try to attack them first, but will mostly focus on trying to discover their motives and talk them through it. Although he does come off as a jerk in first impression, he does know what to analyze to understand the issue so he can brush people the right way and hopefully have them listen.
He loses his pencils all the time.
He happens to sometime randomly vomit ink, mostly when he gets too emotionally shaken, whether from passion or shock.
Ink supports all kinds of art, like painting, literature, dance, music, etc.
He is afraid of whiteness, of absence of presences or shapes around him, loneliness, huge empty spaces…
Ink does not appear as a perfectly well behaved character. He can sometimes be inconsiderate in his mocking and cruel in his opinions, and deep down he sees other characters as story characters and not as people like him like a proper story would. He has a very special morality that sometimes shows to be really seperated from his emotions. He can be identified as chaotic neutral.

- BACKSTORY -

♦ What is Ink’s original name?
The same name as his original AU. :)
♦ What is Ink’s original AU? Who made it?
_____tale. The owner does not have a proper identity, it could be anybody.
♦ Did Ink tear off his soul?
Yes, he did. And thus he erased himself from his AU, which had only one unfinished timeline with no possibility to reset.
♦ Where did he end up?
He ended up in what will become his Doodle sphere.
♦ What happened to his old AU?
It supposedly stayed exactly the same, unfinished and forgotten.
♦ Who is the artist that splashed him with colors?
It could be anyone in the fandom. You, your friend, or any artist ever. :D
♦ Where do those tattoos come from?
His tattoos are extremely tiny, nearly unreadable bits of binary. They are parts of the multiverse’s core code that stuck onto him and formed marks on him when he traveled from his AU to what will become his Doodle sphere. :-)
♦ If Ink runs out of those paints and is unable to refill them until the colors in him eventually fade, what would happen?
Ink would become a husk, like an empty shell. He will simply stop moving, responding, and will not have any of his senses working. Ink’s body can be completely controlled by someone else, but his ink abilities will not be available anymore. He basically becomes a corpse until he is refilled with paints. Surprisingly enough, it’s very easy to defeat him!
♦ Why doesn’t Ink just make himself/steal a soul?
His duty to protect the timelines forbids him to steal a soul for himself. He also cannot make himself a soul because he cannot revive what is dead. Although he knows his emotion vials have a weakness, he believes it is a better advantage than a soul that can be visible and destroyed. Let’s say it’s less expected. :-)
- THE STATE OF HIS STORY COMIC -
♦ Are you going to continue/complete His Story comic?
Up to this day, I’m not sure myself. I love Ink with all my heart, but he is a vivid interest that goes back to 2016, and because of my growth and the changes in my life, my interests have shifted to something else. A comic is a lot of work, I am learning that much myself since I’m focusing on my professional project. The prospect of working on His Story is no longer appealing to me, unfortunately. :(
So far, everything that has happened in the released parts of His Story has been the most important. Ink is an abandoned project who managed to pull himself out of his situation to turn into this grand, known figure of protection and creation, and all this journey comes with its consequences and traumas. He is an insecure, self-centered character with abandonment issues and who has a hard time trusting his emotions. He is a very paradoxical spin off of the whole Multiverse fandom of Undertale, and thinking of it, I wonder if it truly needs more to it.
I might shorten the story and make a conclusion, so I don’t leave a bittersweet unfinished project behind me! <3 I will gladly keep talking, drawing and reblogging art or content of him. He’s been a big part of my life and he’s still the little miracle I cherish.

