from the first year gang, Deuce is actually my favorite! (Jack comes as a veeery close second fave) at the prologue I didn't really think much about him, then chapter 1 came and I decided he was going to be one of my favorites. yes it was at the eggs scene. HE'S JUST SO SWEET? I already have a soft spot for these delinquent types of characters and then he loves his mom so much he just wants to make her proud??? LITERALLY DEUCE SPADE THE ONLY MAN EVER

I think a lot about him, I'm sure if I was at NRC he'd be one of my first friends <3 he may be slow, but he's sooo dedicated it's truly endearing! I think he might come to ask for my help during classes and immediatly I'd go: you. you are my friend now.

there are so many scenes with Deuce that I absolutely adore, the eggs scene on chap1, when he comes to rescue us at the end of chap4, when he goes to the beach with Epel on chap5, the whole Wish Upon a Star event, his Ceremonial Robes vignette...

he makes me have to resist the urge to kiss his cheeks every time he says something cute. I'm squeezing his cheeks right now, they are irresistible. the way I'd be so ready to throw hands the moment anyone says anything bad about him ever. yes that includes Ace, square up!! I'm defending him with my life!!!

the way his character developed more on chap5 and he discovered his U.M. was sooo cool I was so proud of him!! Flower Feelings

Silver was relatively used to strange things happening to him. Sometimes, the wild animals that loved him so much would leave something special — flowers, leaves, small berries, feathers — in his closet in the stables or in his place in class. One day, Silver found a bunch of very small, five-petaled pale pink flowers;

But when Silver went to a certain tree in the courtyard to thank for the branch, the little birds pecked at the flowers and looked kind of confused. Although animal language wasn’t Silver’s forte, he managed to ask if this was a gift from them and the answer was no. This made him very surprised. Who could it have been then?;

The other times these bouquets appeared on Silver's table, there was a small card with the name of the flower and its meaning. “Diosma: your simple elegance charms me”. The mysterious handwriting at least gave good indications that it really was a human being sending the diosmas. Silver knew some flowers meant something, but he never imagined someone would direct one especially for him.;

Silver passed to collect these diosmas and placed them in a vase in his room, treating them with the utmost care. But because it was starting to die and flare up, he sought your help on how to best treat them. You were surprised and when you asked why, Silver replied that he wanted to take care of the feelings of this person who so kindly handed him flowers;

Diosma is a shrub with thin branches, a small ornamental flower, blooming in mid-winter until mid-spring. Silver was surprised to find that there was already a small flower bed with diosmas in the school grove, in an area where it managed to receive full Sun. You began to meet more in these places to admire the little flowers and talk together;

Even though Silver didn’t suspect anything — it wasn’t his style to jump to conclusions — deep down, he found himself wanting you to be the one pleasing him with these little gifts. Silver might not have been very aware that people called him “airhead” but you were one of the few people who saw something really special about him despite all his odds;

Was that what it meant to have a simple charm? Although Silver couldn’t be compared in power and elegance to the Thorn Fairy, you praised him for who he was and loved his simplicity. One day, you called Silver to go on Ramshackle and you showed him a small place at the back of the mansion which you turned into a kind of winter garden for your flowers;

Among them were some gardenias. A flower that had a bud the size of a rose but was completely white and its open petals enhance its own kind of beauty. You allowed Silver to hold one for a closer look while you detailed some facts about this moisture-loving flower. “Gardenias mean ‘purity, sweet love and... you are lovely’. Just like you, Silver,” you said;

Silver raised his gaze from the gardenia to you, as if admiring the beauty of another flower. With his attention on you, you revealed that you were the person who was sending the diosmas flowers because you liked him. More than liked, these feelings blossomed enough to become love. “I-i’ll understand if you don't feel the same way and...,” but Silver interrupted you for a moment;

If you've ever wondered what it was like for flowers to feel the Sun shining above it, this moment gave you the answer. Silver gave you a small smile, delicate and subtle as the opening of a gardenia bud. He stepped forward and stood right next to you;

“I don't know much about flowers but do you have any that I can give you to say ‘I love you too’?,” Silver asked, honestly. You knew that wasn’t a flirtation, and yet your heart failed briefly, as if put to sleep in a quarter of a second. That there was such a flower, you knew but, what you really said was that Silver could just hand you a kiss and you would understand the same.

