In-ho | The Front Man: [coldly] What makes you think I will end these games, Player 456?
Gi-hun: [without hesitation] I'll sit on your face.
[The Front Man, caught completely off guard, makes a choked noise—somewhere between a gasp and a strangled cough.]
[The Front Man flashes back to watching Gi-hun during the dalgona game. The camera zooms in on Gi-hun, hunched over his candy, tongue out, licking furiously like his life depends on it (it does).]
How Gi-hun was going to walk out that mingle room if he paired up with Young-il in the last round:

In-ho: So, you like cats?
Gi-hun: Yeah.
In-ho: [Maintains intense eye contact and deliberately nudges a glass toward the edge of the table.]
[The glass wobbles, teeters, then slowly tumbles off, shattering on the floor.]
In-ho: [Deadpan, barely blinking.] Meow.
Stoppp, I love this movie so much!!! But now all I can think about is who all lives and dies in this universe?! Because if both In-ho and Gi-hun do not make it I will shatter. And now I have a new draft document 📃
Zombie apocalypse inspired by Train to Busan with In-ho, who is still a police officer alongside Jun-ho and Gi-hun, who is a single divorced father. Gi-hun has been divorced from Sang-woo for months now; only during the proceedings did they find out Gi-hun was pregnant with their second child, complicating things. In-ho and Gi-hun are neighbors, and In-ho is down bad, though they remain friends because Gi-hun feels guilty saddling him with everything. Well, In-ho has to take the train to Busan with Jun-ho for a case and runs into Gi-hun (who is heavily pregnant at this point), who is taking Ga-yeong to be with Sang-woo for the weekend, though she objects heavily.
Gi-hun and In-ho sit together, third-wheeling poor Jun-ho (who is completely done with his love-struck older brother at this point). Then the zombie virus breaks out on the train, and In-ho and Jun-ho take charge, leading the uninfected survivors. Well, when the survivors have to change trains to get to Busan, Gi-hun is bitten protecting Ga-yeong. In-ho is DEVASTATED, as is Ga-yeong, who has to be dragged away by Jun-ho. In-ho cannot kill Gi-hun and instead handcuffs him to the sink in the back of the train and tearfully rejoins the other survivors at the front.
Well, later, In-ho, who has been receiving updates on the virus on his phone, learns that it has been discovered that pregnant people, because of their endorphins, are resistant to the zombie virus and only experience flu-like symptoms, meaning Gi-hun and his baby will likely not turn. In-ho, without hesitation, races to the back of the train to rescue Gi-hun, and when he reunites with him, looking at the man he loves terrified and teary-eyed, still handcuffed to the sink, he sobs and finally kisses him. Then he practically carries him back to the front of the train with the other survivors and is just like: I am your husband now. This is my child. 😤
ANON, U JUST DELIVERED AN OSCAR WINNING SCRIPT ON MY INBOX!!!
i love everything abt his!!!
protective inho, gihun defending his daughter, junho being tired of their asses.... i know gayeong accidently kills a zombie and the men around are proud and horrified in equal measures.
INHO CLAIMING GIHUN'S BABY AS HIS OMGGGGGGGG 😩🤧
Gi-hun’s life truly is miserable because imagine losing people you love in such horrific ways, winning a death game, harboring some of the worst trauma imaginable, and desperately looking for the person responsible for all of it for three years.
then when you finally do find him, he is basically just an unhinged homosexual pretending to be some guy to manipulate you, and when he realizes you won’t let him hit he fucking kills your best friend. crazy!
Gihun, finding out Youngil is actually alive and is the Frontman: You know what? Next time I join the games I’m gonna wear lipstick and a dress-
Inho: ???
Gihun: -because I like to look pretty when I get FUCKED.
Thank you so much for responding! I would definitely recommend the movie is science fiction horror is your thing! The unintended bonus for the movie for me is definitely Ripley and Hicks, hence why I could not help imagining Gi-hun and In-ho as them. Not to mention Gi-hun is so final girl-coded—survivor’s guilt and all✨
Also, I loved your description of the scene. It actually made me blush 😊 🫣 Now, I definitely want to write this! Thank you again!
Hey! I don’t know if you have ever seen the film Aliens, which, full disclosure, is science fiction horror. Quick summary if you have not seen it: Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of an alien attack on her ship, agrees to return to the site where her now-dead crew first encountered the alien creatures with a unit of Colonial Marines with Corporal Dwayne Hicks to investigate.