♦ When was Ink created?
He was created in January 2016!
♦ How did you come up with the idea of Ink?
I was trying to find a new AU concept because I was very unsatisfied with my contributions to the fandom, and I really wanted to try my hand at an out!code character. I came across a picture of a brush made specifically for chinese and japanese ink, and it sort of clicked. I thought it would be fitting to have something that fit the incredible dynamic and power the newly AU Multiverse craze was starting to be, and that a version of Sans supporting the various creations that were appearing would be cute! :-)
♦ Why did you base yourself on Sans and not another character?
Sans was my favorite at the time, and the awareness he had on how he was part of a game that was bound to forever restart and trap him into silence was a groundbreaking character trait we had barely seen before, and it was what made him explode around the fandom. I merely followed the craze! :-)
♦ What is the Doodle sphere?
It’s basically Ink’s personal multiverse. If you know how html and CSS work, the multiverse’s core code is the html and his Doodle sphere is the CSS that goes with it (the core code is the mechanic and the Doodle sphere is the design that makes it pretty and possible to visit.) I imagine the multiverse’s core code as a portal that is very frightening and unsettling to travel through, and thus Ink would rather sugarcoat his little multiverse than go through the core code again.
The Doodle sphere is a colorful world where big-sized buckets float. Each bucket is an AU. The liquid in these buckets is a portal inside the AU.
Ink doesn’t exactly live to a designated area, he travels all the time. The Doodle sphere just happens to be his “base” to come back to.
♦ What are Ink’s weapons?
As written above, Ink is not one to attack first for two reasons: he would rather solve conflict rather than attack someone, and fighting uses a lot of ink out of him. The vials he drinks are not only used for emotions, they are also what enables him to manipulate ink and summon his various capacities. Although not necessary for him to manipulate ink, his big brush is a vessel to concentrate his powers and have more precision and range. This brush feels light to him, but is relatively heavy for anybody else.
Out of this ink stored inside him, he can create different moves, implying Sans-like attacks, like black colored bones and blasters. Those blasters shoot ink that can boil or solidify.
♦ What are Ink’s hobbies other than his role as a guardian?
He plays the flute! He also enjoys learning how to sew so he doesn’t always rely on his powers.
♦ What is Ink’s assigned font?
His assigned font is Note this! (https://www.dafont.com/note-this.font) but there’s absolutely no obligation to use it! <3
♦ When is Ink’s birthday?
It’s on April 15, World’s Art day! :-)

Ink is slightly shorter than original Sans (Comic Sans = 4 feet, so Ink Sans = 3.8 feet).
He doesn’t weight much since he’s all bones and fabric, but he does look “big-boned” (meaning his bones are wide, literally lmao.)

♦ What are Ink’s relationships with Undertop!Gaster and Zephyrtale!Gaster?
Undertop Gaster ( @under-top ) is one of Ink’s father figures. They slowly bonded over the wisdom and experiences the reality of knowing of the out!code world gives. Although Gaster has two sons (Undertop Sans and Papyrus), he does consider Ink as part of his family. Gaster is a charismatic ringleader who plays pretend as an in!code, but he has a lot of insomnias, hallucinations and nightmares from his past as an out!code as well as the genocide timelines of Undertop following him. He often talks about it with Ink. Ink is very curious about Gaster’s unending desire to refuse to embrace his out!code state and purposefully blend in his AU, but he relates about the idea of wanting to have a concrete place in the world. They allow themselves to have cynical talks about the Multiverse quite often, but they also manage to nurture a tender familial friendship through it.
Zephyrtale Gaster (or Aster) is part of one of my first Undertale AUs, Zephyrtale! Aster has been an in!code all his life until he met Undertop Gaster, and a little while later, Ink!Sans. He has ever since slowly been confronted to the knowledge of learning about the Multiverse and all that it implies, and develops a passion for studying it with Ink’s help. They progressively develop a friendship, and thanks to Aster, Ink grows fond of learning how to do things without relying on his creative powers, like building machinery, creating blueprints and studying astrophysics. Although they did not bond the same way, Aster, just like Gaster, sees Ink like family too.
♦ What are his relationships with Underswap!Sans, Error!Sans, Dream!Sans…

♦ I’ve been hearing about Ink and a Loveball event, what is that about?
Somewhere in 2016 if I recall correctly, I participated to an Undertale community roleplay event called the Loveball where I was invited to roleplay as Ink!Sans. It was basically a lot of multiverse characters grouped in a big mansion for one evening, dressed up for a fancy party. This event was very popular and marked a big step for the development of the Multiverse part of the fandom.