For some time now, Azul had been finding small bouquets of pink camellias on his table almost every morning. The flowers came with a small note written “longing for you” — what Azul came to discover was the meaning of that little pink flower with more circular petals. Even if these flowers appeared out of nowhere, Azul never left it to die;

He happened to have a special vase in his VIP office to place the camellias. Sometimes, during one of his study breaks or dorm accounting, Azul would pick up one of the flowers to analyze it better. In the sea where he came from, there were no plants like that. Earthly nature was very fascinating to him;

As you understood a lot about flowers, Azul sometimes asked you for help to know what to do with the camellias and also took advantage of this time to be by your side. Azul liked to touch the camellias’ petals —  not all the time — just to feel its softness and delicacy. It brought a good feeling to him, even more so for making him remember you too;

The few times you touched Azul — holding his hand to ask for something, squeezing his face when you felt he should stop and rest, or simply touching his nose in a playful way — it was like the touch of a camellia. You were a beautiful flower and even suffering from the strong winds of life’s difficulties, you were able to withstand the winter;

At some point, Azul suspected that you were the person who left the pink camellias on his desk before the students arrived in class. You had means, opportunities, advantages. But he couldn’t think of a reason why. Does it have anything to do with the meaning of the flower? Azul chuckled to himself at the thought of these things, but it was a humorless laugh;

It was he who longed for you. To talk more with you, to have your smile, to feel your touch and hear with your words that you liked him back. But Azul didn’t allow himself to be delusional. He knew you wouldn't be able to have deep feelings about him. Not the pathetic Azul who takes advantage of others magic, does nothing but mask defects and cry when everything goes wrong. You deserved something genuine, high-quality, and… not him;

“This is a coral honeysuckle,” you explained when you showed the flower to Azul. It was an ordinary afternoon, you had called Azul to stroll through the Botanical Garden. There you showed him a special pot for a climbing plant with narrow, long, petals with the color of coral. From what you commented, it was a flower whose fruit couldn’t be consumed and should be pruned a little after flowering so as not to infested on other plants;

Azul adjusted his glasses, as always impressed with your knowledge. He asked the meaning of the flower and you took a deep breath for a moment before plucking a small branch and reaching out to him. “It usually means affection. Love full of devotion,” you confessed, feeling your heart beat fast. “I ... think it seems a lot like you too.”;

Azul was speechless when he accepted the branch. He put his hand a little closer to his face, the honeysuckle flowers masking his rosy cheeks. Was that a confession? He needed a moment to process everything. This meant that it was really you who was leaving the camellias on his table;

You said you’d wanted to declare your feelings for a while, but you didn't know how. With the delivery of the camellias, you longed for Azul to knock on your door at any time to ask what to do with them, and since this is one of his talents, Azul has fulfilled your wish effectively;

“Only you can see grace, beauty and qualities in a flower that loses its head and another that goes over in everything that lies ahead,” Azul approached you with a small smile. His eyes were as sweet as honey. Before you could say anything, Azul wrapped you in a tight hug. You were close enough to hear his heart beat like a festive maritime orchestra. 

Epel found it curious to find a bunch of apple blossoms on his desk that morning. No one had any idea how those flowers came to be there either. All he had was a simple card with the words: “Good fortune. Better things to come.” This same thing repeated itself over the days and Epel continued without a clear answer;

Still, given the fact that he was still stressing over some of Pomefiore’s stuff and he was trying harder than ever at the Magift Club, receiving those words of motivation made Epel’s heart pound harder. Whoever was rooting for him, he appreciated it! More than saying what Epel absolutely should do or what he wanted to hear, these were true caring words. He could feel it;

As Harveston is a town full of apple trees, Epel wasn’t surprised by the arrival of blossoms from the trees in early spring. The apple trees on the school campus were enchanted, so there were some full of flowers and others already with the ripe fruits. Since childhood, Epel liked to watch the blossoms when they opened;