Anyway, I want to write Gi-hun as Ripley and In-ho as Hicks so bad solely because of the chemistry they have through the film being so protective of one another. But mainly because of the scene below where Hicks shows Ripley how to fire a pulse rifle to defend herself:
Seeing In-ho show Gi-hun how to fire a gun would be so 🫣 🫣 🫣
hi!! 💖
i've never seen it unfortunatley but i hear it's an amazing movie!!
omg, can u imagine inho behind gihun kinda realizing that with their height difference he can't quite get his arms around gihun, so he presses up against his back, their bodies touching from shoulders to hips. he hooks his chin over gihun's shoulder and uses his hands to bend gihun's arms this way and that, speaking soft instructions the entire time. gihun is tense, trying to concentrate on what inho is saying but his body is firm as it presses against gihun's own, and his hands are warm and calloused, and every time he turns his head his breath ghosts over gihun's neck and makes goosebumps erupt all over his skin. when gihun finally gets a good grip, inho's hand leave his arms and trail down, fitting themselves over gihun's trim waist, thumb brushing soft circles over his shirt. he tells gihun to relax and to always remember that inho will be there every step of the way. gihun almost presses his finger against the trigger and, in a moment of weakness, leans back against inho's body, feeling those fingers tighten on his waist and flex, almost as if inho wants to press them against one another even harder.

In-ho (“Young-il”): [leans in with a smirk, voice low and smooth] One last question I just have to ask: Would you mind if I ripped off all of your clothes with my teeth?
Gi-hun: [without hesitation, eyes shining with enthusiasm] God, I’d be honored.
In-ho: [blinks, brain short-circuiting] … [mouth slightly open, trying to process the fact that this actually worked]

Front Man (Hwang In-ho): [holding Gi-hun at gunpoint] You must be losing it, Player 456. I could beat you with one hand.
Seong Gi-hun: Isn't that how you like to beat yourself?
Front Man: …
Seong Gi-hun: …Okay, if those are my last words, I can definitely do better.

[How I expect Gi-hun reacted after learning that "Young-il" or In-ho is the Front Man.]
Gi-hun: Would you like some coffee?
Front Man (In-ho): I’d love some.
[Gi-hun hurls the coffee pot at him.]
Front Man: …I prefer mine in a cup.
[Gi-hun chucks a mug next.]
Front Man: No cream?
[Gi-hun lobs a creamer container at his head.]
Front Man [dodging]: Maybe a little sugar—
[Gi-hun, with deadpan intensity, launches the entire sugar bowl at him.]
Seong Gi-hun: Jun-ho, after a string of doomed, toxic relationships, I think I’ve finally found a healthy, stable partner in Young-il.
Hwang In-ho (a.k.a. "Young-il"): [smirking like a cat that just swallowed a canary] Hello, I'm Young-il. It's nice to meet a friend of Gi-hun's.
Hwang Jun-ho: [stares at In-ho, then at Gi-hun, then back at In-ho. Slowly facepalms.] Oh my God…
Seong Gi-hun: [nervous laugh] Wait, why are you making that face?
Stop, because this has actually taken over my mind.
I imagine Gi-hun as a divorced, gambling-addicted cleaner at the opera house, living there while his daughter trains in ballet at the dormitory. He’s worked there for years, long enough to start believing in the so-called Front Man—especially since said ghost has been giving him impromptu singing lessons.
Gi-hun can’t deny that ever since the Front Man took an interest in him, most of his gambling debts have been conveniently forgotten by those he owed them to. Some creditors have even mysteriously disappeared.
One day, disaster strikes. The prima donna refuses to sing after yet another sabotage by the opera ghost—this time, right in front of the new owner of the opera house, the Recruiter. To make matters worse, a new benefactor has arrived: Cho Sang-woo.
Gi-hun’s childhood best friend.
Sang-woo doesn’t recognize Gi-hun at first—just a cleaner on stage, sweeping up the aftermath of yet another accident. But when it becomes clear that the opera will have to cancel its performance (and refund an audience they can’t afford to lose), Jung-bae, the stage manage who got Gi-hun the job years ago, makes an outrageous suggestion: let Gi-hun sing.
Gi-hun nearly spits out his drink. Everyone laughs. The idea is ridiculous. Him? The starring role?
But then—he sings.
And the laughter stops.
