"The Vampiric Bloodletter"
"Out of all the dragons I've seen and studied, along with the one's I've only heard of in passing conversation, the Bloodletter wasn't one I thought truly existed. Tales of a bright red dragon with ten eyes that drank blood...? Seemed too much like an old story to scare children but it seems this nesting year at the colony has proven me wrong.
I noticed the new egg amongst a clutch of Monstrous Nightmare eggs, an odd oblong shape with a dark red shell amongst the pale orange-pink eggs certainly stood out. Moving the egg wasn't an option so I left it. Come hatching day I kept a close eye on the nest, only to find an entirely unique dragon to hatch with the Monstrous' brood. At first I figured it was a case of hybridism but that theory was dropped quickly, after all just one hybrid offspring in a nest of six didn't make sense. Not to mention the tiny-tooth's features, ten eyes that all were a dark black, unique extra digits that I assume are opposable to a degree and a notable blade on the end of it's tail.
So I can conclude that the Bloodletter is in fact a living and breathing dragon species, a colony or nest parasite from what I can tell but also it's behavior is still unique. From what I have observed the nestling has been acting like a Monstrous Nightmare, mimicking their vocal calls and behaviors which is fascinating. For now I see no need to try and relocate the dragon, nor do I think it's surrogate mother would allow me and I personally would like to keep my good record with her.
This will at least give me time to study it and hopefully pull together some proper information, since I fear the number of these dragons may only be in single digits... I've also noted while looking through some other old local legends that the Bloodletter shares some shocking resemblance to the few descriptions of the Lycanwing... I can't help but wonder if they're connected somehow, but that's research for another time." - Excerpt from "The Nature of Dragons", an extensive series of books and journals by a man named Salamander.

Class: Mystery
Size: 6 to 7 feet tall, with a wingspan of 10-11 feet at Broadwing stage - Titanwings are roughly 12 to 14 feet tall with a 20-22 foot wingspan.
Preferred Food: Dragon blood or incredibly fresh meat along with specifically certain organs of most creatures.
Status: Critical - Maybe only a handful of individuals exist on the surface world, that or they are just really good at staying away from people.
The Vampiric Bloodletter is noted for it's vibrant colors and unique features that assist with defending itself and securing it's specialized diet, due to the low amount of sightings and encounters little is truly known about them by humans. They are parasites in truth, spending a lot of time in flocks or colonies with other species so they can feed easily and also mimicking the dragons around them in terms of mannerisms for survival.
Their numerous eyes negates any blindspot they would normally have, along with this a forked tongue and heat sensing pits along their upper lips makes for the perfect tracking equipment. They have opposable digits on all their limbs that are topped with claws that are much like switchblades, used for further opening the bites they leave on other dragons or for defense - same to be said about the blade on their tail.
It's vibrant coloration is a classic animal warning system of "I'm toxic, stay away!". Seeing as they possess a highly potent venom which actually changes throughout their lives.
Tiny-Tooth to Shortwing: They can use this venom as a projectile to blind much like spitting cobras and generally deter threats to them. It's noted that it also stings if it makes contact with human skin. It has mild anticoagulant properties when administered via a bite along with slight numbing, think vampire bats.
Broadwing: The venom glands develop fully, producing a highly anticoagulant hemotoxin that causes numbing and disorientation even causing dragons to become incredibly drowsy. In humans it causes severe hallucinations, supposedly making one think that they're turning into a dragon.
Titanwing: Not much changes aside from more potency and the ability to even render some dragons unconscious for a certain amount of time after being bitten. Though at this stage they can afflict humans with something much worse, it's unknown how exactly it works but if a human is bitten by a Titanwing Bloodletter there is a chance they will be afflicted with the curse that is becoming a Lycanwing - if they survive the initial bite and the first shift that is...

