It gets better. The "não" in "não é" comes from Old Galician Portuguese “non” which comes from Latin “nōn”, from Old Latin “noenum”, from Porto-Indo-European “*ne”.
P.I.E. “*ne” also descended into the Old Latin “ne” (not) and then the Latin suffix “-ne”, which is added to a word in a phrase to make it a question.
“Kawaii desu ne?” Could be translated into Latin as “Dulcis sumne?”
The same Horse People word split off and incorporated itself into languages used in both Modern Japan, and Ancient Rome. And parallel evolved into something that is phonetically and functionally almost identical in both.
the japanese “-ne?” particle and the british slang term “innit” serve the same function
Yeah, I was struggling with the whole vineyard vs orchard thing before I posted this, but then I decided the Boimler family probably already has the infrastructure for drying small fruits out, and it wouldn’t be an insane lateral business move.
I’m imagining a scenario in which Boimler meets Worf and introduces himself as Ensign Boimler, and Worf says he recognizes him and Boims gets excited for a second until Worf explains that he recognizes the name Boimler from the brand of prune juice that comes from Bradward’s family’s vineyard.
Good to know Stalker grew out of a conversation between Brennan and Izzy about how a man who grew up in the woods and knows nothing of statecraft or social graces should not be the leader of a country.
If we ever get another D&D movie and have some actual play peeps cameo in it, I would want Brennan, Aabria, and Matt cast as “trio/quartet (if we could get Jasmine too) of arguing wizards”, and anyone who’s seen the Game Masters of Exandria Roundtable immediately understands what I mean.
Brennan would probably be interrogating some nonsensical illogic surrounding the behavior of a person and/or organization, which, on a Doylist level would be him examining the worldbuilding.
Aabria would be starting BEEF.
Matt would be exasperatedly trying to mediate and deescalate.
The jank of mini-Belizabeth-Brassica’s upsettingly long neck is hilarious.
It’s funny cause it doesn’t show up in the character art.
edit.
Ah, yes, Veggie priest #2
As an autistic guy I appreciate Jammer (and by extension all of Evan's friends). I appreciate that he can look at the weirdest guy he's ever met who's never had a friend in his life and be like "Don't even worry about it, that's my guy Evan. He's just chilling" while Evan is staring unblinking at a wall. I love to imagine a world where even the Dark Lord can have people who are like "That's my Bro. He gets possessed by demons sometimes and accidentally summons blood and/or shadow monsters. But it's chill, we fight 'em and then they go away *shrugs*."
Holy Fuck.
In light (haha) of the recent eclipse, I’d like to point out that it was during an eclipse in 1868 that French Astronomer Jules Janssen observed an unusual spectral line produced when he pointed his telescope at the partially obscured sun. He assumed that it corresponded to the spectrum of Sodium.
Observation by English astronomer Norman Lockyer later that year revealed it to be a different element. The first one discovered on a distant celestial sphere before it was discovered on Earth. He chose to name it after the sun.
In 1968, one hundred years later, a space probe was launched to orbit around and study the sun.
It continues!
🥰
Bonus:
They finally got her there! 🥺💖💞
Yes, the “We can’t just not look, can we?” scene in Those Old Scientists is hilarious but imagine the Department of Temporal Investigations began to refer to that as the “Boimler Maneuver” or alternatively the “Shy Pisser Maneuver”.
Because that’s very much what it is. It’s an entire room full of people standing in a corner of the room, trying not to look, while you do your business. It just so happens that that business is utilizing methods and technology from the future
It would be very on brand for Boimler that when he finally gets a maneuver named after him it’s also called the “Shy Pisser Maneuver”, forever branding him a shy pee’er regardless of whether he is one or not.