Before he can protest, the costumers are hauling him backstage, fitting him into elaborate robes, combing his hair, shaving his face. By the time he looks in the mirror, he barely recognizes himself. He isn’t just a cleaner anymore.
That night, as Gi-hun steps onto the stage, Sang-woo recognizes the voice before he recognizes the man. The performance stuns the audience, and afterward, Sang-woo finds Gi-hun in his dressing room, inviting him to dinner. The invitation feels surreal—too fine, too polished. The luxury, the crisp new clothes—it’s everything Gi-hun ever wanted.
But something about it feels wrong.
Later, a letter arrives. Not from Sang-woo.
From the Front Man, the opera ghost.
The signature?
A symbol.
〇△□
Before Gi-hun can make sense of it, he is summoned.
This time, not to the stage.
To the depths beneath the opera house.
Where the Front Man waits.
i dont know if this is too niche but then again tumblr never fails to surprise me so… hear me out on this????? i???? kinda need to write this au asap because the poto dynamic with 457 is actually crazy
the phantom is the og masked yearner i fear… he walked so inho could run
also the idea of the phantom (inho) being shorter than christine (gihun) has me giggling a little icl
I'm trapped by these two
Park Jung-bae: When was the last time you were held?
Seong Gi-hun: Yesterday.
Park Jung-bae: At gunpoint doesn’t count.
Seong Gi-hun: Last week.
Park Jung-bae: Being in the Front Man’s custody doesn’t count either.
Love this idea, but picture this: what if it all happens right after the failed rebellion, but before Jung-bae gets killed? So, In-ho, in full Front Man mode, is in the middle of his grand, dramatic speech. He’s all like, “Did you enjoy playing the hero, Player 456?” when—splash—suddenly, both of them look down and realize Gi-hun’s breeches are completely soaked.
Cue the awkward silence.
Gi-hun, clearly in pain, is trying to figure out how he’s suddenly in this situation. Meanwhile, Jung-bae, who is totally baffled by what just happened, looks at Gi-hun and just deadpans, “Are you... pregnant???”
Gi-hun, looking utterly done with everything at this point, glares at him and snaps, “No, I’m too old for that shit.”
In-ho, under his mask, is having a full-on meltdown, breathing erratically like he’s about to faint. He’s trying to stay composed, but this? This is beyond him.
Jung-bae, still processing, is just like, “Bro, you’re obviously pregnant! And in labor now!” Meanwhile, Gi-hun’s holding his stomach like he might die, and In-ho's mentally just spiraling.
Finally, In-ho snaps at the guards to escort Jung-bae back to the dormitory and to bring the doctor for Gi-hun, who, despite now being in active labor, still thinks the idea of him being pregnant is preposterous and will continue to do so until he is holding his newborn son.
So I've seen a number of anons bring up potential Gi-hun pregnant during the second games scenarios, but I think for maximum comedy he should have zero idea he is pregnant and randomly go into labor either during or in between one of the games.
Gi-hun, during the search for the Frontman, slept with "Young-il" nine months before, who claimed he was grieving the death of his wife and unborn child. Really, In-ho wanted to see Gi-hun, and one thing led to another. So when they "run into each other" at the second games, it seems like a massive coincidence.
Gi-hun has been displaying some strange symptoms like nausea and stomach pains and the occasional odd food craving that he has dismissed because of his stubbornness and determination to stop the games. Plus, the thought that he is pregnant just never even occurs to him because he is not showing because he has not eaten much or rested and simply because he believes he is far too old to worry about such things anymore. So when his waters break at the second games, it is a big "what the f*ck" moment for all parties.
I would love to imagine how In-ho reacts, but I have already taken up a lot of space 😂
this is soo gihun 😭😭😭😭 this would definitely happen to him vnienkgv
sometimes he feels some fluttering in his stomach but he just thinks it's something bad he ate, neverming that he never actually eats anything 🙄
i'm trying to think of the funniest moment he could go into labor and it's either as he is about to vote on the games or when they are playing mingle or the pentathlon.
let's say it's during mingle.
they have just crammed ten of themselves into the room and the shaman is yelling like a maniac and inho is staring creepily at gihun and gihun is bent over, clutching his stomach and watching the remaining players be gunned down outside.
his abdomen is cramping and his hips and lower back ache really back but he thinks it's the physical stress of the game and the result of not eating anything while being nauseous all the time. again, pregnancy flies right over his head because he. is. old.