#inktobertale is a spin-off from the very famous Inktober challenge. During the month of October, a list of prompts for drawings about Ink!Sans will be released: each day will have an assigned prompt people can interprete and draw out! The challenge will continue every day until the 31st of the month. The point is to come up with creative ways to respond to the prompts using Ink!Sans and to manage to draw something everyday until the end of the month!

The moment I noticed my handwriting look like “Note this!” (ink’s font) I can’t help but write in the scarf. Which includes of I have a headcanon that the black spots on Ink’s scarf is not from regular ink but an actual smudge from Ink’s note lump in together 🤣😂
Them wearing only short and shirt during cuddles is a reference to the cuddle comic that ink tell Error can touch where ever he want (their lil private ASMR cuddles 🤣), so mostly they end up use their scarf as a blanket when they end up sleeping.
Error might cuddle ink like body pillow but ink unintentionally tangled his legs with Error’s and it hard to let it lose 🤣😂(little fear of abandonment).

The scenario of Error being brought to the edge of dying and starting to “melt” (or whatever you would call it) because his determination is struggling to keep his body from dusting is something I’ve thought of for a while. I mean, if Geno is tripping on DT-Juice I dunno why Error shouldn’t be either, but because I’ve never seen this been brought up by anyone has me doubting whether this is actually a thing. Or maybe I’m just really out of the loop and this is something everyone talks about! WHATEVER
And in case anyone’s wondering, Ink has no idea here that Error is actually Geno, so seeing the guy he’s uh,,, “known” for such a long time just start frickin melting has him quite shooketh, but also really excited and curious.

Sketch Commission | Rooftop Heroes
For RedStarryNight on dA of his idea for a Miraculous Ladybug/Danny Phantom crossover! Here’s a snippet he wrote to create the atmosphere for this piece:
“Chat Noir doesn’t know where their new friend comes from. He speaks no French–when he speaks at all, fades into the air after every shining butterfly flaps away, and as they discover when they have to help him stagger away from one particularly onerous fight, he’s apparently sleeping in the dark corners of Paris’s opera house, or meditating among the skeletons in the catacombs.
Wherever he comes from, he’s obviously fleeing it–and dying with every step away from home.
Chat’s heart bleeds for his new friend; beaten down as he is, this Phantom still shrugs off his cares and heartache to help them protect Paris. Ladybug agonizes over Phantom; she wants to help–they both do–but Phantom only smiles and shakes his head. But at least it IS a smile.
So, they seek him out. Talk to him. Treat him like a friend (because he is). Like they’re happy he’s there (because they are). They bring him food, tell him about their days and their adventures. Welcome to Irk!
Irk is the fourth planet within its solar system, with 5 moons orbiting the ringed planet. All 5 of Irks moons are used in some way, shape, or form.
Gryne, a moon that is generally gray in color with a singular planetary ring, is used for any in house Irken technology production. This includes, but is not limited to, Paks and their necessary parts (generally in larger amounts due to Paks needing replacement parts is individuals end up on a planet inhospitable to proper upkeep of these devices), the majority of all laser-based weapons, Smeetery tubes and monitoring/development technology, portable housing units, and a plethora of other objects.
Khyroph, the smallest moon in Irk orbit that has a deep purple atmosphere that is impossible for any being outside the atmosphere to see into, contains the Irken empires largest infirmary (around 3/4ths of the planet) as well as the secondary Smeeterys.
Pong-pong, the largest moon in Irken orbit with a lighter pink atmosphere than the main Irken planet, is used as a farming type planet, though the majority of the moon is used as grounds for the secondary population of Bwasps as well as their pray species and preferred plant life. Although Irkens do use a small part of the planet to grow chyrot and gewie fruit.
Ortang, also called prisony, is an orange planet that was once uninhabitable due to the large amount of iron in the atmosphere. However due to atmotats the planet was now able to be used as a mining and prison based planet. Most if not all prisoners of invasion or Irkens who were spared from decommission after poor performance evaluation end up on this pile of rock to work the mines.
Lastly Miyuki, the current title of the moon after the untimely passing of Tallest Miyuki though occasional outsiders and old files still refer to it as Bytronia, is the vacation hot spot within the Irken solar system. From extreme sports to large scale amusement parks to natural springs and seas, the planet can keep any visitor entertained for decades.