When Epel found you, he showed the flowers to you and went into detail about the aspects and utilities of them. Apple blossoms are small, has five white petals with a little pink inside. Some still in the bud have an even darker and more intense pink. You watched Epel excitedly comment on stories about the apple blossoms — family memories and some old village legends;

But it was you who commented on the meaning of the flower — the same as the sayings on the card. At first, Epel thought it was just a coincidence that you knew this. Well, he liked you for a long time and you two talked enough that you knew what he needed. But Epel didn’t want to fool himself for nothing. You just really liked flowers;

Epel took advantage of all those apple blossoms to make tea and share with his dorm. Dried apple tree petals can help relieve stress. It made him wonder if, for you, he could be useful in anything. You can use a lot from an apple, from the flower to the fruit. Except when it's completely rotten or have bugs inside;

However, even if the world told Epel that he had a rotten part — a stain inside his beautiful, glossy apple, a poison that should be eradicated just because — you didn’t make him feel that way. Epel strove to get better in what he could, that was good, but you looked at him in a different way. Not for what he looked like, but for who he was. Made him feel at home, loved;

“I found these primroses in the village and I'm thinking of planting the seeds in the garden. It will be easy, it’s a very determined type. It can adapt to anything,” you giggled as you showed a small vase of flowers to Epel in Ramshackle’s front yard. Primroses were small flowers with well-flattened petals, those ones were especially purple;

Epel had found it quite pretty, so he asked if you knew its meaning. At that moment, he noticed that you seemed to get a little anxious all of a sudden. But you took a deep breath and replied, “It does... I can’t live without you.” Epel got surprised for a second, almost wondering if you had said that more to him than about the flower;

So you told everything. About the flowers that Epel found every morning, about your feelings. Because the love that Epel sprouted in your heart was blooming with the rise of early spring, finally giving petals and would continue to grow until it produced fruits. But, if he wanted to pull the root out, you couldn’t do anything. You didn't want to force your love on him, ever;

“What in the big bull’s shit are ya sayin’? Of course I like you!,” Epel touched your shoulder and you faced him again. As expected, his pale face had some pink reflections just like apple flower petals. But Epel had mustered all his courage to reciprocate your feelings once and for all. You took a primrose, kissed one of its petals and offered it to him to do the same. He smiled, still a bit embarrassed. You’re a good ol’ lovey-dovey person, aren’t ya? 

Loved your take on him smelling like smoke and I completely agree! I have no idea how his hair works, physics wise his hair would be burning at atleast 2,500 degrees F if not up to 3000 degrees F so by all means simply brushing past him would leave you with atleast a slight burn if not worse, yet we see him tie it up in a ponytail and braid it. Also just a little silly fact since his hair canonically turns red when he’s angry that would mean his hair becomes a colder temperature when he’s angered than it is when he’s completely fine (p.s I love Idia thank you for talking about him with me!!) -🦭

RIGHT? but I don't think it burns at all, not himself nor other people, since no one has ever mentioned it? Idia is insecure about his hair, yes, but not because it's dangerous and has hurt people before, but because it's different and people might look at him weird. and just like you said anon, simply by brushing past him it would be able to leave a burn mark on someone!! which has never happened at all!!

maybe it has something to do with his curse? I don't know much about his backstory yet, though I'm pretty sure he's not fae or a demigod, but a human like most students, the only difference is that his family carries a curse that causes his hair to be in flames, his teeth pointy and his lips blue. I'm pretty sure that's it? there must be some reason (something involving the underworld?), but I haven't read chapter 6 so I'm not aware of it yet.

this curse might mean his hair is not actually on flames, but these are more like a symbolical fire? it imitates real fire, but acts just like hair (with a few exceptions at the tips that end up floating and giving it a fiery effect). that might be why he's able to touch it and mold it into different hairstyles.

it would also explain this emotional fact! like you said, his hair turns colder when he's angry, which wouldn't make much sense if you consider that there's a tendency of your blood rushing and making you run hotter when feeling strong emotions, particularly one as strong as anger. if you consider the color theory of it, though, it makes more sense: Idia is usually chill and calm, even melancholic, so blue fits his natural state. red is associated with negative fiery emotions, such as anger. pink is a soft color that brings to mind love, so when he's flustered it might burn pink. so on and so forth. it's very cute how you can tell his emotional state by his hair!