the labour is one of those that is super quick!
gihun is still watching through the door slit when he feels something wet down his legs and he looks down to find his pants are wet.... daeho of course, would ask if he is okay and jungbae would chuckle that he peed his pants but gihun is just horrified and geumja is like "that doens't look like pee 🤨"
and gihun curls up in pain, holding his abdomen and inho is like "are u pregnant? 😟" and gihun says no, that's impossible... except that they had sex nine months. his contractions are worse and everyone is freaking out and the door won't open!!!! and inho feels like he is about to pass out bc what do u mean he's having another kid????
gihun has the baby right in that room, there isn't even time to get anyone out. junhee has a lovely preview of herself within the following month and daeho can't look gihun in the eye bc he's seen ALL of him. jungbae immediately claims to be the baby's fav uncle and geumja is admonishing gihun for not noticing that he is pregnant. of course, hyunju, our queen, held gihun's hand through the whole thing and let him yell at anyone he wanted, particularly inho 🥰
OR - he has the baby during the night while everyone is in the dormitory asleep
Quick essay that no one asked for on the ship of Seong Gi-hun and Hwang In-ho. I see this pairing being commonly compared to the likes of Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter, and while I definitely see the similarities, to me, the (oddly enough, heterosexual) couple they remind me the most of is Catherine the Great and Peter III of Russia.
These characters are from the television show The Great, and long story short, Catherine the Great begins as a naive and optimistic young woman who marries Peter III, and her optimism shatters upon realizing how cruel and spiteful her husband is, and she decides to overthrow him. However, despite everything they do to each other over the course of the series, including attempting to kill and overthrow each other and murdering one another's loved ones, they somehow fall in love.
Their love is so powerful and all-consuming that even those around them, closest to them, cannot fathom it after all that they have done to one another and to me that is how Seong Gi-hun and Hwang In-ho are. Often people argue that Gi-hun would never in actuality love In-ho after what he did to countless players and Jung-bae, but that is the point: like Peter and Catherine, their twisted love transcends the violence and betrayal, showing a deeper connection that defies logic and reason.
Specifically, there is one scene played out between Peter and Catherine that I could easily see happening between Gi-hun and In-ho. In a fit of rage, Catherine finally stabs Peter (who is actually a body double of him), and she thinks she has killed him, and upon realizing what she has done, she breaks down in sobs and falls to her knees. Then the real Peter appears, and Catherine, realizing he is alive and how she felt when she thought she had killed him, realizes her feelings, and he holds her while she cries. I can totally see Gi-hun somehow managing to shoot The Frontman (who is actually a double as well, let us say) only to similarly break down in tears and feel utter devastation over what he thought he had done. Then In-ho appears, revealing that the individual in the Frontman outfit was a double, and Gi-hun is overcome with a multitude of feelings like relief, shock, and love, and cries before going to the other man and embracing him.
I need someone to recreate the Gone Girl promotional poster—but with In-ho and Gi-hun! Ugh, especially if it is Gi-hun in one of those black boxes with the pink bows and In-ho holding him! I wish I had artistic ability so I could do it!
Seong Gi-hun: You've taken my best friend Jung-bae... and my new friend, Young-il! You monster!
Hwang In-ho: On the contrary, Player 456... [slowly removes mask.]
Seong Gi-hun: [gasps, staring.] Young-il! You're alive! I knew it! But where's the Front Man? He could come back any second-quick, we need to get out of here before he finds us!
Hwang In-ho: [stares blankly, then slowly puts the mask back on.]
Seong Gi-hun: [eyes widen, incredulous.] Young-il, no!Where did he go? What did you do to him now, you monster?!
Hwang In-ho: [lets out a frustrated sigh, voice flat.] ...There's no way this is happening.
I still think the funniest way for Gi-hun to discover that “Young-il” is the Front Man would be through the most relatable slip-up ever: missing his iconic shoulder-length waves.
Picture this: after a game, Gi-hun and “Young-il” are chatting casually, maybe even joking around. Gi-hun laughs about something, and without thinking, “Young-il” sighs wistfully and says, “I miss your longer hair.”
Cue Gi-hun freezing mid-laugh, narrowing his eyes like, “How do you know I had long hair?”
And that’s when the panic sets in. Flashback to “Young-il” glued to surveillance footage from the first games, zooming in unnecessarily on Gi-hun’s flowing hair.