while a lot of what I draw is Undertale, I do have other franchises I find interesting to draw from, one of them being Splatoon. So one day I decided it would be a fun idea to draw my version of Agent 3 and agent 8.
While I know that in the official trailer cannon, from what I can tell, Agent 3 is generally considered to be a girl Inkling, I was introduced to this Agent though by Chuggaaconroy, a Nintendo game youtuber, and he showed me Agent 3′s journey as a male inkling. Because of this I personally like to think, thanks to Chugga, that Agent 3 is a somewhat serious, calm, as well as caring and helpful Inkling who is also a slightly forgetful. I imagine he works his hardest to master all the weapons he can as well as push himself as far as he can in anything he does meaning that until he gets it done to his standards he won't stop trying to get it done right or at least that is how I see him. I also think he would stare at something he can't explain or figure out for a while just to solve the dilemma.
Agent 8 though I was introduced to as the Female, witch is cannon, when I think of her though my mind falls to Viantastic’s Bridget. An Agent that is serious but has some quirks that make her seem very childish. Even still is very smart and strong and survived through all the disasters that have and will continue to come her way.

Nightmare and Dream are like Ink and Error in a way. They are two halves of a balance, where one is hated because of what they represent and the other is loved for the very same reasons.
when I came up with this long ago, my first thought was “ok, they represent sleep, why not have them sleeping seemingly in the states they represent.

ok, this is a stupid picture I came up with a long time ago in response to a random idea I had got at the time.
I have like part of a story written done for it, but the main gist of it is Ink finds Error having his equivalent of a seizure and after finding out that Error basically leaves it untreated he kind of kidnaps Error in an attempt to prevent Error from hurting himself with his “incompetence”.
I may put up what I have of the idea at some point, but as of now that is far from my mind.