Idia is so interesting (and relatable at some points), I totally understand why he'd be one of your favorites, anon! I really enjoy talking about him with you, as you bring up so many good points I wouldn't have thought about!! I can't wait until chapter 6 comes to the english server so I can see more of him!

OH that'd explain it! and yeah, I get the reboots part. I was always bothered Tom was the villain just because he's a cat 💔 (he's also a little shit who looks for trouble), but his relationship with Jerry was just so funny, one episode they were fighting and on the other they were friends. when I was little, if there was one thing that annoyed me to no end was when there were these dog movies and the villains were ALWAYS cats smh

oh yes, i remember that exact scene and song!! though, i first knew the song from a random memory of my pre-k years lol. the pre-k i went to taught us basic french for some reason, and they taught us the "Alouette" song early on. but as a four-year-old, it didn't really register in my head exactly what the song had meant (like many nursery and children's songs), so you can imagine the shock future me had when i found out what the song was truly saying 💀 the poor bird

They are all shady or ready to deck someone which makes me think that it’s simply a trait housewardens look for. I’d imagine they all play-fight, but where and how varies greatly. When you play fight it’s probably because one of you is being snippy after a long day of dealing with other peoples bullshit.

You aren’t likely to end up actually injured or bruised or anything, but you may end up wrestling on the floor of Trey’s room or smacking each other with pillows.

He’s an older brother so he knows restraint but the urge to pull hair and smack the shit out of someone is strong.

Instead he just pins you to the ground and dramatically lays on you to keep you there

You guy definitely have a food fight.

Not like, with finished dishes or anything, but in a ‘I dropped some ice from the freezer and instead of kicking it under the fridge, we’re playing ice soccer in the kitchen at 3 am’ kind of way.

Or sometimes when you have leftover frosting from a cake he’s made you end up flinging it at each other.

His trash talk is somehow both very good and very bad at the same time.

Initiates by walking up and biting your shoulder or sometimes just shoving you and running.

If you accept playfighting him at least once be prepared he’s going to do it a lot.

He has so much pent up aggression.

Half of the fighting is smack talk and boy does he have a MOUTH.

Hopefully you have thick skin because otherwise when he says shit like “you look like a gazelle ass fucked a cactus” you might actually cry

Definitely rougher when he plays.

Expect claw marks, bites, bruises, and sore limbs when you’re done fighting.

Try to ignore the stares you get from everyone when they see a bite mark on your shoulder because how do you explain you didn’t do that you were actually just beating the shit out of each other

He will start a fight literally anywhere and you two probably go at it for at least an hour before he gives up

If he ends up drawing blood he’s frantically making sure you’re alright and patching you up

Probably play fights with you as warmup for spelldrive practice.

This entails him coming to your room, pouncing on you to wake you up, then maniacally laughing when you fight him off with a scowl.

Jade isn’t one to play fight normally, he has a reputation to keep up.

So he won’t usually initiate that.

If you start to goad him into it, he just gives you a menacing smile then turns you over to Floyd to play like that.

If you still insist on playing with him, he will literally just pick you up and sling you over his shoulder until you promise to stop.

Then he drops you on the ground.

Now, that’s how it goes on land, anyway. But in water? Hooboy, hope you can hold your breath.

Jade’s third favorite thing to do is drag people underwater (the first two are hiking in the mountains and teasing Azul) and luckily for you, he remembers just how much you like play fighting!

And since Jade’s in the water, chances are Floyd is too.

They rarely do fun things without each other.

So now you’re going to be fighting for your life from two mischievous mer-eels.

Jade wears a darkly serene expression as he asks you whatever could be the matter and Floyd looks like he’s won the fucking jackpot when you surface from getting dragged into the water with them

You will not win this playfight, because there is little distinguishing it from a real one.