WOO! Done at last!!
The Vampiric Bloodletter is one of my very few fanmade httyd species and I love how they came out!! Also if you couldn't tell these guys are my explanation for the Lycanwing legend, basically these guys are the ones that turn people to Lycanwings and somewhat go off of the description of the one in the story told by Gobber in RTTE. I have some more notes on them so uh if anyone has questions I will gladly elaborate on my fellas!
Also I will say: Anyone is free to make one of these fellas just please credit me! The lineart of the image is under the cut and can be used as a base.
Because of the upcoming live action movie, I’m trying to make designs for all of the HTTYD dragons (from the first movie)
Here’s Monstrous Nightmare, Zippleback, and Gronckle!
hiii could you by chance possibly write some headcanons about daryl with a girly girl he treats like his pretty princess? like her nails look like this bc his hands look like THAT 😩👌💪
a/n: thank u for sending this in to me nonnie bcos i have been all up in my daryl dixon feels and i just want him to smother me
daryl would ABSOLUTELY treat you like the prettiest princess in the whole entire world !! when he catches you doing your make up in the morning for work, or just because you like doing it, he stands there and admires you the entire time. you catch him smiling at you in the mirror, eyes full of awe as he watches you. “yer so pretty,” he’d mumble, almost like a sigh. because he couldn’t get over how beautiful you were. he loves to take you out on dates every friday night, letting you get all dressed up and showing you off whenever you went. he loves the look he gets from guys when they look at you on his arm, and it always makes him a little cocky because yes. he, the local mechanic who was covered in oil and other engine fluids 99% of the time, pulled you.
he loves to take you into whatever store you want— wether you have the intention of buying anything or you’re simply just looking. if he catches you eyeing off an item of clothing he always tells you to try it on, and even if you don’t plan on buying it, he’ll either buy it ( ignoring your protests ) or he’ll sneak back to the store a few days later and leave it on the bed for you to wake up to when he’s left for work in the morning.
he loves it when you get your nails done too, and he especially loves paying for them as well. you always ask him what colour you should get, or if you guys have some wedding or something to go to, you always get a colour that’ll match what his wearing — if not you always match his eyes.
daryl also has several nicknames for you, such as baby, sweetie, pretty princess, darlin’, gorgeous girl— the list keeps going on and on. you’re keeping track almost every day because he’s always got a new nickname for you but each and every time it’s making you all giddy like a lovesick teenager.
more bnha oc (Soft Sting) stuff
in response to @mayfay ‘s take on him:))
Yes, he definitely assumed a more humanoid shape for convenience/to fit in, but it severely inhibits the extend of his abilities and unraveling the compact form is very complicated. In the real form he of course has access to more stingers (all of which he has full control over in terms of movement (can’t control the stinging)), but also is light enough to use the air/water to float or propel himself forward. Both in free and compact form he’s able to stretch his limbs to twice their lengths.
His real form looks like a human nervous system, though for him sensitivity is extremely limited.
His eyes can move in any direction, even being able to see through the back of his see-through head.
His body is dependent on water instead of blood, which is why he rejuvenates by submerging in a float tank in his room, along with carrying a water bottle everywhere.
Lastly, he has a mouth at the bottom of his ‘umbrella’, but it’s strictly for eating. He speaks via a minor second quirk of telepathy that functions the same as normal speaking, just inside people’s heads.
Color variants of one of my fan species - the Terroxplode!!!
Tbh I know that posting colors instead of an actual introduction to the species isn't the best choice but I couldn't get them out of my mind lately :p
So a short introduction - Terroxplodes are stoker class dragons that are a little bit bigger than Terrible Terrors. Species of the same color usually live in packs, although there are exeptions where multicolored groups are formed. Why that info you ask? Well they live on dried out trees so when they're sitting on the tree in a group they look like leaves. This is the story behind their colors so next time you adventure, make sure to look out for any peculiar trees!

Concept art of the day! Meet the Grave Singer. They live in the rocky shores that cause a lot of ships to wreck and beach. They tend to nest in the hull of ghost ships and their songs are known across the Archipelago. Legend has it, their cries are those of people lost to sea.
Decided to come up with some new Fury species by adjusting the canon Fury designs to be adapted to the following biomes: tundra, ocean, and caves.
Species One
Name: White Fury (aka Glacier Fury)
Inspired By: arctic hares, arctic foxes and polar bear cubs
Habitat: tundra and ice sheets
Breath Weapon: balls of hardened snow/ice
Diet: fish, lemmings and other small mammals, the occasional baby seal
Appearance: small (¼ the size of a Night Fury), short and rounded. They have a frill of small rounded auricles that help them hear prey under the snow, and large clawed paws for walking on and digging into snow and even permafrost. They are not good fliers and instead use their stunted wings to give them an extra boost when pouncing. Their scales are white with mottled light grey markings for camouflage, and in summer they migrate to ice sheets/glaciers.
Personality: very sociable with their own kind. They mate for life and will often share a den with several other breeding pairs, hibernating during the darkest months of the year in big piles. Their small size makes them wary of any creature that looks bigger than them. However, if one crouches down to their level and is patient, natural curiosity might just overrule their skittishness.
Species Two
Name: Smite Fury (aka Killer Fury)
Inspired By: leopard seals, killer whales and manta rays
Habitat: polar waters, mainly at the South Pole
Breath Weapon: electric stun blasts
Diet: fish, penguins, squid, seals and anything else they can catch
Appearance: long and slender, with wide ray-like wings that allow them to glide through the water with ease. They have long jaws filled with sharp teeth for holding prey. They are flightless, having lost their hind limbs, and their front limbs have evolved into flippers. Their tail-fins resemble a cetaceans’ fluke. They are excellent swimmers, graceful in the water, and hunt via ambush.
Personality: solitary and rather aggressive, particularly on land where they feel more vulnerable. Like most Fury species they are highly intelligent, and are capable of holding grudges. They choose a different mate every breeding season and give birth to live young. Being aquatic, they won’t attack humans on land, but woe betide you if you fall in the water near a hungry Smite Fury.
Species Three
Name: Bright Fury (aka Cave Fury / Flash Fury)
Inspired By: bats, glow worms, oilbirds and olms
Habitat: caves, but are also nocturnal
Breath Weapon: loud and bright bursts of fire, aka ‘flashbangs’
Diet: anything edible they can catch
Appearance: small (a little bit bigger than a Terror, but not by much) and highly manoeuvrable fliers. Their narrow, flattened bodies let them wriggle through tight spaces, and echolocation allows them to find their way in the dark/tell if a space is too small to fit through. They are all but blind, but have an excellent sense of smell and hearing. They also share the Night Fury ability to produce a blue glow, which they use to lure in prey, listening and smelling for it coming.
Personality: very sociable with their own kind, often living in large colonies like bats. However, they don’t take well to intruders, and when feeling threatened will use their ‘flashbangs’ to stun and blind. If all else fails they’re not above giving a nasty bite. You can earn their trust slowly by getting them used to your scent, but come prepared to deal with their blinding fire and needle teeth.
Been a hot minute hasn't it! College kicking my ass at the moment, I offer some older concept sketches, got a few to post from back when I watched Way of the Water