The Fight To Keep Going-Prolog And Chapter 1
The multiverse is an expansive place filled with worlds upon worlds upon worlds. Constantly gaining new worlds thanks to its ever-inspired creator. But on the other side of this ever expansion in worlds is the half working to keep the multiverse in balance through the annihilation of worlds that have no true purpose or are just plain weird. A thank less job that no one sees just how important it is to keep the multiverse alive. One that the multiverse knew was important the day it brought the creator into being so it took one of the creators earliest long forgotten (not counting the first worlds the multiverse created themselves) worlds and took the sans from the world and threw them into the Anti-void before destroying the world. Time passed differently in the Anti-void as the multiverse It’s self, with what remained of their power from creating the first few worlds and their creator, set about changing the unconscious sans into what they needed to keep the balance.
In the end, they didn’t know the full extent of what they had done to their destroyer and they didn’t have enough power to release the destroyer from the Anti-void. So, he was forced to remain their going insane for what could have been years trying to escape, but getting no were. As this went on the creator continued to create new worlds upon worlds. Expanding and expanding till the multiverse started to reach its limits. It was then that the Destroyer finally found his way free. Mind once again clear of the insanity that had passed through his body with panic instead traversing his system as he felt how stretched the multiverse was from the creator. Fear of the imitate collapse of the only place he knew as his home by this point lead him to act fast. Quickly the destroyer went about the multiverse destroying worlds that had no purpose to their existence and removed them to make space for more.
This though lead to him getting on the bad side of the creator with him not having time to explain his reasons for doing this. Not that it truly mattered to the creator, all he knew was that the destroyer was terminating his creations and he didn’t like that. So, he told his creations and they didn’t like it either, or in most cases they didn’t like it either. Some have no clue that he even exists because the creator refused to pull them into the fray, but one decided to listen to the destroyer’s words and came to understand exactly how important what they were was and joined him as an ally and friend.
No one knew through about the time bomb that had been left in the destroyer and its implications if the bomb goes off.
Chapter 1: When a Friend Begins to Worry
The multiverse is a strange place were worlds upon world exist in a constant back and forth balance. The destroyer destroying and the creator creating. Though this balance was a constant battle back and forth between “good” and “evil” there were “calms in the storm” when neither was actively pushing to keep the balance. When both were just licking their wounds and trying to recover from days upon days strait of just doing their job. One such member of the balance was lying on the couch in a barely lit room of a castle that existed in what was now a night filled world with one of his arms over his sockets.
Through a side door a skeleton clad in a purple tunic and ink black leggings with a golden crown with a crescent moon embedder into it as black tendrils of what seemed like shadows flowed from his back entered the room and looked over to the skeleton lying on the couch. Said skeleton had black, yellow, and red bones laden with cracks and brakes that were slowly healing wearing a plain red T-shirt and a pair of black basketball shorts with blue stripes. Close by a pair of black slippers were lying on the floor while a jacket that possessed a gradient that changed from blue to black was lying on one of the couches arm rests.
“Hey Error,” the purple clad skeleton said to the black boned skeleton on the couch as he moved to sit on the other couch in the room “You feeling any better?”
The black skeleton, Error, replied simply with “Go away Nightmare.”
With a snort the skeleton clad in a purple tunic, Nightmare, adjusted himself to be lounging on the couch before saying “I guess that’s a no.”
Error removed his arm from over his sockets as he glared over at Nightmare before saying “Shut up.”
Nightmare gave a snort at the comment before saying “bad couple of days?”
Error huffed in annoyance, but deciding that Nightmare wasn’t going to be quiet any more till he told him exactly what has been happening. He had been silent earlier when Error had come in completely wrecked with quite a few new bruises and scrapes to add to his list of recurring pain. That and he was limping due to his broken fibula. He even stayed quiet as Error had collapsed on one of his couches before grabbing one the first aid kits he now kept throughout his home, since this had become a fairly common occurrence since they became friends, and set about treating the major injuries with the addition of some magic to speed up the healing prosses. After that he left Error to get some rest as he went to take a shower and change so that he wasn’t covered in the gunk he was normally covered in to be more comfortable as well as to make Error more comfortable since the gunk reminded him of the paint the creator, Ink, often used in their battles.
“I had to destroy thirty-eight AU’s just to barely keep up with Ink, and I’m still behind him by two bloody AU’s, and during the entire week long killing spree I got zero hours sleep and had five close encounters with Inky.” Error said getting a snort from Nightmare at the creator’s newest nickname “That and in addition to Ink getting me good in the last battle of the week and braking my fibula in half…” after a glare from Nightmare, Error added “again… the throbbing pain is back."
A frown passed over Nightmare’s feature as he asked “Is it as bad as last time?”