The only difference is that they aren’t actually trying to harm you, but you probably won’t realize that when Jade repeatedly drags you under water to see how long you can hold your breath, trapping your legs with his tail.

He finds the way you beat at him with your fists pretty adorable, which is lucky because that means you won’t drown today!

You’re not so much play-fighting Jamil as you’re training with him.

Which is probably good, it means there’s rule and a time limit.

Anyway, most of his comments are half trash talk and half trying to get a rise out of you.

Sparring with him is fucking exhausting so you likely do it mostly in the evenings or when Jamil is training some other students.

Sometimes he gets way too into it and ends up mixing breakdance moves and martial arts to kick your ass.

He has knocked your feet out from under you before and he will do it again

Moves so confidently and quickly you think he might moonlight as an assassin

If he ends up hitting you too hard he apologizes quickly and you don’t usually have many bruises due to the fact he makes you wear padding and you spar on a mat

Dude can totally take a hit so you don’t really have to hold back (he prefers if you don’t, it tests him more)

so don’t be afraid to smack him around.

Genuinely appreciative of you doing this with him and makes sure to let you know every time you take up his offer to practice together

He repays you buy providing you with snacks light on the stomach after you’re done working out together, usually some lightly chilled water and a piece of fruit.

Hahahaha….oh dear lord. So listen, there’s two types of play fighting.

There’s the one you initiate, then there’s the one he initiates.

One of them is fun!

The other is straight from a horror movie

If you initiate, he’s happy to indulge, and he hits a littler harder than he means to sometimes but overall it’s pretty chill.

You two end up chasing each other around campus, playing what could be described as a really intense, violent game of tag.

By the time you’re done, you’re both covered in dirt of mud and have sticks and leaves sticking to you.

If he initiates, please don’t take his offer.

This is the scary one.

His version of play fighting is chasing you through the woods behind campus with a bow and arrow and yelling vague threats about “ahh, you’re close! I can almost smell you~” and occasionally shooting an arrow that is ENTIRELY TOO CLOSE for comfort.

If he catches up to you - or just decides this is the right moment - he’s tackling you to the ground.

He’ll tease you for losing before attacking you with tickles, the most terrifying of all weapons.

So maybe it isn’t scary in the end, since he was never gonna hurt you, but running through the forest with nobody nearby except for a guy armed with a long ranged weapon is absolutely terrifying, and there’s always the slim chance he misses….

Ortho

Gentlest of the list.

He’s more sure how much pressure to apply when play fighting, so it mostly ends up being pillow fights, or something else that’s soft.

Poking, bumping into you, very very gentle punching, that’s all on the table.

If you try to initiate, Idia will get very pissed.

All of his internal components are extremely sensitive, you can’t just smack him! And besides that, he’s tiny, and his brother! Why would you do this?

Idia is genuinely terrifying when his entire attention is focused on you, and hes pissed.

The flames of his hair are growing and flickering wildly as his gold eyes glare down into yours.

The only thing that calms him down is when Ortho begs him to

So you don’t really get to physically play fight with him anymore, but you do get to game together.

With Idia’s supervision.

He’s not going to be letting Ortho around you anymore since you decided to fight a literal innocent child

Lilia

I’m fairly certain that play fighting is Lilia’s love language.

He loves to beat the shit out of people.

Least gentle next to Jade, because he will literally grab you and throw you in the air.

You’re not in danger, but his awareness of the human limits is limited, unlike Jade.

Probably isn’t a fan of shit-talking in person, but definitely does it when he’s gaming late at night.

Probably play fight in the Diasomnia lounge.

There’s an audience there to watch you get your ass kicked by an old man, as well as to see you fling the five foot nothing bat across the room.

Most intense play fighting imaginable.

He’s a big fan of flipping people and literally just throwing people around.

He’s completely fine with people doing it back to him, he finds it fun.

Playing with him is like trying to fight black widow, except if you call for a time out he’ll let you.

Silver and Sebek both try and warn you not to do this.

They literally trained with him as children they know he does not fuck around.

You ignore their advice and end up with a broken leg and a bowl of Lilia’s soup.