At this point Nightmare was fairly use to hearing Error complain about some form of pain, usually because it slowed down his “path of destruction” as Error had remarked Ink calling his work to keep the multiverse from blowing up, but as of late a different type of pain that actually wasn’t linked to any injury the two could find had started popping up. Error had said he had been felling the throbbing for a while, but he was so use to the pain that covered his body due to the battles that usually took place between him and Ink that always left the two of them injured that he hadn’t really noticed the new pain in the beginning. Even when it had initially started getting worse Error had been able to ignore the throbbing pain for a while, at least till recently. As of their last few meetings it had been getting bad. So intense that last time they had met up Error had come to Nightmare’s castle an hour before their normal meeting time and had curled up in a corner for said hour crying from how bad it was till Nightmare found him there.
Nightmare hoped it wasn’t going to get that bad again, seeing Error like that considering that he normally only showed a bit of annoyance at any form of pain was disturbing. It didn’t help that nothing that Nightmare had done to relieve the pain seemed to help all that much.
Nightmare was quickly pulled out or his thoughts as Error replied to the question with “If it was do you think I would have come and lied down on the couch or be talking to you right now?”
Nightmare snorted gaining a bit of a smile at the comment as he let himself relax for the moment before replying “no, I guess not.” after a second though the frown came back over his features as he asked “but the pain is still coming back?”
Error just let his arm cover his eyes again as he answered with a simple “yeah.”
The two sat in silence for a few minutes seemingly just enjoying each other’s company before Error broke the silence asking “so, how are things going for you?”
Nightmare gave a bit of a laugh at the weak attempt at restarting the conversation on a completely different subject, but relented to the subject change and replied with “oh, you know same old stuff. Distracting Ink, fighting Dream, trying not to worry about the prospect of my best friend being killed by the creator of almost every world in the multiverse.”
“Hey!” Error said in false shock “I am not that bad! I haven’t been close to dying once!”
“What about the time Ink bashed in your skull?” Nightmare shot back with a smirk on his face.
Error replied back with a good bit of theatrics “It didn’t even hurt and we eventually got all the pieces back in place! It healed up perfectly fine!” in the end though Error couldn’t keep up the theatrics and ended up laughing through the last few words before Nightmare joined him.
The two of them had long ago decided that Error’s battles with Ink by no chance would be the end of the destroyer of worlds. Ink just didn’t have the desire to kill anyone including the person that caused him so much grief. Sure Ink gave Error a few nasty injuries, most of witch Error repaid the creator with to a similar degree, but it was never any think Error couldn’t heal from. By this point it had become a bit of a running joke between the two of them to reference the nonexistent chance of Error dying to Ink.
After a few minutes of laughter the two calmed down before Nightmare gets up asking “you want me to take care of two AUs while you rest here so your caught up?”
A sigh escaped Error as he looked at Nightmare before he replied “Sure, might as well since I am assuming you are not going to let me get up till at least tomorrow.”
Smiling Nightmare said “not a chance, you would somehow rebreak your leg the moment you got up. Now hand them over.”
A snort escaped Error at the comment before he reached back into his jacket pocket and pulled out two orbs of what looked to be pure destructive magic wrapped in blue strings to keep it contained. Error had long ago figured out that there was a way to contain the last bit of destructive energy necessary to destroy an AU and had started keeping a few around for the times when he was to exhausted to draw forth the necessary energy to eliminate the last part of an AU.
As Error lifted his hand up offering the items he asked “you remember how to use these right?”
Nightmare snorted as he took the offered destructive energy replying “drop it in the judgement hall after I’ve gotten the human’s soul and killed off all monsters in the AU and get out of there as fast as I can.”
Error gave him a bit of a glare as he said “And?”
Nightmare just rolled his eyes replying “And don’t drop them before that point or the AU has a chance of being reset.”
Error gave a nod of approval as he let his hand drop down to lay on his sternum before saying “good.”
Nightmare gave a bit of a laugh at how cautious Error was with his annihilation of worlds before asking “any specific worlds you want me to go after?”
Error spent a minute thinking about what worlds need destruction before saying with a shrug “maybe go after a Yarntale and Gingertale.”
A laugh escaped Nightmare at the answer as he knew exactly why Error wanted him to go after those worlds in particular and voiced his suspicion by asking “do you want me to get you some yarn and get us some chocolate cookies while I’m destroying the worlds?”
Nightmare could only laugh as he saw stars enter Error’s eyes at the prospect of gaining some of those items and then nod very quickly. Once Nightmare regained control of himself he replies a bit out of breath “all right, I’ll get some while I’m there. Not like they are going to miss them.”
After he turned away and Error let his head turn to look at the ceiling Nightmare stopped in his tracks as he let the gunk recover his body before saying in his now distorted voice “hey, Error.”
Error turned back to look at Nightmare cringing a little at the tar like substance that was now covering the other’s body before asking “yeah?”
Nightmare turned his head back a bit to look at Error before saying “promise me if it gets as bad as it did again you’ll call me and go see a doctor about this.”
Error twitched slightly at the prospect, Nightmare knew he hated making promises much less the prospect of going to a world to get examined were it was likely he would get attacked for what he had to do, but for Nightmare he would make an exception. “yeah, all right.”
With that Nightmare opened a portal and exited into the rest of the multiverse as Error returned his gaze to the ceiling as he thought about how he hoped that the pain never get that bad again so that he didn’t have to fulfill that promise. Not knowing that that promise was going to be enacted fairly soon.
